SUMMARY:Those Who Dream: Christian Reflections on Migration
DESCRIPTION:Theology is a subject on perspective of religious scriptures. Take a deeper look at Europe’s Migration in the Christian point of view. \nHere is the description of event from\, https://www.unionchapel.org.uk/event/27-10-2018-those-who-dream/  : \nClaude Moraes MEP – Labour MEP and Chair of the European Parliament’s Civil Liberties\, Justice and Home Affairs Committee\nDorottya Nagy – Professor of Missiology\, Protestant University of Amsterdam\nAlfredo Abad—President Evangelical Church of Spain and Secretary of the Comisión de Ayuda al Refugiado\nJerry Kramer – Vicar General of Zanzibar Heather Roy – Secretary General\, Eurodiaconia\nTsaurayi Mapfeka – Methodist Church of Zimbabwe\nSimon Jones – Director of Ministerial Training\, Spurgeon’s College\nDanny Sriskandarajah – General Secretary\, Civicus\nNadine Daniel – National Refugee Coordinator\, Church of England\nJenny Brown – Christian Aid Tatiana Garavito – Society of Friends \nA theological event which will: \nHonour Christian work for justice for refugees and migrants;\nRaise our eyes beyond crisis responses;\nSeek guidance in the sources of our faith; and\nAsk ourselves what we can do better\, what more we can do and what we should do next.\nIt will engage Christian activists and those with curious minds who are committed to justice for refugees and migrants. Focusing on European responsibilities and standing up for the rights of those excluded by unjust systems. \nChristians identify with the Jewish experience of exile and diaspora and the longing for home. This is both enriching and painful. God travels with the migrant spreading seeds of faith and hope in spite of challenges. God also travels with the Church in its journeying toward the Kingdom. \nOur contemporary world puts intense restrictions on those who dream of a better future for themselves and their families. Migration provokes hostility and the increasingly hostile environment is profoundly worrying for the Christian conscience. Dreamers are those who hope for a change of fortune and a home\, where they belong. \nThe day will: \nChallenge UK isolationism;\nDeep dive into biblical conceptions within the Hebrew and early church experience of migration;\nHear how theological reflection can move into political and social change;\nAllow participants to share action.\nChristian initiatives will be showcased and there will be encouragement to develop local action and national campaigning. The event will be creative and engaging\, fast moving and reflective. \nREGISTER to ensure a seat

SUMMARY:How to Profile a Serial Killer
DESCRIPTION:The twisted mind and motives of serial killers like Jack the Ripper is of enduring fascination to the general public as well as professional psychologists. Often they are driven by an escalating need to play out sadistic sexual fantasies\, in which the suffering of their victim is a central component. \nDespite fictional investigators like Cracker\, who bring uncanny intuition and artful interrogation to extract confessions\, the work of modern profilers uses cold science and previous research findings about types of killers and crime scenes to focus the search for the perpetrator. It is a logical approach\, with nothing mystic or “psychic” about it. \nDr. Glenn Wilson has experience in forensic psychology spanning many years and has been involved in many high profile cases\, such as helping to convict the Brighton Strangler and Fred West’s wife Rosemary\, and the acquittal of Colin Stagg (who was wrongly charged for the Wimbledon Common murder). \nDr. Wilson has also been a scientific advisor and expert commentator for several TV series\, such as Vic Reeves Investigates\, Jack the Ripper (ITV)\, Inside the Mind of a Serial Killer (Investigation Discovery) and Stalkers Who Kill (CBS Reality). \nDr Glenn Wilson is one of Britain’s best-known psychologists\, specialising in personality and sexual behaviour.\nFunzing Talks pull together an impressive array of leading entrepreneurs\, intellectuals\, bright thinkers and incredible individuals to inspire your evenings and expand your mind. \nDelve into a totally new subject and challenge your perspectives with like-minded\, equally curious people. It’s time to try something different – you never know where it may take you. \nExperience includes:\n\nFascinating lecture\nHigh profile speaker\nTrendy venue\nUnique after-work event\n\nTickets: Click Here if you Dare

