SUMMARY:Attending Landscapes: Walking\, Listening and Mapping with Harri Harrison
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a four-session online course exploring how to see and sense landscape through walking\, listening and shared attention. \n‘Attending Landscapes: Walking\, Listening and Mapping’ invites you to develop a deeper relationship with the landscapes around you. Through walking\, sensory mapping\, drawing\, writing and observation\, we will explore acts of witnessing and encountering green environments\, asking how we come to know a place deeply\, understand its stories\, and what these stories might reveal about our own internal landscapes. \nAcross four fortnightly sessions\, you’ll be encouraged to return to a local green space\, building an ongoing relationship through creative prompts\, shared discussion and attentive practice. You will learn to time-travel with this land. \nLed by artist and educator Harri Harrison and hosted by IMT Gallery\, the course offers a reflective and practical space for artists\, writers\, educators\, walkers and anyone interested in developing a more attentive relationship with landscape.  \n🌿 Places are limited — the course begins 13 September. \nReady to see the landscapes around you differently? SUMMARY:Seven Dials walk: the 1920s and 1930s\, and the making of modern London
DESCRIPTION:Join historian Matt Houlbrook on a journey into a remarkable neighbourhood and the battle to define modern London. \nThroughout the 1920s and 1930s\, Seven Dials was one of London’s most diverse neighbourhoods\, home to migrant and working-class communities\, bohemian clubs and cafes. But business leaders and city planners had other ideas. \nBeginning with a rancorous libel trial of 1927\, in which a Sierra Leonean café owner and his wife confronted the racist newspaper that destroyed their business\, Matt’s tour of Seven Dials reveals the surprising history of this remarkable neighbourhood. He traces how tensions that simmered on the streets and finally exploded in court betrayed the politics of urban ‘improvement’ and the ‘colour bar’. Underlying the trial was a series of troubling questions that would define Britain in the twentieth century – about race\, class and the boundaries of belonging\, gentrification and the kind of city London would become. \nThe tour includes the site of long-forgotten cafes and queer nightclubs\, the tenements\, shops\, and workshops where the people of Seven Dials lived\, worked\, and played\, and modernist office blocks that were never built\, as well as St Giles Buildings (1925\, C Westcott Reeves and Alfred Rason) and the Cambridge Theatre (1930\, Wimperis\, Simpson\, and Guthrie). \nMatt Houlbrook is a writer\, historian\, and Professor of Cultural History at the University of Birmingham. He is the author of Songs of Seven Dials: An intimate history of 1920s and 1930s London (2026)\, Prince of Tricksters: The incredible true story of Netley Lucas\, gentleman crook (2016)\, and Queer London: Perils and pleasures in the sexual metropolis\, 1918-57 (2005). \nThe walking tour will last about 2 hours and will go ahead in any weather. \nNon-members: £25\nC20 Members: £20\nStudents: £15.00\nYoung C20: £12.50

SUMMARY:Gathering Wands: Walk and Carving Workshop with Harri Harrison
DESCRIPTION:Centred on Harri Harrison’s sculptural Wands series in the group exhibition The House at IMT Gallery\, this workshop invites a shared evening of wandering\, foraging and making. \nThe workshop begins with a twilight walk through Victoria Park\, led by multimedia artist Harri Harrison. Moving along desire paths\, the group will allow themselves to wander off the obvious routes\, gathering found natural materials along the way. These paths offer a subtle\, gentle form of resistance\, a space for slower attention and observation. \nReturning to IMT Gallery\, we will gather our foraged materials and create our own wands using a combination of carving and binding techniques. The session concludes with a guided meditation and meditative drawing exercise. Together we will explore what it means to hold found natural materials\, noticing how our focus shifts between objects\, ourselves\, and the connections they hold.  \nNo previous experience needed\, and natural materials and tools will be provided. Feel free to bring your preferred drawing materials and any found items you would like to work with\, such as stones\, sticks\, shells\, dried flowers\, wood\, or string for binding. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for walking\, as paths may be slightly muddy. If you have any questions or specific access needs\, please feel free to get in touch. \nAbout Harri Harrison: \nHarri Harrison is a multimedia artist whose practice integrates performance\, text-based projections\, plant-based work\, and alternative photography processes\, engaging directly with urban environments. Harri explores notions of place\, community\, grief\, gratitude\, and belonging\, inviting us to reconsider our relationship to nature and future communities.  \nHarri has over 13 years of experience leading creative workshops\, collaborating with institutions such as Cubitt Gallery\, PEER Gallery\, and Phytology at Bethnal Green Nature Reserve. \nGathering Wands is open to all — wanderers\, makers\, quiet explorers\, and anyone curious to slow down\, attend to the everyday\, hold attention\, and reflect through making.  \nSpaces are limited. Reserve your place for an evening of quiet attention.

