SUMMARY:Pascol - Vocal Performance at The Cockpit
DESCRIPTION:After a major success at Voila! Festival 2025 and several sold-out performances at London theatres\, Pascol comes to the Cockpit stage for one night only.  \nOn 28 April\, Pascol presents an intimate vocal performance that invites you to bring your stories and experience how they are transformed live through voice\, movement\, and collective improvisation. \nBlending live vocal improvisation and audience storytelling\, the performance transforms personal memories into sound — emotional\, unpredictable\, and never the same twice. \nLed by project founder Sasha Gefen — a musician\, composer\, and music therapist — Pascol brings together six vocalists who turn audience stories into improvised soundscapes. Each performance begins with an open invitation: audience members are welcome to share a story or memory. In response\, the ensemble listens\, moves\, and sings together\, composing live using only voice and physical expression — no instruments\, no script. \nThe result is a collective\, deeply human experience — a musical reflection shaped by the emotions and presence in the room. Harmonies and layered vocal textures echo the audience’s inner world\, offering an intimate encounter where individual stories become shared sound. \nCombining improvisation\, storytelling\, and emotional resonance\, Pascol offers an intimate space where individual stories become collective experiences — fleeting\, expressive\, and deeply human.

SUMMARY:A Very Difficult Person (W.I.P.)
DESCRIPTION:Are you afraid of the Big Bad Wolf? You should be. \nStoryteller Rhys Williamson brings A Very Difficult Person to SPRINT Festival 2026\, reshaping a real roofing scam into a dark and uncanny modern fairytale. \nWhen the Big Bad Wolf knocks at his door\, Rhys lets him in\, sits him at the dining room table and is shocked when the wolf tries to gobble him up. A small repair twists into unease\, mistrust and the cold realisation that your home may no longer be yours. \nBold\, eerie and unexpectedly moving\, A Very Difficult Person invites audiences into a lived experience that is as absurd as it is frightening. At its heart lies one question: \nWhat would you do to protect your home?

SUMMARY:In Five Years' Time - a new opera
DESCRIPTION:In Five Years’ Time is a ‘drama in song’ based on an experimental play by Spain’s favourite poet\, Federico García Lorca\, who described the work as a meditation on the passing of time. The surreal plot explores themes of love\, identity and decay\, yet does so in the manner of a fairy tale\, clothed in fun and topsy-turvy. Lorca himself said it was impossible to stage\, but The Music Troupe has put together a cast of 8 superb singers – playing 14 roles – to bring this operatic adaptation to life in the style of a cabaret. Displaying Edward Lambert’s trademark lyricism\, the music is stimulating and accessible while the drama and poetry are uniquely heart-rending. Five years to the day after completing the draft\, when the nationalists rose up on the outbreak of civil war\, Lorca was executed and the play turned out to posses more than a hint of prophecy. \nJoin us in the atmospheric surroundings of The Space Theatre in London’s East End for the first performances of this exciting new opera. \nFederico: James Schouten (tenor)\nBridesmaid 1 / Dying Child: Rosalind Dobson (soprano)\nBridesmaid 2 / Dying Cat: Mae Heydorn (mezzo–soprano)\nBelisa / Italian Countess: Lucy Gibbs (mezzo–soprano)\nRosita: Fiona Hymns (soprano)\nPedro / Colombina: Jean-Max Lattemann (counter–tenor)\nJuan / Arlecchino: Chris Murphy (baritone)\nFernando / Pierrot: Thomas Stevenson (bass)\nMusic: Edward Lambert\nWords: adapted by the composer after the play Así que pasen cinco años (1931)\nMusical Director / Piano: Alistair Burton\nAccordion: Jing Jia\nLighting: Simon Pike\nMovement: Jenny Weston\nStage Director: Walter Hall

