SUMMARY:Don Quixote: Where Passion\, Fire and Every Body Takes the Stage - London Theatre
DESCRIPTION:London Ballet Theatre brings Don Quixote to London this May\, and if you have ever thought that ballet is not for you\, this is the production that will change your mind entirely. \nLondon Ballet Theatre is not like other ballet companies. Built on the belief that dance belongs to everybody\, LBT opens its stage to dancers of all backgrounds\, ages\, abilities\, and body types. There is no body shaming here\, no impossible physical ideal to conform to\, no single vision of what a dancer must look like. LBT Pro brings together accomplished professional artists performing at the very highest level\, while LBT Community welcomes dancers of every experience and ability into the same creative family. Both share the same stage\, the same passion\, and the same conviction that everyone has a role. This is what #ForDancersByDancers truly means\, and you will feel it the moment the curtain rises. \nOn stage\, Don Quixote is pure joy. Set to Minkus’s irresistible\, endlessly energetic score\, it is one of the most vibrant and exhilarating ballets in the classical repertoire: a story of romance\, adventure\, comedy\, and the magnificent stubbornness of the human spirit. LBT’s production is performed with breathtaking passion and technical brilliance\, and it has been crafted to be as thrilling for a first-time audience as it is for a lifelong ballet devotee. \nWhat makes this production truly distinctive is the way it brings the story to life. Video narrations introduce each scene before the dancing begins\, gently and engagingly guiding every audience member into Cervantes’s world so that no one ever feels lost or excluded. Cinematic projections form a vivid\, atmospheric backdrop throughout\, transporting the audience to the sun-drenched plazas and golden landscapes of Spain. The result is a seamless and spellbinding fusion of live ballet\, film and visual artistry that feels unlike anything else currently on the London stage. \nThis season is presented in proud cooperation with the Lord Mayor of Westminster and the British Film Festival. London Ballet Theatre is a sell-out company\, and audiences are warmly encouraged to secure their tickets early. \nWhether you are bringing someone to their very first ballet\, looking for a spectacular and unusual evening out\, or searching for a performance that genuinely reflects the diversity and spirit of this city\, Don Quixote at London Ballet Theatre is your answer. \nLooking to hire Dancers for your Next Events. Music for London has a dedicated dancers for hire category.

SUMMARY:Lambslaughter
DESCRIPTION:“[Lambslaughter] captures the strange intensity of teenage consciousness with an honesty that feels almost documentary. It does not sentimentalise girlhood. It remembers it.” A Young(ish) Perspective \nFollowing a critically acclaimed\, sold-out run at Playhouse East\, the award-winning Lambslaughter lands at the King’s Head Theatre for one night only. \nSet in a Catholic girls’ school in Merseyside in 2013\, the play follows two sixth-formers\, Chloe and Jade\, and their increasingly blurred relationship with their English teacher\, Mr Barrett. In the absence of parental supervision and under the influence of social media—personified by the vitriolic\, anonymous Twitter account @OurLadyProbz—the girls navigate a world failing to care for them with razor-sharp wit that masks a growing desperation. \nLambslaughter is a searing\, unsettling exploration of girlhood\, power\, and survival at the dawn of the smartphone age. \n“The ensemble maintains a tone of startling realism throughout. The acting is extraordinary in its restraint and credibility.” A Young(ish) Perspective

