SUMMARY:The Freshwater Five
DESCRIPTION:5 Fishermen. £53 million of cocaine. An ongoing fight for justice \nIn 2011\, five fishermen on the Isle of Wight (Jamie Green\, Jon Beere\, Daniel Payne\, Scott Birtwistle & Zoran Dresic) were sentenced to a total of 104 years for conspiracy to import £53m worth of cocaine. They have always professed their innocence. \nInspired by the wildly popular Guardian Today in Focus podcast\, The Freshwater Five incorporates spectacular storytelling\, verbatim accounts\, inventive stagecraft\, poetry and song. The South Coast cast and creatives delve into subjects of classical & contemporary smuggling\, deteriorating coastal communities\, immigration and folklore as well as examining this ancient profession’s place in our times. \nA captivating story told through 5 emotive performances as well as humour and music\, which leaves you hooked. The show will resonate with coastal communities and those with a passion for true-crime podcasts. \nAge guidance: 12+ (strong language & drug references) \nRunning time: 65 mins\, no interval

SUMMARY:The Right to Protest: A Cumberland Lodge London Dialogue
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a conversation about our right to protest\, and its evolving role in shaping a better future. Protest is recognised not only as a human right\, but also as a powerful catalyst for change. Young people\, historically at the forefront of activism\, continue to engage in protests on issues such as the climate crisis\, social inequalities\, and international conflicts. \nHowever\, recent government legislation\, including the Policing Act 2022 and the Public Order Act 2023\, new forms of technology and surveillance\, and increasingly dispersed centres of power\, are changing how we think about dissent\, and what is possible to achieve. \nThe 2024 Cumberland Lodge London Dialogue will explore this evolving landscape of protest in the 21st century\, deciphering what these changes may mean for all of us. A panel of research\, student\, and activist voices\, chaired by The Rt Hon the Baroness Usha Prashar\, will debate the new dynamics of protest\, and the impact of new government legislation. \nOur speakers will include Dr Daniella Lock (University of Oxford) and Jodie Beck (Liberty)\, with further details to be announced. \n  \n14 May 2024 from 6:30-8:30pm at Goodenough College\, London \n  \nTickets: £10 (£5 concessions) including light refreshments \n  \nVisit cumberlandlodge.ac.uk/events to book

SUMMARY:Jazz in the House 2024: Clark Tracey Quintet
DESCRIPTION:Clark Tracey presents his new quintet\, providing a platform for our most outstanding young musicians. \n  \nClark Tracey\, a well-established jazz master\, recognised as a most inventive jazz drummer\, composer\, educator and bandleader\, having appeared over forty years in the company of some of the world’s jazz greats\, presents his new quintet\, providing a platform for our most outstanding young musicians.\nThe Quintet have recently released their debut CD\, “Introducing Emily Masser”\, on Clark’s label Stray Horn Records\, followed by a national tour in April and May of 20 dates\, with the band heading to Lauderdale House on the 16th. \nProgrammed by Blow the Fuse. \n  \nPerformers \nClark Tracey – Drums \nA Five-Time Winner of “Best Drummer” in the British Jazz Awards\, Clark Tracey has built a reputation since the early ‘80s as a talent spotter of future stars of the British jazz scene; Guy Barker\, Alex Ridout\, Daniel Casimir\, Zoe Rahman and Mark Armstrong\, to name just a few. Clark was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the 2019 Birthday Honours for services to music and the promotion of jazz. \nAlex Clarke – Saxophones \nAlex Clarke on alto and tenor saxophones is aged 23 and won the Rising Star in the British Jazz Awards in 2019 and was a finalist in the BBC Young Jazz Musician in 2020. SUMMARY:Nature is a Cyborg
DESCRIPTION:With Nature is a Cyborg Annie Trevorah presents a nature-led world in response to the human-centred narrative of the Anthropocene. \n  \nInspired by Donna Haraway’s provocative ecofeminist essay ‘A Cyborg Manifesto’\, Trevorah’s sculptures challenge prevailing concepts of identity\, gender and technology by imagining an alternative existence that transcends conventional categories. \n  \nTrevorah’s hybrid characters employ more-than-human healing powers\, ranging from photosynthesis to hermaphroditic reproduction\, as an isomorphic response to a world in crisis. Merging organic and synthetic materials with scent\, light\, and sound elements\, Nature is a Cyborg invites viewers to reconsider their relationship with the natural world.

SUMMARY:Tender - Phosphoros Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Tender. A word for youngSoft. Not fully madeToo young to leave our familiesBut we did.  \n\n\n\nA group of friends gather in class. Whispers spread that a student is missing. Messages are sent and stay unanswered.  A birthday card arrives. In a dusty market\, a girl weighs her mother’s gold jewellery to sell. \n\n\n\n‘Tender’ draws on the personal narratives of its company of refugee actors. With no safety net\, no right to work and debts to pay\, what does it mean to build a future?  When it’s a choice between going to college or earning money\, what gives? How much human potential is compromised by Britain’s ever-tightening hostile environment?  This new play from Phosphoros Theatre encapsulates the radical joy and skilful storytelling that sees the company resist dominant and reductive media headlines. Vibrant\, revealing\, curious and bold\, ‘Tender’ shines a light on one of the most pressing issues of our time.

After the first encounter with Braco at an event in Los Angeles the sadness suddenly disappeared. It happened without me doing anything myself. I just felt happy. My children and my sister also experienced wonderful improvements in their lives without being at the event with Braco. I just thought of them and asked for help.” \n  \nA Mystery of Modern Times \nBraco is a fascinating person with a special gift. His exeptional way of helping\, based on a gentle gaze\, has caught the attention of many people and often helped bring balance to life. \nThere are thousands who have been coming to events and congresses with Braco in the USA\, Australia\, Russia\, Japan\, Israel\, Mexico\, Colombia and most countries in Europe for almost 30 years to experience Braco and his gaze. Some medical doctors\, psychologists\, consciousness researchers look at Braco’s work with great esteem and respect and have written books about him. \nVisitors to the events speak of an energy\, a light\, a strong force that they perceive in and about themselves during gazing with Braco. A feeling of happiness\, a newly awakened joy of life and optimism are reported\, changes in life to the better happen and  many perceive with gratitude peace in their hearts again after years. \nBraco does not consider himself a healer and does not see his work as a substitute for medical therapies. He describes his work with the few words\, “Giving help.” \nEvent with Braco in London: \nThe College Of Psychic Studies\, 16 Queensberry Place\, London SW7 2EB \non MAY 18 and 19 \n5 sessions a day 10 am\, 11 am\, 12 pm\, 1pm and 2 pm \nTickets online www.braco-tv.me Click on „Events“ \nTickets also available at the event: £30 per session \nBook your ticket now!   \nwww.braco-tv.me   YouTube: Braco  official channel \n
