SUMMARY:The Poetry Brothel: Feed the fire with my fear
DESCRIPTION:The Poetry Brothel is a sanctuary for the misfits\, the dreamers\, the beautifully strange souls of London. In this idiosyncratic temple\, you’ll encounter a cast of characters birthed from the deepest corners of our poets’ minds. For a modest token\, our poets will invite you into their worlds\, offering a one-on-one experience that is uniquely yours – a taste of genuine connection\, a glimpse into the raw and untamed heart of humanity\, delivered through poetry that is as experimental as it is intimate\, as messy as it is real. \nFEED THE FIRE WITH MY FEAR \nStep into a realm where shadows dance with truth\, and every word peels back the layers of our collective anxieties. At this immersive spoken word event\, poets beckon you into a labyrinth of thought\, where personal and collective dreads intertwine\, where the world and its illusions are delicately unraveled. Here\, fear is both a mirror and a mask—a force that shapes\, binds\, and distorts. Yet\, within the verses lies a challenge: to confront the abyss\, to find authenticity amidst chaos\, and to reclaim the fragmented self. This night is not just a performance but a philosophical journey\, a ritual of words that invites you to question the narratives you hold dear and to discover what lies beyond the veil of fear.

DESCRIPTION:Ceci n’est pas un cabaret surréaliste \n\n\n\nAn evening of surreal delights featuring performers from the UK’s cabaret and alternative comedy scenes. Expect comedy\, music and unusual interactive treats. \n\n\n\nFeaturing: \n\n\n\nAndrew O’Neill \n\n\n\nAndrew O’Neill is an award-winning comedian\,  musician and best-selling writer. A psychedelic non-binary whirlwind\, they combine surrealism\, polemic and good old-fashioned stagecraft to produce uniquely counter-cultural stand-up. Andrew has performed in over a dozen countries at over a hundred festivals. He is equally at home in rowdy comedy clubs as performing to their own cult following. \n\n\n\nThey co-wrote and starred in the occult Radio 4 sitcom Damned Andrew and will be appearing in Good Omens 2 this Summer. \n\n\n\nThe Wrong Numba \n\n\n\nCreator and host of the delightfully bizarre The Wrong Channel (Brighton Fringe)\, this “wackily gifted auteur” (Argus) bring her larger-than-life personality and surreal observations to amuse and bemuse. \n\n\n\nMichael Brunström \n\n\n\nMichael Brunström is an alternative comedian\, winner of the Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality and member of the Weirdos Comedy Collective. SUMMARY:Right Of Way @ VAULT Festival
DESCRIPTION:‘I don’t remember where I am when I decide to walk. Maybe the idea creeps up on me over time – born somewhere within me the first time I saw the sea. \n\n\n\nLike osmosis\, the thought it soaks into my skin and lies in wait until I cry it out as a single teardrop. Glistening\, shimmering\, and whole – it falls out of my subconscious and into my knowledge. \n\n\n\nThe know\, the knowing\, that I need to walk.’ \n\n\n\nRIGHT OF WAY is a response to writer Beth Bowden’s experience of becoming a Young Carer. It follows a young woman walking the South West Coast path\, documenting her journey of 100+ miles in the face of grief & exhaustion. It is a reflection on bodies\, chronic illness\, loss and joy. Using innovative multimedia projection and exploring natural materials and movement\, this new play aims to kickstart conversations about disability and chronic illness. \n\n\n\nDATES \n\n\n\n21st – 24th February\, 20:00 \n\n\n\n25th – 26th February\, 19:30 \n\n\n\n26th February\, 16:40 \n\n\n\nLOCATION \n\n\n\nThe Cage\, The Vaults\, Leake Street\, London SE1 7NN \n\n\n\nTICKETS \n\n\n\nTickets available from £13.50 via https://vaultfestival.com/performances/right-of-way/

SUMMARY:Live Art by Debbie Baxter at The Brunswick Art Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Live Art at the Brunswick Art Gallery.\nThe Brunswick Art Gallery is thrilled to announce that celebrated artist Debbie Baxter will be creating a live painting demonstration in the window of the Gallery for September. The public will admire her incredible work as it comes to life and asks her questions about her style\, inspiration\, and work ethic. In addition\, Debbie Baxter is our first artist to partake in our ‘Art Is In The Window’ live exhibition event that will run over the coming months. \nDebbie studied at the St Albans School of Art and grew up surrounded by the English Countryside. She studied under Daniel Samuels\, an international artist who painted exceptional Greek mythological pieces and more recently\, the artist Christiane Kubrick\, widow of film director Stanley. Debbie has a particular interest in trees and is fascinated by their majesty of shape and design. She lived for eight years in Indonesia\, where colour is striking and vivid\, which taught her never to be afraid of the wide variety of hues nature offers.

