SUMMARY:Never Tell Me The Odds
DESCRIPTION:Never Tell Me The Odds is set on Christmas Eve in a private London rehab. Three days sober and fraying at the seams\, Maddy is stuck in a place where the lights are fluorescent\, the tree is dull\, and connection is both the threat and the cure. When ghosts from her past come crashing through the walls – the married man she nearly ruined herself for\, the soft-hearted friend she almost loved\, the night she almost stepped into traffic – Maddy is forced to confront the life she was desperate to disappear from. \nIn a room full of strangers\, she must decide whether to keep haunting the living while conversing with the dead\, or to claw her way back to reality. Never Tell Me The Odds is a raw\, sharply funny drama about addiction\, the unbearable weight of being seen\, and the terrifying hope of staying alive long enough for things to get better.

SUMMARY:Boogie on the Bones
DESCRIPTION:In Soviet Moscow\, wearing a yellow tie is an act of rebellion. Dancing to jazz could cost you everything.\nThis is the story of the stilyagi — young people who chose colour over conformity\, music over safety\, and love over ideology. \n“We wanted to live like Americans\, but we created something of our own — something human.” \nMoscow\, 1956. In Stalin’s grey world\, a group of young rebels called stilyagi dare to wear bright clothes and dance to American jazz. Bob\, a medical student\, smuggles Western music by carving grooves into X-ray films — literally “boogie on the bones.” When Komsomol officer Mels falls for the mysterious Polly during a police raid\, he must choose between duty and desire\, safety and self-expression.\nThis electrifying new musical follows Mels’s transformation from loyal party member to passionate jazz musician\, guided by Bob’s darkly comic wisdom and the charismatic Fred\, who carries a devastating secret from his trip to America. As the authorities tighten their grip and friends disappear one by one\, these young dreamers discover that sometimes the only way to stay human under an authoritarian regime is to put on a bright tie and play jazz. \nInspired by real events Boogie on the Bones is a story of love\, music\, and the price of freedom. With echoes of Cabaret and the energy of West Side Story\, this intimate chamber musical asks: what would you risk to be yourself? \nA powerful reminder that in the darkest times\, art becomes rebellion\, and every song is an act of defiance.

(Terms & conditions apply). \nIt is 2034\, and a group of billionaires control even more of the world than they do today. They believe they have discovered an invention which could change what it means to be human. They believe they have unlocked the secret of human continuity. And they need patient 7… \nCONTINUITY: A satirical and darkly comic tale about humanity’s yearning for immortality – and what happens when technology and vast wealth manipulate the very essence of what makes us human. And\, more importantly\, can I get a better phone?’.

SUMMARY:John Vanbrugh: The Drama of Architecture
DESCRIPTION:To coincide with the publication of his book\, John Vanbrugh: The Drama of Architecture\, Charles Saumarez Smith will give a lunchtime talk on Vanbrugh’s extraordinary life: his upbringing; why he spent so much time in a French gaol; the writing of The Relapse and The Provoked Wife; and how he came to design Castle Howard with no previous experience of architecture. Saumarez Smith will give particular attention to Vanbrugh’s work as a theatrical impresario and the designer of the Queen’s Theatre\, Haymarket\, so disastrous as a venue for plays\, but where all of Handel’s early operas were performed. He will then describe Vanbrugh’s quarrel with the Duchess of Marlborough and his later work as an architect\, at King’s Weston\, Claremont\, Grimsthorpe\, Seaton Delaval and Stowe. In recent years\, Vanbrugh’s reputation as an architect has been eclipsed by his subordinate\, Nicholas Hawksmoor. This talk and the accompanying book will explain Vanbrugh’s originality and influence on later architects from Robert Adam to Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown. \nCharles Saumarez Smith is a writer\, curator and art historian. He has served as Director of the National Portrait Gallery and the National Gallery\, London\, as Secretary and Chief Executive of the Royal Academy of Arts\, London\, as Professor of Architectural History at the Royal Academy of Arts\, and Chairman of The Royal Drawing School and The Watercolour World. He is currently a Trustee of the Garden Museum\, and Emeritus Trustee of ArtUK and Charleston. \nCopies of the book will be available for purchase in the Foyer at a special price. \nFurther details of the book available here

