SUMMARY:Felukah and The Synaptik
DESCRIPTION:One of Shubbak Festival’s flagship projects for their 2021 edition\, this stellar collaboration was commissioned to bring together two of the Middle East’s most captivating rappers for a double bill concert and new song debuts. \nExclusively for this summer date\, The Synaptik and Felukah live together at London’s legendary Jazz Cafe\, which will also be streamed for their global audiences. Enjoy an energetic evening of pioneering sound like two of the most sought-after new-wave hip-hop\, rap and trap talents perform solo sets before debuting their two collaborative new singles together. \nThe Synaptik is a Palestinian-Jordanian rapper at the forefront of a new wave of Arabic rap and trap. With a steady string of new releases\, including numerous iconic collaborations with the region’s hip-hop heavyweights\, his distinctive voice and potent lyrics have cemented him as one of the pioneering artists of the Arabic-speaking world. \nExploring issues such as migration and social inequality\, The Synaptik has been able to take the region’s pulse and broadcast it worldwide through his infectious beats. \nCombining her Cairo heritage and the New York City that adopted her\, Felukah is a rapper and poet whose work glides between English and Arabic. \nFrom classic Arabic musical icons\, US hip-hop legends and contemporary prose writers\, she pays homage to her past and present\, exploring womanhood\, diaspora cultures\, and self-expression and was dubbed by Scene Noise as ‘the neo-soul artist bringing the Nile to New York’. \nPresented in partnership with MARSM\, a new collaboration commissioned by Shubbak Festival. Produced and programmed by MARSM. \n  \nBook Middle Eastern Band

He contributes not just as a guitarist but also as an arranger and composer. His work with the group has resulted in three GRAMMY Awards. \nOutside of Snarky Puppy\, Lettieri has released three albums as a leader: Knows in 2011\, Futurefun in 2013\, and most recently\, Spark and Echo in 2016 (Ropeadope)\, which climbed to #11 on Billboard’s Jazz Albums Chart\, and #2 on iTunes’ Jazz Chart. SUMMARY:Family Campfire Club: Jon Boden
DESCRIPTION:Join other local families for an afternoon around the campfire with music\, singalongs\, and nature activities for your kids.\nThis summer\, The Nest Collective invites you to discover extraordinary music around the campfire. \nFor over five years\, Campfire Club has been the way for people to gather in beautiful green spaces and listen to amazing music from all over the world. We enjoy music in the simple way that people have done for thousands of years\, around the fire with food\, drink\, and each other. \nEach event includes: \n\nPerformances of stunning unamplified music\nSingalongs round the campfire\nNature activities for your kids\nFood and drink (local ales\, snacks)\n\nJon Boden \n“One of the most venerated of the younger Brit Folk generation” – The Guardian \nJon Boden has become the stand out performer of his generation of traditional folk artists\, but one whose repertoire extends far beyond the boundaries of the genre. \nMost recognisably\, he was the lead singer (and one of the principal arrangers) of the multi-award winning Bellowhead\, one of the most exciting live acts of recent years. \nWhat the audience said: \n“This event was phenomenal. I cannot wait until I attend another one… the musicians were something else. I certainly didn’t feel as though I was in Peckham\, but some enchanted woodlands.” \n“The atmosphere was incredible\, I knew I would love the music\, but I loved the atmosphere just as much.” \n“Walking into a wonderland of nature with beautiful music and people made me feel wonderfully elated.”

SUMMARY:The Legend of William Onyeabor
DESCRIPTION:Bridging funk\, disco and afrobeat\, Nigerian synthesizer whiz William Onyeabor’s style was wholly unique and revolutionary for the time and place in which he grew up. Bukky Leo’s Black Egypt collective have put together a full show that unequivocally celebrates the life and times of one of music’s true icons. \nMysterious and reclusive to the end\, by the time people in the West had started taking notice of his music in the 80s he’d converted to Christianity and distanced himself from the treasure trove of space-funk beats he’d made. Since then\, if you mentioned his life in music around him\, he would stop the conversation dead. \nNaturally\, rumours would fill the void: Onyeabor had gone on to run a flour mill; he went to film school in Soviet Russia; he went to study law in London. His legend grew and grew. \nAfter years of work\, Luaka Bop finally got permission to publish his work as Who Is William Onyeabor?\, with Onyeabor telling the labels Yale Evelev: ‘Yale\, you can sell my music\, but don’t sell me’. \nSince then they’ve re-issued his entire discography\, giving his synth-funk new life and carrying his legend on for generations to come.

SUMMARY:Campfire Club: Fay Hield Live Concert
DESCRIPTION:Fay Hield Live Concert\n \nThe Nest Collective invites you to enjoy a beautiful outdoor concert with Fay Hield. \nEvery week from June to September\, we gather in beautiful green spaces across London to hear extraordinary music by artists from all over the world. \nIn the simple way that people have done for thousands of years\, we come together around the fire to enjoy music\, food\, drink\, and the company of others. \nFay Hield \nA singer seems to have been born knowing how to carry a tune but with the rarer gift of knowing how to go straight to the heart of a song.
