SUMMARY:IDENTITY
DESCRIPTION:IDENTITY\nIdentity examines how our (often distorted) self-perceptions are shaped by experience\, society and the media as well as its impact on mental health\, the importance of talking about these anxieties and the transformative power of self-expression\, such as art. \nIDENTITY features the work of Bruno Metra and Laurence Jeanson The duo say that the series Identity 1&2 are works intended to show how much people are influenced by the media\, \nMeltem Isik placing enlarged images of various body parts in front of the subject’s body\, Isik explores topics such as body image and self-awareness. In a statement about the project\, Isik says: “The complexity that originates from the capability of our bodies to see and be seen simultaneously provides the basis of the work that I construct using different viewpoints. \nLeigh de Vries Body Dysmorphic Disorder or BDD dominated artist Leigh de Vries life for more than 25 years. It remained hidden behind a wall of secrecy and isolation. Exploring her condition through Art\, her socially engaged art experience – breaks down societal stigmas and offers an opportunity to encounter and understand BDD through the lens of the sufferer. photographer \nDerek Santini never-before-seen images of Lady Gaga\, who famously suffered from BDD \nDaniel Martin creates his portrait collages by deforming and recreating his materials\, or in his words: “the mastery of chance and mistakes.” \nBartosz Beda whose portraits and figurative works are explorations of the relationship between identity\, daily life and the human psyche. \nJames Green put himself in the shoes of BDD-sufferers\, using facial expressions to convey the overwhelming feeling of being trapped. \nScarlet Isherwood uses resin to encase a real lamb’s heart – representing rotting self-esteem – surrounded by real butterflies and glitter – symbolising advertising\, glamorising the need to change and transform. \nDaniela Slater looks at the workings of the human body and mind  and questions perception and connectivity through her art and words \nA percentage of monies raised from the IDENTITY exhibition will go to The BDD Foundation. \nThe Private View of IDENTITY will be held on 22 November\, from 6 – 9 pm \nThe Old Street Gallery \n62 Paul Street\, Leonard St\, London EC2A 4NA \nThe Exhibition will then continue from the 24-9 December at Zebra One Gallery in Hampstead.

SUMMARY:How To Catch A Bear
DESCRIPTION:“We’re going to go on this journey together\, and we’re going to come out again on the other side. \nAre you ready? \nLet’s go.” \nThree years ago\, Carys almost disappeared. They say she’s had a breakdown – she’s not sure what that means\, or where she can find the parts of herself that she lost. \nShe does know that every night\, a terrifying creature chases her through a forest. Why has it come back now\, after 10 years of silence? \n“I will be ready when she comes. I will be waiting here sharpening my claws. Polishing my teeth.” \nBased on writer/performer Carys Wright’s lived experience\, How To Catch A Bear is a redemptive\, dark\, funny and mythical show. It charts a journey from the trauma of sexual violence\, and emerges in healing. Using words\, movement and visual art\, Carys asks how we can turn fear into freedom\, and celebrate survival and resilience? \nHow To Catch A Bear is a show about secrets\, shame and finding power. It was first developed on Clean Break’s Young Artist Development Programme\, and is supported by Arts Council England and Clean Break.

SUMMARY:Grief Gathering In The Park with Sam Butler & David Harradine
DESCRIPTION:We’d like to invite you to take part in a small group conversation called a Grief Gathering. We’ll meet you at The Hub cafe in Victoria park\, and in small groups travel around the park together as the sun is going down; talking\, listening and learning about grief. This event is part of The Health Tree social prescribing project\, a partnership with St Margaret’s House. \nThis Grief Thing is a project which addresses the silence around grief and grieving. We’re living at a time when many people find death and grief – our own grief or other people’s – almost impossible to talk about. We don’t know what to say\, what to do\, or how to act. So we stay silent\, we pretend that grief doesn’t exist\, or we hide it. \nWe’re really keen to hear from all sorts of people about how easy or difficult they find it to talk about their own or other people’s grief. There is no obligation to talk\, you’re welcome to just sit and listen. \nThe conversation will be hosted by Fevered Sleep’s artistic directors Sam Butler & David Harradine. It will last approximately 90 minutes\, is free to attend\, takes place in Victoria Park and is open to everyone but booking is required. If you’d like to talk to us about your access needs or you have any other questions please contact us griefgatherings@feveredsleep.co.uk

