But the worst of times can bring out the best in us.    \nThe British Red Cross is there for those in crisis\, whether it’s people affected by ongoing conflict or giving a lifeline to those whose homes have been hit by floods and storms in the UK.    \nBy walking for humanity\, you can make a real difference to people who desperately need our support.   \nWill you walk for humanity?   \nDo you like to challenge yourself\, to meet new people\, to admire the sites of your city in the breeze of the early autumn and to have fun?            If so\, this event is for you.   \nTake part to our 5 or 10 km circular walk starting and ending in Archbishop’s Park\, passing some of London’s most iconic landmarks including Westminster bridge\, the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament.    \nThe route is totally accessible and you can join solo or get together with friends\, family or even your dog. SUMMARY:Baby Cinema – One Life
DESCRIPTION:ONE LIFE tells the true story of Sir Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton\, a young London broker played by Johnny Flynn\, who\, along with Trevor Chadwick (played by Alex Sharp) and Doreen Warinner (played by Romola Garai) of the British Committee for Refugees in Czechoslovakia\, rescued 669 children from the Nazis in the months leading up to World War II\,. Nicky visited Prague in December 1938 and found families who had fled the rise of the Nazis in Germany and Austria\, living in desperate conditions with little or no shelter and food\, and under threat of Nazi invasion. He immediately realised it was a race against time. How many children could he and the team rescue before the borders closed? Fifty years later\, it’s 1988 and Nicky (played by Anthony Hopkins) lives haunted by the fate of the children he wasn’t able to bring to safety in England; always blaming himself for not doing more. It’s not until a live BBC television show\, ‘That’s Life!’\, surprises him by introducing him to some surviving children – now adults – that he finally begins to come to terms with the guilt and grief he had carried for five decades \n  \n\nBaby Cinema\nShowing films for the grown-ups\, our monthly midweek Baby Cinema is an opportunity for new parents and carers to get up and out in relative ease!  We will be serving coffee and cake from 9am in our café area\, and the film will start at 10am.  This is a relaxed screening\, so don’t worry if baby wakes up (there will be subtitles)! This is the perfect start to the Christmas season – Carols by Candlelight. \nIt has always been a star-studded evening and this year we have BBC’s Lyse Doucet CM OBE and our wonderful Patrons\, Timothy West CBE and Lord Cope of Berkeley PC have promised to be with us\, with special Guest Appearance from Bibi Heal and Stephen Barlow. \nWe are also delighted that Thames Fanfare Brass will once again be raising the roof. What would a Christmas Concert be without a Trumpet Fanfare?! \nThe angelic voices of the Queen’s Gate School Choirs will fill the church with gorgeous songs\, together with wonderful harp music by Lesley Magee\, and there will\, of course\, be plenty of favourite Christmas Carols too for you to join in with! \nThe concert will begin at 7.00pm and will be followed by Mulled Wine & Mince Pies (included in your ticket). \nThis year\, more than ever\, our hearts and thoughts go out to the forgotten families of Darfur. \nKids for Kids is the only organisation helping the forgotten children in the rural villages of Darfur\, Sudan. Our concert will raise emergency funds for struggling families and children. We are not an emergency aid organisation but in desperate times we will not turn our backs on the people who need us the most. \nPlease help us make this year’s magical Candlelit Christmas Concert the most successful ever and let’s work together to make 2025 a brighter year for the people of Darfur!
