SUMMARY:What Nature Tells Me – Orchestra for the Earth
DESCRIPTION:What Nature Tells Me\n\n\nAlpine Tour Launch Concert\n\n\n\n\nSaturday 20 June 2026 · 7.30pm \nSt John’s Waterloo\, SE1 8TY \nPublic booking is open. \nPrice – Pay what you can (suggested: £15) \nOrchestra for the Earth launches its 2026 Alpine Tour\, What Nature Tells Me\, with a London concert at St John’s Waterloo on Saturday 20 June\, before travelling by train and coach to Austria for a series of performances and education projects in places closely connected to Gustav Mahler’s life and music. \nNow in its ninth year\, the Alpine Tour has become one of the orchestra’s defining projects: an ongoing exploration of the relationship between music\, landscape and listening\, centred on Mahler and the Alpine environments in which much of his music was conceived.\nThe 2026 programme\, What Nature Tells Me\, traces a single musical arc through Mahler’s life\, from the freshness and folk-like early songs to the profound stillness of ‘Der Abschied’ (‘The Farewell) from Das Lied von der Erde (‘The Song of the Earth’). The London concert features\nrising British baritone Michael Lafferty\, with Mahler’s works arranged for chamber orchestra by conductor John Warner. \nThe programme also includes the world premiere of Eat Your Rage\, a new commission by London-based composer Zhenyan Li\, whose work has been performed by ensembles including the London Symphony Orchestra and Ensemble Modern. The commission is a response to Mahler’s musical evocations of nature and forms part of OE’s ongoing commitment to placing new music alongside established repertoire within the same artistic and environmental context. \nFollowing the London launch\, the orchestra travels to Austria from 22–26 June\, including a performance at the Gustav Mahler Festival in Steinbach am Attersee\, where Mahler spent several summers composing\, and a concert on an open-air stage in Steinach am Brenner\, another\nplace closely associated with his summer retreats. When Bruno Walter visited Mahler in Steinbach in 1896\, he marvelled at the surrounding landscape. Mahler replied simply: “No need to look around — I have already composed it all.” The Alpine Tour returns that idea to its source\, placing the music back into dialogue with the\nenvironments that helped shape it. \nMarina Mahler\, Founding Patron of Orchestra for the Earth\, said: “It is deeply moving to see my grandfather’s music brought back into the landscapes that inspired it\, and to see young people included in that experience. This kind of thoughtful\, living engagement with Mahler’s work is both true to its origins and urgently relevant now.” \nWhat Nature Tells Me takes place at St John’s Waterloo\, London\, on Saturday 20 June 2026 at 7.30pm. \nLondon is the home to several dynamic String Ensembles\, including soloists and String Quartets. They are available for hire from Music for London.

SUMMARY:Summer Music in City Churches – ‘Around the World’ – Concerts in the Square Mile
DESCRIPTION:A nine-day celebration of music in the City of London \nSet in the heart of London’s historic Square Mile\, Kestrel Music’s nine-day festival\, Summer Music in City Churches\, returns with a world-class roster of artists taking a musical voyage ‘Around the World’. Hosted across five atmospheric\, acoustically rich churches\, this year’s theme explores music inspired by cities\, landscapes and traditions. From traditional song and jazz arrangements\, to lush choral harmonies and orchestral favourites\, the programme celebrates sounds of town and country\, both at home and abroad. \nGuest artists are drawn from the finest musicians and collaborative partnerships performing internationally today\, including Rachel Nicholls and Michael Dussek\, Lucy Parham with Juliet Stevenson\, Mark Bebbington with Alistair McGowan\, and Iain Farrington’s jazz trio. Joining them will be multi-talented duo Eleanor Grant and Gus McQuade\, and young singers from Hackney Choral. A wealth of chamber music further enriches the programme\, with lunchtime performances by Brother Tree Sound\, Tier3 Trio\, Cassatt Trio\, and Sonas Quartet. \nOpening the festival\, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Gergely Madaras conjure the Mediterranean warmth of Spain and Italy in works by Rossini\, Ravel and Mendelssohn. They are joined by guitarist Jack