SUMMARY:Gathering Wands: Walk and Carving Workshop with Harri Harrison
DESCRIPTION:Centred on Harri Harrison’s sculptural Wands series in the group exhibition The House at IMT Gallery\, this workshop invites a shared evening of wandering\, foraging and making. \nThe workshop begins with a twilight walk through Victoria Park\, led by multimedia artist Harri Harrison. Moving along desire paths\, the group will allow themselves to wander off the obvious routes\, gathering found natural materials along the way. These paths offer a subtle\, gentle form of resistance\, a space for slower attention and observation. \nReturning to IMT Gallery\, we will gather our foraged materials and create our own wands using a combination of carving and binding techniques. The session concludes with a guided meditation and meditative drawing exercise. Together we will explore what it means to hold found natural materials\, noticing how our focus shifts between objects\, ourselves\, and the connections they hold.  \nNo previous experience needed\, and natural materials and tools will be provided. Feel free to bring your preferred drawing materials and any found items you would like to work with\, such as stones\, sticks\, shells\, dried flowers\, wood\, or string for binding. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for walking\, as paths may be slightly muddy. If you have any questions or specific access needs\, please feel free to get in touch. \nAbout Harri Harrison: \nHarri Harrison is a multimedia artist whose practice integrates performance\, text-based projections\, plant-based work\, and alternative photography processes\, engaging directly with urban environments. Harri explores notions of place\, community\, grief\, gratitude\, and belonging\, inviting us to reconsider our relationship to nature and future communities.  \nHarri has over 13 years of experience leading creative workshops\, collaborating with institutions such as Cubitt Gallery\, PEER Gallery\, and Phytology at Bethnal Green Nature Reserve. \nGathering Wands is open to all — wanderers\, makers\, quiet explorers\, and anyone curious to slow down\, attend to the everyday\, hold attention\, and reflect through making.  \nSpaces are limited. Reserve your place for an evening of quiet attention.

SUMMARY:Carromancy Divination Workshop with Rose-Marie Luk
DESCRIPTION:With the flickering glow of candlelight\, we will convene to unlock ancient wisdom and the language of the spirit. This workshop invites you to explore Carromancy Divination\, the timeless art of interpreting abstract forms from melted wax to access hidden messages by tapping into the subconscious\, and to set personal intentions for the days ahead. \nHeld within IMT Gallery’s group exhibition\, The House\, featuring works that all\, often through degrees of autobiography\, speaks to some of the discordances of being at home: perhaps the anticipation of order amidst the everyday; or an expectation of comfort\, often amidst insecurity or tension. In dialogue with the exhibition\, carromancy invites you to attune to the subtle emotional landscapes of home. \nImmerse yourself in the gallery space\, subtly infused with aromatic lavender to relax the mind and calm the senses. A curated experience awaits: watch as lilac wax is poured into water to create abstract forms\, engage in guided sketching to capture fleeting shapes\, and join in meditative reflections that draw you closer to your intuitive self.  \nIn this two-hour workshop led by interdisciplinary artist Rose-Marie Luk\, you will: \n\nDiscover the ancient origins of Carromancy\, tracing its roots from Celtic druids to diverse indigenous traditions.\n\n\nEngage in a step-by-step creative process: pouring\, observing\, drawing\, and interpreting the shifting forms of candle wax.\n\n\nCraft a unique talisman spell jar by combining your wax creation with foraged objects and healing crystals\, imbuing it with your personal intentions for self-awareness and transformation.\n\n\nParticipate in reflective meditations designed to harmonise your creative energies and deepen your connection to the universe.\n\nAbout Rose-Marie Luk \nRose-Marie Luk explores her cross-cultural identity through transformative art practices that channel ancestral wisdom\, evoke forgotten memories\, and uncover hybrid creations. Using automatic techniques and sigil calligraphy\, she bridges the sacred and the spiritual\, transmuting confoundment into clarity. Rose-Marie’s practice speaks to lost languages and evolving identities\, encouraging connection\, growth\, and self discovery. In this workshop\, Rose-Marie channels ancient divination practices to help you reconnect with your inner vision and discover the alchemy of transformation. \nWhat To Expect  \nBelow we offer you a glimpse of what to expect from Rose-Marie’s workshop\, as told by previous participants:  \n“[…] It exceeded expectations! I found this very interesting and relaxing. The environment has been so calm\, friendly and welcoming. I’ve loved how accessible this has been for someone who doesn’t consider themselves as a ‘natural’ artist as such.” \n“It’s a beautiful process to pace out and spend time doing – it gave space for really going with initial impression and working upon that.” \n“I learnt a lot about shifting how I observe and letting in the oracle nature of carromancy. It is worth trying because it is a unique way of spending an evening with others.” \nThis workshop is open to all—artists\, writers\, dreamers\, cloud-gazers\, poetic thinkers\, deep feelers\, curious explorers\, and open minded visionaries alike. \nPlease bring your preferred drawing materials and sketchbook\, additional supplies will also be provided. \nReserve your spot now for an evening of inspiration and connection. A limited number of tickets are available free of charge for residents of Tower Hamlets. These places have been lovingly created with support from Tower Hamlets Council.

