SUMMARY:SUSANNAH STARK & BAND + POTIK
DESCRIPTION:Upset The Rhythm presents… \nSUSANNAH STARK & BAND\nPOTIK\nTuesday 20 January\nTheatreship\, South Quay Plaza\, London\, E14 9SH\n7.30pm | £10 | Tickets: https://link.dice.fm/Db4300074e6f \nSUSANNAH STARK’s new album opens with questions that set its reflective tone while drifting on a current of birdsong\, rivers and synths. Sung in Gaidhlig and English\, her second album for Stroom and Night School\, ‘Minor Gestures’\, is a dialogue between place\, history and the listener. Collaborating with experimental and folk musicians in Glasgow\, Stark navigates acoustic textures with fluidity while blending breath\, drone and rhythm. The result is a meditative soundscape that celebrates vulnerability and curiosity. From the responsive waters of ‘Caochan’ to the unanswered queries of ‘Ceistean gun freagairtean’\, this is ritualistic sonic poetry. \nhttps://susannahstarkmusic.bandcamp.com/ \nPOTIK is artist Karolina Lebek\, working across a range of media including video\, photography\, sound\, installation and live performance. Her practice\, exploring interests in consciousness\, ecology and mental health\, gives new form to the exploration of the sacred\, the ritual and the body\, in the context of geological time. Through the desire to capture the affect of memory\, she’s expressing subtle and perturbing worlds\, building her own lexicon of symbolic language\, populated by unspoken narratives\, and haunting material mysteries\, exploring emotional and physical worlds\, both within oneself and those around us. \n \n

SUMMARY:Rone – L(oo)ping With London Contemporary Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:After four sold-out concerts in the Philharmonie de Paris and L’Auditorium of Lyon\, Rone brings hisacclaimed album L(oo)ping to London’s Barbican Centre. The album saw the producer collaboratewith the National Orchestra of Lyon to breathe new life into some of his most famed pieces. InLondon\, Rone will be joined on stage by Britain’s acclaimed London Contemporary Orchestra andconductor Robert Ames. L(oo)ping premiers at the Barbican on the 10th of March 2024. \n\n\n\nThroughout his long musical career\, Rone has dipped his toes in all corners of the arts\,collaborating with heaps of France’s most distinguished contemporary minds from the writer AlainDamasio\, the Marseilles Ballet group\, (LA)HORDE and film directors Jacques Audiard and SpikeJonze\, to name a few. This versatility has been central to his music and has distinguished Rone asof the most exciting acts in electronic music\, bestowing him high honours such as a Cesar andCannes Film Festival award for best film score. With his new album L(oo)ping\, Rone pushes hisdazzling acrobatics further with music that twirls and twists alongside the orchestra. \n\n\n\nIt was while working with Romain Allender (The Grand Budapest Hotel\, The Shape of Water) thatRone began to bridge his electronic world with that of the orchestra. The arranger selected tracksfrom Rone’s repertoire that would lend themselves to symphonic reinterpretations and brought these to stage in France. Amongst the selected songs is Tikkoun\, the theme of the series D’argent et de sang for which Rone released the soundtrack this year. The electro-classical pieces received rapturous responses from audiences and critics and would mark the birth of L(oo)ping with the album’s live recording followed in 2023. \n\n\n\nIn March\, conductor Robert Ames will lead the London Contemporary Orchestra to bringL(oo)ping to life in London’s Barbican Centre. “I have been a fan of Rone since first hearing hisalbum Spanish Breakfast. It’s been great to hear him move deeper and deeper intoorchestral music. L(oo)ping is a genuine hybrid of electronic and acoustic sound worldswhich will really utilise the full range of the London Contemporary Orchestras skills. We arein for a treat\,” states the conductor and LCO co-founder. The London Contemporary Orchestra isone of Britain’s brightest beacons for new music\, having worked with well-known artists such asRadiohead\, Frank Ocean\, Steve Reich\, Mica Levi and Vivienne Westwood and with a diverse nextgeneration of players. “I am extremely proud and happy to collaborate with the LCO andconductor Robert Ames for whom I have the deepest respect. I’m also thrilled to be able toplay these pieces arranged by Romain at the prestigious Barbican Hall for the first time. Weall want to make this unique experience an exceptional moment\,” says Rone.