Hancher\, 2022 Royal Overseas League Gold Medalist and EuroStrings Artist\, as soloist in Rodrigo’s evocative Concierto de Aranjuez. \nThere are opportunities to hear the City of London Choir led by Daniel Hyde on two contrasting occasions performances; as part of a Festival Choral Evensong in the grand tradition of British cathedrals\, and to celebrate traditional song rooted in the land – from George Shearing’s jazz settings to Elgar in Bavaria\, in the festival’s delightful finale\, ‘Islands and Highlands’. \nSummer Music in City Churches was founded in 2018\, presenting beautiful music to engage\, divert and inspire\, in ancient and architecturally stunning churches in London’s Square Mile. Standing cheek by jowl with City offices\, these churches are glorious settings in which to listen and reflect: oases of history\, beauty and peace amidst the 24-7 hurly-burly of City life. \nFurther information and how to book \nFull programme\, venues\, timings and ticket sales can be found on the website. \nTicket prices range from £15 to £35\, with half-price discounts available for students and those under 25. SUMMARY:Marmalade and Masquerades - Live Performance with Narration
DESCRIPTION:Marmalade and Masquerades \nAndré Caplet: Conte Fantastique (1922) after Edgar Allan Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death\, for harp\, narrator and string quartet. Story adapted by Erin Muldoon. \nHerbert Chappell: Paddington’s First Concert (mid-1970s)\, arranged for the same ensemble by Roger Montgomery. \nTravel from the familiar warmth of 32\, Windsor Gardens\, home to London’s favourite bear\, into the shadowy world of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death. This imaginative programme brings together two contrasting tales\, showing how music can express both light and dark\, comfort and mystery. \nThrough engaging live performance with narration\, children and families will discover how composers use sound to tell stories. Some feel cosy\, playful\, and curious. Others are dramatic\, eerie and full of suspense. Each invites listeners to picture characters\, places and emotions in their own way. \nOn one side\, Paddington Bear’s world is brought to life through music that celebrates kindness\, humour and small everyday adventures. On the other hand\, André Caplet’s Conte Fantastique draws us into a darker\, more mysterious atmosphere\, inspired by Poe’s haunting tale of Prince Prospero’s abbey. \nPlaced side by side\, these works reveal how music can spark imagination across very different moods and stories. Together\, they offer a rich and memorable introduction to the power of musical storytelling. \nTo Hire String Quartets  & Harpists in London for Private and Corporate Events\, visit Music for London.

SUMMARY:Tales of Passion and Joy - Concert - Piano Quintets
DESCRIPTION:Vaughan Williams: Piano Quintet in C minor \nSchubert: Piano Quintet in A major D. 667 “The Trout” \nThis programme pairs the Piano Quintet in C minor by Ralph Vaughan Williams with the Piano Quintet in A major\, D. 667 (“Trout”) by Franz Schubert\, offering a focused exploration of how composers have reimagined the piano quintet across time. \nSchubert’s “Trout” Quintet (1819) is notable for its unusual scoring\, replacing the second violin with double bass. This creates a lighter\, more transparent texture and allows the piano to function as an equal partner rather than a dominant voice. The famous variation movement on his song Die Forelle reflects Schubert’s gift for lyricism and clarity of form. \nVaughan Williams’ Piano Quintet (1903) adopts the same instrumentation but produces a markedly different sound world. Richer and more expansive in texture\, it reflects his early engagement with late Romantic style alongside emerging traits of his mature voice\, including modal harmony and broad\, song-like themes. \nTogether\, these works highlight both continuity and contrast: a shared interest in instrumental balance\, but distinct approaches to texture\, form\, and pastoral expression. Schubert’s music evokes lightness and movement\, while Vaughan Williams offers a more reflective and spacious soundscape. Heard side by side\, they present the piano quintet as a flexible and evolving genre. \n  \nClassical Concert Pianists are available for private recitals in London & the rest of the UK via Music for London.