SUMMARY:Guest House: Sewing a Palm Tree Workshop with Elle Reynolds
DESCRIPTION:All are invited into the Guest House\, a shared\, temporary workspace formed through collective contribution and the relaxed palava of conversation. You don’t need to sew a palm tree if you don’t want to! \nParticipants are invited to sit together\, sew by hand\, talk\, listen\, share stories\, or simply observe. Some may choose to sew palm trees\, while others may work on repairs\, small tests\, or nothing at all. Conversation\, silence\, and informal knowledge-sharing are all part of the process\, as the work develops slowly and collectively over the session. \nThe workshop is led by artist Elle Reynolds\, whose practice works through collaborative processes\, storytelling\, and material experimentation. Her work explores making as a way of thinking together\, with a particular interest in shared authorship\, provisional forms\, and the social life of materials. \nParticipants will experience sewing as a social and conversational practice\, build confidence working with their hands in a low-pressure environment\, and contribute to a shared\, provisional body of work. The session offers space to reflect on ideas of elsewhere\, slowness\, care\, and collective making\, rather than producing a defined outcome. \nThe Guest House takes place within IMT Gallery’s group exhibition\, The House\, featuring works that all\, often through degrees of autobiography\, speak to some of the discordances of being at home: perhaps the anticipation of order amidst the everyday; or an expectation of comfort\, often amidst insecurity or tension. The exhibition includes Elle Reynolds’ film Morass and sculptural sound piece Black Sun Loungers: The Caribbean Gaze. \nAbout Elle Reynolds: \nArtist/scholarresearcherquiet disrupter\, Elle Reynolds has a background in organising practice. She continually challenges traditional institutional structures\, reimagining the use of time and space. Her art-making under the pseudonym Guest-Host-Guest includes object installation\, collaborative events\, performative storytelling\, and interventions that unsettle the notion of the archive through spatial exploration\, participation\, and the disruption of academic language. She holds a PhD investigating alternative art school spaces and serves as a Non-Executive Director and Board member of TOMA (The Other MA)\, an alternative art school in Southend-on-Sea\, Essex. Recent projects include workshops for New Contemporaries and Creative Break Time. She is currently Programme Leader of the Graduate Diploma in Art at Goldsmiths. \nAll materials including fabric\, threads\, embroidery rings and needles will be provided\, and herbal tea served. No experience is necessary\, just bring your curiosity\, a willingness to get hands-on\, and an open mind. \nTo keep this workshop intimate\, spaces are limited; reserve your spot now for an evening of creativity\, conversation\, and connection.