The ticket link is here. https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/stagewave/t-odrqqp \nMusic is who we are. Music is what we are living for. We created Music for the Mind events for those who feel like they could use some energy\, knowledge and community support. Come and have a chill networking night with a cocktail\, some good music and music industry talks that will help you reboot your career. \nLineup:\nGates open at 18:00.\n18:30 – The night will start with inspiring live music from the soulful acoustic performer\, Natalie Lindi.\n19:00 – The first industry talk is from Hugo Kibasi\, production manager of Printworks. He will talk about his journey building his own company in the live music festival scene.\n19:30 – Speaker of Samaritans talks about the importance of mental health and ways to get help.\n19:45 – Gabriella Kemeny PR Consultant specialised in artists. Her topic is how you can build your brand and create a sustainable business of your passion.\n20:15 – Finally we will have blues-indie rock performer Eleni Drake with a bunch of positive and beautiful energies. \nDuring the night there will be time for networking with your peers\, freelancers\, artists and musicians. Don’t miss out on the chance to talk to them\, they may be your lucky stars! \nYOU’RE MORE RELEVANT THAN YOU THINK. We find it very important to show that nobody is alone with their bad feelings and anxiety\, with their fear of the future. We ask you to share your feelings on Instagram and Facebook about the world reopening\, about the last one and a half year\, with the hashtag of #musicforthemindfeelings . We will project these writings on a screen during the night (anonymously) so all participants can see that we all feel similar things right now. \n—-\nAbout the fundraising: \nIn these difficult times luckily there are charities that deeply care about us. Samaritans are there for us to give emotional support anytime when we are going through hard times\, YoungmindsUK’s dream is to live in a world where no young person feels alone with their mental health. They already helped us so much: it’s time to give back. By purchasing the ticket you support their work. You can also donate here: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFundraiserPage?userUrl=ThisisEmpathy&pageUrl=1\nWe aim to collect £5000 by the end of the summer.

SUMMARY:Mind The ‘Green Gap’: Houseplant Hideout Opens In East London To Combat Nature Deficit
DESCRIPTION:Thejoyofplants.co.uk today announces the opening of a ‘Houseplant Hideout’ in East London’s urban jungle\, Shoreditch’s BoxPark. Designed to banish autumn blues for the 48% of Brits who say they are dreading winter this year and to help bring nature into homes and home office spaces these cold seasons\, the Houseplant Hideout is ultimately designed to transport consumers to a biophilic wonderland of Zen. \nWith half (52%) confessing that nature is the top thing they’ve missed during the lockdown in recent research commissioned by Thejoyofplants.co.uk\, the houseplant experts have set about bringing a rich\, rejuvenating biophilic dreamworld to the heart of the concrete jungle. By placing over 300 houseplants into a handcrafted 10m installation\, with rotating chairs\, soft lighting and a mindfulness audio meditation crafted by plant spirit expert Holly Worton\, the Houseplant Hideout is set to transport visitors to another world. \nOpen to the public from the 7th of October at 10 am\, ‘Houseplant Hideout’ invites individuals to get lost – Alice in Wonderland style – in a lush green forest bathing immersion where the magical power of houseplants stimulates every sense. Upon stepping inside this tranquil oasis\, visitors will be transported into an interactive biophilic wonderland complete with a six-metre vertical kaleidoscope to be fully engulfed in nature and give them a magical moment for the gram. With terrariums portals to peek through from the outside to a lush moss flooring\, this event is designed to show how easy it is to bring the natural landscape into the interior landscape – just in time for winter. \nThejoyofplants.co.uk has collaborated with award-winning designer and architect DaeWha Kang to create the hideout – a monolithic landmark bringing biophilic principles to life with a unique space for people to retreat\, reflect and recharge – as part of their successful Thanks Plants campaign. With the safe space of our homes overtaken by work and more than ever\, we need quietude\, shelter\, and moments of beauty and tranquillity brought back into our home working spaces to avoid a nature deficit. \nRenowned botanist James Wong has carefully curated the houseplants inside\, selecting varieties for their wellbeing and biophilic benefits\, such as Strelitzia Nicolai’s that help take in CO2 and harmful toxins and release oxygen to plants and terrariums that help boost concentration whilst working from our home offices. \nPlant spirit expert Holly Worton has crafted a special plant meditation visitors can try out during their time in the installation and also listen at home to relax\, or on their lunch break via a link supplied on their visit. Talking to plants has long been proven to help them grow\, but Holly takes this one step further. Creating a meditation that reinforces our connection to plants by assisting consumers to get into a relaxed state helps us reach states of consciousness that allow for communication beyond humans. \nOpen to the public for free from 7th October to 9th October 2021 located at The Green in BOXPARK Shoreditch. Consumers will be allowed to book an individual session lasting 10 or 15 minutes here. The hideout is also designed with passers-by and houseplant enthusiasts in mind who can still enjoy the installation by peeking through the numerous portals and spotting our hand-made terrariums by James Wong\, discover magical houseplant scenes and capture inspiration and photography of this shrine to the wonder of houseplants.