SUMMARY:Nine Sixteenths - London Theatre
DESCRIPTION:At the end of a 25-date UK tour\, the fast\, fun multimedia theatre show Nine Sixteenths\, inspired by the media rise\, fall and rise again of Janet Jackson\, is set for a run at Brixton House\, 19-30 May \n  \nAt the 2004 Super Bowl\, Justin Timberlake exposed Janet Jackson’s breast and nipple to a huge live TV audience for nine sixteenths of a second. This brief moment derailed Jackson’s career for many years\, while Timberlake’s thrived. \n  \nNine Sixteenths unpacks the rise\, fall\, and rise again of global pop superstar Jackson\, and what this says about how black women are treated by the media. Created by artist/theatre-maker Paula Varjack\, it explores coming of age in the 1990s and the hugely influential role Jackson played\, especially for young black women. It’s fast\, fun and hugely entertaining – the venue and audience are transported to a world of stadium concerts and TV studios. It takes the audience on a journey\, exploring themes of representation and pop culture with a nostalgia for the early 00’s\, and the hopes and dreams of four black female performers through a visual variety of devised theatre\, dance\, and lip-sync. \n  \nIt amply demonstrates how Jackson helped shape our contemporary cultural landscape\, paving the way for artists such as Britney Spears\, Beyoncé\, and Rihanna\, and shows how a struggling video-sharing site called YouTube began attracting clicks when it became the place to rewatch the incident! \n  \nThe tour took in cities including Manchester\, Leeds\, Bristol\, Coventry\, Wolverhampton\, Leicester\, Brighton\, Nottingham\, Oxford and many more. \n  \nPaula said ‘Janet Jackson was a tremendous icon to me at a time when I had relatively few black female artists to look to. She was a game changer in so many ways – and did it on her terms. After her ‘wardrobe malfunction’\, the music industry let her down in ways so effective that many thought her career faded away. Yet she kept working\, making music and films. Now\, finally\, the injustice of what happened is being recognised. In the end\, it’s the art that matters. As an iconic role model for many black women and an outspoken ally for the LGBTQI+ community\, she made great art. The show also looks at why role models matter and the lack of older female role models of colour\, and the role that (largely) white male media executives play in deciding who thrives in mainstream pop culture. \n  \nWho was invested in the backlash and became obsessed with blocking Jackson’s success? Who joked over her humiliation? How have all those involved profited since? \n  \nAll dates feature British Sign Language by Jacqui Beckford and Vinessa Brant as an integral part of the production.

SUMMARY:Colin Blunstone: Believe In Miracles Tour
DESCRIPTION:Colin Blunstone\, lead singer of The Zombies and acclaimed Solo Artist\, returns to UK stages with the “Believe In Miracles” Tour\, his first national solo outing in 7 years.  The tour title is a nod to Blunstone’s 1972 hit “I Don’t Believe In Miracles” (penned by Argent singer/guitarist Russ Ballard)\, but is also a reflection on his remarkable 7-decade career.  Blunstone relates\, “I joined The Zombies as a teen\, thinking it would be a two or three-year adventure.  Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined it would lead to a lifetime in music…and that at the tender age of 80\, I’d be the subject of a documentary\, recording a new album and embarking on a major tour!  His career-spanning show will feature classics from The Zombies\, favourites from his solo releases and collaborations\, and debut new material from his forthcoming studio album.   \nThe Bangles’ Susanna Hoffs said it best during her heartfelt speech inducting The Zombies into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in March 2019:  “Colin…your voice is just plain sexy!” \nThe world first fell in love with that mysteriously silky voice from The Zombies’ 1960s singles “She’s Not There”\, “Tell Her No” and “Time of the Season”.  The band’s untimely demise in late 1967 led Blunstone into a solo career which began in earnest with the release of the lush and string-laden One Year in 1971\, produced by former Zombies’ bandmates Rod Argent and Chris White\, which scored him a Top 15 UK hit with Denny Laine’s “Say You Don’t Mind”.  He has released 10 albums of his own over a period spanning more than 50 years\, including 1972’s Ennismore and 1974’s Journey\, and has lent his remarkable pipes to the recordings of many others\, most notably the Alan Parsons Project\, who featured Blunstone on their 1982 hit “Old and Wise\,” as well as on several albums.  \nA chance reunion with Rod Argent in 1999 brought about a 25-year resurgence for The Zombies\, prolifically touring the world and releasing new material.  In the midst\, Blunstone still managed to record three solo releases – The Ghost Of You And Me in 2009\, On The Air Tonight in 2012 and most recently\, the EP Less is More in early 2024\, a set of 5 sparsely-recorded demos showcasing those velvety vocals accompanied only by acoustic guitar. \nBlunstone celebrated his 80th birthday in June at the London premiere of Hung Up On A Dream: The Zombies Documentary\, the first-ever feature film chronicling the band’s journey from teenage friends to Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees (now available on AppleTV and Amazon).   \nWith Argent’s retirement for health reasons in 2024\, Blunstone is refocusing on his solo career while also continuing to celebrate the legacy of The Zombies.  A new album is planned for release in 2026.

