DESCRIPTION:Welcome to our improv taster session. Everyone is welcome\, whether you are intrigued by the world of improv\, like drama at school\, acting\, or performing comedy\, or want to explore a new area! \n\n\n\nIn this taster session we’ll show you the basics of improv through a number of exercises and games. You’ll be working on positivity\, collaboration\, listening and playing with the imagination. \n\n\n\nYou’ll discover how surprisingly easy it is to just say the obvious thing\, support each other and then funny scenes happen! At Playface\, we focus on joy and comedy through play and a super supportive atmosphere – we’re going to have so much fun. \n\n\n\nBy the end of the class you’ll have a better understanding of what improv is\, the formats it takes and where to take your improv or comedy journey after the course. \n\n\n\nThis class is great if you want to: \n\n\n\n\nConnect with others\, improve your listening and build something together\n\n\n\nHave fun pretending to be plumbers\, wizards and cats with other adults\n\n\n\nDip your toe into the world of improv\n\n\n\n\nClass size: 8-12 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Teacher\n\n\n\nCharlie Jackson is an improv comedian and clown\, teaching comedy with Playface\, Hoopla and performing with multiple teams and individually. DESCRIPTION:Ho ho ho and welcome to our Playface Christmas Special workshop on character depth for improv comedy! \n\n\n\nIn this class we’re going to look at loads of different ways you can play a character. Did the audience just shout out Santa as a suggestion? In this class the one way we’re NOT going to play Santa as a big jolly old bearded man giving out presents to kids. Instead we’re going to look at techniques to give different twists and levels of depth to our characters. Breaking ourselves out of our usual go to characters and from playing the obvious stereotypes. \n\n\n\n\nWhat would a dog inspired by Santa be like?\n\n\n\nWhat does Santa Claus the grizzled police detective look like?\n\n\n\nHow do we play a sad Santa recovering from a messy divorce?\n\n\n\nRemember when Santa was bullied at school?\n\n\n\nSanta deals with the stressful reality of being pregnant\n\n\n\n\nThis is an intermediate class so you should have completed an introduction to improv course before (at any school). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Teacher\n\n\n\nCharlie Jackson is an improv comedian and clown\, teaching comedy with Playface\, Hoopla and performing with multiple teams and individually. DESCRIPTION:Brahms Requiem and Rheinberger Mass in E flat for Double Choir \n\n\n\nAcknowledged as one of the great choral works of the Romantic era\, Brahms’s German Requiem was clearly intended as a comfort to the living rather than as a requiem for the souls of the dead. This much-loved masterpiece\, with soloists Philippa Boyle and Peter Lidbetter\, is accompanied tonight by a small orchestra of eight instrumentalists along with piano to create a rich and satisfying texture\, retaining much of the original orchestration. \n\n\n\nUnder the direction of their conductor Christopher Herrick\, Twickenham Choral\, one of London’s foremost choirs\, partner the Requiem with the delicious Romantic choral music of Rheinberger’s Mass in E flat for Double Choir.

It was there the like-minded artists formed their first band\, Ceramic Madonna Head\, a short-lived project which included housemates Elizabeth Downing and Peggy Bitzer. By the time the lease was up\, Linda and Peggy had decided to move to New York where they would form a new band called The Woods while Nancy and Elizabeth remained in Baltimore and formed a performance art band called Lambs Eat Ivy. \n\n\n\nWhile playing guitar in The Woods in the mid-80’s Linda purchased her first 4-track cassette recorder and embarked on a pioneering decade of solo\, DIY home recording with a series of cassettes and 7” records of smart and moody singer-songwriter bedroom pop music. This trailblazing period was recently documented on jewel-box compilation ‘Sky Girl’ and Captured Tracks’ retrospective compilation ‘Till Another Time: 1988-1996.’ During this same period Nancy pursued art\, animation and filmmaking. The friends stayed in touch but hadn’t worked on a project together in nearly thirty years. \n\n\n\nIn 2020\, Linda rediscovered in the back of a drawer some old tapes of Nancy’s songs she had recorded for her in the 90’s. In the process of digitizing the old recordings she was inspired to reach out and float the idea of a new collaborative recording project with her old friend. ‘A Passing Cloud’ (Grapefruit/Gertrude Records) is the fruit of their rekindled long-distance musical conversation. All the songs were composed incrementally by passing tracks back and forth between Maine and Maryland\, making for some beguiling pop music that draws us in with a carefully rendered intimacy.https://lindasmith2.bandcamp.com/album/a-passing-cloud \n\n\n\nRATTLE are a UK-based duo\, Rattle focus almost exclusively on drums and more drums\, beneath a delicate overlay of vocal harmonies and percussive effects. Formed by Katharine Eira Brown and Theresa Wrigley\, Rattle began as an experiment in crafting rich songs and melody using drums and voice alone. Their music weaves and intertwines post-punk\, minimalism and experimental rock\, through off-kilter