Printmaker Loraine Monk presents a body of work tracing the history of social dissent and protest on the ground floor\, while Rachel Pearcey kicks over the traces with her textile works in the upper gallery. \nLoraine Monk creates images using both relief and etching processes\, using the act of cutting to make tactile\, the visceral anger of inequality and political disengagement. Her family were working-class Londoners; inspired by local and community history\, her background has influenced her politics\, academic research and artistic practice.  She has exhibited in a number of independent galleries\, museums and group shows\, including the International Original Print Exhibition\, the Society of Women Artists\, New English Art Club\, Printmakers Council and Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair. \nRachel Pearcey loves textiles and stitching and drawing and making things.  She stitches drawings and words onto second-hand\, vintage or antique linen\, cotton or flax. She creates unbreakable cups and bowls\, teapots and jugs with felt\, wool and linen. Softened with years of wear\, faded\, repaired and darned each piece she uses bears traces of a previous\, often now redundant\, life. DESCRIPTION:Registered Tour Guide Rosalind Vincent from Wide Eyed London will host a walking tour that will explore the urban village’s rich history and heritage\, showcase Instagram-worthy spots\, and treat you to special offers and refreshments from some of the village’s flagship stores and cafes.    \nThe tour begins at the newly installed Marylebone Village Elm Leaf installation on Marylebone Lane. The installation is inspired by the oldest surviving elm tree in London\, located on Marylebone High Street. It survived World War II and the Elm tree disease in the 1970s. The installation has been specially designed to feature a green Elm leaf embossed with ‘Marylebone Village’ in gold to symbolise the area’s rich history linked to the Elm tree.  \nContinuing down Marylebone Lane and Marylebone High Street\, visitors will walk amongst a vibrant stretch of shops\, acclaimed restaurants and cosy cafes – with quieter roads flowing through it. Moxon Street is a haven for food lovers\, Marylebone Lane has a meandering run of small independent boutiques\, and New Cavendish Street is home to a mix of specialist retailers.  \nThe tour finishes with the famous elm tree on Marylebone High Street\, where walkers can admire it in its full glory and learn more about its eventful history.
