SUMMARY:Continuity - London Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Continuity\, by David Sear \nDirected by Rosina Piovani \nWhat happens when your life is abruptly changed by a tragic accident? \nOne that ruins that life completely? \nAnd if a chance came along to use a revolutionary new cure\, would you take it? \nDo you want to live forever? (Terms & conditions apply). \nIt is 2034\, and a group of billionaires control even more of the world than they do today. They believe they have discovered an invention which could change what it means to be human. They believe they have unlocked the secret of human continuity. And they need patient 7… \nCONTINUITY: A satirical and darkly comic tale about humanity’s yearning for immortality – and what happens when technology and vast wealth manipulate the very essence of what makes us human. In a world where the pace of change is unprecedented and our ability to adapt to that change is struggling to evolve\, Continuity asks the existential question: ‘What is the value of my continued existence? And\, more importantly\, can I get a better phone?’.

SUMMARY:Gothic Opera presents: Die Rheinnixen
DESCRIPTION:Unconventional opera company Gothic Opera returns to Battersea Arts Centre this Halloween\, this time with the UK staged premiere of Die Rheinnixen (The Nixies of the Rhine)\, an unjustly neglected\, Romantic work by Jacques Offenbach. \nDie Rheinnixen\, which is Offenbach’s first take on grand opera\, encompasses the growing nationalism of its time\, as well as the genre’s fascination with the supernatural. Gothic Opera is delighted to be staging this horror story for the first time in the UK. \nIn the capable hands of the award-winning international stage director Max Hoehn\, the evocative crumbling architecture of Battersea Arts Centre’s Grand Hall will be transformed into the time of the Weimar Republic\, a period of nationalism and unease. \nIn a bold production that will speak to our current times\, Gothic Opera will be joined by exciting conductor Hannah von Wiehler\, who has a very busy career across Europe. Leon Haxby\, the young composer whose previous work for the company was praised in Opera magazine for its “haunting magic” and “compassionate insight\,” has created a new chamber orchestration of the opera for seven instruments. A cast of talented singers will bring the characters and story to life. \nDie Rheinnixen performance details:\n30th October\, 7.30pm\n31st October\, 7.30pm\n1st November\, 7.30pm\n2nd November\, 5.00pm \nSung in German with English surtitles.

SUMMARY:Fishwives
DESCRIPTION:Step right up for FISHWIVES—a riotous comedy cabaret that’s smutty\, feminist\, historical\, and dare we say\, hysterical. \nIf Chaucer had a potty-mouthed sister with a vendetta against the patriarchy\, this is the show she’d have made. Written in verse with the gleeful irreverence of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes\, Fishwives catapults the forgotten heroines of history onto centre stage—louder\, looser\, and far less ladylike than you remember. \nPenned and performed by seasoned comedy poet Abi Unwin-Smith (RCSSD)\, with a decade of live mischief under her belt\, this anarchic hour fuses poetry\, storytelling and movement with the high-energy chaos of vaudeville. Expect stripping suffragettes\, scandalous monarchs and the odd persecuted pudenda—no petticoat will be left unruffled. \nAfter a decade on the UK and Australian comedy and poetry circuits\, Fishwives now bursts forth as a full-throttle show: a bawdy mash-up of brains\, bosoms\, and belly laughs. In an age when women’s rights still hang precariously in the balance\, this show wields laughter as both weapon and salve. \nSo gird your loins\, ladies and gents. These lusty bawds have stories to tell—and it’s about bloody time we listened.

