Designed with you\, not for you. Not just bricks and mortar\, but also the values and the rules. \nFind out in We Will Be Happy Here\, our new multi-sensory experience that opens for learning disabled adults\, both in-person and online\, in August 2021. \nWe’re creating it with our friends from Bangladeshi Parents and Carers Association in Bethnal Green. \nSee below for information on how to book to visit between August 16 and 20. \n\n \n  \n\nThe Experience  \nWe Will Be Happy Here is a multi-sensory project of music\, sights\, sounds and tactile stimuli made with and for learning disabled people. It can be experienced online or in-person by one social bubble time at a time. \nIn workshops\, we’ll explore with you what you think makes somewhere a good place to live and can be enjoyed by all its residents. \nWe’ll then take you on an hour-long journey through the place that you have helped shape. Then\, with our “tour guides” to help\, you get to create your own version of HERE and share it with other people who will come after and pass on their ideas. \nHERE isn’t stuck in tradition. \nHERE is constantly reinventing and finding new solutions and new possibilities. \nHERE is where you can be yourself\, real or imaginary\, present\, future\, past. \nWho knows where you could end up? \n\nHow to book \nExplore We Will Be Happy Here is one of a limited number of slots in August. \nCall or text the booking line 07598 142 058 or fill in this booking form. \nMonday 16 August–2.30pm\nTuesday 17 to Thursday 19 August – 11 am &; 2.30 pm\nFriday 20 August–11am \nThe installation can be experienced online or in person at Kedleston Walk Community Centre (see map). \nEach slot is for one learning disabled adult and family or carers. SUMMARY:Relationship workshops with Family Constellations – “Chance for Love”
DESCRIPTION:Relationship Workshops\nMeeting for a Season\, Reason or Life Systemic Constellations with Alex Piotrowska\nA workshop about relationships and everything that happens in them.\nPersonal relationships are one of the most important areas of our lives. This is a workshop about trust\, alignment\, rejection\, abandonment\, betrayal\, family conscience. It is a workshop about men and women\, about lovers\, disrespected partners\, about love\, and about what love is not.\nIt is a workshop about us. About me\, about you and them… about all those who want to resolve the ties that bind us so that you can finally go your way in relationships\nRelationships are a broad and deep subject.\nI invite you to this workshop to explore your past\, present and future potential relationships. \nSet up your own constellation as a Client\n• State your issue briefly and answer a few factual questions.\n• Choose others from the group to represent your family\, watch as the facilitator gently guides the unfolding process to reveal hidden dynamics.\n• Clear confusion\, hurt and blame to resolve the issue at hand. Maintain certain privacy as only snippets of your family are revealed.\n• Allow the full impact of the experience to absorb and develop over time.\nBe a representative. \n• Experience the insight and compassion of someone else’s experience.\n• Learn through the similarities to your own personal situation.\n• See how Constellations work before deciding to do your own process.\nWHERE: PUTNEY LIBRARY\, High Street\, Putney\, London SW15 1SN\nGet to Putney Bridge Station by tube and then 5 minutes walk across the bridge.\nWHERE\, 30.10. 2021 we start 9.30 am\, until 6 pm\nCOST: £160 for a person working with their question\, £ 120 for a representative participant\nBOOKINGS http://www.familyconstellation.net/bookings.html\nContact: psychologuk@gmail.com\nWHATSAPP phone: 0795 7586656 \nSome questions you might ask yourself\n… why I’m in a relationship\, want to leave even though everything is going well\, or live in unfulfillment.\nWhy don’t I succeed even though I love\, why do I love only unattainable partners\, why do I carry so much anger inside even though He is good and She is trying? This will be a workshop about the ways of love through the patterns that function in your family. It will be a workshop where you meet and draw out the pathways of the heart\, the men and women of the family tree\, to heal what has perhaps been waiting to be seen and felt for a long time.\nThis will be a workshop about what pattern of relationship you have created as a child\, but perhaps it is no longer useful to adult life.