SUMMARY:Don Quixote: Where Passion\, Fire and Every Body Takes the Stage - London Theatre
DESCRIPTION:London Ballet Theatre brings Don Quixote to London this May\, and if you have ever thought that ballet is not for you\, this is the production that will change your mind entirely. \nLondon Ballet Theatre is not like other ballet companies. Built on the belief that dance belongs to everybody\, LBT opens its stage to dancers of all backgrounds\, ages\, abilities\, and body types. There is no body shaming here\, no impossible physical ideal to conform to\, no single vision of what a dancer must look like. LBT Pro brings together accomplished professional artists performing at the very highest level\, while LBT Community welcomes dancers of every experience and ability into the same creative family. Both share the same stage\, the same passion\, and the same conviction that everyone has a role. This is what #ForDancersByDancers truly means\, and you will feel it the moment the curtain rises. \nOn stage\, Don Quixote is pure joy. Set to Minkus’s irresistible\, endlessly energetic score\, it is one of the most vibrant and exhilarating ballets in the classical repertoire: a story of romance\, adventure\, comedy\, and the magnificent stubbornness of the human spirit. LBT’s production is performed with breathtaking passion and technical brilliance\, and it has been crafted to be as thrilling for a first-time audience as it is for a lifelong ballet devotee. \nWhat makes this production truly distinctive is the way it brings the story to life. Video narrations introduce each scene before the dancing begins\, gently and engagingly guiding every audience member into Cervantes’s world so that no one ever feels lost or excluded. Cinematic projections form a vivid\, atmospheric backdrop throughout\, transporting the audience to the sun-drenched plazas and golden landscapes of Spain. The result is a seamless and spellbinding fusion of live ballet\, film and visual artistry that feels unlike anything else currently on the London stage. \nThis season is presented in proud cooperation with the Lord Mayor of Westminster and the British Film Festival. London Ballet Theatre is a sell-out company\, and audiences are warmly encouraged to secure their tickets early. \nWhether you are bringing someone to their very first ballet\, looking for a spectacular and unusual evening out\, or searching for a performance that genuinely reflects the diversity and spirit of this city\, Don Quixote at London Ballet Theatre is your answer. \nLooking to hire Dancers for your Next Events. Music for London has a dedicated dancers for hire category.