SUMMARY:Tomorrow's Warriors presents ANKORA
DESCRIPTION:PART OF THE EFG LONDON JAZZ FESTIVAL \nDoors open 7pm\, music starts 8pm. \nAnkora is a London based eight-piece ensemble composed of Mali Sheard\, Keira Chakraborty\, Hannah Clifton\, Klara Devlin\, Miranda Radford\, Tami Adebanjo\, Kezia Abuoma and Holly Reinhardt. Meeting at the renowned music organisation Tomorrow’s Warriors\, these ambitious young musicians were selected to perform in the flagship development ensemble Tomorrow’s Warriors Frontline\, mentored by acclaimed drummer and composer\, Romarna Campbell. Ankora is the exciting new step that the ensemble is taking as they journey deeper into the London jazz scene. \nThe name ‘Ankora’ is derived from the Latin word for ‘anchor’ (ancora)\, a symbol of groundedness\, hope and a connection to roots\, a message that spreads through their repertoire of both originals and covers of powerful jazz tunes. The name links to an alternative meaning in Italian of ‘again’\, marking the momentum of their rebirth as they continue their musical and artistic journey. \nTheir influences include the legacies of Freddie Hubbard\, Herbie Hancock\, Joe Henderson and Wayne Shorter whilst branching out to the more contemporary mastery of Esperanza Spalding\, Geri Allen\, Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts and Kenny Kirkland. The ensemble takes inspiration from the spark and power of these jazz legends compositionally and stylistically. \nCollectively\, the members of ‘Ankora’ have already made their mark on the jazz scene through performances at a mix of festivals and venues including Love Supreme Jazz Festival\, We Out Here\, Dizzy’s Jazz Club (NYC)\, The Vortex\, Brick Lane Jazz Festival and The Jazz Café. Ready for more\, the unique\, powerful voice of this ensemble is excited to embrace the wonder and diversity of the jazz scene. \n*Lineup: Mali Sheard – Saxophone; Keira Chakraborty – Flute; Hannah Clifton – Trumpet; Klara Devlin – Trumpet; Miranda Radford – Drums; Tami Adebanjo – Guitar; Kezia Abuoma – Piano; Holly Reinhardt – Bass. * \nMore about Tomorrow’s Warriors \nFor over 30 years\, Tomorrow’s Warriors has played a vital role within its community and the wider music industry and has been credited with literally changing the face of UK jazz. Free access to Tomorrow’s Warriors artistic programme has proved crucial in nurturing the nascent talent and early careers of so many of the most exciting UK artists currently tearing up the international jazz scene including Mercury Prize 2023 recipients and BRIT Awards Best Group 2025 winners EZRA Collective\, Moses Boyd\, Nubya Garcia\, Shabaka Hutchings and Sons of Kemet\, ESKA\, Jason Yarde\, Denys Baptiste\, Robert Mitchell\, Soweto Kinch\, Shirley Tetteh\, Byron Wallen…the list goes on.\nTomorrow’s Warriors offers a pioneering\, free to access\, comprehensive programme of learning and training which champions and supports young Black and female talent and those who come from challenging circumstances that would be a barrier to accessing opportunities to pursue a music career. \n“Tomorrow’s Warriors occupies a unique and vital space in our cultural landscape. Their work in helping positively shape future generations is of critical importance especially with the tribulations we currently face. Please keep supporting – each one\, teach one!” Gilles Peterson \nKaramel – 4 Coburg Road\, London N22 6UJ. The Karamel vegan kitchen will be serving food until 9.30pm. Email karamel8775@gmail.com to book a table for groups of 3+. \nDoors open 7pm\, music starts at 8pm.

SUMMARY:Still Waters
DESCRIPTION:PART OF THE EFG LONDON JAZZ FESTIVAL \nDoors open 7pm\, music starts 8pm. \nHenry Lowther’s Still Waters was born out a long association and friendship\, going back forty years\, between Henry and bassist Dave Green. Henry Lowther was born in Leicester\, England\, in 1941. Over the last 60 years Henry’s work on the British jazz scene reads like a “Who’s Who”. He has played regularly with\, amongst many others\, Gordon Beck\, Michael Garrick\, Graham Collier\, Mike Gibbs\, Pete King\, Loose Tubes\, John Surman\, John Taylor\, Stan Tracey and Kenny Wheeler. \n*Lineup: Henry Lowther – Trumpet; Pete Hurt – Tenor Saxophone; Barry Green – Piano; Dave Green – Bass; Tim Giles – Drums. * \nKaramel – 4 Coburg Road\, London N22 6UJ.
