SUMMARY:Spatial Opera in the Dark CONFESSIONS
DESCRIPTION:Opera “Confessions” was inspired by an interest in spatial electronics\, in particular – the spatial acoustic sound and its impact upon the human imagination. Therefore\, the authors have decided to create a spatial opera in the dark\, focussing on the expansion of possibilities offered by the acoustic surroundings. The Christian idea of the seven deadly sins serves as the basis for the libretto. \nThe seven parts of the “Confessions” are concerned with the seven cardinal sins – lust\, gluttony\, greed\, sloth\, wrath\, envy\, pride. “Confessions” combines diverse ideas of creative experiments cherished by the authors for a long time: performance of music in the dark\, incorporation of other human senses (smell\, touch) along with alleged complete removal of the visual aspect. However\, in the opera\, the latter is in fact the most activated factor in the listener’s imagination – through abstract audio images and concrete pre-recorded sounds that produce strong imagery linked to feelings\, sensations or objects. \nIn 2016\, opera “Confessions” was awarded the Golden Stage Cross for the best music\, along with the Musical Nail of The Year award of the Lithuanian Composer’s Union. Turning a night at the cinema into a\nmemorable event\, Edible Cinema has been described by Vogue as  ‘gastronomic theatre’ and  ‘the ultimate marriage of film and food’ by Time Out.  \nThe experience promises to harness the power of taste\, smell and texture to enhance the cinematic experience. Each guest is supplied with a tray of numbered ‘mystery boxes’ \, containing a bite-sized tasting menu corresponding to scenes in the film\, and a carefully matched welcome drink. A signal indicates what should be opened and enjoyed\, when. \nExpect ‘a gastronomic whirlwind\, from the taste of that first breath of fresh sea air on the French Riviera to a mouthful of fluffy\, soft Prima Ballerina’s tutu and the rich\, smoky bitterness of a cigar stubbed out in fury’. Edible Cinema menus focus less on literal interpretations of food shown on screen\, and more on environment\, dialogue and the overall feeling.

Enjoy classic Dietrich and Piaf songs and some gypsy jazz and tango with a Cuban twist. The artists are well known on the Latin Jazz and Tango scene and have appeared in productions all over the UK\, in major European opera houses (Vienna State Opera\, Royal Opera House) and in the West End. Omar Puente is a regular star performer at Ronnie Scotts and Jazz Café as well as PizzaExpress Soho.

DESCRIPTION:The Lovekyn Consort celebrates Christmas by exploring the rich harmonies of Renaissance Spain and its feasts\, in devotional and secular songs and joyful dance music. Period instruments are used to underly the unique style of Spanish music resulting from its combination of Christian\, Muslim and Jewish cultures. \nThe feast of Christmas was marked in Renaissance Spain by large processions and long and elaborate pieces of choral music\, sometimes consisting of a single melodic line. rather than the carols and hymns of later periods. \nThe performance will resemble a celebration at court\, with sacred songs to highlight the season as well as the more popular songs of love\, rivalry and mischief common throughout the year. \nThe Lovekyn Consort play instruments of the type originally used for their music. \nMusicians: Patricia Hammond – Voice; William Summers – Flute\, Recorder; Stephen Carpenter – Vihuela\, Guitar \nDoors open at 19:00\, performance 19:30 – 21:30\, ship closes at 22:00. \nIt will be cold aboard the ship during the winter\, please dress warmly.