SUMMARY:KOMRAUS & Guest Acts Live for Refugees
DESCRIPTION:KOMRAUS and S M M group organise this especial music event to raise funds for CEAR (the Spanish Commission Helping Refugees) and in particular for the LGBT refugees that suffer intorable situations.\n+ Guest Acts: Lili Caseley and Umbrela Arts Collective Djs \nFREE Entry- all donations to CEAR. \nKomraus will release on the 2nd of Nov their second single with M.A.R.S. Label Group\, titled ‘Untie the ropes’. This song empowers freedom and being yourself with no fear. So it will be the anchor song that marks the beginning of the collaboration between KOMRAUS and CEAR. Funds from the single\, merch and event will go directly to CEAR.\nAlbum to be released in Jan 2019 after a successful year of London headlines shows and International touring. \nMore info on:\nhttp://www.komraus.com \nHome \n \nGUEST ACTS:\nLili Caseley:\nHailing from North London\, Lili Caseley is a multi-talented singer and songwriter who’s winning the hearts of fans and critics alike with her meaningful soul pop about lovers and experiences\, past and present. Her songs\, deceptively simple in structure but teeming with emotional honesty\, are influenced by her Portuguese heritage\, legendary poets and the biggest pop talents of today.\nYet to release her debut EP\, she’s already won support from respected music titles like Clash and Notion\, while receiving coveted airplay from Radio 1xtra’s Toddla T on Target’s show and Radio 6’s Tom Robinson\, on his BBC Introducing mixtape show.\nhttp://www.lilicaseley.com \nUmbrela Collective Djs will also perform on the night. Artists from different cultures\, languages and backgrounds from around the world\, who aim to spread ideas of globalis\, open-mindness and all types of art.\nDjs: Crowse\, Go by Luck and Vladimir Kusijanovic. \nWWW.WEAREUMBRELA.COM \nMore details on the full line up soon. \nThis will be a FREE event and all donations will be directly passed to CEAR. The non-for profit organization that is doing a remarkable work for the last 40 years in Spain\, that has been welcoming refugees for over years. \nDoors will open at 7 pm. \nKOMRAUS organises the event ‘Untie the ropes’ helping to raise awareness and funds for the LGBT Refugees. 6th of Nov at The Victoria\, Dalston. In collaboration with MARS Label Group from The Netherlands\, CEAR (Spanish Commission Helping Refugees) and Jaguarshoes collective in London.\nUntie the ropes is also the title of the new KOMRAUS song and music video that will be out from the 2nd and 6th of Nov respectively. Untie the ropes is a song about personal growth\, freedom and self-respect. With this song KOMRAUS wants to remind us all that we are free to choose what we want to be. That’s the reason why they support with this song all the brave ones that are living complicated situations as refugees: the LGBT refugees.\nKOMRAUS is a band formed in London by European successful professional musicians that with their next single feel the urge to raise awareness about the refugees situation and in particular the LGBT refugees. KOMRAUS members were all somehow migrants themselves when they first arrived in London many years ago and now they feel again the uncertainty\, like many others\, of Brexit. Sara Rioja\, the singer and one of the composers of the band\, is originally Spanish; Spain is one the countries welcoming more refugees in the last 30 years\, so the band decided to start a collaboration with one of the biggest not for profit organizations in this subject: CEAR. Over 350\,000 people have been attended and helped by CEAR in the last 10 years. The non- for-profit organization has been working for 40 years in awareness\, education\, social integration and international human rights. ‘Untie the ropes’ and KOMRAUS will be a bridge to communicate in other territories the job that CEAR (the Spanish Commission helping refugee’s) does and in particular for the LGBT community. All funds from the single\, merch and concerts will be directed to CEAR.\nThe song was recorded Live in one take (as all the other songs in the upcoming album) at Andy Whitmore Studios in West London (Lemar\, Eternal\, Elton John). The band keeps the magic and communication of the live performance in this unique recording.\nThe empowering music-video of Untie the ropes will see the light on the 6th of November\, coinciding with the headline show that KOMRAUS organizes at The Victoria in London to raise funds for CEAR (Spanish Commission Helping refugees) and for the LGBT Refugees. The music video follows the aesthetic of previous KOMRAUS music videos\, always directed by the talented Pedro Caxade\, who has worked before for Channel 4\, Sky TV and in a film with the likes of Aidan Gillen. He has shaped the magical visual world of KOMRAUS in their brand image and music videos. The new video will be another sign of the well looked after artistic and musical work of the band.

SUMMARY:In Bed With Karen Dobres
DESCRIPTION:In Bed with… is our new series of speakers at The Chambers\, the brand new Cocktail Bar at The Chamberlain. \nThe Chambers is kicking off its first ‘In Bed With’ session with Karen Dobres – Writer and Non-Exec Director of Lewes Football Club – the first pro club in the world where women are paid the same as men. \nKaren has a unique voice on the Lewes FC Board\, as before encountering Lewes FC’s equality initiative\, she had no interest in football whatsoever\, but now she is extremely passionate about equality in football and its impact on driving gender equality on a wider scale\, giving regular talks at business and sports conferences in the UK. \nThe Chambers invites you to enjoy an exclusive evening\, filled with entertainment\, education and elegant cocktails\, as Karen explores how football is levelling the playing field and becoming an engine for social change\, enabling people to tackle gender equality. \nWithout game quality\, there’s no platform for equality\, so you could say\, achieving gender equality in football is a balancing act\, a bit like making cocktails… \nKaren Dobres \nSince the introduction of the Equality FC campaign in July 2017\, Lewes FC became the first (and only) club in the world to treat its women’s and men’s teams equally. Same budget. Same stadium. Same facilities. Same support. Same everything. \nLewes FC was recently featured on The Sun for pioneering the first equal gender pay in football\, and won a ‘HeForShe’ award from UN Women UK in September this year for being ‘Inspirational in the Field of Gender Equality’. Over the last two seasons\, crowd figures for Lewes FC’s women’s games have quadrupled\, demonstrating the positive impact of equality. \nKaren has also created the club’s SisterShips programme which is building a network of women’s organisations keen to support the club in solidarity with its equality stance\, whilst the club promotes the member organisations’ work in return. This summer\, Karen wrote an article for Huff Post UK about how England’s Lionesses should be women’s role models.