SUMMARY:Must-See Online Events at Lunchmeat Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Czech Centre London Cooperates with Lunchmeat Festival 2020\nThe Czech Centre London has teamed up with Prague’s Lunchmeat Festival\, an annual international festival dedicated to advanced electronic music and new media\, to present three must-see online events:\n– LUNCHMEAT x FACT: SAM ROLFES (360° AV experience) on 25 September\n– ETHNO SERVICE & ŠTĚPÁN MARKO (AV live) on 1 October\n– NIVVA (AV live) on 3 October \n25 September – Lunchmeat x Fact: Sam Rolfes 360° AV experience \nLunchmeat Festival and Fact Magazine join forces for an online event with acclaimed digital artist and director Sam Rolfes. The online performance is an audiovisual “tour de force” through his exceptional and extravagant mutant visual style\, which you’ll recognise from unmistakeable video and still image projects for artists including Amnesia Scanner\, Danny L Harle and Caroline Polachek.\nThanks to the grant given by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic\,\, everyone can enjoy 360° AV experience FOR FREE. The result of Sam Rolfes’s residency Fact Magazine\, a bizarre 360˚ online video can be seen with cardboard VR glasses or a VR headset.\nSam Rolfes is a Chicago and New York based mixed-format digital artist and director who has been called “L’Enfant terrible of digital arts” by Clot Magazine. He uses the human body as a mark making device and underlying structure\, crafting diffusive psychosexual worlds that sublimate space and identity. His work examines the mutability and malleability of flesh\, incorporating surreal performances through the lens of contemporary portraiture. He has worked with Danny Brown\, Rihanna and Squarepusher\, as well as making live 3D visuals for Evian Christ\, Mumdance\, Lightning Bolt\, and Teengirl Fantasy.\nSupported by Czech Centre London \n*** TO ENJOY THE 360° AV EXPERIENCE\, YOU WILL NEED CARDBOARD VR GLASSES*** \n1 October – Ethno Service & Štěpán Marko (AV live)\nCoorganised by Czech Centre London \nIf you like techno tinted with a dubby atmosphere then look no further. Tracks by Ethno Service are filled with thrill\, suspense and trippy haze\, which create an amazing cinematic ambience. Despite their name\, ES is not an ethno music cliché. It is proper heavyweight percussive dub from the jungle – where Mowgli would piss his pants and run away screaming – places with decent opium and streets with no name.\nFor the very first time Ethno Service will be accompanied by their own distinctive visuals\, which develops their language even further. At the beginning there was the Dusk. The Dusk was a Haze. The Haze was a Sound. That was the beginning. Moments of strobe light\, dripping from the ceiling. Over time\, the first clusters of Latin information wrapped in Sanskrit robes began to form from Arabic numerals. With six-sided pressure\, it first liquefied and later solidified. The primitive Artifact. There was a delicate movement on the temple floor. The small fossil card slowly slides toward the altar. Pure energy flows through the sonically engraved lettering. Ethno Service\, at your service. \n3 October – NIVVA (AV live)\n(World premiere)\nCo-organised by Czech Centre London\nVirtual musician or digital being? Or both? NIVVA is a music/an artwork from Prague\, Czech Republic. What sets it apart from other music bands is that the main face of this project is a digital avatar. NIVVA’s debut EP\, called EASY\, was released by Czech record label Bad Names (Margo\, Sundays on Clarendon Road) in February 2020.\nFour minimalist electronic songs on Easy EP tell stories of exploring the limits of intimacy and what happens when a digital avatar breaks the character. The upcoming work talks about the future of artificial intelligence and how the algorithms that surround us on a daily basis affect our lives. NIVVA hasn’t performed live yet\, Lunchmeat festival helps with the premiere of her first audiovisual show. \nAbout Czech Centre London:\nThe Czech Centre’s mission is to actively promote the Czech Republic by showcasing Czech culture\, innovations and creativity in the UK. Its programme covers arts\, film\, literature\, music\, architecture\, design and fashion\, science\, innovation and technology. The Centre also seeks to further enhance mutual relationships between the UK and the Czech Republic through curatorial visits\, media tours and artistic residencies; aiming to generate creative dialogue among artists\, scholars and scientists & innovators from both countries. The Czech Centre London opened in 1993 and is part of a worldwide network of 24 Czech Centres operating in 21 countries and on three continents. The Czech Centre is a member of EUNIC.\nhttp://www.czechcentre.org.uk \nAbout Lunchmeat festival:\nLunchmeat Festival is an annual international festival dedicated to advanced electronic music and new media art based in Prague\, Czech Republic.