SUMMARY:Mirrors - When Silence Breaks\, Hope Rises
DESCRIPTION:MIRRORS by Ada Tsesmeli Edwards. Twice awarded by the Cultural Centre of Northern Greece for Playwright & Direction. About the performance: There comes a moment in life when each of us must look into the mirror and face our own reflection. But how ready are we to truly confront what we see? \nAnd what happens when the shadows of others blur the image before us? Mirrors is a deeply human and profoundly timely play about the truth of existence – a lyrical yet powerful exploration of the essence of life. \nThree women\, in three different cities: in New York\, Linda Anderson\, a bank employee; in Thessaloniki\, Corinna Papadaki\, an office worker; and in Rome\, Malena Conti\, a lyrical mezzo-soprano. \nEach stands before the dead end of an unfulfilled and empty life. Time\, memory\, and the fragile balances of their personalities reveal that those who once defined them are now nothing more than shadows in the mirror of their souls. \nThrough a painful yet liberating journey\, the three heroines reach a place of redemption. They find the strength to shed everything that distorts their reflection. Mirrors illuminate – with both grace and intensity – the fragments of memory we consciously or unconsciously push toward oblivion. For the closer one dares to approach their own mirror\, the more dangerous and courageous the journey becomes.

SUMMARY:Never Tell Me The Odds
DESCRIPTION:Never Tell Me The Odds is set on Christmas Eve in a private London rehab. Three days sober and fraying at the seams\, Maddy is stuck in a place where the lights are fluorescent\, the tree is dull\, and connection is both the threat and the cure. When ghosts from her past come crashing through the walls – the married man she nearly ruined herself for\, the soft-hearted friend she almost loved\, the night she almost stepped into traffic – Maddy is forced to confront the life she was desperate to disappear from. \nIn a room full of strangers\, she must decide whether to keep haunting the living while conversing with the dead\, or to claw her way back to reality. Never Tell Me The Odds is a raw\, sharply funny drama about addiction\, the unbearable weight of being seen\, and the terrifying hope of staying alive long enough for things to get better.

SUMMARY:SOLO
DESCRIPTION:– Where fame seduces\, identity fractures\, and silence becomes the scream – \nSOLO is an intimate exploration of how trauma\, mental health\, and obsession—combined with isolation and a culture increasingly focused on material success and popularity—can fragment and erode a person’s identity\, slowly pulling them into an unstoppable downward spiral. \nBlending physical theatre\, surrealism\, clowning\, and poetic storytelling\, SOLO is a gripping and visually striking one-person show that takes you deep into the mind of an artist struggling to survive in a world obsessed with fame\, perfection\, and digital validation. As mechanisation strips us of our essence\, we drift further from our own nature\, disconnecting from ourselves and others in pursuit of an artificially constructed Nirvana—an illusion of success and recognition that demands the ultimate sacrifice: truly living. Raw\, darkly funny\, and thought-provoking\, SOLO is perfect for anyone who loves powerful storytelling\, psychological drama\, and socially relevant themes. If you’ve ever questioned your place in the world or felt the weight of society’s expectations\, this show will speak to you. Ideal for theatre lovers\, young creatives\, and anyone fascinated by identity\, ambition\, and the cost of chasing a dream. \n“Beautiful. Haunting.” – Mack Velle\, filmmaker\, writer and producer (NYC)\n“Unflinching\, visually arresting and painfully human.” -Fritz Leonard Bücker\, theatre director and producer (BER) \nACTOR | Duccio Baldasseroni\nPLAYWRIGHT | Duccio Baldasseroni\nSCRIPT EDITOR | Adam Martin\nDIRECTOR | Adam Martin\nMOVEMENT COORDINATOR | Elena Zucker\nPRODUCER | Duccio Baldasseroni

We observe a group of Synthents who have been bred for one sole purpose: to entertain. \nUnder The Generact Programme\, our Synthents are the vessel for the retelling of Legends and Tales\, imposed to perform under the unrelenting gaze of observers\, critics and opportunists. Our group journey’s through the miseries and rapture of life as an artist and how an audience fuel the unyielding compulsion for performance. As they navigate the ecstasy and misery of their imposed vocation\, the line between actor and character begins to blur. Who is watching\, and why? And what happens when the story refuses to end? \nPart 1 of The Generact Trilogy: “The Legend” (formerly Twisted Tales) is a “visually stunning” Platform Theatre piece created by Box House Theatre Company. A cast of six actors are confined within the parameters of a Platform with nothing but the physical arsenal of body and voice to bring four legends which all end with a twist to life. \nStripped-down\, high-impact theatre seen on stages all over the globe — this is dystopia reimagined that echoes the dark brilliance for fans of 1984\, The Hunger Games\, and Black Mirror.