SUMMARY:The Sun Can Be: An IPLA Collective Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The Sun Can Be: an IPLA collective exhibition\, showcases the works of four young British-based poets operating in the fields of visual poetry\, experimental textual poetry\, text art\, and the asemic. \n\nThe works of the exhibition range from multimedia poetry\, self-portraiture\, and 3D poetry to typewriter art\, lino print\, and a prose-puzzle poem series exhibiting material\, form and method as conveyors of shifting\, alternate realities. From a triptych of calligrams that echo the Surrealism of Guillaume Apollinaire to a series of text art pieces\, to conceptual poetry that reinterprets perspective. The Sun Can Be expands on these themes through unconventional and diversified aesthetics that redefine traditional poetry\, and serves as a translation of the artistic intentions of the IPLA poets. \nhttps://inparentheses.cargo.site | Instagram \nIPLA Artists\nCameron Wade\nCameron Wade is a writer and poet based in London. His work explores the nature of storytelling\, the relationship between inner and outer realities\, non-linear storytelling\, and themes of madness\, ‘other’-spaces\, the eerie and the weird; experimenting with ergodic literature and meta-textuality through fiction\, prose-poetry\, visual and asemic poetry\, collage and performance. \nDanica Ignacio\nDanica Ignacio is a Filipino poet whose writing focuses on the juxtaposition of the ordinary and the non-ordinary by giving importance to the small. Mainly taking from more traditional forms of poetry\, her work aims to morph the everyday experience just enough to be unrecognisable while still maintaining its form. \nEleanor Wilders\nEleanor Wilders finds inspiration from the ignored details of routine and from the in-betweens of the everyday experience\, she crafts stories that question our assumptions about connection\, purpose\, and freedom. Her artistic practice leads to an exploration of exposure in today’s society; her work tries to confront the paradox of vulnerability in an age of hyper-connectivity\, whilst grappling with the tension between authenticity and public persona. \nMatthew Sokulsky\nMatthew Sokulsky is concerned with the tense relationship between nature and rational\, theology and logic\, and their ability (or not) to co-exist in the contemporary. His work experiments with traditional forms to create decidedly new poetry that at once exemplifies modernity while recognising the rich vein of myth and ritual to which he believes all poetry fixes its base. \n\nOpening hours:\nThe gallery will be opened to the public 12 noon to 5pm every Wednesday to Saturday \nOpening Night and Special View\nSaturday 9 August 2025\, 7-9pm / Bouda Gallery\nThe exhibition opens on 9 August with a special event featuring Tim Postovit\, a Czech poet\, performer\, and translator of Ukrainian origin. \nCelebrating cross-culture collaboration and international innovation the event will also include live performances by David Spittle\, Aimae Nimmo\, Matthew Sokulsky\, Danica Ignacio\, Eleanor Wilders\, Cameron Wade and many more to be announced. \nAbout Tom Postovit\nTim Postovit was born in Ukraine and has lived in the Czech Republic since the age of six. He studied philology at Charles University in Prague. He translates from Ukrainian and Russian. In 2019\, he published his debut collection of poems\, Magistrála (Highway). A poem from this book has been featured in the annual Best Czech Poetry anthology. He also performs slam poetry and holds the 2019 joint title for duo slam poetry. In 2021\, his second poetry collection came-out Motýlí pavilon (The Butterfly Pavilion). In 2022\, he was nominated for Václav Burian Prize. From 2022\, he has worked at Organization for Aid to Refugees (OPU) as a social worker for Ukrainian community. He is a member of a Czech Writers Association. He is based in Prague. \nIPLA and Friends.\nThursday August 14\, 2025\, 7-9pm / Bouda Gallery\nAn evening of experimental performance and readings from the IPLA Collective\, Simon Tyrell\, Irys Bird\, Oscar Sutherland-Dee\, Martin Wakefield and more to be announced! \nThe second event in the series features an array of bespoke new readings and performances including a world-first IPLA collaborative performance and poets travelling from across the country to read their brilliant new works for you at the historic Bouda Gallery. \nFurther accompanying events: \n\nAugust 16th\, 7 – 9 pm\nAugust 21st\, 7 – 9 pm\nAugust 23rd\, 7 – 9 pm\nAugust 28th\, 7 – 9 pm\nAugust 30th\, 7 – 9 pm\n\nThe Sun Can Be\, an exhibition by IPLA Collective\, is the Czech Centre’s Summer Artistic Residency — a pilot project offering a safe and supportive space for local artists and the community. It is part of SAFE(R) SPACES. Out There And Within\, a network initiative organised by the Czech Centres.

