Streaming forth a ceaseless torrent of releases\, side projects\, art offerings and extensive international touring since 2002\, Xiu Xiu’s music has veered from damaged avant-pop to artfully orchestrated rock\, squalls of black-hearted noise and most bases around and between\, ever-served with bruising honesty and intensity that has ripped out the hearts of a legion of obsessive listeners. \n\n\n\nThis March\, the band returns with a devastatingly macabre\, appropriately cacophonous new album\, Ignore Grief\, due for release on Polyvinyl. The current iteration of Xiu Xiu includes existing members Jamie Stewart and Angela Seo\, now joined by an old friend and new member\, David Kendrick (Sparks\, Devo\, Gleaming Spires). ‘Ignore Gried’ is an album of halves. Angela Seo sings on half of the record. Jamie Stewart sings on half of the record. Half of the songs are experimental industrial. Half of the songs are experimental modern classical. Half of it is real. Half of it is imaginary. Xiu has spent twenty years grappling with how to process\, be empathetic towards\, disobey and reorganize horror; there is no other word for it other than horror.http://www.xiuxiu.org/ \n\n\n\nME LOST ME delights in experimenting with songwriting and storytelling\, creating a beguiling mix of soaring vocals and atmospheric electronics that playfully push the boundaries of genre. Led by Newcastle-based artist Jayne Dent who takes influence from folk\, art pop\, noise\, ambient and improvised music\, the project has transformed since 2017 from a solo endeavour to an expanded group\, regularly collaborating with acclaimed North-East jazz musicians Faye MacCalman and John Pope. Me Lost Me’s music has been described in The Guardian as “stripping folk back to its bones while letting its future echoes bleed out” and by BBC Radio 6’s Tom Robinson as a “brilliant peculiar noise”. SUMMARY:Wasted Youth MOTH Club
DESCRIPTION:Wasted Youth play music that is “energetic\, psychedelic\, prone to semi-improvised and chaotic detours…combined with a selection of melodic and memorable tunes” (Billboard\, 2024). “The original Wasted Youth\, were probably one of the best bands to come out of post punk East London” (Louder Than War\, 2022). \nThey were hugely popular as the Eighties dawned with punks looking for something more sexy and sophisticated and looked set to become much more than the cult band they became. They pre-dated Post Punk and Goth and are still remembered as quietly-influential and a superb live band by fans. Their 1981 album ‘Wild and Wandering’ is widely considered to be an overlooked classic which has sold in excess of 25\,000 copies in its lifetime. \nWasted Youth return to The Moth Club having played a sell-out show there in June 2024. They will be promoting their new album ‘Neo Noir”.\nSpecially invited support act for the evening is Jamie Perrett\, a good friend and amazing singer/musician/performer\, who you really need to see! The DJ for the night is the wonderful Jeffrey Munday\, who will be playing a selection of toe-tapping favourites and some obscure gems. \nThis is Wasted Youth’s only London appearance this year so make sure you get your fix at The Moth Club on Thursday\, July 24. This promises to be a night to remember\, so don’t miss it!