\nPerhaps you do not see and have no place in your heart for all the actors that this pattern has played out in the past of your lineage? Are you angry at mistresses\, at women who take men? Where in the lineage is the mistress that no one sees? Are you furious about insincerity in a relationship? Where in the lineage relationship did insincerity lead to life? Who was insincere in feelings with whom? Are you unable to stand your ground in a relationship? Do you associate a relationship with something hard ? Something where you cannot grow? Where can’t you feel the love? Do you want a new partner? Is that a way out? Do you feel that you can’t move past betrayal in a relationship? Who has been betrayed and not allowed themselves to live through it to the end? Who do you carry this for\, and who are you so close to in your soul? Are you constantly being abandoned by your partners? Which woman or man has not experienced abandonment in favour of someone else? Or maybe you are still afraid to show yourself in a relationship\, and you play someone others accept\, but you still feel that it is just a mask and not the real you? The answers are within you\, in the field of your lineage.\nYou can only choose a role model when you see what you have come to choose. So this will be a workshop about where your heart is and whether you can definitely carry it in your body.\nThis workshop will be about the imbalance of feelings in a couple that causes our relationship to become a pressure cooker.\nIt will be a workshop about how love succeeds and how to love with the head\, that is\, according to the orders of love. And how to love in the body\, and not just in a mental or spiritual space.\nThis will be a workshop about life and happiness in relationships because\, as research shows\, happiness is our relationship. It is not the number of our relationships but their quality and depth.\nWithout a doubt\, this will also be a workshop about your mum and your dad\, because they are the ones who started it all\, and without naming what happens in this relationship\, it is impossible to walk on your own two feet into adulthood and leave the family home.\nDuring the workshop\, you will have the opportunity to connect deeper to your own questions and issues\, do your personal work and participate as a representative in others’ constellations. \nYour Facilitator Alex Piotrowska psychotherapist trainer\, coach. She is an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Therapy. Alex runs a private psychotherapy practice in London where she deals with relationship difficulties and couples coaching.

SUMMARY:Behind Closed Doors - Showcasing the work of writers of underrepresented genders
DESCRIPTION:Behind Closed Doors is an online scratch night showcasing the work of writers of underrepresented genders\, who are exploring themes of sex\, bodies and intimacy in their work.\nFeaturing rehearsed readings of four short plays\, this night will be asking how meaningful conversations around sex have opened up – are we more liberated? Or just finding new ways to take issues with our bodies? And how has the pandemic changed the way we date? \nA lot of people also still aren’t being invited to take part in this conversation around sex and bodies\, and the plays included in Behind Closed Doors will mainly look at how sex interacts with other areas of identity\, including how sex and non-Western cultures co-exist\, and how sex is discussed in non-heteronormative relationships. \nFilmed at Theatre Deli\, the night will be streamed straight to your living room as part of Theatre Deli’s LiveFromDeli programme. So you can join us online at 7:30 pm on 16 November for the launch night of Behind Closed Doors\, and the plays will be available to watch on-demand until 7 December. Tickets are Pay-What-You-Can. \nUnderrepresented genders include cis women\, trans women\, trans men\, non-binary people\, and those who are otherwise marginalised. \nThis night is staged by Lemon House Theatre\, a vibrant work that connects artists and audiences. They have previously orchestrated a double bill of shows at Bunker Theatre\, a scratch night at St. Margaret’s House\, and produced the audio series Lemon Lounge during the 2020 pandemic.

SUMMARY:Ukrainian Debate Series: Information War in Russia
DESCRIPTION:A panel discussion Deborah Haynes\, Sky News; Jade McGlynn\, Middlebury Institute; Václav Štětka\, Loughborough University \n\n\n\nAs millions of people in the democratic world condemn the Russian military aggression toward Ukraine\, which has now evolved into a prolonged war conflict with a detrimental impact on hundreds of thousands of human lives and severe damage to the Ukrainian economy\, the aggressor seems to maintain strong support for its “special military operation” inside Russia. Shall the Russian state-controlled media apparatus receive the credit for the Russian public’s overwhelming endorsement of President Putin? How do the Russians perceive the spread of misinformation\, manipulation of public opinion and a total crackdown on the media? Should the Russian state-controlled television RT be banned from Western media space or shall the public have free choice? Is there a case to transpose the military conflict in Ukraine to an Information War in Russia?

