DESCRIPTION:The Run Series 2018\, is aimed to help those with learning disabilities. Choose between 5km or 10km distance routes around the Royal Park in London. \nGive a chance with learning disabilities to live a life they choose\, as the entry fee gives towards the cause. \nIf you have a disability your supporter can run with you for free\, and there are wheelchair places available too. \nThe 1 km runs is dedicated to young kids that they can run with their families. \nBeing part of #TeamMencap\, you’ll receive: \n\ntop-notch fundraising support\nregular updates about the run and Mencap\ntraining guidance for all levels\na bright Mencap t-shirt to run in and keep as a souvenir\na baggage zone to store your belongings\nchip timing so you can see how well you’ve done\nfull route signage and marshalling\nmedical support throughout the event\nbig cheers to encourage you on race day\nwater stations\na glossy medal to add to your collection\na photographer to capture all the fun!\n\nRegistration starts  From 8.30am (for runners signing up on the day or collecting running numbers/timing chips). SUMMARY:BAFTA Scotland St Andrew's Day Celebration: In Conversation with David Mackenzie
DESCRIPTION:We’re delighted to welcome multiple award winner David Mackenzie to this special St Andrew’s Day event in London.\nBAFTA Scotland winning director David Mackenzie best known for Hell or High Water and this year’s Outlaw King will share his successes and experiences of filmmaking with broadcaster Edith Bowman. \nDavid Mackenzie is an acclaimed Scottish writer\, producer and director. He is a co-founder of Sigma Films along with his producing partner\, Gillian Berrie. \nMackenzie’s historical epic Outlaw King\, starring Chris Pine\, Aaron Taylor-Johnson\, Florence Pugh and Billy Howle\, will be released on November 9\, 2018 by Netflix. In 2016\, Hell or High Water – a contemporary Western starring Chris Pine\, Ben Foster and Jeff Bridges – premiered in Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival. The film\, distributed by CBS Films\, was a box office and critical hit. It was nominated for four Academy Awards in 2017 including Best Film. \nStarred Up\, with Jack O’Connell and Ben Mendelsohn\, was released in 2014 and garnered multiple BAFTA Scotland Awards and eight BIFA nominations including a win for Ben Mendelsohn in the Best Supporting Actor category. \nAfter graduating film school at the University of Westminster\, Mackenzie wrote and directed an adaptation of Alexander Trocchi’s cult novel\, Young Adam starring Ewan McGregor and Tilda Swinton. Premiering in the Un Certain Regard section of Cannes 2003 and playing at Telluride the same year\, the film went on to win four BAFTA Scotland awards including\, Best Picture\, Best Director\, Best Actor and Best Actress. The film also earned four BIFA nominations including Best Picture and Best Director and several European Film Academy nominations. \nThis event is a fundraising evening for BAFTA Scotland’s educational activities in Scotland. \nStudent discount available. DESCRIPTION:The Great Christmas Pudding Race is a unique event held in the centre of Covent Garden Market and now is back for its 38th year. Teams battle it out against each other to win the acclaimed ‘Christmas Pudding Trophy’ and raise money for Cancer Research UK. Each team has to negotiate a challenging relay race encountering demanding obstacles all whilst wearing fancy dress AND carefully balancing a Christmas pudding on a tray! – (Not an easy task….!) \nHow it Works \n\nGather a Team of 6\, enter the race through the website.\nYou will receive your Pudding Pack giving full details of the Race\, together with a link to Just Giving site so you can set up your team page and start fund raising.\nYour team will take part in a relay obstacle Race. Obstacles include inflatables\, a crazy foam slalom\, decorating a Christmas Tree\, completing a jigsaw and many other challenges.\n Each team has to raise a minimum of £600 to help support the vital work of Cancer Research UK. FUNDRAISING TIPS\nEach team is asked to come in fancy dress. The winner of the fancies dressed team will be announced after the race\n\nENTER RACE\n** ‘Early Pud’ Registration Discount of £60 per team\nif you register your team before Midnight on Sunday 28th October 2018 ** \n  \n \nBetween the races teams will enjoy festive entertainment\, including a Zumba warm up to get everyone ready to race! It’s a brilliant festive event which helps to raise money for a great charity.

DESCRIPTION:Glass Door Homeless Charity is holding both a physical and virtual Sleep Out on 2 October this year to raise vital funds for individuals facing homelessness. \nThe event is due to take place at the Duke of York Square in Chelsea for the eighth year running\, if government guidance allows. Extra safety measures will allow participants to take part in this post-lockdown outdoor event\, which raised over £200\,000 last year to support people out of homelessness. \nGlass Door is also encouraging people to take part remotely in a location of their choosing\, whether that be a balcony\, a garden or the floor of their living room. \nFor the first time this year\, Glass Door will be bringing all participants together via a live stream of special guests and features throughout the night. DESCRIPTION:Abseiling Events in London\nAbseil down one of London’s tallest skyscrapers with spectacular views over the capital. \nThen\, take on the ‘Cheesegrater’ with friends and colleagues and raise money to support people with cancer. \nA team of experts will be on hand to ‘show you the ropes\, and the abseil is open to everyone; no previous experience is necessary.\nPlaces are limited so register now to secure your pace and get a free Maggie’s T-shirt. \nWe ask all participants to raise £1000 per person to support people with cancer and their loved ones at Maggie’s. £900 means we have online cancer support available 24 hours a day\, 7 days a week by our centre professionals. \n

DESCRIPTION:What is the London Night Hike?\n  \nHead out after dark and see London as you’ve never seen it before\, passing iconic landmarks\, all whilst shining a light to help people with cancer. Hike 10 or 20 miles at night in the heart of London. You’ll visit two of our centres along the way and face the ultimate nighttime challenge to support people with cancer\, their family and friends. \n  \n \nJoin Team Maggie’s\nDecide which distance you’d like to do and register for the night walk\nThe walk is perfect for all experience levels\nYou bring comfortable shoes and we’ll provide you with a free Maggie’s t-shirt. \n \n\nRoute 1: 10 mile route\, one way – starting at Maggie’s West London you’ll walk 10 miles east along the Thames to Maggie’s Barts\, passing iconic landmarks such St Paul’s Cathedral\nRoute 2: 20 mile route\, there and back again – after reaching Barts centre\, you’ll head back West\, this time through the heart of Soho and Kensington\, passing Covent Garden and the Albert Hall\, before finishing back at Maggie’s West London\nThere will be break stops at approx. mile 5\, 10 and 15 and breakfast on your arrival at our West London centre if completing the 20 mile route.\n\nWhere does your money go? \nThe money you raise is really important to allow us to continue supporting people with cancer. \nYour £150 sponsorship pays for one day of benefits advice to support people to claim the grants and benefits they are entitled to. \nYour £225 sponsorship provides cancer support sessions for up to 20 people to help people understand their diagnosis\, treatment and life with cancer. \nStuck for fundraising ideas?
