SUMMARY:Egg Day: How Fast Can You Eat A Pickled Egg?
DESCRIPTION:On Friday 18th April 2025\, The Cock Tavern in Hackney\, East London\, are holding their second annual Egg Day to find the fastest pickled egg eaters in the world with “How Fast Can You Eat A Pickled Egg?”. \nFor the last eight years the pub and more importantly the staff have become famous for keeping a scoreboard of the top 12 fastest pickled egg eaters in the world.  Luke ‘Pickle Boy’ Molloy and pub manager Eggy Joel\, hatched the ‘egg scene’ in 2016. Having become a bit of a tourist attraction\, social media has made it a hot spot amongst the pickled egg eating enthusiasts visiting London. Currently the top 12 scores are all two seconds or less\, it can be a bit intimidating for anyone wanting to see their name on the board. What makes Egg Day 2025 EGGstra special is now the board gets wiped clean\, a total reset. All that plus for one day only the board extends to Top 25. Everyone has the chance to be a recognised pickled egg eating hero. \nThe first annual Egg Day was on Good Friday 2024 and proved such a popular event\, smashing all previous bar sales and is expected to do so again with hundreds anticipated to attend including the return of 2024’s champions to defend their titles.

No worries\, we’ll have plenty to choose from\, like\, “When are you the happiest?” and\, “If you were going to become close friends with me\, what would I need to know about you?” We’ll give you ground rules to make sure you feel comfortable and safe sharing as much of yourself as possible while still feeling in complete control of how much you divulge.

SUMMARY:In A Field By A Bridge FESTIVAL
DESCRIPTION:A brand new and unique (free) London festival launches this July. \n\n\n\nSummer 2023 sees the launch of ‘In a Field by a Bridge’\, a weekend festival with a  unique backdrop. In a community park beside an international landmark\, this event inspires sustainable living and celebrates community action. \n\n\n\nFrom when the sun sits high over Tower Bridge until the last pink rays disappear behind London Bridge\, on grassy fields next to the Thames\, this free festival showcases the juxtaposition of incredible London landmarks alongside cityscape\, nature and one of the world’s great rivers. \n\n\n\nCelebrating everything that Potters Fields Park and the London Bridge neighbourhood have to offer; merging green spaces\, evocative history\, wonderful architecture\, a diverse residential community\, and thriving businesses – this is one of London’s most culturally innovative\, sustainable and exciting districts. In a Field by a Bridge is the first opportunity to showcase what London Bridge has to offer as a leading environmentally-focused business district\, highlighting the transition to a carbon-neutral economy\, low-impact living and healthy lifestyles. The impact of this festival on the local community is aimed to create positive social and economic longevity far beyond this launch weekend. \n\n\n\n“Great festivals have meaning and a purpose  and  a team that means it\, and if you can add an amazing location\, then BINGO!\, In a Field by a Bridge has the aim to be an exemplary sustainable festival and in Team London Bridge\, a festival funder that “means it”.  \n\n\n\nThe location is nothing short of spectacular. Potters Fields is a beautifully maintained public green space overlooking the Thames and with views to the adjacent Tower Bridge\, London Bridge\, and The Tower of London. Across Tooley Street\, the festival’s second green space  St. John’s Churchyard\, is a wonderful community park that will play host to the Beyond Food-led “Feast in a Field“ initiative\, where local “legends in their own kitchen” will allow Londoners and visitors from all around the UK and the world to get a taste of delicacies that thus far only their families have been able to enjoy. \n\n\n\nWe are aiming to make In a Field by a Bridge a  must-attend annual event.  I would ensure you can  say you were there at that first one in July 2023 !” \n\n\n\nWayne Hemingway\, HemingwayDesign \n\n\n\nThis free festival aims to enable and encourage education and action on greener living through creative programming. It’s jam-packed with an incredible showcase of live performances\, interactive workshops\, film screenings\, architectural tours\, activities for all the family\, and more. \n\n\n\nThe full programme coming soon\, but here’s a sneak peek for now…. \n\n\n\n\nKeith Brymer Jones and Clayground mass participatory clay workshop celebrating the history of pottery-making in the area\n\n\n\nSocial Enterprise Beyond Food Community Feast in a Field\n\n\n\nProgramme of workshops\, talks & walks curated by London National Park City and its network of park rangers\n\n\n\nTopical talks programme with headline panellists\n\n\n\nLocal businesses & resident involvement\n\n\n\nFilm screenings\n\n\n\nSuitcase Sale\n\n\n\nDesigners and makers market\n\n\n\nStreet food & drink\n\n\n\nWorkshops\n\n\n\nMusic & Entertainment on a pedal-powered stage.\n\n\n\n\n——————————– \n\n\n\nFor a number of years\, the London Bridge community has been addressing global problems with local commitments. Matching the ambition of Southwark Council and the Mayor of London\, local businesses have committed to a first-of-its-kind route map with the aim of becoming carbon neutral by 2030 and dramatically decreasing the 130\,000 tonnes of CO2e they produce annually – an output equivalent to powering 25\,295 homes a year. In a Field by a Bridge will highlight ways we can collectively and individually decarbonise and instil new ideas for low-carbon living into our daily routines.  \n\n\n\n“In a Field by a Bridge will mark the start of the summer for many of us. Alongside HemingwayDesign\, we have curated two days of riverside festivities for the curious\, creative and conscientious who just like to have a good time! Everything has been planned with sustainability in mind.  Come along and discover Feast in a Field – our community cookout\, experience making ceramics with Keith Brymer Jones of BBC2’s The Great Pottery Throw Down\, and find a pre-loved bargain at the massive suitcase sale along the Thames. We hope to see In a Field By a Bridge become a regular fixture on London’s cultural calendar for many years.”   \n\n\n\nEllie Beedham\, Director of Arts\, Team London Bridge \n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n“Access to green space and nature has never been more important to our busy urban lives. With our award-winning parks\, commitment to sustainability\, passion for our area and pride in our community\, we’re excited to host the first In a Field by a Bridge festival.  We can’t wait to share two days of fun and inspiring activities with visitors from around the world and the corner.” \n\n\n\nSheila Benjamin\, Chief Executive of Potters Fields Park Management Trust \n\n\n\n“I am pleased and excited to be involved in this community event ‘In a Field by a Bridge’. It brings together the history of Potters Field on the banks of the Thames in the heart of London whilst creating an event that is accessible to the local community and beyond. Bringing historic places back to life through creativity is arguably the best way to highlight our past and recognise its significance for future generations.“ \n\n\n\nKeith Brymer Jones\, ceramics and homeware designer.  \n\n\n\n“We’re incredibly excited to be curating the London National Park City Zone at the first ever In A Field By A Bridge festival this summer\, not least because it coincides with the 4th anniversary of London becoming the world’s first National Park City. There will be events and activities galore\, all celebrating urban nature and the outdoors\, and we can’t wait to see you all there.” \n\n\n\nMark Cridge\, Executive Director\, London National Park City \n\n\n\n“Beyond Food Foundation and Brigade Bar+Kitchen have been in The Fire Station on Tooley Street for over a decade. Brigade is a social enterprise restaurant that cooks with live fire and smokes produce on site. Beyond Food is a charity that has helped over 7000 individuals whose lives have unravelled to regain confidence and independence. We have also supported over 2000 people to gain professional skills\, which have taken many to work in the hospitality industry. We are delighted to be involved in the community-focused event ‘In a Field by a Bridge’\, helping us to support and engage in our local community\, placing a spotlight on the work of our charity.” \n\n\n\nJo Littman\, Beyond Food \n\n\n\n“It was an enticing invitation from Wayne Hemingway to work on this inaugural festival on the site of such rich ceramics history. The offer to develop a large-scale participatory installation to animate the space with members of the public\, many of whom have never touched clay before\, goes to the heart of Clayground Collective’s ethos to bring art practice through clay to all.” \n\n\n\nCo-Directors Duncan Hooson\, Claire West & Julia Rowntree\, Clayground Collective \n\n\n\nIn a Field by a Bridge is just a short walk from London Bridge Station and the Uber Boat by Thames Clippers river bus service and is set amid the attractions of the London Bridge area with its cafes\, restaurants and theatres.  \n\n\n\nI: @inafieldbyabridge \n\n\n\nT: @inafieldfest

DESCRIPTION:London’s Favourite Free Festival is back at Greenwich Peninsula\, with a line-up to entice the whole family. \n\n\n\nThe Urban Village Fete returns to Greenwich Peninsula for its 7th year with a cracking line-up of entertainment\, DJs\, workshops\, and talks – all for free! \n\n\n\nAlongside a packed programme of free entertainment throughout the day\, there’s a star-studded line-up of DJs keeping the party going\, with headline sets from Bradley Zero and other special guests taking over Central Park. After dark\, party-goers can head to Canteen for more drinks and dance on a heated indoor terrace. \n\n\n\nKicking off at 11 am\, there will be live performances\, arts and crafts\, food\, markets\, music and more\, with something for everyone to enjoy and get involved with throughout the day. Hosted in the heart of Greenwich Peninsula\, a riverside neighbourhood with art and culture embedded in its fabric\, the event attracts thousands of people from all over London for a free day out like no other in the capital.  \n\n\n\nDesign District will once again host Robert Elms in the Talks Tent to lead insightful conversations and spark debate across a range of topics from Sports to Sustainability. For those wanting to fill their bellies and brains\, Canteen Food Hall offers an eclectic mix of street food from 6 different vendors\, freshly shaken cocktails\, cold beer and plenty of fizzes to quench the thirst. The food quarter at the Fete extends beyond Canteen\, through the Bureau restaurant\, and along the park\, where hungry visitors can feast on homemade and locally sourced goodies from the likes of Cakehole and Pasta e Basta. \n\n\n\nFor those wanting to get their hands dirty\, this year’s programme of interactive workshops will not disappoint. From origami to knitting\, and even a canine circus\, big kids\, little kids and furry friends are all invited to get involved and bring the spirit of the Fete alive through participation and collaboration. \n\n\n\nLaura Flanagan\, Director at Knight Dragon\, says: ‘Hosting the Urban Village Fete is one of the highlights of our year\, with thousands of people enjoying our unique spaces across the Peninsula from Central Park to Design District. Art\, culture and creativity are embedded into the fabric of the place\, and the Fete gives us the opportunity to champion the best talent from across London and celebrate with our residents\, local community and visitors who travel from all over to experience a free\, fun-filled day out like no other.’ \n\n\n\n“It’s almost a decade since we started to develop the concept of a free multi-arts festival for London’s newest ‘urban village’. We had the simple premise of supersizing the concept of a much-loved village fete and placing all its parts\, from creative workshops to the music to the myriad of participatory activities\, the bars and street food\, all in the hands of the capital’s most creative practitioners. This year’s line-up is as good as you would get at many big ticket-priced events\, and it’s FREE and open to everyone. What is there not to like ?”  \n\n\n\nWayne Hemingway\, Hemingway Design \n\n\n\nHere’s a sneak peek at the line-up\, with more to come very soon! \n\n\n\nCONFIRMED PROGRAMME TO DATE: \n\n\n\n\nLive DJ sets throughout the day\, including headliners Bradley Zero (in back to back 3 hour set with a very special guest – soon to be announced!)\, Zakia and our Urban Village Fete Resident DJs\n\n\n\n‘Future Bubblers Takeover’ of the Design District stage featuring Tadi the Great\, Claudia\, Sticky Dub\, Nouria Bah & Plumm x skttrd\n\n\n\nCultural conversations hosted by BBC’s Robert Elms: Topical debates bringing together industry-leading names to cover topics such as:\n\n‘Sustainable City Futures’ \n\n\n\n‘Nurturing Culture in a Cost-of-Living Crisis’ \n\n\n\n‘Kicking off Change – Reclaiming the Beautiful Game ‘\n\n\n\n‘The Promise & Peril of Artificial Intelligence ‘\n\n\n\n\n\nWorkshops including:\n\n‘MadebyManos’ beautiful ceramic tile painting\n\n\n\nCreative botanical sessions with ‘Hackney Herbal’\n\n\n\n‘Fold Your City’ origami modelling\n\n\n\nColourful collage and ceramic repair workshops with Yodomo\n\n\n\nCircular-Crafts Workshop with Charlotte Kidger in the NOW Gallery\n\n\n\nInnovation Workshops with ‘Little Inventors’\n\n\n\nKokedama making with ‘Ivy and the Wolf’ (Japan’s answer to a hanging basket)\n\n\n\n‘Black Girl Knit Club’ will be hosting knit-your-own-jewellery sessions.\n\n\n\nGreenwich Peninsula Art Trail – explore the incredible art on show on the Peninsula\, from the latest arrival\, Damien Hirst\, to Studio Weave\, Allen Jones and more.\n\n\n\n\n\nFestival favourites Charity Shop DJ & Land of 1000 dances with Greenwich Dance will stop you in your tracks and make you want to move with their unique democratic dance vibe and renowned family dance sessions for all.\n\n\n\nPerformance and Interactive Play from The Merry Maker\, Jon Hicks & The Incredibly Clever Canine Circus (don’t forget to bring your dogs to get involved in this one!)\n\n\n\nFitness classes & workshops with Outrivals gym\n\n\n\nDesign District resident ‘The Photography Foundation’ will provide all free headshots! SUMMARY:Ghana Party in the Park
DESCRIPTION:The world is now coming to Africa!” proclaimed the Guardian in a recent article on the global popularity of Africa’s most exciting cultural export: Afrobeats. Beyond the music\, demand for African food is also skyrocketing worldwide. For those looking for an authentic African experience\, London’s Ghana Party in the Park Festival is just the ticket! Dance to afrobeats\, feast on traditional cuisines and admire spectacular Ghanaian costumes\, all for as little as £20! \n\n\n\nHeld in Enfield’s Trent Park\, the annual outdoor festival will be attended by a crowd of 10\,000\, making it the world’s biggest Ghanian event outside of Ghana\, attracting overseas visitors from Europe\, the USA\, Canada and of course\, Ghana itself. \n\n\n\nAfrobeats has become one of the most beloved music genres across the globe\, with artists such as US superstar Drake and British grime artist Dave featuring on chart-topping afrobeat anthems. Whilst organisers remain tight-lipped about this year’s music line-up until the official announcement in June\, the event guarantees big names and fresh sounds\, with Mr Eazi\, Tion Wayne\, and Chip having graced the Ghana Party in the Park stage in recent years. \n\n\n\nAnd\, of course\, no Ghanaian festival would be complete without food. Lots of it! From Jollof and suya to bofro and sobolo\, Ghana Party in the Park promises the very best in West African cuisine\, on top of which\, the UK’s leading World Food brand Tropical Sun will be sampling their delicious snacks and drinks at their stand. Our recommendation: Tropical Sun’s world-famous Coconut Peanuts\, which are quickly becoming one of the most popular snacks in West Africa! \n\n\n\nTickets are priced from £20 and are available from the usual outlets\, including Shoobs and Eventbrite. \n\n\n\nFor more information\, including line-up announcements\, visit the Ghana Party in the Park website – www.gpitp.com
