DESCRIPTION:A concert weaving together some of the most striking baroque violin and continuo sonatas. Heinrich Biber’s remarkable sonatas on each of the 15 Mysteries of the Rosary were dedicated to his employer\, the Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg. Probably written in the 1670s they were virtually unknown until their publication in 1905. Performed by four musicians well-known for their sensitive readings of baroque music\, this is a rare opportunity to hear several from the set\, paired with popular sonatas of the period by Handel and J.S. Bach. \nThis concert is generously supported by Susan and Walter Rudeloff. \nClassical Musicians

Andor Kraszna-Krausz became a leading editor\, reviewer\, and cultural commentator in photography and the moving image. After relocating to Britain in 1937\, he established Focal Press\, which he developed into the world’s foremost photography publisher. By his retirement in 1978\, Focal Press had produced more than 1\,200 titles\, selling over 50 million books globally in multiple languages. Beyond publishing\, AKK was known for his cultured interests—from motor cars and antiques to literature and his beloved dogs.\nThis lecture presents new research and fresh insights into AKK’s extraordinary career and personal passions. DESCRIPTION:It has always been a star-studded evening. Last year\, we had readings from Lyse Doucet CM OBE\, award-winning Chief International Correspondent and Senior Presenter for BBC World News television and radio\, and our wonderful Patron\, the Lord Cope of Berkeley PC. Soprano Bibi Heal and Stephen Barlow entertained us with stunning solos. In 2023\, our Patron\, Dame Joanna Lumley\, joined us as a Guest Reader! \nWe are delighted that Thames Fanfare Brass will raise the roof again this year. What would a Christmas Concert be without a Trumpet Fanfare?! The angelic voices of the Queen’s Gate School Choirs will fill the church with gorgeous songs\, wonderful harp music by Lesley Magee\, and plenty of favourite Christmas Carols\, too! More Guests to be announced soon. \nWe look forward to welcoming you again in 2025 for the most magical start to the Festive Season. Every penny raised in profit will help Kids for Kids provide essentials to Darfur children in desperate need. The violence over the past 23 months has been far worse than anything we have experienced over the years. Darfur continues to face bitter conflict\, and the indirect effects of violence are almost worse: disease\, starvation and hunger in this century. We provide sacks of seed for planting and Kids’ Kitchen Kits for families with small children\, including pulses\, lentils\, powdered meat\, ground nuts and even fresh produce. Children have been deprived of protein for months. By attending our Candlelit Christmas Concert\, you will enable us to reach many more families. They need you\, need us\, right now. \nThe concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be followed by Mulled Wine and Mince Pies (included in your ticket). It’s the perfect way to start Christmas Carols by Candlelight.

DESCRIPTION:Simon Picard gained fame first with his award-winning Stinky Winkles. But it was as the “P”. in the outstanding trio\, R.P.M. that Picard received critical acclaim. He was a star among an older generation. Tony Marsh was a familiar name\, but the younger men were an amazing surprise. A new line-up was created – 7 R.P.M. 7 R.P.M. was added to the lineup. Simon performed regularly at Bracknell Jazz Festival where he also appeared with Trevor Watts Moire Music and John Stevens Folkus. His other ventures include membership in Barry Guy’s London jazz composers’ orchestra\, numerous projects with Keith Tippett and Elton Dean\, as well leading his own groups. \nLine-up: Simon Picard – tenor saxophone\, Mike Gorman – piano\, Neville Malcolm – bass\, Dave Ingamells – drums\, Henry Lowther – trumpet \nKaramel – 4 Coburg Road\, London N22 6UJ.
