Fest returns to BFI Southbank\, in partnership with ABFF Global: London\, a European spin-off of the American Black Film Festival to celebrate Black film and TV talent both behind and in front of the camera. \n\n\n\nTaking place from 1-3 September in London\, the festival (created by The British Blacklist\, We Are Parable and S.O.U.L. Film) will screen highly anticipated titles at BFI Southbank and Picturehouse Central. \n\n\n\nExpect the usual combination of exclusive preview feature films\, a programme of masterclasses\, panel discussions and practical sessions to support emerging talent in their journey through the film industry and of course parties and events. With partners Sony Pictures\, BBC Comedy\, University of East London and Amazon Studios. \n\n\n\nThis year’s festival features a roster of talent presenting films and TV from genres spanning from documentary to horror to drama. From Friday to Sunday\, take part in screenings and exclusive Q&As. \n\n\n\nOn Saturday\, the S.O.U.L. Shorts and Awards will screen a selection of the very best short films from Black British filmmakers and announce the 2023 S.O.U.L. Fest Awards. The neighbourhood’s collective vocal cords will be warmed up ahead of the film thanks to live entertainers from the VAULT festival.\n\n\n\n\n\nLower Marsh Market traders will be on hand with tasty food options\, while independent bars along Lower Marsh will have various drinks deals to keep larynxes lubricated. At The Glitch\, there will be a 2-4-1 cocktail offer (from 5 pm to 7 pm); at Greensmiths\, moviegoers can get two Aperol Spritzes for £12. Those dressing up (as a character from the evening’s film) can get a 20% discount at the Vaulty Towers bar.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe launch night will centre around a screening of Mamma Mia! – the multi-award-winning film based on the songs of ABBA.\nIn keeping with the theme\, entertainers will welcome the crowd with group games and singing exercises.\n\n\n\n\n\nEurovision 2023 might only be for one day in May\, but ‘Lower Marsh Lates… At The Movies will ensure Londoners can say\n\n\n\n\n\n“Thank you for the music” for the rest of the summer.

DESCRIPTION:‘Sex\, Lies and Spies’ is a series of thought-provoking images from East End photographer Joe Leslie marking the 60th anniversary of Britain’s biggest political scandal of the 20th century – the Profumo Affair. \n\n\n\nFeaturing the main protagonists of the 1960s crisis – government minister John Profumo\, models Christine Keeler and Mandy Rice-Davies\, socialite Stephen Ward\, Russian spy Yevgeny Ivanov\, notorious slum landlord Peter Rachman\, jazz promoter Johnny Edgecombe and jazz singer Lucky Gordon – Leslie has reimaged the scandal through a unique captivating visual  journey\, with Keeler being the main subject. \n\n\n\nThe exhibition explores the entire affair\, from 1961 through to the resignation of Profumo in 1963 and Keeler’s court trial. \n\n\n\nThe artwork is part of Brick Lane Gallery’s Art in Mind exhibition.

A place to vent and grow? \n\n\n\nWe are here for you. \n\n\n\nThis Support Meeting will take place on the last Sunday of every month at The Charing Cross Library (BASEMENT ROOM) \n\n\n\nThere’s no obligation to attend each session. \n\n\n\nOur Support Meetings are where you can truly be open and free to talk about your experiences and be heard and accepted. This group is led by like-minded people with lived experience. The first part of the session is all about venting your stresses. Then\, each meeting focuses on a different topic and uses therapeutic arts to raise self-awareness and encourage acceptance and change. We cover topics like anger\, forgiveness\, self-confidence\, family\, conflict resolution\, self-love etc. \n\n\n\nIt is open to anyone aged 18-35. All discussions are completely confidential (unless your safety is at immediate risk). We will provide you with the materials required. DESCRIPTION:In this live webinar Ryan Delapp\, PhD will transcend typical cultural competency training and share effective and evidence-based approaches to providing culturally responsive treatment and embodying cultural humility. \n\n\n\nDr. Delapp pioneered a groundbreaking initiative known as the REACH Program (Racial\, Ethnic\, and Cultural Healing). This innovative program combines elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to empower BIPOC individuals\, enabling them to embrace and honour their cultural identities. Moreover\, the REACH Program is specifically designed to equip teenagers and young adults with protective skills that effectively alleviate the adverse effects of cultural and racial stressors. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRyan Delapp\, PhD will teach the principles of his REACH Model and offer techniques for providing culturally responsive assessments and treatment planning. Participants will also reflect on their own personal journeys and commitment to cultural humility within and outside the therapeutic milieu.
