SUMMARY:Comedy for the Curious Online - Against the Audience Holiday Quiz
DESCRIPTION:Comedy for the Curious is a comedy panel show with a science twist. This unique comedy show has 3 very different stand-up sets (on the topic at hand) followed by a hysterical\, personal and often revealing chat then\, followed by our outrageously silly game. Don’t miss this unique format where curiosity and stand-up comedy are combined. \n\n\n\nDecember the 11th \n\n\n\nAgainst the Audience Holiday Quiz with host Robyn Perkins and guests Richard Wright and Sarah Iles

SUMMARY:Charles I and the Civil Wars: The World Turned Upside Down
DESCRIPTION:At 2 pm\, on Tuesday 30 January 1649\, King Charles I stepped onto a wooden scaffold outside Whitehall’s Banqueting House\, knelt in front of thousands of spectators and was publicly beheaded as a traitor. It was the brutal climax of years of civil war\, which had seen tens of thousands of people lose their lives and livelihoods as the kingdoms of England\, Wales\, Scotland and Ireland were plunged into chaos. \nIn this fascinating collaboration with the Museum of London Docklands and HistFest\, bestselling authors Jessie Childs and Leanda de Lisle\, and critically acclaimed playwright and history teacher Thabo Stuck will explore the complex events that led to the fateful moment of Charles’s execution. From the sweeping history of the civil wars and the human stories of debates\, battles and sieges to the mood within the royal court\, the character of Charles I himself\, the resilience of his wife Henrietta Maria\, and the decade-long republican rule that followed. \nIncluding music from Thabo Stuck’s critically acclaimed play\, #50Days\, a panel discussion and immersive re-enactment from the English Civil War Society\, discover the realities of a world turned upside down. There will be an opportunity to purchase the authors’ books at the end of the talk. \nThere are also digital tickets available to watch a livestream of the event. \n  \nAbout \nThabo Stuck is a history teacher from London and the creator and writer of #50Days. #50Days\, Thabo’s debut writing project\, is a Grime Musical that tells the story of the period that leads up to the outbreak of the 17th Century British Civil Wars. Using Grime music\, this show gives underrepresented Brits a voice in telling the story of one of the most integral but often misunderstood narratives of our nation. Described by The Independent as ‘a hurtling exploration of politics and revolution’. \nJessie Childs is an award-winning author\, historian and broadcaster. Her first book\, Henry VIII’s Last Victim\, won the Elizabeth Longford Prize for Historical Biography\, and her second\, God’s Traitors\, won the PEN Hessell-Tiltman Prize for History. Her third book\, The Siege of Loyalty House: A Civil War Story\, was published in May and hailed by Simon Schama as ‘almost Tolstoyan in its emotional intelligence and literary power’. Jessie reviews for many papers\, including the Sunday Times\, Guardian and London Review of Books\, and her TV contributions include the BAFTA-nominated Elizabeth I’s Secret Agents (BBC 2 & PBS) and two BBC series on Charles I. \nLeanda de Lisle is the author of the bestselling Tudor and Stuart history praised for meticulous research as well as strong narratives. She has a Masters degree in history from Oxford University. TUDOR\, her biography of the Tudor family 1437-1603\, was a top ten Sunday Times bestseller\, BBC History book of the year\, Daily Telegraph book of the year\, and History Today book of the year. THE SISTERS WHO WOULD BE QUEEN; THE TRAGEDY OF MARY\, KATHERINE AND LADY JANE GREY\, was a New York Times best seller and is the inspiration for Phillippa Gregory’s 2017 novel THE LAST TUDOR as well as Elizabeth Fremantle’s Sisters of Treason. WHITE KING\, a biography of the doomed Charles I\, was the winner of the 2018 Historical Writers Association non-fiction crown. Her latest\, on Henrietta Maria\, is a revisionist biography of a reviled queen and a Times and Sunday Times book of the year. \n  \nHistFest is an innovative history festival and events company\, which produces online and in-person events and courses for global audiences. \nThe English Civil War Society bring history to life through the authentic re-creation of 17th-century military and civil life\, stimulating interest in the turbulent period in British history when the country was torn apart by civil war. \n

SUMMARY:Cockney Conversations Month 2022: 3rd March – 4th April 2022
DESCRIPTION:The first Cockney Conversations Month* runs from Thursday 3rd March- Monday 4th April 2022 and kicks off with six online discussions on the significance of Cockney cultural heritage and how it adapted to physical\, social and cultural changes in the East End. \nWhat are Cockney Cultures?\nThe Cockney identity is under threat from bias\, prejudice and ignorance. However\, history shows how Cockney is an identity based on positive\, inclusive values. We celebrate what it means to be Cockney today\, for all creeds and races\, from its East End heartland and beyond\, through to the global Cockney diaspora. Cockney Cultures encourages greater self-belief\, confidence\, and pride in who Cockneys are\, what they stand for\, and how they can best work together to face their shared future. \nCockney Cultures is asking interested individuals\, cultural and community groups\, public bodies and venues to work with us through support\, resourcing and long-term collaboration. The idea grew out of a public debate held in March 2021 called ‘Can Cockney Be Saved?’ led by Andy Green from Grow Social Capital CIC. Since then\, Andy and Saif Osmani from the Bengali East End Heritage Society joined heads to kickstart the initiative to celebrate the culture of London’s working-class communities.\nCome along and join us in the debates and discussions! \nSo what’s in store for Cockney Conversations Month 2022? \nOnline discussions and debates (every 45 minutes): \n1) ‘Is Cockney dying?’\, Thursday 3rd March 2022 @ midnight (GMT): guest academic sociolinguists\, cultural commentators and questions from the audience. BOOKING LINK: https://iscockneydying.eventbrite.com \n2) ‘The Story of Cockney in 50 Objects’\, Thursday 10th March 2022 @ midnight (GMT): a Cockney ‘Room 101’ where visitors can recommend their top 50 cultural objects. BOOKING LINK: https://50cockneyobjects.eventbrite.com \n3) ‘Is Essex Cockney?’\, Thursday 17th March 2022 @ midnight (GMT): sharing academic sociolinguistic studies on Cockney diaspora. Is there such a thing as Cockney humour?’\, Thursday 31st March 2022 @ midnight (GMT)? BOOKING LINK: https://cockneyhumour.eventbrite.com \n6) ‘Cockneycide – Is there prejudice against regional accents?’\, Monday 4th April 2022 @ midnight (GMT): a panel of cultural commentators and open discussions. SUMMARY:Mr Motivator Steps into Christmas Jumper Day to set a New World Record - Virtual Workout

Then\, on Friday 10th December\, head to the Game Plan for a day full of festive fun – with Mr Motivator’s workout starting at 12 pm. \nSave the Children and Sweatcoin have crunched the numbers.
