SUMMARY:The International Premiere of Zátopek + Q&A
DESCRIPTION:The riveting story of a Czech Olympic icon and one of the greatest runners of all time\, Emil Zátopek\, became a global byword for sportsmanship and generosity and was driven into obscurity by the Communists after standing up for ‘socialism with a human face’. \nAn inspiring portrayal of the Czech Olympic legend Emil Zátopek\, one of the greatest long-distance runners of all time\, who won five Olympic medals\, set eighteen world records and redefined the limits of human endurance. It´s autumn 1968\, and in the wake of the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia\, the Australian runner Ron Clarke visits the retired Zátopek\, his friend and role model\, to help him overcome a crisis in his sporting career. With Zátopek amid his own marital and personal problems\, they walk down memory lane recalling Zátopek’s athletic career from Zlín factory worker who had never taken part in a race to Olympic hero in Helsinki\, while mapping the inner journey of a single-minded man whose unprecedented athletic success made him part of Communist propaganda with devastating results. \n \nWonderfully portrayed by lead actors Václav Neužil and Martha Issová\, it is the relationship between Zátopek and his wife Dana\, champion javelin thrower\, which is at the heart of the story as past and present alternate\, emotions and adrenalin run high culminating in a breathtaking reenactment of Zátopek’s 1952 Olympic gold hat-trick in Helsinki. \nDavid Ondříček\, CZ / SK 2021\, 131´\, English subtitles \nAudience prize winner at the 2021 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival \nCzech entry in the best international film category at the 2022 Oscars \nPart of the 25th Made in Prague Festival (7 Oct – 10 Dec 2021) \n6.30 pm – doors open \n7 pm Zatopek (no commercials) \nSeats will be allocated on a first come\, first served basis.

SUMMARY:MSP Films "The Stomping Grounds" UK Movie Premiere
DESCRIPTION:Holmlands are proud to present the UK Premiere of Matchstick Productions latest ski movie\, “The Stomping Grounds”\, at the luxurious Mayfair Hotel in Central London on Thursday\, October 28th\, 2021. \nFor decades\, the pursuit of adventure\, deep powder and massive spines has taken professional skiers like Mark Abma and Michelle Parker to the far reaches of the globe. As skiers\, the desire to seek more and to escape is ingrained in our DNA. This action-packed feature explores the backyards and zones our pro skiers can frequent every day (sometimes with a little extra effort and ingenuity). From a “born-and-raised” resort in Idaho to the spectacular Lyngen Alps just outside their hometowns in northern Norway\, our skiers thrive in what’s familiar and find thrills in the unexpected. In the process\, they manage to re-discover what is “home.” And home delivers in spades. \n \nTHE STOMPING GROUNDS features veterans and newcomers alike from the ski movie world; Mark Abma\, Rory Bushfield\, McKenna Peterson\, Michelle Parker\, Karl Fostvedt\, Tom Wallisch\, Logan Pehota\, Sam Kuch\, Connery Lundin\, Lucas Wachs\, Banks Gilberti\, Cole Richardson\, Janelle Yip\, Tonje Kvivik\, Emil Childs\, Adrien Grabinksi\, Sam Cohen\, Jay Rawe\, Wing Tai Barrymore\, Colby Stevenson\, Hedvig Wessel\, Nikolai Schirmer with Taylor Pratt\, Lucy Sackbauer\, Collin Collins and Trevor Semmens. Shot On Location in Sun Valley\, ID | Tahoe\, CA\, | Snowbird\, UT | Park City\, UT | Nelson\, BC | Pemberton\, BC | Terrace\, BC | Northern Escape Heli Skiing | Tordrillos\, AK | Norway \nNot only do we have a great movie\, but we also have an exceptional musical performance from singer-songwriter Zac Pajak\, on stage before the screening where we’ll also be holding our famous prize draw\, with raffle tickets available to purchase at the door – and lots of take-home goodies to giveaway on the night. \nThe live music starts at 7 pm with the film beginning at 8pm. \nJoin us for this special event and get hyped for the new winter season in style! \nAll ticket purchases are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable.

SUMMARY:Guided Walks London - The Unburied Corner of London
DESCRIPTION:Guided Walks London – The Unburied Corner of London\nA guided walk to uncover the layers of history that lie beneath the Museum of London. \nThe Unburied Corner of London is Minimum Labyrinth’s second new guided walking tour for 2021. \nWhen the Museum of London moves to its new home in Smithfield\, the existing 1970s Museum building on London Wall will be redeveloped. In June 2021\, Contemporary Art Society\, on behalf of the Corporation of London\, commissioned Robert Kingham (presenter of Pagan London) to lead a new walk delving into its layers of history. The walk does not go into the Museum itself\, but rather around and under it: and the stories\, buildings\, archaeology\, and people whose lives it has touched are every bit as rich and effusive as the collections within. \nOn this two-and-a-half-hour walk\, you will encounter the lost alleys of Barnaby Rudge\, the Infirmary for the Relief of the Poor Afflicted with Diseases of the Rectum\, modernist dreamers\, the brimstone doctrine of the Aldersgate meeting houses. \nIncluded in the guided walk would be learning about the sieges of London\, the well-water that cures drunkenness\, the biggest fire between 1666 and 1940\, the hermit of Cripplegate\, and the oldest Jewish cemetery in England.

SUMMARY:Nature Walk: Chalk Streaming – Rivers Cray\, Darent and Thames
DESCRIPTION:This spring we invite you to walk the waterways of England\, navigating their gentle wildness alongside Sam Lee and special guest ecological pioneers.\nLeave your gadgets behind and spend a day chalk streaming together. \nLittle-known but quietly magnificent chalk streams are one of the UK’s natural wonders and ecological miracles. Despite all the environmental mistreatment they receive\, they continue to bubble up some of the finest waters in the land\, harbouring communities of life within and humans alongside. Their life-giving properties have shaped our nation\, inspired artists to create and conquerors to colonise. \nAs we walk we will take several moments en route to stop and explore the river together. We will share knowledge\, songs\, histories\, and return to the river the love that she has shown us humans over our millennia spent by her side. \nLittle-known but quietly magnificent chalk streams are one of the UK’s natural wonders and ecological miracles. SUMMARY:Art Deco in Baker Street Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:– A Study in Modern(e) Style and Elementary Elegance –From a block of flats boasting the largest rooftop garden in Europe to a towering head office offering passersby a guiding light\, ‘Art Deco in Baker Street’ explores how one of London’s most widely known streets has managed to strike an interesting balance between traditional and modern architecture. While following along the traces of bygone bazaars and lost cinemas\, the game is truly going to be afoot and visitors will not only be discovering how department stores and corporations have infused Jazz Age flair into their shop fittings and office facilities\, but also\, as if channeling the nefarious world of Sherlock Holmes himself\, be hearing tales about a mysterious ‘Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’-style case of double identity\, a bold and brash bank heist (semi) gone wrong as well as a delightfully unconventional school for women detectives.
