SUMMARY:Restless // A one hour punk theatre gig
DESCRIPTION:‘Appropriately furious…a howl against abuse that somehow everyone can sing along to‘ – audience member \nAre you angry? This band is angry. Come as you are\, and bring anyone with you who needs an outlet to shout at the sky. Restless might be the most necessary hour in your week. \nRestless brings together the loose ends of a rage that we feel but don’t quite know what to do with and weaves it into a collective chord of F*** YOU\, DO SOMETHING. \nKind of like a guided meditation\, except if it had been made by The Sex Pistols and shouted through loudhailers. \nThe music pulls no punches; it’s raw and visceral and urgent\, but crafted too – both in the lyrics (simultaneously catchy and rich) and the skill of the performers including the co-composers Quinta (Collectress\, Bat For Lashes) and the inimitable Thomas Johnson. \nAll the staples of classic 70s punk are here – thumping drums\, driving riffs\, sweary vocals smashed through fuzzing amps – along with some folkier finesse from fiddles and intricate solos. \nBut the real power comes from where the music takes the room. The set list leads the audience through a building narrative from abuse\, to anger and\, ultimately\, action – all informed by the direct experiences of frontwoman and lyricist Viv Gordon. \n‘I didn’t know how much I needed that. It was as angry as I am but then joyous and beautiful all at the same time. I’m crying. It’s gonna take me a while to come down’ – audience member \n–things to know– \n\nRestless is created\, convened and performed by Viv Gordon\, a campaigner & survivor-activist grounded in her lived experience of Child Sexual Abuse\nThis is a safer space for anyone aged 18 + with considerate lighting\, relaxed environment and wellbeing support available\nThis is a Work in Progress Sharing. It is a supportive event about testing new work.\nIt’s f***ing brilliant\n\n\nEVENT DETAILS \nThursday 11th July\nMorley College\, Westminster Bridge Road\, London SE1 7HT\nTimings: Doors 7pm. Gig 7.30-8.30pm. Venue closes 9pm.\nAge 18 +

SUMMARY:Sunk Into the Earth
DESCRIPTION:What do you do when your ex-situationship appears after six years in prison for killing her sister’s husband? You invite her and all your friends over and hope for the best\, right? Sunk Into the Earth opens to reveal a cozy get-together with a tight-knit group of friends\, properly enjoying their weekly pizza-and-wine-night\, until we discover that one of the group has just been released from prison for murdering her sister’s abusive husband. As the play unfolds\, the characters grapple with their relationships and complex history with one another\, prompting deeper thought on the devastating impacts of domestic violence\, the uniqueness of female friendships\, and the intricacies of queer relationships. A love story set against the violent backdrop of an unspeakable act of sisterly devotion\, Sunk Into the Earth is deeply honest in confronting the abyss inside us all. SUMMARY:The Art of Mini Golf – Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:An exhibition of rebellion and play for the curious\, the competitive\, and anyone bold enough to swing outside the lines.\nPlay your way through nine adventurous mini-golf holes\, each designed by a leading woman artist\, as you explore the game’s subversive history. \nArtist\, filmmaker and writer Miranda July (All Fours) goes ‘All Fores’ for the project. Kaylene Whiskey sets course with pop icons woven through Anangu culture. Tokyo’s Saeborg unleashes latex creatures of cartoonish menace\, Delaine Le Bas squares the circle\, and Natasha Tontey entwines speculative storytelling with mythology\, technology\, and alternative histories. Atlanta rapper BKTHERULA joins sound artist Kate Miller to make swamp flowers bloom. Australian duo Soda Jerk open an algorithmic K-hole\, and prolific photographer Pat Brassington dives headfirst. \nOnly the most audacious artists are here because mini golf itself was born of rebellion. The game was originally invented by 19th-century Scottish women who were banned from ‘real’ courses but refused to sit on the sidelines. \nPick your putter. It’s art that fills the cup.