SUMMARY:SOLO
DESCRIPTION:– Where fame seduces\, identity fractures\, and silence becomes the scream – \nSOLO is an intimate exploration of how trauma\, mental health\, and obsession—combined with isolation and a culture increasingly focused on material success and popularity—can fragment and erode a person’s identity\, slowly pulling them into an unstoppable downward spiral. \nBlending physical theatre\, surrealism\, clowning\, and poetic storytelling\, SOLO is a gripping and visually striking one-person show that takes you deep into the mind of an artist struggling to survive in a world obsessed with fame\, perfection\, and digital validation. As mechanisation strips us of our essence\, we drift further from our own nature\, disconnecting from ourselves and others in pursuit of an artificially constructed Nirvana—an illusion of success and recognition that demands the ultimate sacrifice: truly living. Raw\, darkly funny\, and thought-provoking\, SOLO is perfect for anyone who loves powerful storytelling\, psychological drama\, and socially relevant themes. If you’ve ever questioned your place in the world or felt the weight of society’s expectations\, this show will speak to you. Ideal for theatre lovers\, young creatives\, and anyone fascinated by identity\, ambition\, and the cost of chasing a dream. \n“Beautiful. SUMMARY:After Sex
DESCRIPTION:They’re on the same page. It’s just sex. It doesn’t have to be complicated. \nAnyway\, it wouldn’t work. He hates kissing in the morning. She killed her guinea pigs. He doesn’t speak to his dad. \nThey’re different people. \nIt’s just sex. \n“I’m just worried because I think what I’m being turned on by is the fact that you’re imagining a stable future with me\, whereas what you’re being turned on by is the potential potency of your own sperm.” \nA lyrical\, charged\, sharply observed and genuinely erotic two-hander\, After Sex follows the trajectory of a couple\, told almost entirely through post-coital scenes. It’s about how the sex we have can change us: a love-song to connection and to people’s capacity for changing each other’s lives.

SUMMARY:What the dog said to the harvest
DESCRIPTION:A groundbreaking call for climate justice drawing on opera\, dance\, spoken word\, immersive sound and film. \n\n\n\nThis isn’t a story about plastic straws or bags for life; this is the tale of how we got here. This is what the dog said to the harvest. \n\n\n\nTracing 400 years across multiple narratives\, we confront the era of human displacement. \n\n\n\nCombining the immediacy of live performance and the intimacy of installation\, what the dog said to the harvest is an invitation to solidarity\, highlighting the ripple effect of Western-centric behaviours on silenced communities and drawing on stories from across the UK\, Lebanon and Syria. \n\n\n\nLisa Minerva Luxx weaves poetry\, fiction and memoir alongside critiques of Europe’s foundational philosophies. The inclusion of verbatim illustrates how the climate crisis has long since arrived for Middle Eastern communities and the Global South and leaves us asking how we can build towards a more progressive future across borders. \n\n\n\nJasmin kent rodgman’s installation and score blend sound art\, contemporary x electronic music featuring field recordings\, vocals\, electric guitar\, synths and percussion\, experienced via live performance and 360° surround sound. \n\n\n\nThe work is an immersive promenade experience. Audience members will be free to move around the space as the work unfolds amongst and around them. \n\n\n\nPost-show Q&A with creators on Sunday\, 25 June\, after the 7 pm show.