SUMMARY:Alkanna Graeca: live at The Jazz Cafe - Jazz Concert 19/05/26
DESCRIPTION:Alkanna Graeca is a vocal trio weaving Balkan folk traditions with free improvisation and expansive soundscapes. Formed by Dunja Botic\, Alexandra Achillea\, and Irini Arabatzi\, they channel the heritage of their homelands into a ritualistic exploration of voice—songs carrying mountain echoes\, stripped bare\, reshaped\, and reborn\, blurring past and present. \nIrini’s voice\, shaped by her Greek roots\, jazz and South American influences\, has taken her to international stages. Dunja\, a Serbian-Greek singer and actress\, moves seamlessly between theatre and music\, drawing inspiration from Maqam and jazz. Alexandra’s background in classical\, folk\, and experimental music has carried her from opera houses to underground scenes. Together\, they create a sound that is earthy\, timeless\, and steeped in tradition—stripped bare\, transformed\, and reborn through improvisation. \n  \nMusic for London is one of the premier Jazz Band booking agencies in London for concerts\, parties and events

SUMMARY:The Long Play Sessions: Scott Rowley with Stay Alive: The Life and Death of Stuart Adamson
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a powerful and deeply human evening with author and music journalist Scott Rowley as he discusses STAY ALIVE: The Life and Death of Stuart Adamson — the first fully co‑operative and definitive account of the life\, legacy and tragic death of one of Scotland’s most influential and enigmatic musicians. \nThis event is part of The Long Play Sessions\, ICMP’s curated series spotlighting transformative writers\, artists and cultural voices who shape the way we understand music\, identity and creative expression. Each session opens a window into the stories behind the art — blending conversation\, cultural history and lived experience. \nIn STAY ALIVE\, Rowley traces the remarkable rise and haunting decline of Stuart Adamson\, founder of both The Skids and Big Country. Drawing on unprecedented access to Adamson’s family\, bandmates\, private writings and never‑before‑seen material\, Rowley paints a vivid portrait of a man whose talent\, turmoil and working‑class pride helped define a generation of post‑punk and alternative rock. \nFrom the chaotic energy of late‑70s Scotland\, to global fame with Big Country\, to the battles with addiction\, trauma and depression that shadowed his later years\, Rowley’s narrative is unflinching\, tender\, and profoundly revealing. Far more than a music biography\, STAY ALIVE explores the weight of expectation\, the wounds we carry from childhood\, and the quiet struggles that fame can magnify rather than soothe. \nAdamson’s story — tragic\, inspiring and heartbreakingly human — resonates far beyond his era. It asks what it means to be an artist\, a father\, a survivor… and what happens when the world sees only the legend\, not the man. \nWith praise from critics and musicians alike\, this long‑overdue book is already being hailed as a definitive work on one of Scotland’s most compelling creative figures. \nTickets available here and currently on a limited 2-4-1 offer – https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-long-play-sessions-scott-rowley-with-tony-butler-stay-alive-tickets-1987598655082?aff=oddtdtcreator \nPurchase the book here:\nhttps://bit.ly/stayalivescottrowley \nWhat to Expect\n\nA talk from Scott Rowley exploring the making of STAY ALIVE\, the revelations uncovered\, and the emotional weight of telling Adamson’s story\nIn‑depth discussion of creativity\, trauma\, addiction\, fame\, and the pressures placed on artists in the post‑punk and alternative rock scenes\nBehind‑the‑scenes insight into Rowley’s research\, interviews and unprecedented access to Adamson’s family and archives\nReflections on legacy\, working‑class identity and how one man’s music resonated across generations\nAudience Q&A\, offering the chance to engage directly with Rowley about Adamson’s life\, the writing process and the cultural impact of The Skids and Big Country\nBook signing — bring your copy or purchase one at the event\n\nWe look forward to welcoming you to The Long Play Sessions for a moving\, honest and unforgettable evening centred on one of Scotland’s most important — and most misunderstood — musical icons. \n\n\n\nLocation\nThe Venue\, ICMP (Queens Park Campus)\, NW6 6PA

SUMMARY:DEAR NORA + TAI HAF HEB DRIGOLYN
