SUMMARY:Grantham Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The Grantham Art exhibition presents a dynamic show of newly commissioned artworks by young and emerging art students\, and the Grantham Institute’s Artist in Residence Áinne Burke\, who have collaborated with Imperial College London’s top climate and environmental researchers. \nThe exhibition is free to attend and no registration is required. \nOpening times: \nMon – Fri: 9:30 – 17:00 \nSat\, Sun and bank holidays: 11:00 – 17:00 \nPlease note\, Monday 26 August is a bank holiday. \nGrantham Art Prize:\nThe Grantham Art Prize was launched by Imperial College London and the Royal College of Art to create collaborations between up-and-coming artists and Imperial’s world-renowned climate and environmental researchers. \nSix emerging artists were chosen by a panel of established artists\, critics and scientists to receive the prize\, and were commissioned to create artworks that would create conversations about the urgent issue of climate change. \nThe Earth And Me:\nThe project Áinne Burke is developing with the Institute\, TEAM (The Earth And Me)\, brings a visual message to an international audience. Using the chemistry of the periodic table (humans being 62 of these\, all constantly interacting with the molecules of the air\, earth and water)\, Ainne hopes to convey that as individuals\, we all have a relationship to the earth\, and she hopes to raise awareness of how we can better look after it. \n#GranthamArtPrize\n@Grantham_IC

SUMMARY:Roy's Art Fair
DESCRIPTION:Roy’s Art Fair is back and raring to go after sadly having to postpone our April fair. \nOur next fair will be in our new edgy venue The Boiler House on the bustling artistic hub Brick Lane in East London. There will be 80 emerging and established artists on display\, both new to our fair as well as previous artists showing their new work. Over our 4 day event\, we continue our focus on accessibility by keeping Roy’s Art Fair entrance FREE for all. \nRoy’s Art Fair wants to support the recovery of London’s cultural sector\, the creative arts and our artists. \nThe safety of both exhibitors and the public are our main priority at the 6th Roy’s Art Fair\, which we will be going above and beyond to ensure. With the unfortunate cancellation of International art fairs\, due to travel restrictions for international clientele\, Roy’s will aim to deliver an exciting and safe UK Art Fair. \nThe team at Roy’s Art Fair are all artists in their own right and offer their invaluable expertise and support to both emerging and established artists as they navigate the art world. Their focus is primarily on developing a community led spirit initiated by artists to connect directly with the public and promote both the artists’ and buyers’ interests first. \nWhat sets us aside from the host of other art fairs now popping up around London is our comfortable yet energetic atmosphere that allows visitors to connect with artists and invest in artwork they love. Roy’s Art Fair does this at an approachable level\, whether you’re an avid art collector or a first-time buyer and with our free entry\, we welcome all.

SUMMARY:Adjust the Procedure
DESCRIPTION:Spin Cycle in association with JCS Theater Company presents The World Premiere of ADJUST THE PROCEDURE\, a new play by Jake Shore (The Devil Is On The Loose With An Axe In Marshalltown\, Holy Moly\, and Down The Mountain And Across The Stream) conceived during the pandemic and created with Zoom theater in mind. It’s early Fall 2020 and the pandemic consumes a Manhattan university. In addition to tracking rising cases of COVID on campus\, the school’s administrators face immigration problems\, suicide threats\, and professors losing their minds. But in the midst of all the madness\, it’s the internal bureaucratic battles that threaten the school’s preservation. \nOver the course of two conflict-ridden Zoom meetings\, ADJUST THE PROCEDURE gives audiences a rare peek into the business of higher education at a moment of multiple reckonings. “A couldn’t-be-more-timely play.” — Derek McCracken\, BroadwayWorld “As this play questions whether it is easier to ADJUST THE PROCEDURE or adjust reality\, it forcefully reminds us ‘When someone dies\, there are consequences.’ \nA timely play for troubled times. Well worth watching.” — Laurie Lawson\, Electronic Link Journey “Smartly tailored to its theme and era\, and the direction and delivery of its thought-provoking narrative pack a punch and leave us wondering what really drives our educational system and who benefits the most from it.” — Deb Miller\, DC Metro Theater Arts Written and directed by Jake Shore\, ADJUST THE PROCEDURE stars Ed Altman\, Adam Files\, Meagan Moses\, and Nicholas Miles Newton.

