SUMMARY:The Flower of Story - why we need stories\, workshop for beginners with Sally Pomme Clayton
DESCRIPTION:The Flower of Story\nSaturday November 22 \, 2.00pm – 5.00pm GMT\nOctober Gallery\, 24 Old Gloucester Street\, London\, WC1N 3AL \nWhy do we tell stories? What is a story made of? What makes a story memorable and tellable?\nThis workshop is for any beginner who would like to explore story and learn some simple storytelling skills. \nAre you a teacher or writer\, an actor or carer\, a librarian or public speaker – anyone who wants to find out more about storytelling? Join Pomme in this creative and practical workshop. She will share her knowledge about why folk and fairytales are valuable to us today and help you discover your own heritage of stories – even if you think you don’t have one! And lead you through some playful\, practical and creative tasks exploring: story structure; memory; visualisation and meaning\, to help you develop your storytelling skills. The Flower of Story is the way Pomme describes the living process of storytelling: plant; grow; bloom; scatter. This process keeps stories alive and relevant to each audience\, and is how similar stories appear in different parts of the World. The workshop will introduce you to her ideas about the magnificent Flower of Story. Pomme has been leading workshops for many years and her style is warm\, enabling and creative. Come and find out why we need stories now. And how you can bring stories and storytelling into your life and for those around you.

SUMMARY:Dick Fiddlers is Dead - London Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Dick Fiddler is convinced he’s dead. Grieving his job\, his status and his own existence he meets Jenny:  mysterious\, funny and carrying a suitcase full of Kleftiko. As they cook\, clash and connect\, memory twists and reality slips. What if nothing is quite what it seems? \nDick Fiddler is Dead is a new\, tender tragicomedy that explores identity\, loss and the quiet absurdity of everyday life. Set in a world where logic bends and memory misbehaves\, this two-hander blends dark humour\, surreal encounters and explores the struggle to stir memory into meaning\, layering fragmented pasts with the taste of something real.

SUMMARY:Sunk Into the Earth
DESCRIPTION:What do you do when your ex-situationship appears after six years in prison for killing her sister’s husband? You invite her and all your friends over and hope for the best\, right? Sunk Into the Earth opens to reveal a cozy get-together with a tight-knit group of friends\, properly enjoying their weekly pizza-and-wine-night\, until we discover that one of the group has just been released from prison for murdering her sister’s abusive husband. As the play unfolds\, the characters grapple with their relationships and complex history with one another\, prompting deeper thought on the devastating impacts of domestic violence\, the uniqueness of female friendships\, and the intricacies of queer relationships. A love story set against the violent backdrop of an unspeakable act of sisterly devotion\, Sunk Into the Earth is deeply honest in confronting the abyss inside us all. Jagged and tender\, dark and light\, the play investigates just how far we’ll go for the deep bonds that connect and entangle us.

SUMMARY:FREAK OUT! at Camden People’s Theatre
DESCRIPTION:VAULT FESTIVAL 2023 SHOW OF THE WEEK NOMINEE \n\n\n\nThis town is falling apart. \n\n\n\nWelcome to Portsford\, a seaside town fighting a losing battle with coastal erosion. When a sudden announcement threatens to tear the community apart in an attempt to raise spirits\, everyone comes together for a night of drinking and dancing. But as the party becomes a pressure cooker\, difficult conversations surrounding the shared loss of home and collective and individual responsibility rise to the surface. But wouldn’t you rather just dance the night away? \n\n\n\nDevised and performed by the company\, this show is inspired by the UK’s disappearing coastline. It draws from research into British seaside communities threatened by coastal erosion and stimulates conversations around activism\, climate anxiety and climate justice. FREAK OUT! experiments with theatrical styles and genres\, blending clowning\, movement\, live art and multimedia with an issue-led narrative into a high-energy cocktail of a show. Enjoy it while it lasts\, because things are about to get messy… literally. \n\n\n\n\n“Celebrates the coast’s beauty and laments its loss… it’s surprisingly and suddenly hilarious with an undertone of impending doom and exceptionally ingenious flair” ★★★★★ Broadway World \n\n\n\n“A poetically playful and creatively choreographed moment for reflection and call to action” ★★★★ Fringe Biscuit \n\n\n\n\nThis production has been supported by funding from Arts Council England. \n\n\n\nRunning time: 1 hour\, no interval \n\n\n\nCamden People’s Theatre\, 58-60 Hampstead Rd\, NW1 2PY \n\n\n\nTickets £8-£12 – 20% discount if you book before 14th Feb! 25% discount if you book for more than 1 show in CPT’s spring season here \n\n\n\nAge guidance: 12+ \n\n\n\nContent warnings: Strong language\, themes of climate anxiety\, audience participation\, loud noises and flashing lights. SUMMARY:Halloween Spooky Walks at Lauderdale House
DESCRIPTION:Our super spooky Halloween walks are back! Join a host of creepy characters on an adventure around Lauderdale House and Waterlow Park on the most sinister night of the year! \nFAQs\n\nIs it scary? \nThis obviously depends on your child to a large extent. You will be going around the park in the dark\, which can be creepy. However\, you will be in a group with 50 other people as well as stewards. Our actors appear as classic Halloween characters  Some of them are good humoured and fun; some of them are a bit spookier… and there’s always at least one ‘baddie’. We try to find a balance between making it a bit scary at times – it’s Halloween after all – and also funny and fun. \nWhat age is it for? \nAgain\, every child is different. On average 5 to 9-year-olds enjoy it the most\, but we regularly have little ones who have a ball and less cynical over 9’s really enjoy the fun of it too. All children must be accompanied by an adult.  \nWhat happens if it rains? \nThese shows are outside but demons and witches aren’t worried by a drop of rain so we’ll go ahead regardless unless we judge it to be dangerous. Wear your wellies\, put on your waterproofs and make the most of it! \nHow long does the walk last? \nAround 45 minutes. \nCan I bring babies? \nWe understand that it’s not always practical to leave a baby at home if you are bringing other children so are happy for you to bring young ones but please note they will need to be carried as it is not feasible to accommodate pushchairs. You do not need to purchase a ticket/space for children under 2 years old. \nIs it wheelchair accessible? \nWe regret that Waterlow Park itself is not entirely accessible. If you or your children are in a wheelchair\, please call or email us and we’ll discuss what we can do to make sure you get the best experience \nCan I order food and drink? \nOur cafe will be open to order drinks and snacks.

