SUMMARY:Mendaki (To Climb)
DESCRIPTION:MENDAKI (formerly Siapa Yang Bawa Melayu Aku Pergi?) is Faizal Abdullah’s unflinching solo performance reclaiming his Muslim-Malay-Singaporean identity from colonial myths\, state narratives and disappearing heritage. Part performance-lecture\, part cultural love letter\, it slices through history\, identity and language with wit\, rage and unexpected tenderness. \nOver the course of an hour\, Faizal shifts between himself and his alter-egos\, inviting you into a world where history is carefully curated\, identity is state-regulated\, and being Muslim-Malay in Singapore can sometimes feel like quiet rebellion. From colonial treaties to National Service\, from void deck weddings to National Day parades\,personal history collides with political inheritance\, and lost narratives are brought to life. \nYou’ll learn\, laugh\, and question what you know about the little red dot that is Singapore. MENDAKI is an urgent act of memory and resistance; a bold stand for language\, belonging and the refusal to disappear. \n2023 Eclipse Award winner.

SUMMARY:Dick Fiddlers is Dead - London Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Dick Fiddler is convinced he’s dead. Grieving his job\, his status and his own existence he meets Jenny:  mysterious\, funny and carrying a suitcase full of Kleftiko. As they cook\, clash and connect\, memory twists and reality slips. What if nothing is quite what it seems? \nDick Fiddler is Dead is a new\, tender tragicomedy that explores identity\, loss and the quiet absurdity of everyday life. Set in a world where logic bends and memory misbehaves\, this two-hander blends dark humour\, surreal encounters and explores the struggle to stir memory into meaning\, layering fragmented pasts with the taste of something real.

SUMMARY:XQUENDA
DESCRIPTION:Xquenda is the story of a young indigenous woman from rural Oaxaca\, and her search for justice after the disappearance and murder of her best friend. No one seems to care due to their social and economic conditions. \nHer protest is through her Poems.\nHer weapon is her Words. \nThrough letters written while she’s protesting\, we get to know her life\, her traditions and culture\, the magical realism that is the heart of her town\, and her love and connection with her ancestors and with the nature of the world that surrounds her\, which\, although beautiful\, is not necessarily fair for women. \nXquenda is a word in ancient Zapotec which means “Soul”\, referring to the true self of a person\, and what remains on earth after death. \nAccompanied by live music and recorded tracks with traditional Mexican rhythms\, the piece is performed in English\, Spanish\, and Zapotec languages. \nBased on a true story.

SUMMARY:When the Clarion Came to Call
DESCRIPTION:In this audacious solo performance by artist and somatic traumatologist Stefan Jovanović Kaasa\, myth meets movement in a ritual that resists categorisation and demands to be felt before understood. The clarion\, a winged healer\, emerges from the shadows bearing messages of warning and transformation. \nCombining dance\, physical theatre\, spoken word\, storytelling and song\, When the Clarion Came to Call unfolds in the round across nine archetypal chapters. It channels the cyclical nature of trauma and healing\, tracing the fractured lines between accountability and the possibility of renewal. At its centre is the clarion—a mystical bird-being and symbol of queer resilience—inviting audiences into a shared space of reckoning\, intimacy and the phantasmagorical. \nAlthough fully scripted\, this work is dynamically shaped by the presence of each audience and the collective energy of gathering. Without requiring active participation\, you are invited to engage with your total attention—bringing your full self\, just as you are. The piece blurs the line between theatre and ritual\, myth and memory\, performer and witness. The clarion does not explain. It calls. \nThis Cockpit UK premiere marks the debut of Strange Fictions\, Jovanović Kaasa’s new performance company\, previously known as Studio Stefan Jovanović. Under that name\, his past works include Constellations (Sadler’s Wells\, Lilian Baylis Studio\, 2019) and Drumming in the Hall of the Mountain (Derby Festé\, 2022).

SUMMARY:(the) Woman - London Theatre
DESCRIPTION:M is a writer.  M is a mother.  M is a woman. \nThe triumph of M’s hit play is hijacked by motherhood – M is burnt out\, angry\, lonely\, craving intimacy but disengaged\, and terrified of the future. \nShe wants to tell her story\, her way. But\, everyone around her shares their opinions on who she is\, who she should be and how she’s f*cking everything up. \nFiercely funny and brutally honest\, award-winning writer Jane Upton’s Bruntwood Prize shortlisted play shatters the glossy veneer of motherhood\, exposing its raw\, messy truth\, and dares to question the definition of (her) self.