SUMMARY:Happy Deathday
DESCRIPTION:A genuine exploration of “It doesn’t matter\, one day I’ll be dead. Or does it?” will lead us to hilarious deathly shower thoughts\, as well as the simple biology versus the complex poetry of death. Let’s look at diverse rituals from cultures all over the world\, the sustainability and transparency developments of the funeral industry\, and the history that got us where we are! \nThis show was inspired by personal issues with a lack of end of life planning\, and death being a taboo topic many of us are so desperate to talk about. Because one thing is for sure\, we all die eventually\, there is (currently) no way around it\, so let’s talk about it.

SUMMARY:This Is The Land
DESCRIPTION:What exists in the ‘thin places’ where the distance between the living and the non-living is blurred? \n\n\n\nA symphony of stories resound from the land… \n\n\n\nTranscending narrative\, stories seep from the earth’s sediments\, affirming the unsettling feeling of a presence existing where logically it should not. Five shapeshifting figures navigate their arrival. Evoking a compelling cycle of the Seasons. Spring/Beginning: rebirth and resilience. Summer/Freedom: memory and desire. Autumn/Resistance: trespass and dispossession. Winter/Survival: journeying and hope. This Is The Land could not be more relevant to the issues of our times – ecological crisis\, social inequality\, and political repression of dissenting voices – whilst raising these in a highly original way. \n\n\n\nThis Is The Land’s stripped-back abstract-expressionist style is highly visual\, visceral\, and physical. The performance resists narrative through its ‘mash-up’ style of fragmentary images\, compelling movement and dance\, atmospheric soundtrack and live-vocal looping.

SUMMARY:HEXENHAMMER at VAULT Festival
DESCRIPTION:HEXENHAMMER was shortlisted for the Untapped Award 2022 and is directed by Complicité Associate Catherine Alexander. It’s a darkly comedic and totally devised piece about violent misogyny and the online ‘Manosphere’\, from the early witch hunts to Reddit chatrooms. \n\n\n\nHEXENHAMMER is loosely based on The Hammer of Witches\, the 15th-century guide towitch hunting. Written by two Dominican monks\, it kick-started the European witch craze andwas partly responsible for the murder of tens of thousands of women over the next fewhundred years. \n\n\n\nIncorporating text taken directly from Die Hexenhammer and verbatim text found onlineincel forums\, HEXENHAMMER explores how men end up killing women as a way to solvetheir own problems\, and why that hasn’t changed in the past 500 years. \n\n\n\n“Sometimes a piece of theatre really nails it. Hexenhammer is a wittywild ride on the misogyny train\, from the 15th c monks who sparkedthe witch hunts to today’s incel culture (via Jordan Peterson’slobster). Can’t wait to see what’s next.”– Gabriel Gatehouse\, creator and host of the BBC podcast “TheComing Storm” \n\n\n\nSecretariat is a writing and performance duo consisting of Suzy Kohane (The Secret Life OfHumans\, NDT) and Sidsel Rostrup (Close To Me\, Channel 4).We use comedy to open up political issues and get to the people beneath them. We arefocused on how technology impacts intimate relationships\, how outsiders become insiders\,and use clowning as a way of interrogating interpersonal dynamics. \n\n\n\nShows: Friday\, February 10th @ 10:40pm and Saturday\, February 11th @ 4:10pm and 10:10pm\n\n\n\n\nVenue: The Studio\, The Vaults\, Leake Street\, London\, SE1 7NN\nhttps://vaultfestival.com/performances/hexenhammer/\nTwitter: @Secretariat_Lndn

SUMMARY:A Society (for the Cutting Up of Men)
DESCRIPTION:A SOCIETY (FOR THE CUTTING UP OF MEN) is a frenetic mashup of satirical texts about what the world would look like without patriarchy. An unconventional partnership of Virginia Woolf and Valerie Solanas\, like going to your Oxford friend’s dinner party and then your Dalston friend’s underground rave on the same night. Think wit\, then think spit. Think liberation\, then detonation. If you’ve ever dreamed with your friends about queer utopia\, wondered why we haven’t yet abolished the work-money system\, or simply just desired a room of one’s own\, then this one’s for you.