SUMMARY:and we walk: A Silent Meditative Walk with Harri Harrison
DESCRIPTION:Connect deeply with urban surroundings through silence\, mantra\, and light projections on a gentle dusk walk along the Regent’s Canal. \nYou are warmly invited to join artist Harri Harrison for and we walk\, a silent\, meditative journey at twilight from IMT Gallery through Broadway Market\, towards Victoria Park. Experience the city anew\, guided by quiet reflection and illuminated mantras that transform everyday urban spaces into opportunities to witness and reflect upon personal journeys and the spaces we inhabit. \nAs we walk\, Harri’s personal mantras will softly illuminate local landmarks and ordinary city furnishings\, encouraging us to reconsider and reconnect with our shared urban environment. These ephemeral projections stem from Harri’s ongoing body of work\, repeat after me\, created using handheld text projectors and cyanotype prints. Harri’s toolbox of grounding mantras invite us to explore deeper connections with one another\, the natural world\, and our evolving concept of ‘home’. \nWe will begin our evening at IMT Gallery with a grounding meditation and herbal tea\, listening deeply to the heart of Bethnal Green\, before stepping out to witness the city through fresh eyes. SUMMARY:London Loo Tour
DESCRIPTION:It’s Not the Bog-Standard London Experience! \nPrepare to be immersed (metaphorically\, that is!) in a world where the humble toilet becomes a portal to explore history\, anthropology\, art\, architecture\, identity\, and of course\, our sense of humour. \nFrom the earliest latrines through to the future of flushing your guide will take you on a whirlwind tour through the history of Britain’s public toilets\, with plenty of interesting sights and practical tips along the way. You’ll answer all the questions you never knew you had… How did the Romans wipe their bottoms?  Was there really a man named Thomas Crapper? How long will you spend in the smallest room in a lifetime? And why do we even call it a loo? \nIt’s the perfect day out for anyone who likes to dive a bit deeper… lifelong Londoners and first time visitors alike! One thing is for sure: you may never think about a simple visit to the lavatory the same way again!

SUMMARY:The Pioneering Pensioners
DESCRIPTION:Mick Fowler and Victor Saunders are now officially pensioners\, with Saunders in his early 70s and Fowler in his late 60s. Despite being at a point in life when most people are hanging up their boots\, the pair are still as excited as ever for exploratory climbing. \nIn 2024\, the pair travelled to the Pakistani Karakoram where\, over seven days\, they made the first ascent of the spectacular Yawash Sar (6258m)\, a beautiful peak sometimes referred to as “the Matterhorn of the Khunjerab.” \nEven more impressively\, Fowler\, a cancer survivor\, made the climb (which included a night spent hanging from the side of the mountain in their harnesses) while wearing a colostomy bag. \nFor one night only\, they join us at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) to discuss their latest climb\, their enduring partnerhsip and their future plans (because they aren’t stopping yet!)

SUMMARY:The Fading Light London Ghost Walk
DESCRIPTION:Hello\, everyone. My name is Alan Aspinall\, and I want to introduce you to the ghosts and spirits that walk the streets of London at night. \nEngland is said to be the most haunted country on earth\, and indeed\, there are more ghost stories and strange tales\, mile for mile\, than any other place in the world. With such a rich and varied history\, this is no real surprise. Therefore\, it seems only fitting that it should also have the most haunted capital. On this ghost walk\, we will encounter everything from murderous queens to demon dogs and a few gentler souls. While this walk is primarily a ghost walk\, I will also point out a few places of historical interest. \nTickets can be booked through my Website\, http://www.fadinglightghostwalk.com

SUMMARY:Where's Wally? Fun Run
DESCRIPTION:Distance: 2.5k\, 5k\, 10k \nRegistration cost: £27 adults\, £15 children\, £78 family (early bird discount of 10% with code WALLY10) \nFundraising pledge: £50/person (over £100 entered into prize draw) \nThe Where’s Wally? Fun Run is a race like no other. Dress up as beloved fictional character Where’s Wally and see if you can be spotted amongst a sea of other Wallys running around Battersea Park. Fun for all the family (including furry friends!) and for serious runners looking for a not-so-serious race experience\, the Where’s Wally? Fun Run is a great way to support the vital work of the National Literacy Trust. \nWith the vital funds you raise\, we can empower children who are facing the biggest disadvantages in life\, with the literacy skills they need to help them shape their future. Over a quarter of children left primary school this year without being able to read well\, which can have a huge knock-on effect for the rest of their lives\, from success at school to even navigating every day life\, as well as impacting their confidence and self-esteem. But we believe that literacy is for everyone\, and there are no limits\, no lost causes\, no last chances. \nHelp us give these children the tools they need to change their story\, by getting your stripes and running shoes on and being a Wally for the day.

SUMMARY:Rendlesham
DESCRIPTION:A coach trip from London to Rendlesham Forest with audio commentary\, pub lunch and full guided tour of the mysterious 1980 UFO sightings. \n\n\n\n\nReturn trip on a luxury coach from London (pick-up and drop-off near Stratford Station)\n\n\n\nFull audio narrative of the Rendlesham Forest incident by the writers of The Thin Veil of London and Bluebird\n\n\n\nPub lunch\n\n\n\nGuided walk around Rendlesham Forest by Robert Kingham\, presenter of Pagan London\n\n\n\n\nThe truth may never be known about the incidents that took place in Rendlesham Forest in December 1980. They have since begun to drift into the mists of folklore\, and the mythological fog of war\, and have been described as ‘Britain’s Roswell’. \n\n\n\nBut something truly unusual did happen. A large number of United States Air Force personnel from the nearby twin bases at RAF Woodbridge and RAF Bentwaters witnessed phenomena that none of them have ever been able to explain. The official memo spoke of ‘unexplained lights’ – UFOs was too emotive a term – but\, as later emerged\, there was much more to it than that. \n\n\n\nEither\, around fifty military personnel in command of a nuclear-armed airbase suffered a series of hallucinations. Or: in those woods\, they saw something. \n\n\n\nWe have created an experience that takes you on a trip from London to the silent beauty of the Suffolk woods\, from the present day to the height of the Cold War\, from the everyday to the uncanny. Whether you want to believe\, or you are resolutely sceptical\, within the remarkable events we find a story of our own fears and compulsions.