SUMMARY:Goodnight Maharajah
DESCRIPTION:GOODNIGHT MAHARAJAH is a brand new stage production based on the extraordinary life of Maharajah Duleep Singh — the last King of Punjab and youngest child of Maharajah Ranjit Singh. \nCreated by Indofuturist cross-arts innovators ŚŪNYA Company\, this bold and dreamlike new work is coming to The Cockpit for an exclusive work-in-progress performance. \nੴ \nBerlin\, 1893. Victor Duleep Singh is having a restless night. Haunted by the past\, he sees visions of his estranged father — the Maharajah — emerging from an old picture frame. Over the course of the night\, Maharajah Duleep Singh begins to speak. He recounts the journey of his life: being separated from his mother Maharani Jind Kaur\, the loss of the Sikh ☬ Empire to the British while still a child\, his unlikely rise as Queen Victoria’s ‘favourite’\, and\, after returning to his roots\, the resistance campaign he orchestrated  — one that reached across Europe and beyond. But how does the Maharajah’s version of events square with Victor’s own memories of his father’s neglect and abandonment?\nThis is a story about memory\, identity\, and the fractured legacy of the British Empire. With colonial histories and cultural inheritance still affecting contemporary diaspora\, this innovative production explores the frictions between parent and child\, nation and empire\, truth and illusion. Blending traditional and experimental storytelling\, GOODNIGHT MAHARAJAH unfolds through live electronics and the textured richness of Indian music\, performed live on stage by professional musicians and a community chorus.

SUMMARY:The Death & Life of All of Us
DESCRIPTION:Victor Esses’ The Death & Life of All of Us sold out dates at Soho Theatre and was a hit with audiences and critics at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It is now set for a two-week April run at London’s Camden People’s Theatre. It is the opening show for CPT’s Spring Season and can be seen from 2-6\, April at 7.15pm and 9-13 April at 9pm. \n  \nAt 19\, whilst studying film\, Victor found his long-lost great aunt Marcelle in Rome. She had moved from Lebanon to Italy and converted from Judaism to Christianity\, changed her name and kept a secret for a lifetime. Inspired by her strength and her rebellion\, he started to make a documentary about her life. Twenty years later\, he still hasn’t finished it… \n  \nHaving grappled with her story for so long\, with the benefit of hindsight and his own maturity\, he now feels ready to do that story justice. The Death & Life of All of Us uses the interviews he recorded with Marcelle alongside art projections\, text\, live music and movement. It is a multimedia piece looking into intergenerational shame\, family secrets\, history and what’s left when we’re gone. In this moving performance\, Victor loves Marcelle but doesn’t always like her… \n  \nThe show also takes in Victor’s acceptance of his queerness\, getting past the toxic shame that is handed down to us through the generations. It incorporates stories of those who are represented in his own identity (queer\, migrant\, Jew\, Middle Eastern\, Latin American and other) yet often hidden in society. People are seen as different\, making their unique personal stories completely universal and relatable to our own lives. Esses aims to rewrite history in his own terms and encourage the audience to access their own pasts to do the same. \n  \nVictor invites the audience into his poetic\, intimate\, subtle and warm space that is absorbing and comfortable yet contains moments of gut-punching revelation. He said\, ‘I want the show to invite audiences to understand how\, in a world with so much migration\, rising antisemitism\, xenophobia and queerphobia\, we can all meet together to celebrate that we are all unique and complex\, wonderful and awful. To be human is to be multifaceted and often intersectional’. \n  \nThe Death & Life of All of Us combines intimate storytelling\, text\, Victor’s documentary footage and live music from multi-instrumentalist Enrico Aurigemma. The art installation backdrop was created by co-director and visual artist Yorgos Petrou and choreography was devised by movement director and performance artist Jennifer Jackson. \n  \nVictor Esses is a Jewish-Lebanese Latinx queer theatre-maker\, performance artist and writer. His practice centres nuanced intersectional auto/biographical stories of belonging\, resilience and intimacy\, encouraging audiences to ask questions about what makes us most human. www.victoresses.com \n  \nThe Death & Life of All of Us is supported by Arts Council England with seed commissioning by Camden People’s Theatre. Supported by The Lowry\, Shoreditch Town Hall\, Harlow Playhouse\, JW3\, Manchester Jewish Museum and Soho Theatre. \n  \nThe Death & Life of All of Us will undertake further UK dates later in 2024. \n

