SUMMARY:London Ragas Fusion: Flute\, Piano\, Tabla & Ghatam in Dialogue
DESCRIPTION:This November\, London welcomes a truly special evening of Indian Classical Music at Duke Hall\, Royal Academy of Music. On 15th November\, London Ragas Fusion brings together four celebrated maestros\, each carrying a world of tradition and innovation in their art. \nAt the heart of the performance is Pandit Ajay Prasanna\, three-time Grammy-nominated flautist and one of India’s leading bansuri exponents. His music carries both lyrical serenity and creative brilliance\, a sound that has travelled across continents and genres. Alongside him is Shahbaz Hussain. A renowned and accomplished tabla virtuoso\, Shahbaz is considered one of Europe’s finest players\, known for his dynamic and intricate performances in Indian classical music and fusion projects. \nThey are joined by pianist Rekesh Chauhan\, an award-winning pianist renowned for seamlessly blending Indian Classical Music with Western instruments\, and RN Prakash\, a master of the South Indian Ghatam whose earthy\, clay-pot rhythms bring texture and vitality to the ensemble. Together\, these four artists create a confluence of sound where North and South India meet\, and East and West flow into harmony. \nBut this evening is more than music; it is also an invitation to pause\, reflect\, and experience the healing resonance of sound. For centuries\, Indian classical traditions have regarded music as a form of meditation\, a means of restoring balance within ourselves and within our communities. In today’s world\, these timeless practices remind us of the profound connection between music\, mental health\, mindfulness\, and emotional well-being. \nAs the bansuri breathes\, the piano sings\, the tabla speaks\, and the ghatam pulses\, the hall will transform into a sanctuary of rhythm and melody. Whether you are a long-time listener of Indian classical music or discovering it for the first time\, this evening offers not just performance but renewal—a chance to feel uplifted\, connected\, and restored through the universal language of music. \nDoors open at 7:00 PM\, with music starting promptly at 7:30 PM. \nAudience Policy: \n\nUnauthorised filming or photography is not permitted.\nThe use of mobile phones (including texting and silent mode) is not allowed during the event. We kindly ask for your cooperation. Thank you!

SUMMARY:Pascol — Vocal Performance
DESCRIPTION:Following a series of sold-out performances across London over the past year\, Pascol now joins the programme of Voila! Theatre Festival with a special appearance at Theatro Technis on 15 November. \nPascol is an experimental vocal project that invites the audience into a unique\, collaborative performance space. Led by project founder Sasha Gefen — a celebrated musician\, composer\, and music therapist — six vocalists transform personal stories into improvised soundscapes. \nEach performance begins with an invitation: audience members are welcome to share a story or memory. In response\, the ensemble listens\, moves\, and sings together\, composing live\, using only voice and physical expression. No instruments\, no script. \nThe result is a spontaneous creation: a one-of-a-kind musical reflection shaped by the emotions and presence in the room. Harmonies and layered musical textures reflect the feelings of the audience\, becoming a sound mirror for their memories. \nCombining improvisation\, storytelling\, and emotional resonance\, Pascol offers an intimate space where individual stories become collective experiences — fleeting\, expressive\, and deeply human. \n

SUMMARY:Matilda Rowe presents Creases Live
DESCRIPTION:Matilda Rowe brings together some of London’s best musicians to perform her expansive debut project – Creases – for the first time ever\,  in an immersive\, live launch unlike any other. \nIn the round and in two acts\, central force of the independent music scene\, Matilda Rowe\, will be bringing the audience intimately and boldly into the world she has spent the last five years building. \nCreases is an expansive coming-of-age experience\, capturing pockets of humanity in each of its layers. Full of drama and insightful prescience\, Matilda takes you by the hand – with her honest lyrics and powerful voice – through tumultuous turns and raw catharsis. \nInspired by the likes of Nina Simone\, Amy Winehouse\, Portishead\, Lianne La Havas and Laura Marling\, the project oscillates wildly and deliberately across genres with a storytelling spine and beating heart of Jazz. \nHaving been taught and mentored as a teen by Jazz FM Awards 2025 Vocalist of the Year\, Alice Zawadzki\, Matilda is now known for her poignant lyrics and distinctive sound that blends jazz and indie folk. She has captivated audiences across the UK with her magnetic performances\, poetic lyricism and unpredictable melodies\, and has built a loyal following because of it. \nJust as Creases blurs lines of expectation and genre\, the show will do the same\, pushing the boundaries of what a gig can be in the name of storytelling and communal experience. \nCapturing ‘the live’ was at the heart of her intention when she came to producer\, Gareth Finnegan (Comet is Coming\, Imogen Heap)\, with the demos in December 2023. And so\, almost two years later\, it is only right that we let it take the stage it was born for and witness how it breathes. \nWe look forward to seeing you there. \n  \nMusicians Hire London

SUMMARY:Semafor: The Birth of Pop Culture in Prague’s 1960s
DESCRIPTION:Bursting into the 1960s with wit\, charm\, and a rebellious spirit\, Prague’s Semafor Theatre became a beacon of creativity behind the Iron Curtain. The unforgettable duo of Jiří Suchý and Jiří Šlitr brought Czechoslovakia its first wave of modern pop\, offbeat humour\, and a form of rebellion that spoke a language different from that of official power and the media. Their songs became the soundtrack of a generation and a symbol of cultural resistance. In this special event\, music historian and author of Suchý & Šlitr\, Semafor 1959–1969\, Pavel Klusák\, and Jiří Šlitr’s daughter\, Dominika Křesťanová\, share stories\, rare insights\, and the cultural legacy of a duo who defined an era\, and the rebellion that stole a language for its own game. \n\n\n\n\nThis event also marks the recent release of Pavel Klusák’s book Suchý a Šlitr: Semafor 1959–1969 (Host\, 2024\, 456 pages\, ISBN 978-80-275-1813-5)\, which explores the rise of Semafor and its cultural impact during a decade of change. The book\, awarded the Egon Erwin Kisch Prize for non-fiction\, offers a vivid portrait of the duo’s creative world and their lasting influence on Czechoslovak popular culture. \n\nAdmission: £7 (+ Eventbrite fee)\n\nBOOK NOW

