SUMMARY:Turning Earth Haringey Christmas Ceramics Market
DESCRIPTION:Christmas Ceramics Market\nOn 18/19 December we will hold the inaugural Christmas Ceramics Market at the new Turning Earth ceramics centre in Haringey. The new studio will bring the Turning Earth model established in Hoxton and Leyton to North London for the very first time\, offering a gym-like monthly membership arrangement for people who want to take up ceramics as a serious hobby\, as well as introductory classes for beginners.\nDuring the celebratory Christmas market weekend\, 70 ceramicists from Turning Earth’s studios will sell their work\, and there will be wheel-throwing and hand-building demos throughout – with the option for visitors to have a go too.\nMakers will share their reflections on how the disruption of the pandemic has impacted their work and celebrate some of the positive things it has brought with it. The new Turning Earth centre was itself created in a rising tide of craft participation and in response to the increasing desire for people to live and stay local and invest in the communities on their doorsteps.\nA stall selling donated work will raise money for local charities. There’ll also be delicious Vietnamese Street food from Hanoi Ca Phe\, mulled wine and mince pies\, klezmer from The Turbans and carols from Davey Green.\nCome and buy last-minute Christmas presents\, and prepare to be inspired – who knows\, you may want to come back and get your hands in clay yourself.

SUMMARY:Turning Earth - Ceramics Market in Leyton
DESCRIPTION:The much-loved Winter Ceramics Market will return to Turning Earth’s Leyton studio on Saturday 4th and 5th December 2021. More than 70 ceramicists will sell their work directly from the studio\, and there will be wheel-throwing and hand-building demos throughout the weekend – with the option for visitors to have a go too. \nA charity stall selling donated work will again raise money for charity Help Refugees. There’ll also be delicious Vietnamese Street food from Hanoi Ca Phe\, mulled wine and mince pies\, as well as live klezmer from members of the much-loved festival band The Turbans\, and folk music from Davey Green. Alongside the market\, a host of neighbouring artists\, photographers\, furniture makers and designers on the Argall Avenue industrial estate will open their doors so you can explore their studios. \nOne of the gifts of the pandemic has been in showing people what they most value\, which became strikingly apparent when so much of life was restricted. People tried crafts in more significant numbers than ever before during the lockdowns\, but the move online deprived everyone of the tactile experience of buying work directly from the maker. In what promises to be an inspiring reunion of makers and ceramics lovers\, you can expect to see pieces made with kitchen implements when our makers couldn’t leave their homes\, among the many creative ideas refined in lockdown. Like so many independent artisans\, ceramicists have suffered badly because so many outlets for their work have been closed over the past two years – buying independent at Christmas shoppers can help keep the craft alive.

SUMMARY:Carnaby Announces Christmas Installation 2021: Carnaby Kaleidoscope
DESCRIPTION:Carnaby is world-famous for its iconic Christmas installations and is pleased to announce the theme for 2021; Carnaby Kaleidoscope. Visitors will be immersed into a kaleidoscope of shimmering neon butterflies that will be illuminated on Thursday 4th November with an experiential shopping party. Over 600 sparkling 3D and 2D butterflies will flutter down Carnaby Street\, Foubert’s Place and Newburgh Street. In addition\, the Carnaby arch will shine bright in pink shimmer disks with brightly coloured 3D butterflies perched above. \nThe unprecedented Christmas installation will highlight butterflies’ powerful metaphoric representations of life exemplifying spiritual rebirth\, transformation\, change\, hope and life. By definition\, the meaning of Kaleidoscope is not only a term for a group of butterflies but also a constantly changing pattern or sequence of elements. \nOver 100 shops\, bars and restaurants will come together on 4th November from 12-8 pm for a shopping party to offer exclusive 20% discounts along with in-store events\, free drinks\, goodie bags and more. Visitors can enjoy live music on Ganton Street from Sister Suzie and salsa band Conjunto Sabroso amongst others. Activations include Christmas wreath making\, glitter makeovers and more. Please see http://www.carnaby.co.uk/christmas for more information. \nThe installation collaborates with charity partner Choose Love to highlight and support the urgent need to raise funds for refugees worldwide\, with an additional fundraising stream for Afghan refugees. Choose Love will pop up at 3 Carnaby Street\, selling a fantastic lineup of limited edition products\, with a constant stream of celebrity guests popping up to serve customers. \nSimon Quayle\, Shaftesbury Director\, says: “We are proud to welcome back Choose Love as our charity partner this year and help highlight all the fantastic work that they do\, and with their pop-up experience returning everyone has a chance to get involved in supporting this wonderful charity. This year’s butterfly theme represents a time of change and emergence\, something we’ve all gone through during recent times\, and we look forward to welcoming visitors to Carnaby to experience this beautiful and unique installation.” \nJosie Naughton\, Choose Love founder says: “We are deeply honoured to be supported by our wonderful friends at Shaftesbury again this year through both the incredible light installation and a shop space where we will be popping up for November and December on the iconic Carnaby Street. Dropping into the Choose Love shop and buying essential supplies for refugees has truly become a holiday season tradition for so many Londoners\, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone once again this winter.” \nDawn O’Porter\, Choose Love\, ambassador\, says: “I’m so excited that Choose Love are popping up in Carnaby again this winter\, and I can’t wait to head down and do some more volunteering. And\, of course\, it will be beyond magical to see the beautiful Choose Love inspired Christmas light installation on Carnaby Street.”