SUMMARY:Young People with Additional Needs (11-16yrs): Image-transfer art with Maliheh Zafarnezhad
DESCRIPTION:In this calm and welcoming session led by The View from Here exhibition artist Maliheh Zafarnezhad\, young people with additional needs are invited to explore Leighton House through touch\, colour\, and imagination. \nUsing a curated selection of images – historic photographs\, decorative tiles\, and objects from the museum – participants will learn simple image-transfer techniques to create their own mixed-media artworks using drawing\, collage\, and pattern play. \nThis workshop emphasises sensory engagement: textured papers\, tactile surfaces\, soft tools\, and gentle materials will help artists explore art making in a way that feels accessible and enjoyable. \nAn accompanying adult is advised\, and the atmosphere will be supportive\, flexible\, and paced to individual needs. No previous art experience is required\, just curiosity and creativity. \nUseful information: \n·       This is a workshop suitable for young people aged 11-16yrs\, an accompanying adult is advised. \n·       All workshops take place in the Learning Centre at Leighton House. \n·       All materials are provided. \n·       Entry to the museum and exhibitions is included for young people joining the workshop\, and their accompanying adult \n  \nMeet Maliheh Zafarnezhad \nMaliheh Zafarnezhad is an Irish-Iranian artist and educator whose work explores themes of identity\, memory\, and cultural hybridity. Based between London and Milton Keynes\, she draws on her experience as an Iranian-born artist living in the diaspora to create evocative\, multi-layered visual narratives. Maliheh holds an MA in History of Art from the University of Limerick\, Ireland\, and a B.Sc. in Geology from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad\, Iran. Her cross-disciplinary background informs a unique artistic approach that blends research\, visual storytelling\, and cultural reflection. Working primarily with photography\, she reimagines old photographs by incorporating collage\, painting\, found objects\, and stylistic elements inspired by Persian miniatures. These techniques allow her to transform archival images into contemporary reflections on personal and collective histories. \n  \nFor updates on all of our upcoming events sign up to our museums e-newsletter

The Hospital itself is one of the UK’s most important historic buildings\, designed by Sir Christopher Wren and Sir John Soane. \nOn this British Sign Language guided tour\, Edward Richards will highlight the Royal Hospital’s history\, from its founding by King Charles II in the 1600s to the damage it sustained during Second World War air raids. SUMMARY:and we walk: A Silent Meditative Walk with Harri Harrison
DESCRIPTION:Connect deeply with urban surroundings through silence\, mantra\, and light projections on a gentle dusk walk along the Regent’s Canal. \nYou are warmly invited to join artist Harri Harrison for and we walk\, a silent\, meditative journey at twilight from IMT Gallery through Broadway Market\, towards Victoria Park. Experience the city anew\, guided by quiet reflection and illuminated mantras that transform everyday urban spaces into opportunities to witness and reflect upon personal journeys and the spaces we inhabit. \nAs we walk\, Harri’s personal mantras will softly illuminate local landmarks and ordinary city furnishings\, encouraging us to reconsider and reconnect with our shared urban environment. These ephemeral projections stem from Harri’s ongoing body of work\, repeat after me\, created using handheld text projectors and cyanotype prints. Harri’s toolbox of grounding mantras invite us to explore deeper connections with one another\, the natural world\, and our evolving concept of ‘home’. \nWe will begin our evening at IMT Gallery with a grounding meditation and herbal tea\, listening deeply to the heart of Bethnal Green\, before stepping out to witness the city through fresh eyes. The walk covers approximately 3 km along the canal towpath. Please reach out if you have any questions or specific access needs. \nThis workshop offers a welcoming space to meet new people\, enjoy gentle exercise\, and encourage conversations around home\, communities\, and the environment. We invite you to slow down and connect with overlooked local spaces and create personal mantras for personal growth. All welcome\, no experience necessary. \nAbout Harri Harrison \nHarri Harrison is a multimedia artist whose practice integrates performance\, text-based projections\, plant-based work\, and alternative photography processes\, engaging directly with urban environments. Harri explores notions of place\, community\, grief\, gratitude\, and belonging\, inviting us to reconsider our relationship to nature and future communities. Harri has over 12 years of experience leading creative workshops\, collaborating with institutions such as Cubitt Gallery\, PEER Gallery\, and Phytology at Bethnal Green Nature Reserve. \nReserve your spot for now for an evening of inspiration and connection. Concessions are available. \nSee you there!

