DESCRIPTION:The Music for Youth Proms are back for a two-day musical extravaganza. Two special evening concerts will bring 3\,000 young musicians from across the country back together for a spectacular concert like no other: full-scale symphony orchestras are showcased alongside some of the best young jazz bands\, chamber groups\, bands and singer-songwriters from across the UK; and a unique specially produced Massed Ensemble of over 400 musicians. \nThe Proms will feature a collaborative project for up to 2\,000 young people led by Music for Youth Music Mentor\, Adey Grummet and composed by celebrated musical director and composer Michael Henry\, with performances to support and encourage young musicians and music educators. There will be surprise guests and presenters and young people taking part in technical and backstage roles. \nThis is a not-to-be-missed musical celebration for anyone that loves music.

Their self titled debut LP was released in 2020 and was a sleeper hit\, coming in at 35 in the Wire’s top 100 albums of the year and in Bleeps top 10. Eric Chenaux operates among various musical ‘traditions’ but perhaps most broadly\, his records grapple with the relationship between improvisation and structure in very particular\, unique\, idiosyncratic ways – and quite without irony or cynicism\, through love. Because fundamentally\, Chenaux writes love songs\, which he sings in a voice honeyed and clear\, while his guitar gently bends\, frazzes\, chortles\, diverges and decomposes. This juxtaposition of his mellow\, dexterous crooning and his highly experimental (and equally dexterous) guitar explorations\, explodes even unconventional notions of singing and accompaniment\, of tonal and timbral interplay between guitar and voice. \nConstellation has been home to Eric’s “solo” records since 2006 – a brilliant discography of adventurous\, sumptuous\, mostly languorous deconstructed folk\, jazz and pop-influenced balladry rooted in the juxtaposition of Chenaux’s fried guitar playing and his gorgeously clear and lyrical singing voice. Eric’s new album comes out this February and is his most immaculate and pristine. ‘Say Laura’ perfectly incarnates the counter-intuitive interplay of instrument and voice that Chenaux has been revealing and revelling in throughout the past decade: his gently unhinged juxtaposition of resplendently smooth\, seductively assured singing and puckish\, thoroughly destabilized guitar could come from no other musician. DESCRIPTION:It is twenty-one years since David Temple MBE and Hertfordshire Chorus commissioned Will Todd to write a jazz-style mass and twenty years since the first performance of Jazz Mass\, later renamed Mass in Blue. With its upbeat jazz setting of the Latin mass\, it became one of the most successful commissions in modern choral music. Mass in Blue has been sung by hundreds of choirs worldwide\, often accompanied by Will and his band. \n\n\n\nTo celebrate the twentieth anniversary\, we are reuniting with Will on piano\, accompanied by his ensemble and soprano soloist. A party not to be missed! \n\n\n\nWe pair this with Bruckner’s ground-breaking Mass in E Minor. Unlike any other 19th-century liturgical music\, it was written solely for wind band and eight-part choir. It combines the devout simplicity of expression of Italian Renaissance polyphony with Bruckner’s expressive harmonies\, using powerful combinations and contrasts of vocal and instrumental texture to create one of his finest works.

DESCRIPTION:A hugely successful concert tour that has seen thousands of people across the country singing together to turn folk songs into hymns will have a final performance in Camden Town on 14th October as a fundraiser for St Michael’s Church. \n\n\n\nThe critically acclaimed From Pub to Pulpit tour features Camden folk group Broomdasher and The Pagoda Project and has wowed full houses at more than twenty Cathedrals and Festivals\, celebrating Ralph Vaughan Williams’ 150th birthday. St Michael’s in Camden Town will be the only Central London venue of the year-long tour. \n\n\n\nIn the concert\, the audience joined the organ\, choir and two groups in a unique and rousing tribute to Vaughan Williams\, a renowned folk song collector. He borrowed the tunes from some of the working people’s favourite folk songs to use for some of the best hymns in the 1906 English hymn he edited.

Two special and unforgettable evening concerts will showcase full-scale symphony orchestras alongside Irish dancers\, Japanese Taiko drummers\, rock and pop bands\, Jazz ensembles\, and some of the best young singer-songwriters from the UK. \n\n\n\nThis year’s theme will centre on a national campaign #thankyourmusicteacher\, to celebrate inspiring music teachers and how music brings us all together. \n\n\n\nThe Proms will feature its biggest creative project\, with a medley of songs written by radio presenter\, composer and Music for Youth Ambassador Jack Pepper. The musical is a thank-you note from Jack to his inspiring piano teacher and a celebration of music teachers far and wide. The massed ensemble will feature 2\,500 people and a specially commissioned ‘Family Chorus’ where families nationwide can get involved! \n\n\n\nThere will be surprise guests and solo performances on both nights. Featuring works by Rachmaninoff\, Chopin\, Franck\, and more… \n\n\n\nOutfits by OBI for Corset\, one-of-a-kind Corsets made from Japanese Kimono Obis. \n\n\n\nAbout the Artists: \n\n\n\nSince making her Carnegie Hall debut in 2011\, prize-winning Japanese pianist Rieko Tsuchida has performed internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. Tsuchida made her professional concerto debut in 2011 performing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the California Symphony. Ms. Tsuchida currently lives between New York and Paris\, where she co-founded Ensemble IMAGO\, Ensemble-in-Residence at Fondation des Etats-Unis. Recent performance highlights include her recital debut at Salle Cortot\, Salle Gaveau\, the Eiffel Tower\, and concerts in Chicago\, Washington D.C.\, and New York. Ms. Tsuchida is also the Artistic Director of Classical Music Collection Japan (CMCJ)\, a project funded by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to promote the classical music culture of Japan. She will make her concert debut in Japan with CMCJ this winter in Tokyo’s Oji Hall. Ms. Tsuchida earned her Bachelor of Music Degree at the Peabody Conservatory and her Master of Music Degree at The Juilliard School in the studios of Dr. Matti Raekallio and Joseph Kalichstein. http://www.riekotsuchida.com \n\n\n\nTessa Seymour made her televised Carnegie Hall debut in 2006 and has since been performing internationally as a soloist\, chamber musician\, and orchestral musician. Recent appearances include concerts at Washington DC’s Kennedy Center and the US premiere of Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki’s Suite for Solo Cello at Carnegie Hall. Her performances have been broadcast on WHYY-TV\, PBS\, as well as NPR\, TEDTalks\, VICE News\, BBC 3\, and WRTI radio\, and she released her debut duo album with pianist Rieko Tsuchida in 2022. Born in California\, she attended the Curtis Institute of Music at age 16\, and joined the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House in 2022. Tessa’s cello is the 1720 Testore “Camilla” of Milan. \n\n\n\nNote: Please ensure no stilettos are worn in the venue as it damage the soft wooden floors. DESCRIPTION:Looking to the future with three UK premieres\n\n\n\nLondon Sinfonietta travels to the future with three UK premieres and a favourite past commission. Sky Macklay’s Microvariations will lull you into a false sense of tonality before whisking you on a whistle-stop\, microtonal tour of 19th Century European orchestras\, “a fast-forward and transcontinental sonic truncation and fantasy on” the journey of British conductor George Thomas Smart and his tuning fork in 1825. In George Lewis’ lively Tales of the Traveller\, the eponymous hero travels the limits of imagination: the piece allows a soloist total free reign to improvise against a notated ensemble part.