rhythms\, patterns and counter melodies. Rattle effortlessly blend the avant-garde with irresistible melodies and hypnotic drum beats\, using rhythm and harmony to create a refreshing sound that is utterly new – a pretty rare feat these days when we’re saturated with so much music. DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nPRESS INFORMATION FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE \nNEW UK JAZZ LABEL CELEBRATES \nTUBBY HAYES WITH DEBUT RELEASE \nLAUNCH GIG\, 229 LONDON W1 \nMonday December 11th \n  \nIn all its vibrant and diverse history\, British jazz has produced a number of musicians who can truly be considered iconic\, none more so than the virtuoso saxophonist\, composer\, and arranger Tubby Hayes. Hayes was arguably the first and one of very few British jazz stars to crack America. He was invited to perform and record there as a star soloist in his own right\, an honour accorded to very few British jazz instrumentalists.. \nNow\, fifty years after Hayes’s untimely death aged just 38\, a new recording has arrived which presents twelve of his big band compositions and arrangements recorded for commercial release for the very first time. \nThe Tubby Hayes Big Band first appeared in the early 1960s and performed sporadically right up until Hayes’s passing in 1973. During that time the band produced just two albums\, ‘Tubbs Tours’ and ‘100% Proof’. A consequence of this very small output is that the vast majority of Tubby’s big band repertoire was never commercially recorded. \nUntil now. \nSimon Spillett\, himself a virtuoso tenor saxophonist in the Hayes tradition\, has performed the seemingly impossible task of tracking down the lost big band music of Tubby Hayes. Fellow musicians and relatives of Hayes’s long passed contemporaries were instrumental in facilitating this search. The music has been recovered\, restored and recorded by a team of A-list British jazz stars and the album ‘Dear Tubby H’ is released in September on Mister PC Records. \nOnly Simon Spillett has the instrumental ability and specialist knowledge to make such an ambitious project as this a reality\, and it is a fitting follow up to Spillett’s definitive\, critically acclaimed biography of Hayes\, ‘The Long Shadow of the Little Giant’. \nSimon’s friend\, colleague\, and drummer Pete Cater has assumed the role of producer. Cater was so impressed with the audience response to one of the Spillett big band’s early gigs at London’s 100 Club that he decided at that moment to put his money where his mouth is\, so that this music could be recorded to the highest possible standard\, in terms of both musicianship and production\, with no compromises on standards of performance\, audio quality\, and all-round musical integrity. \nPete Cater is no stranger to big band music\, having first fronted his own band in 1983 and produced several albums as a leader. Setting up his own label is a new venture however. DESCRIPTION:Christmas Carol Concert ‘Carols for Pro Bono’\, is due to take place on Thursday 14th December at 6.15 pm at the historic Temple Church in the heart of Legal London. We are delighted that the Lady Chief Justice Sue Carr\, actors Stephen Mangan\, and Alex Macqueen will be joining the London Collegium Musicum on the evening to deliver the celebrity readings. \n\n\n\nFunds raised from the carols will be donated equally to LawWorks and our sister charity\, Advocate\, which will allow them to continue to connect volunteer solicitors and barristers across England and Wales with people in need of legal advice who are not eligible for legal aid and cannot afford to pay and with the not-for-profit organisations that support them. \n\n\n\nLast year\, the Carols welcomed over 300 people to kick start the festive season\, raising over £20\,000 for both charities. This year\, we hope to hit the highest notes and raise more\, enabling us to continue supporting those navigating the justice system alone and improving access to justice for everybody. \n\n\n\nTickets cost £60.00\, including a delicious sparkling wine and mince pie reception.  \n\n\n\nExclusive tickets are selling fast; join in the Christmas cheer and reserve your exclusive ticket now. \n\n\n\nDoors open at 5:30 pm\, with the concert beginning at 6:15 pm. When do I need to do what?\n\n\n\nCreating an elevator pitch for your business to convey a clear understanding of what you are offering\n\n\n\nDevelop a better understanding of your customers\, why this is important and how to do it.\n\n\n\nWhy use buying personas? It allows you to better understand your customers’ priorities not your own.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout our Expert in Residence – Elizabeth Blake\n\n\n\nElizabeth Blake is the Managing Director of Apple Orchard Marketing. She has worked in sales and marketing roles with increasing seniority over the last 30 years. She has worked for companies from multinationals to start-ups. \n\n\n\nAt university\, she trained as a podiatrist. While I enjoyed the healthcare environment\, didn’t feel she was making enough of a difference\, so she moved into a sales role in pharmaceuticals. She realised she loved having involvement in healthcare but in a commercial capacity. Elizabeth then moved into orthopaedics and quickly into marketing. She has held roles\, including a marketing function ever since.