SUMMARY:Knife on The Table - London Theatre
DESCRIPTION:A new Bruntwood-longlisted play about gangs\, love and family\, and communities battling ambition\, poverty and identity. \nFlint is an excluded teen\, a “soldier”\, dealing on the streets of SW London\, but still looking to get back into the good books of childhood sweetheart Book. \nBook is studious\, babysits for Flint’s younger sister\, and is keen to leave her road’s deprivation. She wants to move to the suburbs and avoid Flint\, ending her chances. \nBragg’s a captain\, pressuring Flint to deepen his commitment\, drive higher sales\, and prove his colours. \nShania is a pregnant teen\, a friend to Book\, and a member of Bragg’s crew. How Shania was initiated\, held the food\, and met the dealers is nothing compared to some of what she’s witnessed. Now\, she doesn’t sleep. \nChantal is Flint’s mother. She worries about Flint but isn’t about easily letting Flint’s dad back into his life. \nDanny is a Childline listener\, a former gang member\, a convict\, and Flint’s estranged father. He is on a journey back to his son. But will he find Flint before it’s too late? \nCarol\, outreach and youth worker\, and Danny’s girlfriend. SUMMARY:Mountains Have Rules For A Reason
DESCRIPTION:A brand new horror play set to make it’s debute in London and Edinburgh\, which explored the dark fables from within the Appalachian mountains and applies them to a brand new story. \nThe Appalachian Mountains have rules for a reason\, but what happens when those rules are broken? \nWhen Christina’s grandfather retired he moved to the mountains in search of monsters\, now he has passed he’s left her a cabin in the woods to clear up\, a series of scribbled journals and a set of oddly specific rules. SUMMARY:Twelfth Night directed by Olivier Award Winner Bill Alexander
DESCRIPTION:The Chronicle Theatre Company is proud to offer its audience one of the world’s greatest plays in a simple\, lean and accessible production suitable for all ages and dedicated to clarity\, honesty\, and laughter. \nDirected by Olivier Award Winner Bill Alexander\nProduced by Jonny Wiles \nShakespeare’s most famous comedy is rooted in tragedy. Within the first quarter of an hour we meet a young woman confronting the horrific possibility that her twin brother is drowned\, a young man in an agony of rejected love\, and a household servant who believes fate has made him a slave when he should be a lord. The genius of the play lies in how the author weaves these stories together in the music of comedy while the principle characters experience life though the grating noise of tragically unfulfilled desires\, self deceit\, and constant humiliation. This emotional juggling act could only have been pulled off by a great writer at the height of his power. \nDuration\n \nApprox. 1 hour 10 minutes \nTickets \nPreview 24th September: All Tickets £18 25th \nSeptember to 11th October: £23.50 General Admissions /£19.50 concessions. \n13th-18th October: £25.50 General Admissions /£21.50 concessions.

SUMMARY:The Pitchfork Disney
DESCRIPTION:“You know why the ghost train is so popular? Because there are no ghosts. Once you’ve learnt that you can make a fortune.”\nTen years ago something terrible happened to Presley and Haley. Since then they’ve lived alone in their dead parents’ house\, doors bolted against the terrors of the world. But\, one night\, Presley sees a beautiful stranger on the street outside. And while his sister sleeps… he invites in their worst nightmare. \nDarkly comic and deeply unsettling\, Philip Ridley’s seminal masterpiece single-handedly changed the course of British drama. Its exploration of ‘a climate of fear’\, living in ‘alternate worlds’\, and persistent thrum of sexual anxiety has continued to act as a tuning fork for the zeitgeist. It is a play whose relevance is forever in the now. \nLidless Theatre has a long-standing collaboration with Philip Ridley and is now set to return with a landmark production—his first-ever play\, The Pitchfork Disney. One of Ridley’s most celebrated and influential works\, this production marks a major moment in their partnership. \nFresh from two sell-out\, ★★★★★ runs at Park Theatre\, including Leaves of Glass\, which broke Park90’s box office records\, Lidless Theatre continues to champion Ridley’s groundbreaking storytelling on stage. \nPost-Show Q&A with writer Philip Ridley on 8 & 22 Sept \nActors Workshop with Philip Ridley on 16 Sept & 23 Sept
