DESCRIPTION:Join us for a magical fundraising concert with ten members of the internationally renowned South African Buskaid Ensemble – a performance of live classical music from Handel and Elgar to township Kwela music. \nThis is a poignant venue for Buskaid: Buskaid’s Founder\, Rosemary Nalden\, is the daughter of the late Charles Nalden CBE\, one of Coram’s most distinguished foundlings. The Buskaid musicians are themselves no strangers to hardship: like Coram\, Buskaid offers transformative opportunities for less advantaged young people. \nFor this musical celebration\, Rosemary has chosen music to link both charities\, including the Chaconne from Terpsichore by Handel\, Coram’s most famous benefactor\, and Elgar’s Sospiri\, honouring Rosemary’s father\, an accomplished harpist who loved the music of Edward Elgar. The concert will end with a rousing burst of township ‘Kwela’ music\, arranged by the Buskaid musicians themselves. \nTickets and Timings \nTickets can be booked on Eventbrite. \nAll tickets include a welcome drink\, and private access to the Foundling Museum‘s exhibition\, including the special exhibition display\, 300 Years of the ‘Rival Queens’: Handel’s 1726 Opera Season. \n6 pm: Access to the Foundling Museum for all guests. \n7 pm-9 pm: Concert with interval. \nAbout Buskaid \nThe Buskaid Music School was founded by Rosemary Nalden in 1997 in response to requests from the less privileged local community in Diepkloof Soweto. At its inception\, it comprised just 15 children; its current membership stands at 82. To meet this demand\, in 2002 Buskaid initiated a teacher-training course for all its students; all the musicians playing tonight are employed by Buskaid as highly-skilled string teachers. \nThe Buskaid Ensemble is world-renowned for its high-performance standards and its innate grasp of musical style\, and as a result\, has undertaken 28 international tours to Europe and the Americas. It is the only African orchestra to have performed at the BBC Proms. \nThe Ensemble has collaborated with many distinguished artists such as Sir John Eliot Gardiner\, Melvyn Tan\, Steven Isserlis and Karl Jenkins. Taught by experienced tutor Clare Grossman\, this class is suitable for the beginner and experienced artist alike. \nEach session starts with an inspirational quotation by a great philosopher\, artist or writer. The sessions feature one professional life model who will hold a variety of long and short poses. Sessions are structured by the tutor\, who is also happy to enable students to work independently too – the aim of these sessions is to build confidence and ability\, culminating in a wide variety of original drawing\, with students developing their own unique style and work. \nEach session (10.30 am & 2 pm) is 2 and half hours long. In the early 90’s\, indie labels Slumberland and Harriet Records expanded her reach with the release of two seven inch eps. Recently\, Brooklyn label Captured Tracks has reissued two complete albums on vinyl\, and she has begun to tour in the US and internationally for the first time. Upset The Rhythm released a recent split single between Smith and The Smashing Times last year too. Paste magazine called Linda Smith “a hidden treasure of America’s pop underground”\, while Jangle Pop Hub has written that “essentially this is the best bedroom pop you are ever likely to hear\, directly from an age that did not really know what to do with it”. For this rare UK show Linda will be joined by her live band. \nhttps://lindasmith2.bandcamp.com/ \nTRASH KIT are Ray Aggs (guitar\, vocals)\, Rachel Horwood (drums\, vocals) and Clémentine March (bass). Three deeply creative individuals who play in a multitude of other groups including Bas Jan and Sacred Paws\, not to mention their solo outings. Their songs\, once succinct\, patchwork post-punk numbers of an honest diary-like nature\, now tussle more with long-form songwriting\, expeditious polyphony and cascades of sung-spoke vocals. Although Trash Kit have their forebears in bands like Sleater Kinney\, The Ex and The Raincoats\, their sound is still very much their own take on facing forwards and relies as much on the naturalism of an internalised folk music as on their sincerity of vision. Since forming in 2009\, Trash Kit have released three albums for Upset The Rhythm and a selection of singles. Trash Kit’s approach to life as with music is one of openness\, inclusion and potential\, and their most recent album ‘Horizon’ has this in dutiful abundance. \nhttps://upsettherhythm.bandcamp.com/album/horizon \nSTUART MOXHAM requires little introduction. Few artists arrive as compellingly yet elusively as did Stuart Moxham upon the startling debut of Young Marble Giant’s sole studio album\, Colossal Youth (Rough Trade\, 1980). Initial excitement was thrust upon the young Alison Statton\, who sang songs written by Stuart with a couple of exceptions. The