SAMPLE is one of Greenwich Peninsula’s most loved seasonal events\, and merging long-time regular traders with our new hot-bed of tenants from within the Design District is an occasion to be celebrated – one not to be missed.”\nKerri Sibson\, Director\, Greenwich Peninsula \nEasily accessible by River Bus to North Greenwich Pier\, or the Jubilee line to North Greenwich\, SAMPLE is the perfect way to celebrate our newfound freedom and support our small businesses\, all showcased in a brilliantly designed outside location. \nSAMPLE is curated by Hemingway Design for Greenwich Peninsula. Wayne & Gerardine Hemingway started their careers in the fashion industry by reselling fashion on an unassuming Camden market stall which ultimately led them to launch their infamous fashion brand\, Red or Dead. \n“When we launched SAMPLE back in 2017\, we wanted to provide a unique and engaging line-up of design-led independent businesses to Greenwich Peninsula. The focus has always been on supporting independent creatives and providing them with an outlet and audience. Now with the launch of the Design District\, providing SAMPLE with its newly expanded home\, we can’t wait to curate this year’s SAMPLE Autumn\, which is penned to be our biggest and best yet; with a new food offering hosted by Design District Canteen\, more space to socialise with friends and\, of course\, a stellar line up of new and independent brands to explore.”\nWayne Hemingway\, Partner\, HemingwayDesign \n#SAMPLEAutumn

DESCRIPTION:Wanstead Vintage are delighted to announce that we will be holding our Christmas fair on Saturday 19th December. A perfect seasonal celebration as we mark our 10th Anniversary ! \nThe Fairs are now under new management and are run by Karen Stuckey\, an event organiser and vintage trader. \nWe are really fortunate to be able to hold these Fairs in Wanstead United Reformed Church\, a beautiful Grade II listed\, recently refurbished building\, which is incredibly light and airy with the sun streaming through the huge colourful stained glass windows. White walls and blonde wooden floors\, which were renovated this year\,  balance the decor and provide a serene and calm atmosphere. A pleasure to both sell and shop in !  \nAny fair is only as good as its sellers and Wanstead Vintage consistently has the best around. The Church has two large halls which are both filled with a wonderful array of stallholders\, some of whom have been regulars at this event and been with us since we began. You could say they were part of the family. \nThey will be selling\, as they always do\, a huge variety of genuine vintage items:- homewares\, furniture\, jewellery\, handbags\, posters\, silver\, fashion\, textiles\, haberdashery\, vinyl\, books. ‘Yule’ bound to be able to pick up some last minute gifts. There’s something here for absolutely everyone at this special time of year ! \nThere’ll be vintage mirrors in all shapes as sizes to adorn any room in the house. French ‘accoutrements’ to add that ‘je ne sais quoi’ to your surroundings. Handbags to complete any outfit. Haberdashery to restyle your treasured favourites and textiles to grace and furnish. Added to that silverware and home furnishings to amaze\, accentuate and flatter your lifestyle\, and fashion and jewellery to turn heads. The list is endless … You really will find everything you need for your home and wardrobe. \nIn these unprecedented times we will of course have measures in place to keep everybody safe and we will adhere to the latest governmental advice regarding safe distancing. \nWanstead Vintage takes place three times a year and on the run up to December 19th we will be sharing tasters of the kind of items we’ll be featuring at the Fair on Facebook\, Instagram and Twitter.   \nEntry: £2.50 / £1.50 concessions (accompanied children under 14 free)\nEarly bird entry for first dibs at 9.30 am £4.00   \nTube: Wanstead or Snaresbrook on Central Line \nhttp://www.wansteadvintage.com\nkaren@wansteadvintage.com\nTwitter & Instagram @wansteadvintage\nFacebook @WansteadVintage
