SUMMARY:Philip Mirowski talk: The infirmity of open science in pharmaceutical research
DESCRIPTION:Rather than the panacea for the ills of science in the 21st century\, open science is a Trojan Horse for reinforcing the neoliberal commercialisation of science; thus argues prominent historian and philosopher Philip Mirowski. In this event\, he presents further evidence from the pharmaceuticals sector to support this thesis and demonstrate how the program is failing. \nA panel discussion chaired by UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP) Director Mariana Mazzucato will follow\, featuring Jack Stilgoe (UCL Department of Science and Technology Studies) and Matthew Todd (Open Source Pharma and UCL School of Pharmacy).

SUMMARY:T.O.A.D. Show at Lesnes Abbey\, Bexley
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to our T.O.A.D. Show at Lesnes Abbey\, Bexley\, hosted by Froglife’s London Tails Of Amphibian Discovery (T.O.A.D.) Project. Come along for a fun day out for children and adults! \nThis event celebrates the successful pond restoration of Pine Pond carried out by Froglife and the local council in March 2019. Before the work\, Pine Pond had little native vegetation\, low oxygen levels and no breeding amphibians. Within 2 weeks of the restoration work\, toads were spotted breeding in the pond. The UK’s toad population has declined by 68% over the last 30 years so Pine Pond is now a valuable asset in helping the species survive. \nOur T.O.A.D Show will include a variety of free activities available for the public to get involved with\, including: \n• Free Wildlife Photography Workshops with an expert wildlife photographer\n• Virtual Reality Experience – See what life is like from a toad’s point-of-view!\n• Guided Walks around the site\n• Local street artists live-painting a mural of a common toad (1 of an edition of 7 in London)\n• Pond Doctor – Ask our resident expert any questions you have about amphibians or ponds\n• Information Stand – Learn how to identify London’s reptiles and amphibians and find out what it takes to build the perfect pond\n• Children’s activities

SUMMARY:Professor Brian Cox - Universal Adventure in Space
DESCRIPTION:Professor Brian Cox has announced a second round dates to his Universal: Adventures in Space and Time tour. \nTickets go on general sale at 10am on November 2:\nhttp://bit.ly/professorbriancox2019\nhttps://www.eatmytickets.com/en/artist/professor-brian-cox/ \nhttps://www.axs.com/uk/events/364358/professor-brian-cox-tickets?skin=theo2 \nThe physicist\, TV presenter and author will follow up his previously confirmed February tour with an additional five dates in September\, including stops in Brighton\, Plymouth\, Cardiff\, Bournemouth and London\, where he’ll take over the O2 Arena. \n  \nWho is Professor Brian?\nHaving set two Guinness World Record titles with his previous sell-out live UK and Ireland tour\, Professor Brian Cox\, OBE is heading back out on the road with a brand new show for 2019\, Professor Brian Cox – Universal: Adventures in Space and Time. Extra UK dates have been added due to phenomenal demand\, with an additional new date at The O2 on Thursday 19 September 2019. \nTaking audiences to the edge of our current understanding about the origin and evolution of our Solar System and the Universe\, Universal: Adventures In Space and Time offers a fascinating insight into the workings of nature at the most fundamental level. Whether an avid science reader or a total novice\, Professor Cox makes challenging ideas accessible to all\, exploring the vast\, possibly infinite universe and our place within it from earth to the edges of the cosmos. Brian will once again be joined by co-host of The Infinite Monkey Cage and award-winning comedian Robin Ince to oversee an audience Q&A\, giving fans the chance to ask any questions they have and making every show unique. \nUsing state of the art graphics and imagery from ground-based telescopes and space probes\, presented using ultra-high-resolution LED screen technology\, Brian will explore the latest missions to the planets\, the nature of space and time from the Big Bang to black holes and the origin and fate of life and intelligence in the Universe. He will also address questions about the value of science\, how we acquire scientific knowledge and why we should trust it. Visual highlights will include a journey around and into a black hole\, created in partnership with Double Negative\, the four-time Academy Award-winning visual effects company responsible for creating the black hole effects in the movie Interstellar. \nProfessor Brian Cox said: “On the last tour I loved talking about astronomy and cosmology in very large venues that usually only host rock bands. The great advantage was the ability to use vast\, state of the art screens to display images of the cosmos as we’ve never seen them before. 30 meter-wide images from the Hobble Space Telescope are certainly something to behold. On this new tour\, I’m going to go a step further with the technology\, to the horror of my promoter because it’ll be bloody expensive. But it’ll be bloody spectacular as well\, and I hope it’ll offer people a completely new perspective on our place in the Universe.” \nBrian is Professor of Particle Physics at The University of Manchester\, The Royal Society Professor for Public Engagement in Science and a Fellow of the Royal Society. As a broadcaster\, he has presented a number of highly acclaimed science programmes for the BBC\, boosting the popularity of subjects such as astronomy and physics and garnering a host of accolades\, including two Royal Television Society awards and a Peabody Award for Wonders Of The Solar System. He has also authored a series of best-selling books\, including the widely acclaimed Human Universe and the recently released Universal: A Guide to the Cosmos\, and is recognised as the foremost communicator for all things scientific. His critically acclaimed BBC series\, Forces of Nature\, aired in 2016 whilst he recently once again co-hosted Stargazing Live. He holds two Guinness World Record titles for a science tour for his total sell-out debut tour\, which began in 2016 and saw over 150\,000 people attend in total\, including a sell-out show at Wembley Arena.