SUMMARY:FRAME / REFRAME: Zine Making & Inner Weather with Clare Macdonald
DESCRIPTION:Connect with your inner self through guided meditation\, writing\, drawing and zine- making. \nAs we gather in the juniper-infused IMT Gallery\, this workshop offers an opportunity to notice your inner weather and begin to reframe your stories through writing\, meditation\, and zine-making\, setting intentions for the days ahead. \nIn uncertain times\, we carry protective beliefs\, inherited narratives\, and quiet fears. But what happens when we pause to notice these internal frames—and begin to reframe them? \nFRAME / REFRAME is a group workshop that explores fear\, identity\, and perception through zine-making. In a reflective and supportive setting\, we’ll use writing prompts\, folding techniques\, and collage materials to each create an 8-page personal zine. \nNo prior experience in art or meditation is needed. This workshop offers a creative space for playful inquiry\, intuitive process\, and shared reflection. \nDrawing materials will be provided\, but you are welcome to bring any personal materials or collage elements that resonate with you to enrich your experience. \nA selection of herbal teas will be served throughout the evening. \nWhat We’ll Do: \n• We will begin with a guided meditation to check in with our inner state\n• Group writing prompts will help surface subconscious and conscious patterns • Learn to fold and assemble your own 8-page personal zine\n• Explore drawing\, collage\, and layering to express internal themes \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n• A collective reflection on what we have uncovered in the process \nThis workshop is open to all: artists\, writers\, deep feelers\, the zine-curious\, and anyone navigating emotional weather. No experience necessary. \nWhat You’ll Leave With: \n• A handmade 8-page zine capturing part of your inner landscape • A shared experience and creative reflection\n• A new way of seeing and shifting the stories we hold \nAbout Clare Macdonald: \nClare Macdonald is a filmmaker\, writer\, artist\, and educator whose work investigates perception\, language\, and inner states. SUMMARY:Life Drawing Creative Social - Automatism of Ithell Colquhoun (from £5)
DESCRIPTION:Inspired by the first major exhibition of visionary artist Ithell Colquhoun that is currently on show at Tate Modern\, this is part 1 of our Ithell Colquhoun inspired series – and the theme is ‘Automatic Drawing and the Psychic Trace’. \n  \nAs a surrealist\, Colquhoun used automatism to bypass the conscious mind. Some prompts of purely automatic drawing techniques—eyes closed\, non-dominant hand\, continuous line and beyond —will be prepared to get everyone out of their logical brain to explore this creative process together. \n  \nThe goal isn’t an accurate drawing but a raw\, honest response to the moment\, capturing primal energy and subconscious impressions. The overarching focus would be The Magical Body: Drawing the Unseen; let’s approach the model not just as a physical form\, but as a vessel of psychic\, natural\, and magical energy. Let’s draw what is felt and intuited\, not just what is seen. \n  \nI hope you will be “freed” from your current drawing styles and success formula after this session\, just like how I felt after visiting the exhibition. \n  \nImage Credit: Ithell Colquhoun\, Gorgon (1946). SUMMARY:Shamatha: Meditation for Balanced Living
DESCRIPTION:During this day retreat\, co-organised by the CCN and Samadhi\, discover a range of methods for developing meditative quiescence\, or shamatha. \nShamatha is the practice of developing a single-pointed concentration to achieve a calm\, clear\, and focused mind. \nDuring this one-day retreat\, David Oromith will introduce us to both the explanation and the practice of this essential meditation technique. Only when mind agitations are healed and calmed can we really focus and see things as they are? \nThis practice nurtures a state of mind that is simultaneously supple\, profoundly relaxed\, and brilliantly alert\, offering us a much-needed respite from daily life. Through shamata practice\, we let go of physical and mental stress\, fostering mental and emotional balance. These practices\, however\, go beyond temporary relaxation and offer us the methods to cultivate a deep\, enduring sense of tranquility and clarity within ourselves. \nUltimately\, for those following the Buddhist path\, the Buddha strongly emphasised the importance of achieving shamata in order to achieve awakening. Shamatha is\, therefore\, an indispensable practice for those on this path. \nThese practices are accessible to anyone seeking inner transformation—whether Buddhist or not.