DESCRIPTION:Upset The Rhythm presents… \nDEAR NORA (DUO)\nTAI HAF HEB DRIGOLYN\nWednesday 22 April\nThe Lexington\, 96-98 Pentonville Rd\, Angel\, London\, N1 9JB\n7.30pm | £12 | Tickets: https://link.dice.fm/F39394c4d08b \nDEAR NORA is an ever-evolving indie-pop band fronted by songwriter/producer Katy Davidson\, and features a rotating cast of collaborators. Davidson was born in Arizona and has also lived in Oregon and California. The energy\, intensity\, and vastness of the western United States landscape imbue the songwriting and recordings. \nDear Nora has existed in two distinct eras – 1999-2008 and 2017-present – with a roughly decade-long break in the middle (the “Lost Years”)\, during which Davidson fronted various side projects and played session guitar/keyboards in the bands YACHT and Gossip. Dear Nora’s early music leans more toward pop-punk\, DIY\, confessional\, and youthful. The contemporary music leans more poetic\, expansive\, genre-bending\, and wise. The through-lines between Dear Nora’s two eras are: melodic hooks\, vocal harmonies\, and lyrics about time\, space\, capitalism\, the internet\, daily life vérité\, ancient things\, real vs. unreal or surreal\, and all kinds of relationships. \nPartially because Dear Nora’s early years happened before the rise of smartphones and social media (prior to hyper digital documentation)\, and because very little content survives this era aside from the analogue recordings\, the group is often described as “legendary” (as in\, “legend/myth”). Rediscovered via streaming platforms and word of mouth\, Dear Nora’s music has influenced many young songwriters. \nhttps://dearnora.bandcamp.com/ \nTAI HAF HEB DRIGOLYN are a band from Wales. Built atop of a DIY Ethos\, THHD have a fantastic ability to merge their musical brain with real life surroundings\, perfectly represented by “Ein Albwm Cyntaf Ni” recorded straight onto tape directly sampling the sounds that they recorded over. It’s rare for music this genuine and human to arrive with this quality and quantity; this is a special act that has to be seen to be believed. THHD are obsessed with the Elephant 6 collective\, and as such have members spread across the country; they also stumble in the footsteps of R. Pollard and D. R. Edwards. \nhttps://taihafhebdrigolyn.bandcamp.com/

SUMMARY:LANDE HEKT + THE POPGUNS + MUMBLE TIDE
DESCRIPTION:Upset The Rhythm presents….. \nLANDE HEKT\nTHE POPGUNS\nMUMBLE TIDE\nSunday 19 April\nMOTH Club\, Old Trades Hall\, Valette St\, London\, E9 6NU\n7pm | £13.50 | Tickets: https://link.dice.fm/f4d01f8d742e \nLANDE HEKT has quietly become one of the UK’s best underground songwriters. On her 2021 debut full-length\, Going To Hell\, and 2022’s House Without a View\, she explored her queer identity\, sobriety\, and childhood trauma through the lens of heartfelt\, conversational indie-pop\, which led to spots opening for the likes of Alvvays\, Throwing Muses\, and The Beths. Her new album\, Lucky Now\, written and recorded with producer Matthew Simms (Wire\, It Hugs Back)\, reflects the most mature and confident version of Lande Hekt yet. “I’m not as concerned about how I’m presenting myself\,” Hekt says. “I’ve tried to think less about how things are coming across\, and just write songs that make me feel connected to myself and what I value.”\nHekt’s musical touchstones – The Wedding Present\, The Sundays\, The Replacements – remain the same\, but at the same time\, she’s delved deeper into other influences. Lucky Now is indebted to 1980s twee-pop and jangle-pop like The Pastels\, Tallulah Gosh and The Bats\, as well as to more modern iterations of the sound\, such as Autocamper and Jeanines\, in its ecstatic\, soaring melodies and gorgeous\, tactile guitars. The sound is fitting for Hekt’s new lyrical outlook\, where\, though despair and anxiety rear their heads\, she digs deep to find the gratitude. During the album’s recording\, Hekt also moved from Bristol back to her hometown of Exeter. In a lot of ways\, Lucky Now is about return – return to joy\, return to places and parts of the self once left behind. Who you once were can seem unreachable\, but sometimes you can build a bridge. \nhttps://landehekt.bandcamp.com \nTHE POPGUNS are an indie pop band formed in Brighton in 1986\, known for their melodic sound\, chiming guitars\, and the vocals of Wendy Morgan (now Pickles). Often associated with the late 80s/early 90s indie scene\, they achieved success with singles like “Landslide” and quintessential albums ‘Eugenie’ and ‘Snog’ before a hiatus. In 2012\, the band resumed live performances with six gigs. A three-track 7″ single\, “Lovejunky”\, was released in late 2014\, followed by a new album\, ‘Pop Fiction’\, on Matinée Recordings. Soundblab ranked the album at Number 2 on their Top 10 Releases of the year. The band have continued to tour and record new material\, and released the single “So Long” in May 2017\, followed quickly by the album ‘Sugar Kisses’.\nhttps://thepopguns.bandcamp.com/ \nMUMBLE TIDE is a Bristol-based DIY indie-pop duo formed by vocalist/lyricist Gina Leonard and multi-instrumentalist/producer Ryan Rogers. Known for their “scrappy” bedroom-pop sound\, the former couple creates music that blends grunge\, folk\, and electronic elements. Inspired by the free-flowing rhythms of 60’s American folk\, the aim was to find a balance between Roger’s vivid arrangements and Leonard’s evocative lyrics\, one that truly captured the bittersweet depths of their songwriting. The group’s debut album\, ‘Might As Well Play Another One’\, was released last year on Breakfast Records. \nhttps://mumbletide.bandcamp.com/music

