SUMMARY:Marmalade and Masquerades - Live Performance with Narration
DESCRIPTION:Marmalade and Masquerades \nAndré Caplet: Conte Fantastique (1922) after Edgar Allan Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death\, for harp\, narrator and string quartet. Story adapted by Erin Muldoon. \nHerbert Chappell: Paddington’s First Concert (mid-1970s)\, arranged for the same ensemble by Roger Montgomery. \nTravel from the familiar warmth of 32\, Windsor Gardens\, home to London’s favourite bear\, into the shadowy world of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death. This imaginative programme brings together two contrasting tales\, showing how music can express both light and dark\, comfort and mystery. \nThrough engaging live performance with narration\, children and families will discover how composers use sound to tell stories. Some feel cosy\, playful\, and curious. Others are dramatic\, eerie and full of suspense. Each invites listeners to picture characters\, places and emotions in their own way. \nOn one side\, Paddington Bear’s world is brought to life through music that celebrates kindness\, humour and small everyday adventures. On the other hand\, André Caplet’s Conte Fantastique draws us into a darker\, more mysterious atmosphere\, inspired by Poe’s haunting tale of Prince Prospero’s abbey. \nPlaced side by side\, these works reveal how music can spark imagination across very different moods and stories. Together\, they offer a rich and memorable introduction to the power of musical storytelling. \nTo Hire String Quartets  & Harpists in London for Private and Corporate Events\, visit Music for London.

SUMMARY:'Doodle on Our Noodles' - Free doodle fun for kids on London's South Bank
DESCRIPTION:Kids’ food brand Little Dish and world-famous doodle artist The Doodle Boy\, invites kids to ‘Doodle on our Noodles’ on Saturday 2nd May (10am-6pm)\nLittle Dish\, the UK’s favourite healthy\, fresh kids’ food brand\, is teaming up with British-born\, world‑famous\, young artist Joe Whale\, AKA The Doodle Boy\, to bring creativity\, flavour and fun to London’s South Bank this bank holiday (Saturday 2nd May\, 2026). \nTo celebrate the launch of its latest Little Dish recipe: Chicken Katsu Curry Noodles\, and its limited edition pack which has been designed by The Doodle Boy himself\, a giant billboard is being erected near The London Eye on London’s South Bank\, encouraging kids to unleash their inner artist and come and Doodle on our Noodles! \nThe giant 6m x 4m billboard ‘canvas’ will feature artwork designed by The Doodle Boy himself\, and children will be able to use the pens provided to add to their own creative doodles and add explosions of colour to The Doodle Boy’s own designs.  The free doodle-fest is the ultimate way for kids to go analogue this bank holiday weekend and get creative. \nAs well as doodling fun\, there will be entertainment for children and their families who visit the site\, including face painters. \nCommenting on the Little Dish Doodle on our Noodles campaign\, Joe Whale\, aka The Doodle Boy said: “Doodling is a no pressure\, freestyle way of expressing yourself that allows kids to be creative and put their ideas down on paper. We’re all born with an amazing imagination\, and doodling is a great way to tap into that.  I’m excited to be a part of the Little Dish Doodle on our Noodles campaign and designing the Katsu meal pack and the giant-size billboard is a bit of a pinch me moment!  I really can’t wait to see all the colourful creations from the children who take part.” \nHillary Graves\, Little Dish founder explains: “We wanted to create something exciting to delight kids and help fuel their imagination. We’re thrilled to be working with The Doodle Boy on our new Katsu Noodles pack design and the giant doodle-friendly billboard\, both of which are a great way to entertain the kids this bank holiday without resorting to screentime.” \nDate: Saturday 2nd May 2026 \nTime: 10am – 6pm \nLocation: The Queen’s Walk on the South Bank\, just north of the London Eye and next to Jubilee Gardens. What 3 Words:  ///heads.jeeps.gent (https://w3w.co/heads.jeeps.gent) \nCost: Free \nWhat to bring: Your imagination! \nWhat to expect: A chance for kids to let their imagination and creativity run wild and colour in their very own section of a huge billboard at one of London’s most epic locations. Plus…on the day prizes with a tombola\, free meal coupons and face painting. \n  \nA chance to win! \nIn addition to the giant billboard doodle activity for kids\, to celebrate the launch of its new Little Dish Katsu Noodles meal which arrives on supermarket shelves in mid-April\, Little Dish and The Doodle Boy are inviting children nationwide to ‘Doodle on our Noodles’ and transform the black and white pack into a colourful work of art. \nThe winning design will star on a giant billboard in the winner’s hometown\, and a gallery of doodletastic artwork will feature on The Doodle Boy and Little Dish social media channels. \nFamilies can find full entry details at littledish.co.uk

