SUMMARY:Church Street Goes Wild
DESCRIPTION:Imagine if nature reclaimed the triangle on Church Street! Come and join local theatre makers and artists to create a world where Church Street goes wild across August. \nWe’re taking part in Westminster City Council’s Inside Out outdoor arts festival this summer. The festival showcases fun and unique cultural events across the city and best of all\, events are free for everybody to enjoy! \nFor the first three Sundays in August\, The Cockpit will be hosting creative making days outside in the triangle on Church Street. They are for everyone of any age to come together and build a temporary art installation\, using arts and crafts to make plants\, animals and fungi. Each Sunday it will grow and take up more of the space and then be cleared away at the end of the day. On the fourth Sunday\, this will culminate in a short physical theatre performance that will take place in the community made art installation on the triangle. \n  \nFor more details click HERE

SUMMARY:The Writing of Stones
DESCRIPTION:The Writing of Stones is an odyssey to the beginning and the end of human creativity. A cheeky\, dreamy\, brainy blast of high-energy physical theatre performed by humans and stones. \nWelcome to a hijacked meditation\, a psychedelic school trip\, a reverie on the reality-altering nature of attention\, the limits of language\, and humanity’s place in nature. \nInspired by the writings of Roger Caillois\, this show is a train ride into the depths of your subconscious. Expect otherworldly phantoms\, surrealism\, science\, illuminations\, aesthetic philosophy\, The Sistine Chapel\, your worst haircut\, an Impressionist lunch\, and lots and lots of stones. \nThe Writing of Stones is a physical theatre show about the consciousness of stones that asks if art will outlive humanity. \nOn a reckless romp through the history of art\, humans and stones search for a way of being between human and mineral\, subject and object\, movement and stillness\, sacred and profane. \nAnd\, in the end\, we ask: who really will have the last word? \nDirection: Emma Wagstaff and Dominic Weatherby.\nCreation and performance: Elmira Olberholzer\, John Harper\, Emma Wagstaff\, and Dominic Weatherby.\nOriginal devising company: Juliana de Aragão\, John Harper\, Emma Wagstaff\, and Dominic Weatherby. \n‘Mesmeric musings on memory and materiality\, optics and apocalypse.’\nAudience Member \nGet your tickets HERE

SUMMARY:Dünyada
DESCRIPTION:“I’m not from here.” \nA man arrives with a suitcase\, a camera\, and a voice that seems sad somehow. \nHe speaks of homeland\, parents\, lost loves\, strange customs… the narrative unravels into a mosaic of unfinished thoughts and philosophical detours; A microphone picks up his distorted speech; A camera captures his eyes\, lips\, old photos\, debris\, and you… too. Images appear behind him\, what it means to be seen? \nThis August\, internationally acclaimed actor and director Mehmet Ali Nuroğlu brings his visceral\, high-intensity solo performance Dünyada to Camden Fringe. Reimagining Will Eno’s celebrated monologue Title and Deed\, the production arrives in London fresh from Istanbul’s underground theatre scene\, offering an evocative exploration of migration\, identity drift\, and the fragile necessity of being witnessed in a digital age. \nDünyada\, meaning “in the world”\, is a formally adventurous solo theatre that tears the fabric of one-person play through cinematic camera work\, visual extension and sound design. Nuroğlu performs a dual role as both actor and live cinematographer\, walking the thin line between the mundane duties of keeping things going and the emotional disorder of remembering (like all of us). In a raw\, technical struggle\, he manages lighting and soundscapes in real-time\, creating a parallax between his physical body and his digital ghost. The production transforms the audience from mere spectators into active material\, as the camera turns to film the watchers\, projecting their silent presence into the heart of the monologue. \nIntimate\, funny\, unsettling\, and deeply\, deeply human. \nDünyada. A salute to the progress in life\, to being here\, now\, right now. On stage. \n  \nGet your tickets HERE