SUMMARY:Instant Expert: Wonders in Space
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a day of exploring the mysteries and marvels of the universe with six leading scientists. You will start where everything began\, at the Big Bang. Throughout the day\, you will hear about the formation of galaxies\, the latest research into our nearest star\, the Sun\, the mysterious physics of black holes\, the quest to find life on Mars and the discovery of habitable planets outside our solar system. \n\n\n\nThe day will be hosted by a New Scientist journalist and there will be plenty of time to ask your questions to our galaxy of space experts. \n\n\n\nTickets for our popular Instant Expert one-day masterclasses are strictly limited and usual sell out quickly\, so book now to avoid disappointment. \n\n\n\nTopics covered will include: \n\n\n\n\nBig Bang\n\n\n\nBlack Holes\n\n\n\nFormation of Galaxies\n\n\n\nMars Exploration\n\n\n\nExoplanets\n\n\n\nThe Sun\n\n\n\n\nTalks and speakers:\n\n\n\nThe Big Bang and the Atomic Universe\n\n\n\nKatherine Blundell\, Professor of Astrophysics\, University of Oxford\n\n\n\nThe Universe began 13.8 billion years ago with the Big Bang and has been expanding ever since. In this talk\, Katherine Blundell will explain the recent revolutions in our understanding of the ‘Early Universe’\, which refers to the first few seconds after the Big Bang. She will explain: \n\n\n\n+ How have these crucial moments determined our universe today+? What is meant by ‘the horizon problem’ and ‘the flatness problem’+? How can we investigate events that happened so long ago \n\n\n\nBlack Holes: the most fascinating objects in the universe\n\n\n\nChristopher Reynolds\, Professor of Astrophysics\, University of Cambridge\n\n\n\nBlack holes are some of the strangest and most fascinating objects in the Universe. A place in space where gravity pulls so much that even light cannot get out sounds like something out of science fiction. But how do black holes form\, how many are in our galaxy and beyond\, and do new and future technologies such as gravitational wave detectors and next-generation X-ray telescopes change how we observe them? \n\n\n\nGalaxies: building blocks of the universe\n\n\n\nClaudia Maraston\, Professor of Astrophysics\, University of Portsmouth\n\n\n\nGalaxies are vast collections of stars\, gas\, and dust\, held together by gravity. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are scattered throughout the universe. They are the building blocks that chart the history of our universe\, but how they form and evolve remains a mysterious process. Join Claudia Maraston as she reveals how her research modelling the galaxies of our universe is expanding our knowledge of cosmology. \n\n\n\nLooking for life on Mars\n\n\n\nAndrew Coates\, Deputy Director (solar system)\, Mullard Space Science Laboratory\, University College London\n\n\n\nAre we alone in the Universe? With missions to Mars and outer planet moons\, we hope to find out. We live in an exciting time for Mars exploration. In this talk\, Andrew Coates will discuss why Mars is a key target for space exploration\, look at some of the early results from the 2021 missions for context\, and outline our hopes for PanCam and the Rosalind Franklin rover. \n\n\n\nThe Sun: Our nearest star\n\n\n\nSarah Matthews\, Professor of Solar Physics\, University College London\n\n\n\nWhat has our nearest star taught us about all the other stars in the universe? Data from missions such as Japan’s Hinode and ESA’s Solar Orbiter has revealed much about its magnetic field\, solar flares and its corona. Join Sarah Matthews\, a solar physicist at University College London as she shares her insights on the Sun’s activity\, structure and impact on Earth based on her work on these probes. \n\n\n\nExoplanets: Life beyond the solar system?