Her stunning debut\, Soon\, quickly became a beloved work within the experimental lo-fi community. Set for release this year\, the new record takes an unexpected cinematic turn\, weaving together classical and electronic influences. \nIn 2023-2024\, Hana toured with Jessica Pratt\, Mount Eerie and Julie Byrne as well as selling out London’s RAH Elgar Room\, and appearing at festivals such as Haldern Pop and Sound Of Bronkow Festivals. For this special show at Grand Junction Hana will be backed by her live band Woom too. Woom will also support! \nhttps://hanastretton.bandcamp.com/ \nWOOM is a three-piece vocal led band consisting of Alice Barlow\, Lara Laeverenz and Isobel Risk. Celebrated for their non-hierarchical collaborative structure\, the group creates harmony-led vocal music that blends experimental songwriting with exploratory production and immersive performance. \nTheir latest EP\, To Slow You (2025)\, received critical acclaim from The Guardian\, Crack Magazine\, Rolling Stone\, BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 3\, amongst others. The release marks a deepening of the group’s creative process\, with WOOM writing\, producing and shaping the project entirely in-house\, from songwriting\, production\, visual artwork and music video direction. Drawing from a wide range of genres and influences\, WOOM’s live performances are immersive and spellbinding\, offering audiences a sense of care\, solidarity and the power of collective harmony and storytelling. \nhttps://woom.bandcamp.com/

SUMMARY:Azovstal | Cockpit Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Music: Alla Sirenko\nLibretto & Words: Olha Shvets \nA Ukrainian composer responding to the powerful and urgent story of Azovstal. A presentation of the new opera Azovstal with some music highlights in a concert form\, followed by a talk with the composer and librettist and a Q&A session. \nJoin The Ukrainian Cultural Association in the UK on 18 September for highlights from Azovstal\, a powerful new opera by Ukrainian composer Alla Sirenko\, with a libretto by Olha Shvets. Depicting the harrowing events of the final battles of the defenders of Mariupol at the ruins of the industrial plant of Azovstal\, it shows the resilience and strength of its defenders\, but also a touching human side of its heroes with their love\, memories\, dreams and hopes for a peaceful future. \nMeanwhile\, one of the soldier’s mothers waits in her village\, sharing the worries\, hopes\, prayers and tears of all mothers in wartime. \nThe bravery of the soldiers defending Azovstal is inspirational\, not just to Ukrainians\, but to the whole world. Many of them are still in harsh prisons in deep Russia\, without hope of release. \nYou will have a chance to hear the creators’ stories about the writing of this opera\, with some music extracts from this opera\, followed by a Q&A  from the audience.

SUMMARY:Broken Ivy/Fence Off | Cockpit Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Broken Ivy\nMusic: Florence Lloyd\nLibretto: Vivian Bayliss \nFence Off\nMusic: Ruben Doda\nLibretto: Rebekah King \nBroken Ivy & Fence Off are a pair of chamber operas created by emerging composers from the Royal Academy of Music.\nThe evening brings two worlds onto one stage: a vivid\, fast-moving programme where different musical languages\, cultural perspectives and theatrical styles collide. \nIn “Broken Ivy”\, English folklore becomes ecological myth: nature is not the backdrop\, but the protagonist\, telling a story of human overreach and its natural nemesis. \nIn “Fence Off!”\, a fencing duel becomes an operatic battle of consciousness: two women trapped on opposite sides of perfection\, where every movement exposes vulnerabilities\, privilege\, and ambition. \nCome to the second show this evening for two more operas for an evening moving between folklore\, psychological drama\, political urgency\, and domestic comedy\, The Breaking Point offers opera with pace\, contrast\, and sharp theatrical images. It asks what happens when the forces around us — nature\, language\, competition\, media\, love — stop staying in the background and start to break the sense of what we are. \n  \nGet your tickets HERE

SUMMARY:Frankenstein | Cockpit Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Notated music and performance: CN Lester\nElectronic music and soundscapes: ILĀ\nLibretto\, direction\, spoken word performance: Jamie Hale \nThis 60 minute hybrid work strips Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein to its core question: is it right to create new life in a fractured and suffering world? \nCombining sung voice\, spoken voice\, and electronica\, Frankenstein’s Offie-Award-winning proof of concept opened to universal critical and audience praise at Barbican in November 2025. Now\, this full new interpretation of the classic text marries notated music and operatic vocals from CN Lester (‘Captivating\, hypnotic’ – Opera) with libretto\, direction and spoken word performance from Jamie Hale (Evening Standard Director / Theatremaker of the Year 2021 – ‘fantastic’ – Hannah Gadsby) and electronic musical soundscapes from ILĀ (‘a masterclass in sound design’ – Attitude). Shifting and distorting\, Frankenstein is neither opera\, nor sound installation\, nor straight theatrical performance\, but a hybrid expression of embodiment that puts trans and disabled voices at the heart of what it is to be monstered\, and what it is to be free. \n  \nGet your tickets HERE