The moment has come when we need to look elsewhere for the resources to meet the challenges of the 21st Century. \n\n\n\nAbout Richard Bandler \n\n\n\nRichard Bandler\, co-developer of NLP\, also known as Neuro-Linguistic Programming\, conducts NLP seminars\, workshops\, and training seminars internationally. He has continually developed new human change technologies for the past 50 years. Richard Bandler’s seminars & workshops include Licensed Practitioner of NLP™\, Licensed Master Practitioner of NLP™\, Neuro-Hypnotic Repatterning®\, Design Human Engineering®\, Persuasion Engineering®\, Personal Enhancement™\, Charisma Enhancement®\, Hypnosis\, and others! \n\n\n\nHe has authored numerous books on the subject of NLP including “Get the Life You Want”\, “Richard Bandler’s Guide to TRANCE-formation” and “The Secrets of Being Happy\, The Technology of Hope\, Health\, and Harmony”\, among many others.

SUMMARY:Dr Amir Khan: Doctor in the House
DESCRIPTION:Dr Amir Khan\, everyone’s favourite family doctor\, has announced his first-ever live dates starting on 18th May at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre. \n\n\n\nThe ‘Doctor In The House’ tour promises a fascinating\, heart-warming and frequently hilarious evening\, where Dr Amir will share stories about growing up in his British Asian family with six sisters\, ruled by Mama Khan. He will also talk about his life as a general practitioner with emotional and downright stories of patient encounters from the heartwarming to the bizarre\, painting a profoundly revealing portrait of healthcare in twenty-first-century Britain.  Years of underfunding and lack of staff have brought the NHS to a crisis point\, and Dr Amir will argue why it should be saved before it’s too late. \n\n\n\nHe will also detail his journey to becoming a doctor\, something he never wanted to do\, preferring to become a vet. But how many Asian vets do you see? None right. And how many Asian doctors do you see? Bloody loads. Influenced by his mother\, Amir applied to study medicine\, and the rest\, as they say\, is history… \n\n\n\nFinally\, Dr Amir will bring the doctor’s surgery to you\, taking questions from the audience and tackling seemingly personal and often challenging subjects in a relaxed and practical manner\, offering advice – from sleeping issues and headaches to joint pain and heart palpitations. This promises to be an entertaining\, informative\, and liberating evening with Dr Amir as he reminds us just how unique the NHS is. \n\n\n\n“I can’t wait to see you on my first U.K. tour. Putting this show together has been so much fun… there are many laughs and passionate support for our beloved NHS\, and you get to put your medical questions to me. But please don’t tell Mama Khan about it….” \n\n\n\n DR AMIR 2023

SUMMARY:Right Of Way @ VAULT Festival
DESCRIPTION:‘I don’t remember where I am when I decide to walk. Maybe the idea creeps up on me over time – born somewhere within me the first time I saw the sea. \n\n\n\nLike osmosis\, the thought it soaks into my skin and lies in wait until I cry it out as a single teardrop. Glistening\, shimmering\, and whole – it falls out of my subconscious and into my knowledge. \n\n\n\nThe know\, the knowing\, that I need to walk.’ \n\n\n\nRIGHT OF WAY is a response to writer Beth Bowden’s experience of becoming a Young Carer. It follows a young woman walking the South West Coast path\, documenting her journey of 100+ miles in the face of grief & exhaustion. It is a reflection on bodies\, chronic illness\, loss and joy. Using innovative multimedia projection and exploring natural materials and movement\, this new play aims to kickstart conversations about disability and chronic illness. \n\n\n\nDATES \n\n\n\n21st – 24th February\, 20:00 \n\n\n\n25th – 26th February\, 19:30 \n\n\n\n26th February\, 16:40 \n\n\n\nLOCATION \n\n\n\nThe Cage\, The Vaults\, Leake Street\, London SE1 7NN \n\n\n\nTICKETS \n\n\n\nTickets available from £13.50 via https://vaultfestival.com/performances/right-of-way/