SUMMARY:KOMRAUS & Guest Acts Live for Refugees
DESCRIPTION:KOMRAUS and S M M group organise this especial music event to raise funds for CEAR (the Spanish Commission Helping Refugees) and in particular for the LGBT refugees that suffer intorable situations.\n+ Guest Acts: Lili Caseley and Umbrela Arts Collective Djs \nFREE Entry- all donations to CEAR. \nKomraus will release on the 2nd of Nov their second single with M.A.R.S. Label Group\, titled ‘Untie the ropes’. This song empowers freedom and being yourself with no fear. So it will be the anchor song that marks the beginning of the collaboration between KOMRAUS and CEAR. Funds from the single\, merch and event will go directly to CEAR.\nAlbum to be released in Jan 2019 after a successful year of London headlines shows and International touring. \nMore info on:\nhttp://www.komraus.com\nhttps://www.cear.es/ \nGUEST ACTS:\nLili Caseley:\nHailing from North London\, Lili Caseley is a multi-talented singer and songwriter who’s winning the hearts of fans and critics alike with her meaningful soul pop about lovers and experiences\, past and present. Her songs\, deceptively simple in structure but teeming with emotional honesty\, are influenced by her Portuguese heritage\, legendary poets and the biggest pop talents of today.\nYet to release her debut EP\, she’s already won support from respected music titles like Clash and Notion\, while receiving coveted airplay from Radio 1xtra’s Toddla T on Target’s show and Radio 6’s Tom Robinson\, on his BBC Introducing mixtape show.\nhttp://www.lilicaseley.com \nUmbrela Collective Djs will also perform on the night. Artists from different cultures\, languages and backgrounds from around the world\, who aim to spread ideas of globalis\, open-mindness and all types of art.\nDjs: Crowse\, Go by Luck and Vladimir Kusijanovic. \nWWW.WEAREUMBRELA.COM \nMore details on the full line up soon. \nThis will be a FREE event and all donations will be directly passed to CEAR. The non-for profit organization that is doing a remarkable work for the last 40 years in Spain\, that has been welcoming refugees for over years. \nDoors will open at 7 pm. \nKOMRAUS organises the event ‘Untie the ropes’ helping to raise awareness and funds for the LGBT Refugees. 6th of Nov at The Victoria\, Dalston. In collaboration with MARS Label Group from The Netherlands\, CEAR (Spanish Commission Helping Refugees) and Jaguarshoes collective in London.\nUntie the ropes is also the title of the new KOMRAUS song and music video that will be out from the 2nd and 6th of Nov respectively. Untie the ropes is a song about personal growth\, freedom and self-respect. With this song KOMRAUS wants to remind us all that we are free to choose what we want to be. That’s the reason why they support with this song all the brave ones that are living complicated situations as refugees: the LGBT refugees.\nKOMRAUS is a band formed in London by European successful professional musicians that with their next single feel the urge to raise awareness about the refugees situation and in particular the LGBT refugees. KOMRAUS members were all somehow migrants themselves when they first arrived in London many years ago and now they feel again the uncertainty\, like many others\, of Brexit. Sara Rioja\, the singer and one of the composers of the band\, is originally Spanish; Spain is one the countries welcoming more refugees in the last 30 years\, so the band decided to start a collaboration with one of the biggest not for profit organizations in this subject: CEAR. Over 350\,000 people have been attended and helped by CEAR in the last 10 years. The non- for-profit organization has been working for 40 years in awareness\, education\, social integration and international human rights. ‘Untie the ropes’ and KOMRAUS will be a bridge to communicate in other territories the job that CEAR (the Spanish Commission helping refugee’s) does and in particular for the LGBT community. All funds from the single\, merch and concerts will be directed to CEAR.\nThe song was recorded Live in one take (as all the other songs in the upcoming album) at Andy Whitmore Studios in West London (Lemar\, Eternal\, Elton John). The band keeps the magic and communication of the live performance in this unique recording.\nThe empowering music-video of Untie the ropes will see the light on the 6th of November\, coinciding with the headline show that KOMRAUS organizes at The Victoria in London to raise funds for CEAR (Spanish Commission Helping refugees) and for the LGBT Refugees. The music video follows the aesthetic of previous KOMRAUS music videos\, always directed by the talented Pedro Caxade\, who has worked before for Channel 4\, Sky TV and in a film with the likes of Aidan Gillen. He has shaped the magical visual world of KOMRAUS in their brand image and music videos. The new video will be another sign of the well looked after artistic and musical work of the band.