\n\n\n\nChris Impey\, Astronomer\, University of Arizona\n\n\n\nSince the first exoplanet\, or a planet beyond our solar system\, was discovered in 1995\, over 4\,000 more have been pinpointed\, including hundreds of Earth-like planets\, many of them habitable\, detected by the Kepler satellite. Join Chris Impey for a state-of-the-art account of what’s behind this accelerating progress\, what’s next\, and what it might mean for humanity’s future. \n\n\n\nWho should attend? \n\n\n\nIs anyone interested in the mysteries and marvels of space\, whatever your age or background? Whether you’re a scientist\, a student or simply a fascinated human being\, Instant Expert: Wonders of Space offers the chance to learn directly from the experts at our one-day masterclass. \n\n\n\nBenefits of attending: \n\n\n\n\nBecome an expert in one day\n\n\n\nInformal set-up\, meet like-minded people\n\n\n\nOpen your mind\, be inspired\n\n\n\nA unique chance to ask your burning questions to our experts\n\n\n\n\nWhat’s included in your ticket: \n\n\n\n\nIn-depth and engaging talks from six leading scientists\n\n\n\nAsk-an-expert Wonders of Space Question Time session\n\n\n\nYour chance to meet our six speakers and New Scientist host\n\n\n\nBuffet lunch\, plus morning and afternoon refreshments\n\n\n\nExclusive Instant Expert certificate\n\n\n\nExclusive on-the-day New Scientist subscription deal\, book and merchandise offers

SUMMARY:Inspiring Change and Driving Innovation in Safeguarding
DESCRIPTION:Get ready to be inspired and ignite innovation in safeguarding at our in-person event. \n\n\n\nInspiring Change and Driving Innovation in Safeguarding is a symposium brought to you in collaboration with Senso.Cloud and Birmingham City University as part of our ongoing Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) to mark Safer Internet Day 2024. In keeping with the theme of Safer Internet Day\, which is ‘Inspiring Change’\, the symposium will centre on the latest developments in child safeguarding technology\, especially those benefitting from linguistics\, natural language processing\, and AI. Our symposium comes at a time when: \n\nNSPCC reported an 82% rise in online grooming crimes against children from 2018 to 2023.\nAnti-Bullying Alliance reported that 1 in 5 children aged 10 to 15 years old have experienced online bullying.\nOfcom reported that in 2022\, 1/3 of children aged 8 to 15 years old saw something ‘worrying or nasty’ online.\n\nInspiring Change and Driving Innovation in Safeguarding will be a showcase of how academic and industry innovation can reduce these concerning statistics and keep children\, aged 5 to 18 in schools in the UK and beyond\, as safe as possible online. The symposium is free to attend and will take place at Birmingham City University’s STEAMhouse on 8th February 2024\, 1.00 – 4.30pm. As shown in the programme below\, the symposium will feature talks from academics\, Edtech industry representatives\, and charitable organisations at the forefront of online safeguarding. \n\n1.00pm: Welcome to Inspiring Change and Driving Innovation in Safeguarding\n1.10pm: The Challenge of Online Safeguarding\, David Wright\, UKSIC and SWGfL\n1.40pm: Insights from the Knowledge Transfer Partnership\, Dr Charlotte-Rose Kennedy\, Renato Software Ltd and Birmingham City University\n2.00-2.30pm: Coffee break (with informal networking and poster session)\n2.30pm: Online Child Sexual Grooming Discourse\, Professor Nuria Lorenzo-Dus\, Dr Craig Evans and Ruth Mullineux-Morgan\, Swansea University\n2.50pm: The Language of Children’s Online Disclosures of Abuse\, Dr Mark McGlashan\, Birmingham City University\n3.10pm: Deep Learning Approaches to Detecting Safeguarding Concerns in Schoolchildren’s Online Conversations\, Dr Emma Franklin\, independent researcher\, and Dr Tharindu Ranasinghe\, Aston University\n3.30pm-3.40pm: Coffee break\n3.40pm: Roundtable and Q&A\n4.20: Closing remarks\n\nWe hope that the symposium will be an opportunity for us all to learn and network\, and to continue to drive innovation in online safeguarding. \nPlease also note that there is an opportunity to share your posters\, banners and promotional materials at the symposium. Alongside our scheduled talks\, we welcome delegates to submit materials related to the theme of Inspiring Change and Driving Innovation in Safeguarding to be displayed throughout the day and for informal discussion during coffee breaks. Please email c.kennedy@senso.cloud if you would like to submit a poster\, display a banner\, and/or set up a table to promote your organisation. Please note that there is limited space\, so displays will be selected based on how well they fit the theme of the symposium.