Stripping away theatrical polish\, the production refuses to conceal its mechanics. \nWhat emerges is a sonic and visual sculpture that confronts the ache of placelessness\, asking what it means to belong when one’s home feels imagined\, and what it means to be seen when your own name feels foreign in your mouth. \nIntimate\, funny\, unsettling\, and deeply\, deeply human. SUMMARY:Oh Pseudolus! - Cockpit Theatre
DESCRIPTION:This is a modern retelling of the classic Roman Comedy “Pseudolus” by Plautus. In this version\, we find the titular Pseudolus working at the world’s largest Halloumi company\, in modern-day Athens. She is an executive assistant for the CEO’s son\, Calidorous. Calidorous has finally gotten himself the girl of his dreams\, the beautiful Phoenecium. Still\, disaster strikes when the vile pimp Ballio tries to sell her into sex slavery\, attempting to ship her off to some unnamed oil-rich country. Calidorous is too heartbroken to sign Pseudolus’ end-of-year bonus check. It becomes up to her to figure out a way to rescue Phoenecium in order to make him smile. That way\, he can finally sign her hard-earned check. Talk about late-stage capitalism!  \nThis is a laugh-out-loud comedy\, full of hijinks\, tricks\, love\, lies\, and schemes; not to mention a slice of Halloumi or two along the way. It’s just as much of a hilarious romp as it was two thousand years ago! This is “Oh NO’s” way of saying: Leave the kids at home\, and no\, you don’t need to come wearing a toga. \n“Oh Pseudolus!” Features an all-star cast: \n\nCelebrated director (Hurt by Paradise)\, actress (Bunker\, This England)\, and poet (Tomorrow’s Woman) Greta Bellamacina leads as the titular Pseudolus. The show was written with her exclusively in mind\, and you see why when she hits the stage. She is a comedic tour de force who will have you doubled over for the entire show.\nActress Rebecca Hazlewood (The Good Place\, The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox) stars as Charinus\, the affable best friend of Calidorus\, bringing her signature energy and charisma to the role. Rebecca lights up the stage as only she can\, making Charinus every bit the lovable friend that Calidorus needs and the audience wants.\n\nAll of this mayhem can only come from the writer-director team (Conor Bifulco and Dalton Scott) behind “Oh Hillary!\,” the only comedy about the Clintons\, at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe. This is a hilarious story that remains just as funny today as it was 2000 years ago\, made even funnier with Conor’s modernizations. “Oh Pseudolus!” maintains the soul of the original play while still distinctly being an “Oh No Productions” joint\, highlighting their go-go-go comedic sensibilities. \nGet your tickets HERE

SUMMARY:JEFFREY ALEXANDER & THE HEAVY LIDDERS + CHRISTINA CARTER
DESCRIPTION:Upset The Rhythm presents… \nJEFFREY ALEXANDER & THE HEAVY LIDDERS\nCHRISTINA CARTER\nSaturday 8 August\nCafe OTO\, 18-22 Ashwin St\, London\, E8 3DL\n7.30pm | £12 | Tickets: https://link.dice.fm/yfbbe41cc761 \nJEFFREY ALEXANDER has been frittering around the edges of the psychedelic underground for decades\, evolving his own musical space that overlays dusty folk\, cosmic jazz\, deep psych\, free improv\, and even (gasp!) indie rock. He’s been called a “psych rock lifer” (UNCUT)\, crafting “digressive jams that meander through free-form jazz\, bluesy kosmische” (PROG) and “extremely highgrade psych” (MOJO). Convened in 2019 on Alexander’s relocation back to his native east coast\, Philadelphia’s Heavy Lidders are the latest hard-touring expression for the guitarist’s music\, joining a vast and tangled discography (and tape list) that includes the beloved long-running west coast Dire Wolves Just Exactly Perfect Sisters Band and\, before them\, the Iditarod and Black Forest/Black Sea\, as well as a bushel of solo play-all-the-instruments projects\, a stint with Jackie-O Motherfucker\, sessions with Kemialliset Ystävät and Avarus and others. \nhttps://jeffreyalexander.bandcamp.com/ \nCHRISTINA CARTER was born in the bayou city of Houston\, Texas in November of 1968\, and co-founded the group Charalambides there in December of 1991. Ever since she has deeply mined her own vein of sound-as-music with voice\, guitar\, harmonica\, and piano. For the past several years\, Christina has utilized extended improvisational guitar passages within and without song structures and investigated ‘the song’ as a thing unto itself\, specifically concentrating on ‘the word’- both in her own lyric writing and her interpretations of the work of other lyricists. In addition to performing extensively in the US\, UK and Europe as a solo artist\, Christina has played and recorded in various groups and duos with Jeffrey Alexander\, Maria Chavez\, Loren Connors\, Spencer Dobbs\, Sandy Ewen\, Julia Hungerford\, Alistair Lingren\, and Joe McPhee\, amongst others. \nhttps://christinacarter.bandcamp.com/ \nFor more info\, click HERE

