SUMMARY:Gothic Opera presents: La Dame de Pique

SUMMARY:Rostro x Eminem | The Cockpit Theatre
DESCRIPTION:When classical music meets hip-hop.Rostro x Eminem is a solo performance piece — part concert\, part play — that navigates the collision between two worlds: the universe of classical music and the raw\, rebellious energy of hip-hop. \nAt its centre is Olivier\, a young man raised under the weight of his father’s dream — that he become a great cellist in the image of Mstislav Rostropovich. But Olivier hears something else calling him. \nThrough live music and storytelling\, the show traces his coming of age — the pull between inheritance and rebellion\, between who we are told to be and who we choose to become — building towards a decisive event that forces him to finally become the author of his own story. The cello is present throughout: sometimes the instrument his father demands he master\, sometimes reimagined as a weapon of his own rebellion\, put at the service of hip-hop. \nWritten\, directed and performed by Olivier van den Hende \nRunning time: 60 minutes\, no interval\nAge guidance: 14+ (strong language)\nLanguage: English \nAbout the artist\nOlivier van den Hende is a Franco-American actor\, director\, writer and classically trained cellist based in London. He trained at RADA. Screen credits include recurring roles on France Télévisions (Un si grand soleil\, L’Or Bleu) and the Cannes Official Selection film 13 jours\, 13 nuits (Pathé). He is co-founder of Le Garage\, a small theatre in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. Rostro x Eminem is his second solo show\, following L’Instinct de Mort by Jacques Mesrine (Avignon Off 2024 and La Comédie Saint-Michel\, Paris).

SUMMARY:Binary Lives - Where Fate Takes Us | The Cockpit Theatre
DESCRIPTION:A train never arrives. Time slips out of sync.\nAs the world rushes elsewhere\, two strangers\, trapped on the same station bench\, invent increasingly absurd ways to fill the empty hours. \nBlending visually poetic performance and physical theatre\, this wordless duet transforms a familiar transit space into a playground of balance\, imagination\, and human connection. \nIn this suspended dimension\, everything changes shape: glances turn into conversations\, quarrels become playful games\, and shared silences evolve into an unexpected encounter. Two parallel lives slowly interfere\, clash\, and briefly align. \nFunny\, tender\, and quietly surreal\, it turns boredom into play\, proving that sometimes the most radical journey is not moving at all. \nThe show is performed without words; drawing on a universal language\, the two performers range from physical theatre to contemporary circus\, in a poetic and ethereal atmosphere. \nThe show won the ‘Best Direction’ award at the Rome Fringe Festival and was selected for the Thessaloniki Fringe. It has been touring Italy for two years.

SUMMARY:Dünyada | The Space
DESCRIPTION:Dünyada (on earth) comes to The Space for three performances at Voila! Theatre Festival. Mehmet Ali Nuroğlu brings a stranger’s memories of home\, love and loss into an intimate\, darkly funny solo show\, reimagining Will Eno’s Title and Deed. First-time theatregoers are welcome. \n“I’m not from here.” \nA man arrives with a suitcase\, a camera\, and a voice that seems sad somehow. \nThis November\, internationally acclaimed actor and director Mehmet Ali Nuroğlu brings his visceral\, high-intensity solo performance Dünyada to Voila! Theatre Festival. Dünyada\, meaning “on earth”\, is a formally adventurous solo theatre that tears the fabric of one-person play through cinematic camera work\, visual extension and sound design. Reimagining Will Eno’s celebrated monologue Title and Deed\, the production offers an evocative exploration of alienation and belonging\, and an exitential exploration of love and death in a digital age. \nNuroğlu walking the thin line between the mundane duties of keeping things going and the emotional disorder of remembering (like all of us). In a raw\, technical struggle\, he manages lighting and soundscapes in real-time\, creating a parallax between his physical body and his digital ghost. \nIntimate\, funny\, unsettling\, and deeply\, deeply human. \nA salute to the progress in life\, to being here\, now\, right now. On stage.

SUMMARY:Legend of Kaliakra | Cockpit Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Inspired by the legend of forty maidens who chose death over slavery\, Legend of Kaliakra explores the hidden emotional lives of the women behind one of Bulgaria’s most enduring stories. Blending poetic text and music\, the production explores what remains unseen in history: the psychological and emotional worlds of the women behind the legend – their fears\, guilt\, love\, courage\, and confrontation with the oppressor. \nThrough four interconnected female perspectives\, the work reimagines a historical narrative as a story of choice\, dignity\, and freedom. Performed in Bulgarian with English subtitles. Elitsaa Yovcheva directed the play at the National Theatre and the Youth Theatre in Bulgaria. The show premiered in Sofia in 2023 and has since toured cities along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Making its London premiere at the VOILA! Festival\, Legend of Kaliakra invites UK audiences to encounter a powerful Bulgarian story through the shared language of theatre\, movement\, and music.

SUMMARY:The Radical Wedding Engine | Cockpit Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Five people decide to get married. To each other. Sort of. But how do you build a wedding when the rules don’t quite fit? The Radical Wedding Engine is a playful experiment in marriage\, chosen family and artistic partnership. Five East Asian migrant artists who have worked together for years take the wedding apart and put it back together again — testing vows\, rituals\, traditions and expectations along the way. What happens when an artistic partnership starts to look like a marriage? Can a wedding celebrate friendship\, collaboration and chosen family? And what might commitment look like beyond the couple? Moving between sincerity and absurdity\, intimacy and spectacle\, they explore different ways of caring\, committing and belonging\, while attempting to build a ceremony of their own. Developed through The Yard Theatre’s Live Drafts programme and a Making Space residency at Battersea Arts Centre.

