DESCRIPTION:International children’s cleft charity\, Smile Train\, is excited to announce that its annual Christmas carols service will be returning again for 2020 – but with a virtual twist!\nOn Tuesday 1st December at 7:30pm\, Smile Train will be launching an hour-long Christmas carols concert – which people across the UK can tune into for free via Smile Train’s website\, to kick off the much-anticipated festive season. \nFilmed at the Grosvenor Chapel in Mayfair where the Christmas-classic Love Actually was shot\, the concert will feature festive performances from the Choir of Grosvenor Chapel and a welcome message from Smile Train UK Director\, Ian Vallance. \nCarols will be interspersed with inspiring stories from those who have been supported by the charity\, as well as hymns from four of Smile Train’s patient choirs from Brazil\, Chile and Colombia – made up of children and young people who have benefited from the charity’s cleft care. \nBut wait—there’s ‘myrrh’! Making sure it’s a not-so-silent night for viewers\, BBC Young Musician of the Year finalist and Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist\, Toril Azzalini-Machecler from Chineke! Meet Vividbooks\, the interactive textbooks with augmented reality! Vividbooks combine high quality educational content with contemporary design and state-of-the-art technology. Yet another mundane science image can be magically brought to life through augmented reality and that’s when a child becomes eager to learn more! Interactive lessons support students in active learning and encourage them to think about the world around them. Together with the teacher\, Vividbooks help children discover the true beauty of physics.  \nPetra Bakajsová is the headmaster at the Livingston Primary School in Prague Čakovice. She began her career at the school as an English teacher and ICT coordinator. Between 2015 and 2018\, she worked as a certified Apple lecturer in education\, where she had the opportunity to work with several schools and teachers throughout the Czech Republic. In cooperation with NIDV\, she led the successful “Teacher and / or Tablet” seminar series for two years and regularly led workshops at the conference. She is a certified Apple trainer for education and a member of the prestigious community of teachers and educators from around the world\, Apple Distinguished Educators. Since March 11\, 2020\, she has successfully transferred her school to the online environment several times. Together with her colleagues\, she has created and continuously improves the system of involving children in distance education.   \nVítek Škop is a graphic designer\, graduate of the Academy of Arts\, Architecture and Design in Prague who promotes the idea that design should be meaningful. During his studies he completed internships in London\, Barcelona and New York. While living New York\, Vítek started with Vividbooks\, which he later presented as his diploma project and subsequently transformed into a successful company. Together with the teacher\, Vividbooks help children discover the true beauty of physics. \nThe event will be streamed live on the Czech Centre London Facebook page. \nGUESTS\nPetra Bakajsová is the headmaster at the Livingston Primary School in Prague Čakovice. She began her career at the school as an English teacher and ICT coordinator. Between 2015 and 2018\, she worked as a certified Apple lecturer in education\, where she had the opportunity to work with several schools and teachers throughout the Czech Republic. In cooperation with NIDV\, she led the successful “Teacher and / or Tablet” seminar series for two years and regularly led workshops at the conference. She is a certified Apple trainer for education and a member of the prestigious community of teachers and educators from around the world\, Apple Distinguished Educators. Since March 11\, 2020\, she has successfully transferred her school to the online environment several times. Together with her colleagues\, she has created and continuously improves the system of involving children in distance education. \nVítek Škop is a graphic designer\, graduate of the Academy of Arts\, Architecture and Design in Prague who promotes the idea that design should be meaningful. During his studies he completed internships in London\, Barcelona and New York. While living New York\, Vítek started with Vividbooks\, which he later presented as his diploma project and subsequently transformed into a successful company. DESCRIPTION:The world’s largest cleft-focused organisation\, Smile Train\, is excited to announce that it will once again be hosting a virtual Christmas carols service to kickstart the festive season! On Thursday 9th December at 8 pm\, Smile Train will be launching an hour-long Christmas carols concert – which people across the UK can tune into for free via Smile Train’s website. \nFilmed in the Grosvenor Chapel in Mayfair\, as featured in the classic Christmas film\, Love Actually\, the concert will feature festive performances from the Choir of Grosvenor Chapel and a seasonal welcome message from Smile Train UK Director\, Ian Vallance. \nAlong with melodies\, you will hear inspiring stories from the charity’s Ambassadors\, as well as hymns from seven of Smile Train’s patient choirs in Argentina\, Brazil\, Colombia\, Chile\, and Nigeria – made up of children and young people who have benefited from the charity’s cleft care. \nBut wait\, there’s myrrh! Viewers will be treated to a regional update from Smile Train’s programme in the Philippines. Harlequins have launched a new event at Twickenham Stadium to start this summer\, building on the unprecedented demand for tickets to see Harlequins play. Every league match at The Stoop is sold out for the English champions this season. \nThe Gallagher Premiership tie between Harlequins and Gloucester Rugby on Saturday\, May 21 will be played at Twickenham Stadium\, 15:00 kick-off. The match is the penultimate round of the season\, and with both sides battling for places in the coveted top four play-off spots\, the game could be crucial.\nThe event themed the ‘Big Summer Kick-Off’ will feature festival-themed entertainment and activities across the day\, including a significant headline entertainment act. \nThe famous player ‘walkover’ will again enable local supporters to roar the team from The Stoop to Twickenham stadium. They will also get to welcome the return of the 2012 Premiership winning team\, ten years to the day of their famous triumph at Twickenham stadium.\nThere will also be the opportunity for local community rugby clubs and schools to get involved and play on the pitch at The Stoop\, Craneford Way and Twickenham Stadium on the day. \nHarlequins CEO Laurie Dalrymple said: “We can’t wait to get back to Twickenham and play in front of our supporters and community again – it has undoubtedly proved a happy hunting ground for us recently\, and the advantage we get from being roared on by a packed house of Quins supporters cannot be underestimated. In our highly entertaining retelling\, we’ll whisk you to present day south London where our heroine Rapunzel finds herself working for a wicked witch in a hair salon by day\, and locked in a towerblock at night…Can a passing African prince rescue her from her predicament and show her the world that has always been kept from her? \nFeaturing original songs and music by Paul Tornbohm\, video effects by Joe Kaufman of Red Kite Films and costumes by Jackie Poulett\, expect a highly original musical show from the creators of Tales of Beatrix Potter\, Little Red Riding Hood: The Truth! and last December’s Beauty and the Beast. Creative director and co-writer Jonathan Kaufman is joined on this project by emerging Kenyan playwright Anita Ojukwu\, here making her UK debut as co-writer. \nAfter her debut as Peter Rabbit in our recent Tales of Beatrix Potter we’re delighted that Chioma Nwalioba is returning as Rapunzel\, plus Spontaneous favourite Paul-D Stephenson (Tales of Beatrix Potter\, The Gingerbread Man\, Sinbad the Sailor) is the pampered African Prince Baraka.