SUMMARY:MAPA Fine Art presents: ‘Still @live’ Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:MAPA Fine Art is a Nomadic art gallery with our next exhibition (Still @live) opening in London.\nAbout this event\nMAPA FINE ART IS PLEASED TO PRESENT STILL @LIVE\, A GROUP EXHIBITION FEATURING SIX EMERGING INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS WORKING WITHIN THE MEDIUM OF FIGURATIVE PAINTING. THEIR WORK SPEAKS TO THE HUMAN CONDITION IN THESE UNCERTAIN TIMES\, BUT ALSO COMMENTS ON OUR PRIVATE (AND TIMELESS) DESIRES\, SECRETS AND ANXIETIES. DIVIDED INTO TWO PARTS\, THE EXHIBITION MIRRORS THE PRESENT STATE OF THE WORLD BY TAKING PLACE ONLINE AT FIRST\, CONNECTING US THROUGH TECHNOLOGY\, AND EMERGING IN A PHYSICAL SPACE IN LONDON IN THE SPRING OF 2021. \nThe year 2021 might seem like the promise of a new beginning\, but will the mere addition of a number make our lives any better? The emotions we experienced last year and our collective yearning for change throughout the pandemic have become integral parts of who we are. It seems that what has emerged from multiple lockdowns and widespread isolation\, is a globally shared experience of solitude. \nThis unexpected commonality\, a collective cluster of emotions\, is resonating even in the virtual space. Though physically separated\, we are still here\, and art remains one of the fundamental ways we can investigate our inner states and relate to each other. The expressive language of the works in this exhibition can serve as a guide on an introspective journey\, to a higher sense of unity which can be fully experienced once we can finally meet again in physical places. \nCurators: Jindra Bucan & Marc Prats

SUMMARY:BLEUR STUDIO SESSION: GEOMETRICAL ABSTRACT ART // ARTIST: SABRINA BROUWERS
DESCRIPTION:Join abstract artist Sabrina Brouwers to explore geometric mark making with stencils and create a unique artwork.\nAbout this event\nThis Studio Session is about exploring abstract geometrical shapes and forms using stencils. Through a series of activities\, you will learn the art of composition and how to create repeat patterns and layers in your work to make a unique abstract piece.\nAs an indie art gallery\, we believe in art as a lived experience of the many. Pioneering new ways of making art accessible in a post-covid landscape\, we are proud to launch our Bleur Takeovers series\, partnering with carefully selected venues across London to bring art closer to the people and support our artists. This Spring\, we are thrilled to team up with the brilliant guys at Little Louie in Elephant Park: café by day\, wine and cocktail bar by night. From mindfulness drawing to freestyle embroidery\, join our talented collective of artists for weekly creative sessions every Wednesday evening from 7-9pm. You’ll be immersing yourself in cutting edge art explorations while socialising with your favourite drink — what’s not to like? Tickets will sell fast so make sure to grab yours! \nPrice includes all materials needed for the session and a drink voucher to redeem at the bar. Ticket sales go straight to supporting our artists. \nAbout the artist\nSabrina Brouwers is an Italian/German geometric abstract artist based in London. Sabrina graduated from Falmouth University in 2019 with a Bachelors in Fine Art and holds a Post-graduate Diploma in Graphic Design at the University of Art London\, in Chelsea. Sabrina’s artistic practice is an emotional response to the world around her. Influenced by the urban landscape where Sabrina lives\, the circles in her work represent an abstraction of the subject matter telling stories of her own lived experiences and reflections. \nAs with all creative experimentations\, things can get a bit messy so make sure you wear old clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on. Open to anyone\, no previous experience required.\nLittle Louie is located on the ground floor and is accessible to visitors with reduced mobility. If you have any queries regarding accessibility\, please get in touch with us.\nWe may capture some content during the session. SUMMARY:BLEUR STUDIO SESSION: MEDITATIVE ABSTRACT ART // ARTIST: BLANDINE BARDEAU
DESCRIPTION:Join multi-disciplinary artist Blandine Bardeau to explore abstraction and meditation and create a series of collage works. \nAbout this event:\nCome explore your own creativity and the joy of making abstract art through playful experimentations of drawing\, painting and making collages in a small and intimate setting. Most of us are terrified of making a mistake\, doing the «wrong thing» and adult life often feels so serious. This session is about freedom\, letting go of our fears\, and connecting to a part of us that we don’t usually allow to come out in our busy daily lives. \nAs an indie art gallery\, we believe in art as a lived experience of the many. Pioneering new ways of making art accessible in a post-covid landscape\, we are proud to launch our Bleur Takeovers series\, partnering with carefully selected venues across London to bring art closer to the people and support our artists. Her feminine lines and intuitive experimentations has won her recognition early on in her career including winning the Louis Vuitton Bag Design Competition at Central Saint Martins and being featured in several publications. \nAs with all creative experimentations\, things can get a bit messy so make sure you wear old clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on. SUMMARY:DOG HAIR at VAULT Festival 2023
DESCRIPTION:‘Asbestos ceilings don’t break like glass’ \n\n\n\nAfter the death of SON’s Nan\, SON returns to his hometown\, but MAM’s boyfriend\, MIKE\, not from the area\, has other ideas about what’s best for them.  As the town’s grip re-takes its hold\, SON struggles to suppress his rising grief\, tensions with MIKE intensify\, and there can only be so long until the levy breaks. Lost\, angry and broken\, SON is forced to confront the question: can you ever truly leave the place you’re from? Full of wit\, warmth and unstereotyped working-class charm\, bite and tenderness\, DOG HAIR is about the struggle between place and identity and how ‘No matter how far you go from home\, you’ll always have dog hair on your clothes’. (May also include instances of Genesis). \n\n\n\nA quick-witted\, lyrical and devastating new 3-hander\, DOG HAIR is written by Phillip Jones (BWL BOY – BBC WALES\, Best Actor: It’s My Shout for PACKAGED – BBC Wales)\, and produced by Rachel Thomas (Associate Producer: WHOLE\, Wildcard Theatre’s multi award-winning RUCKUS) for 7th Sense Theatre\, a company existing to make ‘class theatre\, without the divide’. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nABOUT 7TH SENSE \n\n\n\nSeventh Sense Theatre Ltd is a registered company founded in 2018 to create ‘class theatre\, without the divide’. They produce work for & about people whose stories go untold\, give those audiences a voice\, & most importantly\, take those shows to them. They aim to provide a platform for artists to take risks & develop through collaboration\, regardless of experience or class background.  In 2020 they were selected for Wildcard Theatre’s 4 OF A KIND scheme for ‘4 of the UK’s most exciting emerging companies’. They are committed to a minimum of 50% working-class representation across all projects\, including DOG HAIR. They develop their work alongside RECLAIM Project\, a charity empowering the young working class\, & are one of the founding arts organisations on their OUR SPACE Manifesto to make opportunities and public spaces more accessible to working-class young people. \n\n\n\n‘An exciting and driven company\, easily selectable for our Artistic Development programme with their passion for theatre and new writing’ – Wildcard Theatre \n\n\n\n★★★★★ ‘Phillip Jones gives us an absolute masterclass in performance’ – London Theatre Review (BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS)