SUMMARY:21 Days
DESCRIPTION:The year is 2030. \nAfter a painful break-up\, Jay hits the reset button on his life—but instead of healing\, he spirals into a cycle of rage\, isolation\, and alcohol dependency. In a world increasingly disconnected by technology\, his search for meaningful connection is overshadowed by his own self-destructive habits. \nEnter May: a strange and enigmatic new flatmate whose unexpected presence begins to challenge Jay’s worldview. As their uneasy cohabitation unfolds\, truths are confronted and emotions unravel. \n21 Days is a bold new work exploring how we cope with heartbreak\, addiction\, and emotional suppression in a world where we humans face the unpredictability of technology. SUMMARY:Fishwives
DESCRIPTION:Step right up for FISHWIVES—a riotous comedy cabaret that’s smutty\, feminist\, historical\, and dare we say\, hysterical. \nIf Chaucer had a potty-mouthed sister with a vendetta against the patriarchy\, this is the show she’d have made. Written in verse with the gleeful irreverence of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes\, Fishwives catapults the forgotten heroines of history onto centre stage—louder\, looser\, and far less ladylike than you remember. \nPenned and performed by seasoned comedy poet Abi Unwin-Smith (RCSSD)\, with a decade of live mischief under her belt\, this anarchic hour fuses poetry\, storytelling and movement with the high-energy chaos of vaudeville. Expect stripping suffragettes\, scandalous monarchs and the odd persecuted pudenda—no petticoat will be left unruffled. \nAfter a decade on the UK and Australian comedy and poetry circuits\, Fishwives now bursts forth as a full-throttle show: a bawdy mash-up of brains\, bosoms\, and belly laughs. In an age when women’s rights still hang precariously in the balance\, this show wields laughter as both weapon and salve. \nSo gird your loins\, ladies and gents. These lusty bawds have stories to tell—and it’s about bloody time we listened.

SUMMARY:Dance Again
DESCRIPTION:Dance Again follows Noa through one night at a music festival — a psychedelic celebration of love and unity that collapses into a massacre. \nThe play explores an unfolding terror attack from the perspective of a brain under the influence of mind-expanding drugs. Told through the distorted lens of LSD and guided by a live DJ who sculpts the atmosphere in real time\, the play oscillates between ecstatic peaks and traumatic episodes\, fracturing Noa’s reality until she can no longer tell trip from truth. All while confronting the vanishing of her partner\, her friends\, the very idea the dance floor represents. \nWhat follows is a reckoning with irreversible loss and the question of whether joy can ever be reclaimed. \nBased on real events\, Dance Again is a love letter to rave and festival culture\, and a confrontation with terror choosing it as battlefield — a memorial\, a rave\, and a refusal. \nHow can you dance again? \nGet your tickets HERE