SUMMARY:The Friends of Holland Park Art Exhibition 2026
DESCRIPTION:This spring\, The Friends of Holland Park once again turns the Orangery at the heart of the park into an art gallery. \nFor more than forty years\, Friends who are artists and artists who become Friends have come together to show and sell their artwork. The colourful presentation of works by more than 80 predominantly local artists ranges from greeting cards and small prints to large paintings\, from pieces of jewellery to ceramics and sculpture \nA jury led by curator and artist Gordon French awards cash prizes for artistic excellence in several categories as well as for work that best expresses the Spirit of Holland Park. Visitors can support The Friends of Holland Park by buying a work from the exhibition or by entering the raffle for one of the tempting prizes donated by local businesses. \nEvery year\, one artist is offered a dedicated feature wall for a more extensive presentation. This year\, The Friends invited Gordon French to provide a mini-retrospective of his own creative practice to thank him and his family for organising the art exhibition for the past 12 years. \nThe concept of holding an art show at the heart of Holland Park was introduced by Christopher Wood and the late Sir Hugh Casson\, renowned architect and former President of the Royal Academy\, during their respective tenures as Chairman and President of the Friends of Holland Park. \nWorking in close liaison with the local borough and park staff\, The Friends of Holland Park is a local community group dedicated to the preservation\, protection and improvement of Holland Park as a place of historic and ecological interest and beauty. \nThe exhibition is sponsored by The Ilchester Estates\, which is fitting as the Ilchester family were the last private owners of Holland House.

SUMMARY:Tweed Run London - Saturday 18th April
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday 18 April 2026\, The Tweed Run returns to London\, transforming the city’s streets into a moving tableau of beautifully dressed cyclists\, rolling past some of the capital’s most recognisable landmarks. Hundreds of riders\, impeccably turned out\, come together for one of London’s most visually striking and culturally distinctive events. \nNow in its 18th year\, The Tweed Run is a celebration of modern nostalgia – an event that invites people to step away from screens\, slow the pace\, and reconnect through a shared experience. It blends heritage style with contemporary values\, championing slow fashion\, sustainability and the simple pleasure of riding together through the city. \nParticipants are encouraged to dress with creativity\, pairing tailoring\, texture and personal expression with the timeless form of the bicycle. Many riders take to the streets on beautifully built Pashley bicycles – the iconic British manufacturer celebrating its centenary year in 2026 – creating a fitting tribute to the enduring relationship between craftsmanship\, design and the joy of cycling. The result is a day that feels cinematic\, joyful and quietly rebellious – a reminder that style can be thoughtful\, and that community still matters. \nAt its heart\, The Tweed Run is about getting offline\, gathering together\, and creating something that feels both timeless and relevant – evoking the camaraderie of years gone by\, while reflecting modern attitudes towards fashion\, sustainability and how we choose to show up in the world.

SUMMARY:Lambslaughter
DESCRIPTION:“[Lambslaughter] captures the strange intensity of teenage consciousness with an honesty that feels almost documentary. It does not sentimentalise girlhood. It remembers it.” A Young(ish) Perspective \nFollowing a critically acclaimed\, sold-out run at Playhouse East\, the award-winning Lambslaughter lands at the King’s Head Theatre for one night only. \nSet in a Catholic girls’ school in Merseyside in 2013\, the play follows two sixth-formers\, Chloe and Jade\, and their increasingly blurred relationship with their English teacher\, Mr Barrett. In the absence of parental supervision and under the influence of social media—personified by the vitriolic\, anonymous Twitter account @OurLadyProbz—the girls navigate a world failing to care for them with razor-sharp wit that masks a growing desperation. \nLambslaughter is a searing\, unsettling exploration of girlhood\, power\, and survival at the dawn of the smartphone age. \n“The ensemble maintains a tone of startling realism throughout. The acting is extraordinary in its restraint and credibility.” A Young(ish) Perspective