SUMMARY:HEXENHAMMER at VAULT Festival
DESCRIPTION:HEXENHAMMER was shortlisted for the Untapped Award 2022 and is directed by Complicité Associate Catherine Alexander. It’s a darkly comedic and totally devised piece about violent misogyny and the online ‘Manosphere’\, from the early witch hunts to Reddit chatrooms. \n\n\n\nHEXENHAMMER is loosely based on The Hammer of Witches\, the 15th-century guide towitch hunting. Written by two Dominican monks\, it kick-started the European witch craze andwas partly responsible for the murder of tens of thousands of women over the next fewhundred years. \n\n\n\nIncorporating text taken directly from Die Hexenhammer and verbatim text found onlineincel forums\, HEXENHAMMER explores how men end up killing women as a way to solvetheir own problems\, and why that hasn’t changed in the past 500 years. \n\n\n\n“Sometimes a piece of theatre really nails it. Hexenhammer is a wittywild ride on the misogyny train\, from the 15th c monks who sparkedthe witch hunts to today’s incel culture (via Jordan Peterson’slobster). Can’t wait to see what’s next.”– Gabriel Gatehouse\, creator and host of the BBC podcast “TheComing Storm” \n\n\n\nSecretariat is a writing and performance duo consisting of Suzy Kohane (The Secret Life OfHumans\, NDT) and Sidsel Rostrup (Close To Me\, Channel 4).We use comedy to open up political issues and get to the people beneath them. We arefocused on how technology impacts intimate relationships\, how outsiders become insiders\,and use clowning as a way of interrogating interpersonal dynamics. \n\n\n\nShows: Friday\, February 10th @ 10:40pm and Saturday\, February 11th @ 4:10pm and 10:10pm\n\n\n\n\nVenue: The Studio\, The Vaults\, Leake Street\, London\, SE1 7NN\nhttps://vaultfestival.com/performances/hexenhammer/\nTwitter: @Secretariat_Lndn

SUMMARY:This Is The Land
DESCRIPTION:What exists in the ‘thin places’ where the distance between the living and the non-living is blurred? \n\n\n\nA symphony of stories resound from the land… \n\n\n\nTranscending narrative\, stories seep from the earth’s sediments\, affirming the unsettling feeling of a presence existing where logically it should not. Five shapeshifting figures navigate their arrival. Evoking a compelling cycle of the Seasons. Spring/Beginning: rebirth and resilience. Summer/Freedom: memory and desire. Autumn/Resistance: trespass and dispossession. Winter/Survival: journeying and hope. This Is The Land could not be more relevant to the issues of our times – ecological crisis\, social inequality\, and political repression of dissenting voices – whilst raising these in a highly original way. \n\n\n\nThis Is The Land’s stripped-back abstract-expressionist style is highly visual\, visceral\, and physical. The performance resists narrative through its ‘mash-up’ style of fragmentary images\, compelling movement and dance\, atmospheric soundtrack and live-vocal looping.

SUMMARY:Grey Area
DESCRIPTION:Where does the line between self-care and egotism lie in relationships? An intimate semi-autobiographical performance highlighting the effects of unaddressed mental health in relationships\, told through the lens of deconstructed\, fragmented memories. \n\n\n\nA non-linear investigation of the complexities and nuances of relationships and the moral boundaries we set: highlighting the different dynamics in LGBTQIA+ relationships while exploring what makes love (and the suffering it causes) a universal experience. \n\n\n\n“Grey Area” takes its space on stage earnestly and honestly in response to two contemporary issues: homobitransphobia and ableism. How can a journey of queer love be completely redefined by pain and understanding?