SUMMARY:My Lover Was a Salmon in the Climate Apocalypse
DESCRIPTION:An Irish folk gig goes off the rails when one band member turns into a fish. Come for the trad tunes\, stay for the salmon trivia and existential despair: this gig gets weird. \n\n\n\nEverything Theatre ★★★★ “A masterclass of gig theatre” \n\n\n\nFringebiscuit ★★★★ “Informative\, energetic\, divinely absurd […] the music is sublime throughout” \n\n\n\nHumanity’s ruined the ecosystem\, but humanity’s just a dodgy side branch of fish evolution. The solution’s clear – and that’s where the salmon come in. \n\n\n\nFin’s climate anxiety culminates in his thinking he’s a salmon onstage while his girlfriend and bandmate look on in fishy horror. This could be a climate revolution. \n\n\n\nBut being a salmon would put particular stress on everyone’s personal lives. And actually\, that’s a good question to ask: can our relationships survive this overwhelming timeline we’re in at all? (Features salmon.) \n\n\n\nWith live trad music\, FX pedal soundscapes\, global industrial food production\, colonialism\, fish farming\, and probably inevitable ecological destruction? \n\n\n\nWinner of Staging Change x VAULT Award 2022Winner of Axis Green Arts Award (for previous work)

SUMMARY:Happy Deathday
DESCRIPTION:A genuine exploration of “It doesn’t matter\, one day I’ll be dead. Or does it?” will lead us to hilarious deathly shower thoughts\, as well as the simple biology versus the complex poetry of death. Let’s look at diverse rituals from cultures all over the world\, the sustainability and transparency developments of the funeral industry\, and the history that got us where we are! \nThis show was inspired by personal issues with a lack of end of life planning\, and death being a taboo topic many of us are so desperate to talk about. Because one thing is for sure\, we all die eventually\, there is (currently) no way around it\, so let’s talk about it.

SUMMARY:Right Dishonourable Friend
DESCRIPTION:Tony Blair\, Nick Clegg\, Rishi Sunak – She’s hardly the first Southerner to represent a Northern constituency. What she lacks in political experience\, she makes up for in… charm? \n\n\n\nWhen nepotism hire of the year\, Perdita\, is appointed as MP for the fictional Lancashire town of Ardenton\, she thinks that her wealth of social experience and the fact that she’s the former Home Secretary’s Daughter are all the qualifications that she needs; but how wrong she is. \n\n\n\n‘She’s certainly driven’\, ‘Yeah\, driven me over the edge!’. Perdita’s eyes are set on the top of the political ladder\, but when the needs of her constituents start to get in the way\, and she’s faced with the choice of helping a young\, queer constituent who’s in desperate need of support or her own political ambitions\, which will she choose? \n\n\n\nDebuting at VAULT Festival 2023\, this hilarious yet bittersweet dark comedy is an urgent piece of theatre that shines a spotlight on the ever-prevalent North/South divide. \n\n\n\nWritten by Eoin McKenna & Phoebe Batteson-Brown \n\n\n\n14th-18th February 2023\, 8 pm (7.30 pm on 18th)\, VAULT Festival. £13 Tickets.