SUMMARY:The House - Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:IMT Gallery presents The House\, an exhibition of works by Tom Clark\, Guest-Host-Guest\, Harri Harrison\, Heiðdís Hólm\, Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson\, Anna Sebastian\, Kristina Stallvik and Suzanne Treister. It features work that all\, often through degrees of autobiography\, speaks to some of the discordances of being at home: perhaps the anticipation of order amidst the everyday; or an expectation of comfort\, often amidst insecurity or tension. \nThe exhibition is a place where we might live. Often\, when visitors come to this gallery\, they ask her if she lives here. They ask\, “Do you live here?” They ask\, “Are these your cats?” I lived here once too. I don’t anymore. This exhibition is about living somewhere. Perhaps it is about reaching for this thing. \nIn the words of Guest-Host-Guest: ‘Here\, the house is a metaphor for assumed belonging. A place we are expected to be ‘resolved’ or ‘satisfied’\, even when displacement\, precarity\, and contested ownership sit just beneath the surface.’ \nThe exhibition is a hand with a mirror in front of it. The mirror reflects some flowers or a field. Behind the hand is a sky. In front of the sky is a blank\, featureless wall. All these things at various distances from the camera. A cat; a home; a gallery; a municipality listed on a birth certificate (since burned). The house. \nCurating at Home: Making Personal Spaces of Creative Agency\nOnline Course with Dr Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson \nApril – May 2026 \nOrganised to coincide with The House\, join us for a four-session online course exploring how we live with art\, and how the art we live with shapes the way we live. \nHeld fortnightly\, Curating at Home: Making Personal Spaces of Creative Agency invites you to look closely at the rooms\, objects\, and artworks that surround you. Drawing on art practices\, histories\, philosophy\, exhibition-making\, and practices of everyday attention\, we will explore how meaning is shaped through arrangement\, context\, and the lived rhythms of domestic space. \nLed by artist\, educator\, and curator Dr Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson and hosted by IMT Gallery\, each session brings together case studies\, creative exercises\, and guided activities designed to help you think with and through your own environment. \nPlaces are limited — the course begins 12 April. DESCRIPTION:This spring\, The Friends of Holland Park once again turns the Orangery at the heart of the park into an art gallery. \nFor more than forty years\, Friends who are artists and artists who become Friends have come together to show and sell their artwork. The colourful presentation of works by more than 80 predominantly local artists ranges from greeting cards and small prints to large paintings\, as well as jewellery\, ceramics\, and sculpture. \n  \nA jury led by curator and artist Gordon French awards cash prizes for artistic excellence in several categories as well as for work that best expresses the Spirit of Holland Park. Visitors can support The Friends of Holland Park by buying a work from the exhibition or by entering the raffle for one of the tempting prizes donated by local businesses. \nEvery year\, one artist is offered a dedicated feature wall for a more extensive presentation. This year\, The Friends invited Gordon French to provide a mini-retrospective of his own creative practice to thank him and his family for organising the art exhibition for the past 12 years. \n  \nThe concept of holding an art show at the heart of Holland Park was introduced by Christopher Wood and the late Sir Hugh Casson\, renowned architect and former President of the Royal Academy\, during their respective tenures as Chairman and President of the Friends of Holland Park. \n  \nWorking in close liaison with the local borough and park staff\, The Friends of Holland Park is a local community group dedicated to the preservation\, protection and improvement of Holland Park as a place of historic and ecological interest and beauty. \n  \nThe exhibition is sponsored by The Ilchester Estates\, which is fitting as the Ilchester family were the last private owners of Holland House.