unaffected tone of her voice was in steep contrast to the typical goings-on in that still quite punk time\, but it was what she sang that fully sold it. Moxham’s lyrics were both intensely personal and woefully oblique. There seemed to be a sort of story in there. After those YMG days\, Moxham worked on a project called The G!st and released an album and several singles also on Rough Trade. Since the mid-80s Moxham has focused mainly on solo acoustic work\, releasing 17 albums to date\, including one by songwriting duo Moxham & Halliday. Stuart Moxham is a composer of the upper echelon of innate talent who combines avant-garde ideas with deceptively forthright personal lyrics\, solid hooks\, ambience and vaguely off-centre instrumentation which defies the casual marketplace as confoundingly as it ever did to the underground. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime performance of Baroque and Early Classical music by the combined forces of award-winning chamber group Ensemble Hesperi and the renowned South African Buskaid Soweto String Ensemble. \n\n\n\n\nFor this special collaborative project\, Hesperi and Buskaid present a joyful programme of familiar favourites and lesser-known gems for strings\, recorder and harpsichord\, building musical bridges across time\, borders and cultures. \nMusic to include: a string arrangement of Johann Sebastian Bach’s motet Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied; two sparkling movements from Georg Philipp Telemann’s suite in A minor for recorder and strings; a string symphony by the French composer and performer of African descent\, Joseph Bologne; a stunning trio sonata by George Fredrick Handel; and charming dances by British-African abolitionist and composer Ignatius Sancho. SUMMARY:Nature Morte: The Extermination of Ukraine
DESCRIPTION:Nature Morte: The Extermination of Ukraine is the result of extensive research by British artist Piers Secunda. \nApproaching the deliberate destruction of cultural history and national identity through the depiction of traditional Ukrainian dishes and their ingredients\, at first sight Nature Morte is an exhibition of still lifes. Based on photographs taken by Secunda during visits to Ukraine in 2024 and 2026\, the paintings were made with ink he produced from charcoal gathered in Kharviv\, the site of the first Ukrainian Government building destroyed by Russia’s invasion in 2022. \nArranged as pyramids to reflect the power structures behind the kidnapping and forced military training of Ukranian children\, and the hierarchies behind the targeted bombing and systematic looting of cultural artefacts\, the paintings act as portals to an archive of evidence. Reached via QR codes\, the names and faces of the perpetrators are presented alongside extensive supporting material. \nThe exhibition is complemented by a map of more than five thousand points of damage to cultural sites recorded across Ukraine\, and a 40-minute documentary by Secunda’s long-term collaborator David Miller. \n  \nFor more details\, click HERE

Moving away from the critical language often used to address contemporary art\, the workshop proposes different protocols for speaking about your practice to the world.  \nThrough a series of guided prompts\, improvisation\, and gentle exercises\, participants will work with revision\, association\, and a deliberate quality of randomness to develop ways of using their own voice. The focus is on speaking through the work rather than separating language from practice. \nThe workshop is hosted by IMT Gallery and led by artist and educator Elle Reynolds\, whose practice works through collaborative processes\, storytelling\, and material experimentation. \nFor makers\, artists\, writers\, anti-writers\, poets\, curators at any stage of their practice\, and anyone interested in finding alternative ways to speak about their work. An undercurrent of dreams and\nviolence undercuts Fagbreaks in a South Bermondsey trading estate.\nThree young men and one girl argue\, laugh and fight during a\nday where nothing happens and everything changes. \nDuring a dead summer’s day in the back of a South Bermondsey trading estate\, four co-workers banter\, fight and unpick their fears\, hopes and dreams. How did they arrive here? Can they escape? \nA new play exploring the dreams\, delusion\, despair and desires of four people bound together in one shift. \nFagbreak is for an adult audience and takes place in The Cockpit auditorium. \nThis is the first staged performance of Fagbreak\, which first had a rehearsed reading at BOLD THEATRE last October. Since then Fagbreak has been developed and reworked. \nFagbreak is the second production from RatGurl Theatre which was founded in 2026 to create in-house work centred around real stories with a flair for the extraordinary. Co-founders Purnima Rai and Ana João met at Identity Drama School in 2019.