SUMMARY:Woo Woolf
DESCRIPTION:This is not a Virginia Woolf bio-play.  Devised by an all migrant ensemble\, Woo Woolf is a playful protest that reaches across time\, culture\, and language to meet Virginia Woolf in mischief and metaphor. Tracing gendered histories\, fleeting memories\, and migrant feelings through bodies\, screens\, and shifting voices\, the piece invites new ways of seeing\, feeling\, and remembering across language and tradition. \nCreated by Ensemble Not Found (ENF)\, a collective of first-generation ESEA artists\, Woo Woolf draws inspiration from Woolf’s diaries and gender philosophy to explore fluid identity through movement\, multilingual text\, and audiovisual performance. Blending everyday conversation with surreal imagery and fragmented theatrical forms\, the work gently unsettles cultural boundaries and fixed narratives. Developed since 2023\, Woo Woolf has been performed at Theatre Deli and Camden People’s Theatre. \n‘This is not your average storytelling. It can be puzzling. And yet\, I can’t stop looking’ – The Play’s The Thing UK\n‘The performance was truly beautiful and sincere. Powerful and soft\, hitting you in the right spot while leaving a smile on your face.” – Audience response

SUMMARY:CODACHROME: a live DJ set about the time I fell in love with a [trigger warning]
DESCRIPTION:CODACHROME is a party play told by two DJs and a deck. \nRemy\, an adult\, discovers their intimate partner is a [trigger warning]\, and must now face the challenge of investigating how trauma might breed such behaviours and what it means to tend to one another’s wounds. \nThey dissect these questions whilst never skipping a beat\, because there’s nowhere more romantic to meet yourself than on the dance floor. \nThis play is a rave\, and this rave “defies conventions” and “packs a punch” – Everything Theatre

SUMMARY:The Uncontainable Nausea of Alec Baldwin
DESCRIPTION:Alec Baldwin is not a superstar. He is not really famous. He wasn’t born in 1958 and does not have eight children. Alec Baldwin has never had sex with Kim Basinger and never ever shot and killed a woman by mistake.\n\nI am Alec Baldwin. But not THE Alec Baldwin. \nThe Uncontainable Nausea of Alec Baldwin is a highly physical and multidisciplinary piece that navigates the psychological and physical breakdown of Alec Baldwin as he grapples with a pervasive sense of Nausea towards himself and the desensitised digital society he is part of.\n\nFollowing a significant life-altering event that leaves Alec largely isolated\, he becomes obsessively engaged with an AI bot\, finding solace in its unfiltered factual directness. This connection pushes Alec to question humanity’s paradoxical relationship with violence\, war and its moral double standards. Haunted by the consequences of his actions\, Alec embarks on an absurd and visceral quest to confront personal guilt and societal indifference\, while attempting to reconcile his existence with the harsh realities faced by our generation. Will Alec Baldwin break free from his Nausea?

SUMMARY:Mendaki (To Climb)
DESCRIPTION:MENDAKI (formerly Siapa Yang Bawa Melayu Aku Pergi?) is Faizal Abdullah’s unflinching solo performance reclaiming his Muslim-Malay-Singaporean identity from colonial myths\, state narratives and disappearing heritage. Part performance-lecture\, part cultural love letter\, it slices through history\, identity and language with wit\, rage and unexpected tenderness. \nOver the course of an hour\, Faizal shifts between himself and his alter-egos\, inviting you into a world where history is carefully curated\, identity is state-regulated\, and being Muslim-Malay in Singapore can sometimes feel like quiet rebellion. From colonial treaties to National Service\, from void deck weddings to National Day parades\,personal history collides with political inheritance\, and lost narratives are brought to life. \nYou’ll learn\, laugh\, and question what you know about the little red dot that is Singapore. MENDAKI is an urgent act of memory and resistance; a bold stand for language\, belonging and the refusal to disappear. \n2023 Eclipse Award winner.

No one seems to care due to their social and economic conditions. \nHer protest is through her Poems.\nHer weapon is her Words. \nThrough letters written while she’s protesting\, we get to know her life\, her traditions and culture\, the magical realism that is the heart of her town\, and her love and connection with her ancestors and with the nature of the world that surrounds her\, which\, although beautiful\, is not necessarily fair for women. \nXquenda is a word in ancient Zapotec which means “Soul”\, referring to the true self of a person\, and what remains on earth after death. \nAccompanied by live music and recorded tracks with traditional Mexican rhythms\, the piece is performed in English\, Spanish\, and Zapotec languages. \nBased on a true story.