SUMMARY:From Pub to Pulpit - Concert
DESCRIPTION:A hugely successful concert tour that has seen thousands of people across the country singing together to turn folk songs into hymns will have a final performance in Camden Town on 14th October as a fundraiser for St Michael’s Church. \n\n\n\nThe critically acclaimed From Pub to Pulpit tour features Camden folk group Broomdasher and The Pagoda Project and has wowed full houses at more than twenty Cathedrals and Festivals\, celebrating Ralph Vaughan Williams’ 150th birthday. St Michael’s in Camden Town will be the only Central London venue of the year-long tour. \n\n\n\nIn the concert\, the audience joined the organ\, choir and two groups in a unique and rousing tribute to Vaughan Williams\, a renowned folk song collector. He borrowed the tunes from some of the working people’s favourite folk songs to use for some of the best hymns in the 1906 English hymn he edited.

SUMMARY:Good Ship Comedy presents Ian Stone
DESCRIPTION:Ranked amongst the top ten stand-ups in Britain by The Independent\, Ian Stone is one of the country’s most talented topical acts and comperes. Edgy and provocative\, with an easy-going manner and self-deprecating style\, Ian is easily bantering with an audience. He is a regular on BBC Radio 5 Live’s ‘Fighting Talk’ and a presenter (and huge Gooner advocate) on BT Sport. \n\n\n\nHe has performed worldwide\, including at Comedy Festivals in Australia\, New Zealand\, Hong Kong\, South Africa\, Holland\, France\, Ireland and Germany. He’s entertained the troops in Kuwait\, Bosnia\, Kosovo\, Cyprus and Afghanistan. He was the first British stand-up in Moscow and the first performer to appear for The Comedy Store in Mumbai. \n\n\n\n“Seriously funny.” The Guardian \n\n\n\n“Like a cross between Tony Hancock and Frankie Howerd. Stone is probably better than we deserve. Ultimately\, it is the sheer quantity of funny material that really impresses.” The List \n\n\n\nPlus support from Andy Field\, Robyn Perkins and MC Ben Van der Velde

SUMMARY:Supermodels Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:In the eerie setting of a building site awaiting refurbishment\, multidisciplinary design and architecture studio Piercy&Company presents a performance of animated models of their buildings and projects – reconnecting our digital and physical worlds through a childlike sense of wonder and delight as their amazing models spring into life. \nResonating with the mysterious allure of miniature objects with lives of their own – think doll’s houses\, cuckoo clocks and model railways – Supermodels employs mechanical automata\, projection mapping\, scent and lighting to create a new\, more engaging way of communicating architectural concepts. \nExploring exciting new possibilities for an age-old form of architectural communication\, Supermodels distils the studio’s 20 years of research into the sensory and haptic dimensions of architecture. Each model encapsulates the essence of Piercy&Company‘s design approach to building typologies spanning from commercial developments to churches. \nThe models were handmade by Piercy&Company’s architecture team to explore and test experiential aspects of architecture\, including the spatial\, the tectonic and the tactile. \n  \nDates \nFriday 25 November until Sunday 11 December \n  \nOpening Hours \n12pm-7pm Monday to Friday \n12pm-5pm Saturday and Sunday \nor by appointment supermodels@piercyandco.com \n  \n  \nAddress \nJahn Court\, Regent Quarter \n34 York Way (entrance of York Way) \nLondon \nN1 9AB