SUMMARY:Nowruz Festival 2026
DESCRIPTION:Take part in our cultural and creative community events celebrating Persian New Year and the arrival of spring\, including exhibitions\, music\, family activities\, poetry\, a bazaar and more.\nOur Nowruz Festival is a community-wide creative celebration of Persian New Year and the arrival of spring\, a moment to come together\, share stories and find connection as the seasons turn. At a time when community can feel especially important\, we open our doors to everyone\, whether you observe Nowruz each year\, are discovering Persian culture\, holidays and traditions for the first time\, or just want to join in. \nEmbracing the arrival of spring\, Nowruz is a 14 day tradition enjoyed for more than 3\,000 years by over 300 million people worldwide\, particularly across Western Asia\, Central Asia\, the Caucasus\, the Black Sea Basin\, the Balkans\, and South Asia. Deeply rooted in Persian culture\, Nowruz is marked by renewal\, hope and time spent together with friends and family\, especially outdoors. The Nowruz festivities culminate after 13 days on Sizdeh Bedar\, also known as Nature’s Day\, during which people spend time picnicking outdoors to keep bad luck at bay. \nWaterlow Park\, with its secret enclaves\, ponds and myriad of trees (including a Persian Ironwood)\, brings to mind a Persian garden\, and has become an important and beautiful place for local families and friends to come together. For the third year\, we are bringing the festivities inside Lauderdale House under the guidance of our Artist/Curator Mehrdad Aref-Adib. Our Nowruz Festival focuses on celebrating the cultural traditions and artistic expression associated with the beginning of spring\, rather than religious or political themes\, so that all communities feel welcome. \nFind all the activities and dates below\, with more events coming soon. \n\n\n\n\nSpecial Events\n\nWednesday 11 March\n\nNowruz Private View & Festival Launch\n7.30-9.30pm | Free \nWe are delighted to welcome you to the private view of three unique exhibitions and the launch of our Nowruz Festival on Wednesday 11 March from 7.30 to 9.30pm. \nFind out more \nMonday 16 March\n\nString of Pearls Ensemble\n7.30pm | £15.50 \nString of Pearls Ensemble invite you to a magical evening of poetry\, stories and song woven together from the teachings of the 13th century poet Rumi. \nFind out more \n\nThursday 19 March\nJazz in the House: Maydan Ensemble\n8pm | £15.50 \nThe Maydan Ensemble traverses international bounds and genres to create a inclusive and irresistible sound blending modern jazz with Arabic\, Anatolian and Persian folk music. \nFind out more \n\nTuesday 24 March\n\nIran +100 Book Event\n8pm | £12 \nExplore how ten Iranian authors grapple with the past and imagine the future in Iran at this special talk. \nFind out more \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSaturday 14 March & Sunday 15 March\n\n  \nNowruz Bazaar\n11am – 5pm | Free \nDiscover the rich artistic heritage associated with the holiday at our Nowruz Bazaar\, featuring goodies\, beautiful artworks\, books\, pottery\, jewellery and more. \nFind out more \n  \nSaturday 14 March\nFree Talk – Nowruz: Customs & Camden \n12pm | Free – please book \nLearn more about the beautiful traditions associated with Persian New Year and how it is celebrated locally in this free talk \nFind out more \n  \nFree Talk – Past\, Present & Future: Arts of Iran at the V&A\nSaturday 14 March\n2pm | Free – please book \nThis free talk will explore the V&A’s rich and varied collection of objects from Iran – a collection which spans thousands of years in many different media and styles. \nFind out more \n  \nFree Talk – Shahnameh Reunited: Why Persian Stories Matter \nSaturday 14 March\n4pm | Free – please book \nIn this free talk\, hear from two great speakers\, Arsalan Akhavan and Nazli Tabatabai-Khatambakhsh\, about how they are reconceptualising the Iranian epic Shahnameh for contemporary audiences. \nFind out more \nSunday 15 March\n\nNowruz Family Day\n11am – 3pm | Free \nBring the whole family to our Long Gallery for free crafts inspired by Nowruz and Persian culture! \nFind out more \n\n\n\n\n\nOngoing Events\n\n\n11 March – 6 April\n\nEchoes in Print Exhibition\nLower Gallery\nCheck gallery hours | Free \nExperience contemporary print and image-making through the work of five UK-based Iranian artists. \nFind out more \n\n\n\nThe Boy on the Peacock Throne A Memoir in Images Exhibition\nUpper Gallery\nCheck gallery hours | Free \nThis exhibition is based on The Boy on the Peacock Throne\, an illustrated memoir by Mehrdad Aref-Adib about growing up in Iran before and after the 1979 Revolution. \nFind out more \n  \nHopscotch Exhibition\nCourtyard Gallery\nCheck gallery hours | Free \nWe are delighted to exhibit works by members of Hopscotch\, a London-based charity seeking to address racial and gender inequity and to empower women facing this injustice in a culturally sensitive way\, so they can be included and equal in society. \n  \nHaft-sin Trail\nWaterlow Park\nPark opening hours | Free \nHead into Waterlow Park and help us collect the ingredients for the Haft-Sin! \nFind out more \n  \nPersian Paradise Garden\nBrick Arch in Waterlow Park\nCheck park hours | Free \nSituated in the far corner of the Tea Lawn\, we have installed an artwork created by Mehrdad Aref-Adib\, Artist & Curator of Lauderdale House’s Nowruz Festival\, inspired by a 17th-century Persian artwork now found in The Metropolitan Museum of Art. \nFind out more