SUMMARY:9th International Conference on Petrochemistry & Chemical Engineering
DESCRIPTION:Petrochemistry 2020 is the leading annual meeting designed for International Researchers\, Petrochemical Scientists\, Petroleum and Chemistry Faculty\, Chemical engineers\, Sustainable development professionals\, Academicians\, Scientists\, Professors\, Chairman’s\, Presidents\, Directors and Students around the globe to facilitate the dissemination and application of research findings related to Petroleum\, petrochemicals and to display the latest techniques. \n9th International Conference on Petrochemistry and Chemical Engineering welcome attendees with the subject “Innovative Mechanization for Evolution of Petrochemical Engineering” which incorporates brief keynote introductions\, Oral talks\, Poster introductions and Exhibitions. \nPetrochemistry2020 will provide an ideal opportunity for industry experts\, leading engineers\, Researchers and technical managers as well as university scholars to share ideas and Research achievements related to petroleum & petrochemical technology and discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted. It will create a platform to bridge achieving sustainable development by using education and technology. Petroleum is a thick\, dark to yellow\, combustible fluid blend of hydrocarbons. Petroleum formed\, principally underneath the Earth’s surface\, and is accepted to begin from the collected stays of antiquated plants and creatures. It is the wellspring of petrochemicals and is utilized to make gas\, greasing up oils\, plastics\, and numerous different items. The investigations are more worried to Petroleum topography\, Drilling and Production Technology\, Refinery Process\, Petroleum and Chemical process control. Propelled thinks about are being made to improvements in Enhanced Oil Recovery\, petro chemistry\, Fossil Fuel and Biofuels\, Petroleum items and their uses\, while\, natural resources are resources that exist without actions of humankind. The conference aims at multi-disciplined audiencewith diverse commercial\, technical\, corporate\, operations\, planning sectors of the upstream oil and gas engineering services. \nPrimary petrochemicals include methanol\, ethylene\, propylene\, butadiene\, benzene\, toluene and xylene. Products Made from Petrochemicals also include plastics\, soaps\, detergents\, solvents (such as paint thinner)\, paints\, fertilizers\, pesticides\, explosives\, synthetic fibers and rubbers\, and flooring and insulating materials. \nThe two most common petrochemical classes are Olefins and Aromatics\, Oil refineries produce olefins and aromatics by fluid catalytic cracking of petroleum fractions. \nOlefins include Propene\, Butenes and butadiene. Ethylene and propylene are important sources of industrial chemicals and plastics products. Butadiene is used in making synthetic rubber. \nImportance and Scope \nOil is sold as fuel oil and melted oil gas. Interest for oil is driven via auto and truck use\, and home warming. The best two nations that expend the most oil are China and Japan; together they represent 20% of aggregate worldwide utilization. The U.S. fuel oil and LP gas merchants had add up to yearly income of about $770 billion out of 2013\, from around 5\,400 organizations. An oil design is engaged with almost the greater part of the phases of oil and gas field assessment\, improvement and generation. The point of their work is to boost hydrocarbon recuperation at least cost while keeping up a solid accentuation on decreasing natural effect. The world economy utilizes around 60 billion tons of assets every year to deliver the products and ventures which we as a whole expend. On the normal\, a man in Europe expends around 36kg of assets for each day; a man in North America devours around 90kg every day\, a man in Asia expends around 14 kg such an enormous utilization uncover the need of this. \nAromatics includes Benzene\, toluene and xylenes\, as a whole referred to as BTX and primarily obtained from petroleum refineries by extraction from the reformate produced in catalytic reformers using Naphtha obtained from petroleum refineries \nWho Can Attend? \nPetroleum Chemistry Professors\, Oil and Gas Societies\, Petroleum Engineering Faculty\, Petrology Graduates\, Petroleum Technology Students\, Oil and Gas Research Scholars\, Oil and Gas Scientists\, Petroleum Analysts\, Chemical Engineering Professors\, Petroleum Chemicals Marketers. It is a forum to explore issues of mutual concern as well as exchange knowledge\, share evidence\, create arrangements\, ideas\, and generate solutions. \nWhy to attend? \nPetro chemistry 2020 offers a fabulous chance to meet and make new contacts in the field of Petroleum geography\, Refinery Gases\, by giving coordinated effort spaces and break-out rooms with tea and lunch for delegatesbetween sessions with important systems administration time for you. It enables representatives to have issues tended to on Petroleum and concoction process controlby perceived worldwide specialists who are in the know regarding the most recent advancements in the Petroleum field and give data on new procedures and advances.