SUMMARY:Huella by Isadora - London Theatre
DESCRIPTION:At the edge of ecological collapse\, Huella unfolds around an ambiguous waterfall carrying the memory of water\, as new geologies emerge. Through eco-poetic symbolism\, a danced installation-performance of textural and flamenco soundscapes traverses dissonant yet porous\, solastalgic bodies and landscapes\, entangled in the waterfall’s trace.\nOpening onto an uncertain time between an altered present and a future archive\, the waterfall holds play\, intimacies\, rituals\, human and animal passages\, alongside contaminated sediments and materials that persist. \nHuella emerges from the lived tension of perceiving the living world’s alteration while continuing to inhabit everyday life. It resonates with solastalgia: the feeling that arises as a familiar environment transforms while we are still living within it.\nThe narrative is embodied through a movement language inspired by contemporary improvisation and the geometries of Vogue and flamenco aesthetics.\nFragments from Lorca’s Suites and Libro de poemas also appear as poetic undercurrents. \nIsadora is a French-Tunisian artist working across movement\, performance and installation\, born in Paris and based in London. As a Vogue performer and member of the Iconic House of Milan (as Isadora Milan)\, she walks balls internationally. She develops an experimental movement language inspired by New Way Vogue\, Arms Control\, contemporary improvisation and flamenco. Her hybrid practice seeks to unsettle dominant perceptions of feminine representation and embodiment\, while increasingly engaging with ecological transformation and with human and more-than-human experiences. She also works with costume and objects as spaces for transformation and play. \nDirected and performed by: Isadora\nInstallation concept: Isadora\nCante: Carlos de Luisa\nOriginal guitar composition and live guitar: Michael McMahon\nCostume design: Isadora\, Amber Jiang\nLighting design: Emma Gasson. \nBooking: https://tickets.thecockpit.org.uk/sales/Shows/voila-festival-2026/huella

SUMMARY:Three Little Pigs | Cockpit Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Every day\, thousands of migrant construction workers raise homes\, offices\, theatres and hospitals\, spaces where other lives unfold. They build stability\, safety and permanence\, often while living in temporary rooms\, on unstable contracts\, with families far away and futures on hold. ‘Three Little Pigs’ is a new theatre performance informed by conversations with construction workers across the UK. Developed following conversations with migrant construction workers\, the play begins with three construction workers on a building site. The piece sits somewhere between comedy and drama\, much like life on site itself. There is constant humour in the routines\, in the banter\, in the absurd situations that arise day to day. Jokes become a way of coping\, of bonding\, of getting through long hours and difficult conditions. At the same time\, those moments sit alongside the pressure\, the risk and the things that are harder to say out loud. The story is also rooted in real experience. Director Sava Cebotari came to the UK after being forced to leave Russia following the war in Ukraine and worked in construction to support his family while trying to find his way back into theatre. The people he met there helped open the door to the wider research process behind the piece. Built from conversation\, research and lived experience\, Three Little Pigs offers a glimpse into the lives behind the labour. \nThe play is ENTIRELY FICTIONAL. SUMMARY:Family Shakespeare: Pyramus & Thisbe - November | The Cockpit Theatre
DESCRIPTION:The Rude Mechanicals have been asked to perform a play at the Duke’s wedding. Trouble is\, they’ve forgotten to write it! Can you help? \nDo you remember Pyramus & Thisbe? And because so much of the show is led by the audience\, you’ll never see the same show twice! Our shows can be enjoyed by kids of all ages\, and grown-ups too! SUMMARY:THE HUMAN VOICE by Jean Cocteau| The Cockpit Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Elliot Pritchard stars as The Woman in the immortal classic of love lost over the telephone. \nThe telephone rings. During the call The Woman gradually loses her battle to retain her lover. On one end of the phone\, there is the person who cannot be false to their nature. They are being abandoned by the unseen lover on the other end of the phone who cannot face up to their nature at all. \nIn a new physical theatre adaptation\, The Human Voice leads us down the steep descent into emotional defeat and loneliness\, the destiny of many who feel outside of society\, a universal feeling that we all\, intermittently\, share. \nFeaturing outstanding new theatre artist Elliot Pritchard as The Woman in his first solo show\, the production by Andrew Visnevski returns this world-famous piece to the queer world which inspired it originally almost 100 years ago. A scintillating legend of French cultural life and a personal friend of Marcel Proust\, Pablo Picasso\, Max Jacob\, Igor Stravinsky\, Man Ray and Lee Miller among others\, Jean Cocteau was openly self-declared homosexual and his work as revolutionary film-maker\, critic\, writer\, highly individual illustrator and painter attested to it. Cocteau’s use of metaphors\, mirrors and masks expresses the covert longings and the semi-fantasy of existence when an individual is ‘out-of-norm’ in society. \nShow times:\nTues-Sat: 7:30pm – 8:40pm\nSat: 3:30pm – 4:40pm