SUMMARY:TRISTWCH Y FENYWOD + ANNA PEAKER
DESCRIPTION:Upset The Rhythm presents… \nTRISTWCH Y FENYWOD\nANNA PEAKER\nWednesday 12 November\nSt Matthias Church\, Wordsworth Rd\, London\, N16 8DD\, UK\n7.30pm | £15 | Tickets: https://link.dice.fm/Aec543e61aa5 \nTRISTWCH Y FENYWOD is a band of three queer women who play avant-garde gothic music using dual zyther\, bass and electronic drums. Their lyrics are sung entirely in the Welsh language (Cymraeg)\, and flicker in the moonlight. Tristwch y Fenywod (translated as… The Sadness of Women) are Gwretsien Ferch Lisbeth (Guttersnipe\, Petronn Sphene)\, Leila Lygad (Hawthonn) and Sidni Sarffwraig (Slaylor Moon\, The Courtneys). Formed in 2022 in Leeds\, where the band are primarily based\, Tristwch y Fenywod sounds like an early 4AD group dredged from the waters of an Anglesey swamp. Sapphic love and desire\, existential darkness\, political and environmental anguish/celebration\, psychogeographic romance\, pagan mysticism\, imaginal explorations of Celtic history and myth\, psychedelia\, and myriad other variations of reverie are fantasised through their songs. \nIn August 2024\, they released their self-titled debut album through Night School Records to critical acclaim and have since performed at various UK festivals such as Supernormal and Supersonic\, including two memorable nights with Upset The Rhythm at St Pancras Old Church back in January this year. \nhttps://night-school.bandcamp.com/album/tristwch-y-fenywod \nANNA PEAKER is an artist based in Leeds\, West Yorkshire\, who began experimenting with sound in 2016. Her work centers around quiet electronics\, amplified objects\, and processed autoharp. She has released music with Longform Editions\, Alter\, Infant Tree\, Chocolate Monk\, and Regional Bears.\nhttps://annapeaker.bandcamp.com/

SUMMARY:Suntou Susso: live album launch
DESCRIPTION:Born into the 700-year-old Griot tradition of West Africa\, Suntou Susso is deeply connected to his heritage\, which drives his vision as a musician. Griots are entrusted with the responsibility of preserving the history\, culture and values of their people. They are historians\, storytellers\, community builders\, peace bringers and teachers. \nThrough music and song\, Griots carry the identity of the people through generations. Yet the relevance of Griot teachings extends far beyond their West African roots: the whole world could do with a little more peace\, acceptance and care – for one another and for the planet. These themes permeate his new album Jaliya Silokang – The Path of a Griot\, from new compositions about Gambian environmental struggles with climate change to reimaginations of ancient songs centered around love and family. \nAt this one-off performance in London Suntou will launch his album\, performing it live for the first time alongside a 10-piece ensemble. Expect an intimate\, energetic and life-affirming show as Suntou and his band take you on multiple journeys: to the sunshine of Africa; his culture; and through the album’s messages of love\, peace\, and equality.

SUMMARY:Comedy Unleashed
DESCRIPTION:Comedy Unleashed is a night of free-thinking comedy with comedians who don’t self-censor! \nWhy Comedy Unleashed? \nAndrew Doyle: “Andy Shaw and I set up Comedy Unleashed because we feel that the time is right for a new alternative comedy movement. We book comics from all political backgrounds\, or those who have no interest in politics at all. Our key criteria is that they are talented and funny. ” \nFeaturing: \nAndrew Lawrence \nAndrew has been cancelled again\, this time for a gallows humour joke about the man who drove a car into Liverpool fans. No-one should be cancelled for making jokes\, so we have booked him. \nLawrence first tested the limits of the liberal comedy establishment 11 years ago with a Facebook postin which he excoriated “out of touch\, smug\, superannuated\, overpaid TV comics with their cosy lives in their west-London ivory towers”. \nAnother blow to Lawrence’s conventional career prospects came in 2021 after he joked about England’s penalties defeat in the Euros final. “All I’m saying is\, the white guys scored\,” he posted — the context being a tournament in which players took the knee during the height of the Black Lives Matter movement. \nAndrew is a brilliant comic. Don’t miss him. \nEddy Brimson \nEddy Brimson is top headline act on both the UK and International circuits. He has played festivals worldwide\, from Edinburgh to Auckland\, The Alps to Australia. \nEddy is also a bestselling author on football fan culture\, with over 500\,000 sales worldwide. He has also written two novels: Hooligan\, and the critically acclaimed Naughty Boy. \nTania Edwards \nTania is an utterly middle-class sceptic of middle-class sensibilities\, empty-headed fads and groupthink. She is a super popular comic at the London Comedy Unleashed club. \nNicholas de Santo \nConservative (with a proper big C) Iranian Italian stand-up comedian. One of the most popular acts on the Comedy Unleashed YouTube channel. Nicholas does new material about the issues of the day every time he performs. \nStephen Grant \nA hugely popular MC at the London club. Stephen’s energy and intellect has  won him multiple awards. He makes the place buzz and he has an opinion on everything and everyone. \nTicket buyers will be added to the Comedy Unleashed email newsletter. You’re free to unsubscribe at any time. \n(Artists on the bill may be changed)