SUMMARY:Grey Area
DESCRIPTION:Where does the line between self-care and egotism lie in relationships? An intimate semi-autobiographical performance highlighting the effects of unaddressed mental health in relationships\, told through the lens of deconstructed\, fragmented memories. \n\n\n\nA non-linear investigation of the complexities and nuances of relationships and the moral boundaries we set: highlighting the different dynamics in LGBTQIA+ relationships while exploring what makes love (and the suffering it causes) a universal experience. \n\n\n\n“Grey Area” takes its space on stage earnestly and honestly in response to two contemporary issues: homobitransphobia and ableism. How can a journey of queer love be completely redefined by pain and understanding?

SUMMARY:Post Traumatic Slay Disorder
DESCRIPTION:Post Traumatic Slay Disorder is a dark comedy following twenty-something waitress Kit who moves to London with a fresh diagnosis\, PTSD. \n\n\n\nWhen she isn’t pretending to be famous on the tube\, she’s hoping she’ll collapse on the restaurant floor and never have to work again. Living in a generation that navigates mental illness through TikTok trends\, Kit is THE main character and sitting down with her demons has never been cuter. If she doesn’t laugh\, she’ll cry (and probably take a picture of it).

DESCRIPTION:Consider this as your life transformation starter pack. \n\n\n\nIn this free Self-Renewal Summit\, you will learn how to unlearn toxic belief systems and burdens you’ve been carrying\, discover who you truly are\, and become that person in your everyday life. This summit is for anyone who is ready to answer the call of their own potential in a way that has a lasting impact on their lives. Topics covered include Plant medicine (cannabis\, microdosing\, ayahausca and psilocybin)\, human design\, deconstructing late-stage capitalism in our lives and psyches\, grief and trauma healing\, tarot\, handling intensity and giftedness through an IFS lens\, rediscovering our own gender spectrum\, understanding right livelihood and how to make a living while keeping your integrity\, somatic healing\, holistic sexuality and sex positivity\, and embodying a place of surrender within ourselves. Each of these experts presents a new mechanism to support you through making deeply healing and transformative life changes. \n\n\n\nYour life can be so much more balanced\, healed\, and full of joy. You have to show up for yourself to initiate your transformation journey. We’ll do the rest. \n\n\n\nStarting July 24th\, this free\, 4-day livestream event presents 16 speakers — from somatic healers\, renegade economists\, tarot and human design visionaries\, microdosing and cannabis experts\, sexual wellness and IFS therapists\, grief/trauma and embodiment coaches\, and sustainability pioneers – who will share their guidance to create space for you to reimagine what your life can look like. \n\n\n\nSpeakers include Luis Mojica (@holistic.life.navigation)\, Fanny Priest (@the.trauma.witch)\, Eli Lawliet (@thegenderdoula)\, Dr. Amanda Reiman (@dr.amandareiman)\, Ana Maria Badila (@microdosingguru)\, Dr. Juliana Hauser (@drjulianahauser)\, Kelsey Rose Tortorice (@kelseyrosetort)\, Wendy Kornburg (@sunnabis)\, Julie Ewald (@identityyoga_)\, Dr. Stephanie Najjar\, Lex Ritchie (@thelexritchie)\, Adrienne Sloan (@adrienne_sloan)\, Della Duncan (@dellazduncan/@upstreampodcast)\, Dr. Crystal Dawn (@drcrystaldawn) and more. \n\n\n\nThese visionaries will share their expertise on the different ways to peel back the layers of conditioning we’ve all been exposed to (spoiler – if you’re alive in 2023 and reading this\, you’ve been exposed) so we can remember who we truly are and begin to live the lives we’ve been called to embody. From PhDs to healers to chefs to sexperts and more\, they have assembled