The research addresses especially sustainable mobility solutions\, such as autonomous traffic.\nresearchportal.helsinki.fi/en/persons/laura-ruotsalainen \nDr Michal Čáp is a Technical Lead in Isee AI\, an MIT spin-off company developing self-driving technology\, and a research associate in the Artificial Intelligence Centre at the Czech Technical University in Prague. He has studied information technology\, agent technology and artificial intelligence and worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology\, the USA and the Department of Cognitive Robotics\, TU Delft\, Netherlands. Motivated by the arrival of self-driving taxi companies\, he recently became interested in analysing transportation systems that employ large fleets of self-driving cars. \nDr Zsolt Szalay received the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME)\, Hungary\, in 1995\, the M.Sc. degree in business administration from Corvinus University in 1997\, and the PhD degree in mechanical engineering from BME\, in 2002. He is currently an Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Automotive Technologies\, Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He also acts as the Head of Research and Innovation with ZalaZONE Automotive Proving Ground\, the unique Hungarian infrastructure for connected and automated vehicle testing. His research interests include advanced automotive technologies related to testing and validating highly automated and autonomous vehicles. He is a committed supporter of young talents from an early age as a Children’s University lecturer and via the BME Automated Drive Lab.

The workshop will include hands-on activities\, experiments and drawing challenges. DESCRIPTION:In the Autumn of 2021\, the Totonac people sent a powerful message to World Leaders gathered at COP26. That message was TOTEM LATAMAT. \nThis ORIGINS film captures TOTEM LATAMAT’s incredible 9\,000km journey from a Mexican forest to the Indigenous Elders’ COP26 camp in Glasgow and its eventual return to the Earth in Dumfries. \nCommissioned by Border Crossings’ ORIGINS Festival and carved by Indigenous Totonac artist Jun Tiburcio\, TOTEM LATAMAT encapsulated Indigenous spirituality and environmentalism. It emphasised how deeply our existence is interwoven with nature\, calling attention to the damage being done to the seas\, the land and the air\, insisting that we cannot ignore the planet’s destruction any longer. \nTOTEM LATAMAT travelled to the UK by ship and visited important cultural hubs across the country\, including London\, Coventry\, Milton Keynes and Manchester. This film highlights its impact on those who encountered it\, drawing strong links between Indigenous experience and local heritage. \nThis event is a free online film screening: register via Eventbrite to receive the online viewing link.
