SUMMARY:Silent Scores: Celebrating Female Composers
DESCRIPTION:The Bosmans ensemble will provide a feast of unjustly neglected string quartets by female composers of the 19th and 20th century. Forgotten enchanting compositions played by leading London musicians with animated introduction by Marina Solarek will path the way into the music and lives of Ethel Smyth – an active member of the suffragettes\, Fanny Mendelssohn – more than just the sister of Felix Mendelssohn\, Henriette Bosmans – composer of jewish heritage who lived through the nazi invasion in Amsterdam\, Rebecca Clarke – one of the first female member of the Queens hall Orchestra\, the romantic german composer Emily Mayer and Germaine Tailleferre – the only female member of  the famous group of french composers named “les six”. \nIs another generation growing up not finding out about the musical magic these women? There are so many female composers who have written not only huge amounts of chamber music but also mountains of symphonic works. It was immensely difficult for women to get their works published during their lifetimes. The Bosmans Ensemble has dedicated itself to uncover the unjustly forgotten music by so many outstanding female composers from 18th – 20th Centuries. \nBosmans Ensemble: \nViolins: Marina Solarek/Clare Hoffmann \nViola: Catarina Silva\, \nCello: Miriam Lowbury

SUMMARY:Gigi Wilde presents 'Life at the Kitchen Table'
DESCRIPTION:Gigi Wilde presents‘Life at the Kitchen Table’ : a raw and cinematic body of work from the London based alternative musician. \nLive with a full band for the first time\, expect an immersive performance that pulls apart and questions what it is to be alive. \n“Each song is about a different moment that has happened at or around a kitchen table – think less about cooking\, and more about those intimate moments that happen in the home (or away). It’s where you eat and drink\, it’s where you go first thing in the morning and often are there late into the night. It’s where you fight\, console\, love and everything in between” \nThe song themes range from to grief\, to anger\, to heatbreak and celebration. It’s tied together by a threading narrative of inspecting the intimate space that is the heart of home. \nThis gig is a showcase of Gigi’s world building and community \nThanks in advance to \nGoodtwin \nFull Tilt Media Hire \nSt Matthias Church

SUMMARY:Nerina Pallot – The All Roads Lead To Tour
DESCRIPTION:Nerina Pallot – All Roads Lead To Tour \nNerina Pallot is one of the UK’s most quietly extraordinary singer-songwriters. Across eight albums\, she has built a body of work that is deeply honest\, musically adventurous\, and completely her own. A Brit and Ivor Novello nominee\, she’s collaborated with artists as commercial as Kylie Minogue\, yet it’s her solo work\, fiercely intimate and unflinchingly human\, that has earned her a devoted following. \nA spellbinding live performer and multi-instrumentalist\, Pallot’s shows are never the same twice. Whether she’s behind a piano or switching between guitars\, she plays with both precision and freedom\, weaving stories and humour through songs that shift seamlessly from heartbreak to hilarity. Her last major London show at the iconic Palladium sold out\, a testament to the emotional force of her live performances. \nHer haunting cover of Love Will Tear Us Apart introduced her to a new generation of listeners when it featured in the acclaimed TV series Normal People\, going viral and reaffirming her gift for reinventing familiar songs with startling emotional clarity. \nThe All Roads Lead To tour is Pallot at her most raw and direct: one woman\, a piano\, a guitar\, and songs drawn from across her 25 year career. From grassroots venues to beautiful old theatres in towns that don’t often get shows like this\, these performances are a celebration of connection\, between artist and audience\, between songs and the stories that shaped them. \nWhether you’ve been with her since Dear Frustrated Superstar or Fires\, or you’re only just arriving\, all roads lead to here.

SUMMARY:The Balanas Sisters: live at The Mildmay Club
DESCRIPTION:Having grown up in the small Latvian town of Dobele\, Kristine and Margarita Balanas moved to the UK in their teens. Since studying together at the Royal Academy of Music in London\, they have performed together at New York’s Carnegie Hall\, the Sydney Opera House\, Berlin Philharmonie\, and London’s Royal Albert Hall\, Barbican\, and Royal Festival Hall. \nThis performance\, their first since signing a record deal with Decca Classics\, is an intimate exploration of duet repertoire for violin and cello. Taking place in Newington Green’s iconic working people’s club The Mildmay Club\, the programme centres around compositions by Maurice Ravel and fellow Latvian Peteris Vasks\, complimented by new arrangements of George Frideric Handel and Antonio Vivaldi made specially for The Balanas Sisters. \nRavel’s Sonata for Violin and Cello features at the heart of the evening. Written in memoriam of Claude Debussy\, it finds common aesthetic ground with Vasks’ Castillo Interior\, a meditative and spiritual piece inspired by the writings of St Teresa of Ávila. It’s a journey of discovery that mirrors the sisters’ own path in music\, a theme of personal reflection which links together all the music in the programme at this one-off London show.

SUMMARY:The Long Play Sessions - Melissa Auf der Maur - Even the Good Girls Will Cry - Book Launch & Discussion

Each session opens a window into the stories behind the art – blending conversation\, cultural insight and lived experience. \nIn Even the Good Girls Will Cry\, Auf der Maur offers a clear‑eyed\, fiercely honest account of her unexpected ascent through one of the most iconic\, turbulent periods in modern rock history. From her beginnings in Montreal’s bohemian music scene\, to joining Hole at a time of grief and reinvention\, to performing alongside figures such as Courtney Love\, Billy Corgan\, Dave Grohl\, Rufus Wainwright and Michael Stipe\, her memoir captures the chaos\, beauty and brutality of the last analogue decade. \nFar from nostalgia\, Auf der Maur explores identity\, ambition\, survival and self‑expression in an era before social media – when artists crafted their worlds long before they crafted their online personas. Her reflections offer rare female perspectives from within a landscape that was often mythologised but rarely shown through a woman’s eyes. \nWith praise from Shirley Manson\, Walton Goggins\, Natasha Lyonne and Martha Wainwright\, the memoir is a powerful\, poetic and unflinchingly human portrait of a generation that defined modern alternative culture. \nWhat to Expect\n\nA talk from Melissa Auf der Maur on the stories\, themes and revelations behind Even the Good Girls Will Cry\nDeep‑dive discussion on creativity\, identity and navigating fame within 1990s alternative rock\nInsights into authorship\, memory and the process of capturing a cultural moment on the page\nAudience Q&A\, offering a chance to engage directly with Melissa about her life\, art and writing\nBook signing opportunity — bring your copy or purchase one at the event\n\nWe look forward to welcoming you to The Long Play Sessions for a thoughtful\, inspiring and powerfully personal evening with one of alternative rock’s most distinctive and fearless voices. \nLocation\nThe Venue\, ICMP (Queens Park Campus)\, NW6 6PA