to create a web of support that takes you from the life of convention and inertia into a life that’s liberated and filled with your unique purpose. If you like the status quo\, this is not a summit for you. If you’re tired of following the rules\, working too hard and becoming more “successful” while feeling more depleted than ever\, or feel like life went greyscale while you were tending to your to-do list and want the technicolour dreams of your future back\, this is your place\, and these are your people. \n\n\n\nAbout Omnia Network: Omnia Network is a brand-new online learning platform that features expert-vetted information on holistic wellness topics such as psychedelics\, sexual wellness\, green living\, grief and trauma healing\, tarot and human design\, somatic healing\, and more. The live workshops\, intensives\, and community meetups cover a variety of wellness topics that have often been deemed unconventional and taboo\, which is why reliable\, authoritative knowledge in these areas can be difficult to find until now. All the experts are respected leaders and authorities in their field\, making guidance on these sacred and oftentimes vulnerable subjects all the more impactful and trustworthy. Omnia makes learning about these areas of transformation accessible\, affordable\, and straightforward – they light the path back to one’s true self. \n\n\n\nAbout Omnia’s Founder\, Allison Mandell: She is the CEO and Founder of Omnia Network and has herself been burnt to a crisp working as an Executive Producer in television for 15 years\, focusing primarily on diverse and female-led content\, with emphasis on comedy\, adventure\, travel\, food\, and renovation television. When she wasn’t working\, she was completely devoted to her spiritual life and is no stranger to workshops in every area of spirituality\, sustainability\, and healing. By combining her skills from TV production with her love of workshops and transformative healing studies\, Omnia Network was the best way for her to engage both her heart and her mind in her life purpose. After recognizing that the systems in place would not support a healthy work/life balance\, and after reaching the pinnacle of her industry and feeling more depleted and unfulfilled than ever\, she recognized that it was time to build the very thing she needed: a safe community to unlearn oppressive structures so she could relearn who she really is and bring that essence into the world. And thus\, Omnia was born. Allison is a female leader not only in a gnarly\, heavily male-dominated television industry\, but she is also pioneering in making expert-led\, online learning for holistic wellness accessible. \n\n\n\nEvent Highlights: \n\n\n\nTransformative Keynote Presentations: Renowned experts and visionaries will share their insights\, experiences\, and strategies for transforming one’s life\, providing attendees with impactful knowledge and inspiration to make actionable changes that lead to a more authentic and meaningful life – that can begin today. \n\n\n\nDirect Expert Feedback: Participants can ask these groundbreaking experts direct questions on how to integrate different healing modalities into their life and get real-time responses – all for free. \n\n\n\nDiscover A Community: Connect with like-minded folks who want the same things you do – to change their lives in a way that provides space for one’s authentic purpose\, weirdness\, and joy. \n\n\n\nExclusive Access: Gain access to exclusive prerecorded workshops\, resources\, research\, and tools to help disrupt the disempowering patterns in one’s life and replace them with self-discovery and embodied aliveness. \n\n\n\nRegistration for The Self-Renewal Summit is now open; to learn more about the event\, explore the speakers\, and secure your spot\, visit http://www.omnianetwork.com.