SUMMARY:Almagul Menlibayeva || Yerbossyn Meldibekov
DESCRIPTION:For their first project in the UK\, Aspan Gallery present a duo exhibition by two of Central Asia’s most prominent contemporary artists\, Almagul Menlibayeva and Yerbossyn Meldibekov.\nThe exhibition title\, Almagul Menlibayeva: It’s Easy to Be a Line / Yerbossyn Meldibekov: It’s Difficult to Be a Point\, comes from a phrase by an important Soviet avant-garde artist Sergey Kalmykov (1891-1967): “It’s difficult to be a point – it’s easy to be a line\, as everything in our world is moving”. Kalmykov moved in the 1930s from Moscow to Almaty\, where he was able to paint his imaginary parallel universes with fantastical creatures\, far removed from the Socialist Realist constraints imposed by the Soviet State. Kalmykov was an important historical figure\, and whilst under recognised\, the fact of his existence itself had a tremendous impact on the development of the contemporary art scene in Central Asia. \nReserve en

SUMMARY:Group Exhibition: Mother Art Prize 2020
DESCRIPTION:A group show featuring twenty short-listed artists of the Mother Art Prize 2020\, the only international prize for self-identifying women and non-binary visual artists with caring responsibilities.\nParticipating Artists:\nCassie Arnold \nHelen Benigson \nViolet Costello \nEmmeline de Mooij \nChristine De Vuono \nSabba Elahi \nMichelle Hartney \nMadison Hendry \nSadie Hennessy \nKatherine Lovett \nLauren Pisano \nEileen Reynolds \nLouise Richardson \nCarly Schmitt \nHolly Stevenson \nMarta Stysiak \nKim Walker \nEmma Wilson \nCoral Woodbury \nProcreate Project presents a group exhibition featuring 19 short-listed artists of the Mother Art Prize 2020\, the only international prize for self-identifying women and non-binary visual artists with caring responsibilities. \nThis platform aims to promote and support women artists who are mothers\, as well as drive the attention of the wider public to a broad-spectrum of themes that would otherwise be overlooked and devalued\, embracing the risk necessary to achieve a sea change in the perception and normalization of women’s artistic output as part of the cultural landscape. \nEstablished and curated by Procreate Project\, this prize’s edition puts together the most exciting leaders and organisations working to tackle the gender bias and intersectional issues in the art scene. \nFeaturing artists that work across a range of media\, the works were selected among 626 entries from 45 countries and judged by Niamh Coghlan (Director\, Richard Saltoun Gallery)\, Pauline Desouza (Director\, Diversity Art Forum)\, Elvira Dyangani Tse (Director\, The Showroom)\, Eva Langret (Artistic Director\, Frieze London)\, Claire Mander (Chair of Steering Committee UK Friends\, National Museum of Women in the Arts and Director\, the CoLAB) and Frances Morris (Director\, Tate Modern). \nThe winner of this year’s edition\, announced in May 2020\, is Helen Benigson. She will have an upcoming solo show in partnership with The Showroom as part of her award. Helen is followed by Violet Costello\, recipient of the Online Award\, with an online Solo Exhibition with Richard Saltoun Gallery\, and Eileen Reynold recipient of the International Award with an upcoming residency with Procreate Project and art material sponsored by Colart. \nTheir works raise questions around the representation and construction of the body\, religious identities\, sexualities and gender\, as well as reproductive technologies. \n“Procreate Project is a vitally important space that supports and champions artists who are carers\, (m)others or parents. Procreate Project understands the elastic fragility of what it means to make and show artwork\, at the same time as having competing caring responsibilities. At this very surreal and anxious time that we are all living through\, spaces like this are extremely rare and extra special\, so I am very grateful to Procreate Project and the Mother Art Prize for existing and supporting our work.” – Helen Benigson\, Mother Art Prize 2020 Winner \nThe exhibition is co-curated by Paola Lucente (director\, Procreate Project) and Claire Mander (Chair of Steering Committee UK Friends\, National Museum of Women in the Arts and Director\, the CoLAB).
