SUMMARY:The Long Play Sessions : Stuart Braithwaite with Spaceships over Glasgow
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an intimate and electrifying evening with Stuart Braithwaite\, founding member of Mogwai\, as he discusses Spaceships Over Glasgow: Mogwai\, Mayhem and Misspent Youth — a raw\, funny and deeply honest memoir of music obsession\, life on the road\, and the strange magic of live sound. \nThis event forms part of The Long Play Sessions\, ICMP’s curated series celebrating artists and writers who shape how we experience and understand music culture. Each session explores the stories beneath the noise — where creativity\, identity and lived experience intersect — offering audiences a rare chance to engage directly with the people who make and document the music that defines generations. \nIn Spaceships Over Glasgow\, Braithwaite traces his journey from a music-obsessed childhood in Scotland to the global stages of one of the world’s most influential post‑rock bands. With warmth\, self‑deprecation and startling candour\, he recounts formative gigs\, life‑changing records\, chaotic tours and the friendships that sustained Mogwai through decades of relentless volume and evolution. \nSet against the backdrop of Glasgow’s fertile underground scene\, the book is both a love letter to live music and an unfiltered account of the realities of life in a band — the exhilaration\, exhaustion\, excess and uncertain balance between creativity and survival. From teenage discovery of Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine\, to tinnitus‑inducing shows and international acclaim\, Braithwaite captures what it means to build a life around sound. \nFar more than a rock memoir\, Spaceships Over Glasgow reflects on youth\, belonging\, and the ways music can serve as escape\, identity and salvation. It speaks to anyone who has ever stood in a crowd and felt their life rearranged by noise — or dreamed of stepping onto a stage and making that feeling happen for others. \nWhat to Expect \n\nAn intimate talk from Stuart\, exploring the stories\, memories and moments behind the book\nInsight into Mogwai’s journey\, Glasgow’s underground music culture\, and the realities of long‑term life in a band\nDiscussion of creativity\, obsession\, touring\, friendship and the sustaining power of loud music\nReflections on youth\, risk\, resilience and the transformative experience of live performance\nAudience Q&A\, offering the chance to engage directly with Braithwaite about writing\, music and Mogwai’s legacy\nBook signing — bring your copy or purchase one at the event\n\nWe look forward to welcoming you to The Long Play Sessions for a candid\, joyful and uncompromising evening celebrating music as a lifelong force — told by someone who has lived it\, loudly and without filter.

SUMMARY:Pup Play: A Queer Pseudo-Lecture (of sorts) - Baron's Court Theatre
DESCRIPTION:THE MULTI-AWARD-WINNING\, INTENSELY CONTROVERSIAL\, AND CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED COMEDY (of sorts) RETURNS TO BARON’S COURT THEATRE\nBaron’s Court often invites the world’s leading lecturers to give talks on the issues that matter. That’s why Professor Handler David is here to give a lecture on the kink of pup play and teach London how to turn their bitchboys into good boys. What begins as a traditional lecture quickly transcends labels through stand-up\, homonormative puppets\, punk music\, gay sex\, and multimedia visuals to become an emotionally provocative and boldly introspective reflection on queer identity. “Filled with Puppy Power” (Watermark News)\, Pup Play “has a heart the size of Clifford the Big Red Dog.” (Broadway World)Noah Alfred Pantano writes and stars. SUMMARY:Transit
DESCRIPTION:How do you pack a life into 23 kilograms? One item at a time. \nTransit is an award-winning\, genre-bending investigation of identity\, belonging and migration. Told through a series of vignettes utilising physical theatre\, multilingual performance\, poetry\, dance\, multimedia\, practical lights and music\, Transit delicately navigates the feeling of being ‘too foreign for here\, too foreign for home.’ \nFrom the endless cycle of unpacking and repacking to wondering when you can stop being considered ‘a foreigner’ to building community and hope amidst uncertainty\, this deeply human piece is a love letter to anyone who has ever moved away from home. \nBased on true stories gathered from migrants across the UK\, Transit asks: what does it mean to settle in the space between languages\, cultures and identities? \nAll performances of Transit are creatively captioned.

DESCRIPTION:After a sell-out Edinburgh debut\, Kate-Lois Elliott (British Writers’ Guild Award Nominee\, British Comedy Guide Awards\, Funny Women Content Creator Nominee\, The Times Best Jokes Of The Fringe) is back with a new show about modern monogamy\, fertility\, Gingham fetishes and how ‘the good old olden days’ weren’t even that good\, actually. \nPicking apart stories from history and her own life – from Queen Victoria’s alleged sex mania to the real origin of “the average Joe\,” to Elliott’s own deranged obsession with making it into the tabloids – expect trademark thought-provoking waffle\, impromptu showtunes and GCSE drama level special effects. \nThis is a show for anyone who’s ever wondered whether to lean in\, burn it all down\, or take up cross-stitch and see what happens. \nMusic by Katie Pritchard & Kate-Lois Elliott \n“Funny\, clever and sharply observed. SUMMARY:Fishwives
DESCRIPTION:Step right up for FISHWIVES—a riotous comedy cabaret that’s smutty\, feminist\, historical\, and dare we say\, hysterical. \nIf Chaucer had a potty-mouthed sister with a vendetta against the patriarchy\, this is the show she’d have made. Written in verse with the gleeful irreverence of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes\, Fishwives catapults the forgotten heroines of history onto centre stage—louder\, looser\, and far less ladylike than you remember. \nPenned and performed by seasoned comedy poet Abi Unwin-Smith (RCSSD)\, with a decade of live mischief under her belt\, this anarchic hour fuses poetry\, storytelling and movement with the high-energy chaos of vaudeville. Expect stripping suffragettes\, scandalous monarchs and the odd persecuted pudenda—no petticoat will be left unruffled. \nAfter a decade on the UK and Australian comedy and poetry circuits\, Fishwives now bursts forth as a full-throttle show: a bawdy mash-up of brains\, bosoms\, and belly laughs. In an age when women’s rights still hang precariously in the balance\, this show wields laughter as both weapon and salve. \nSo gird your loins\, ladies and gents. These lusty bawds have stories to tell—and it’s about bloody time we listened.

SUMMARY:British Youth Music Theatre - Frankenstein
DESCRIPTION:Fear spreads fast\, but judgment builds terrifying momentum. \nThis visceral new musical adaptation of Frankenstein rips into society’s gaze: how do we decide who is dangerous\, who is worthy\, and who is denied humanity altogether? Fast‑paced and drenched in tension\, it hurtles through a world where snap judgements turn lethal and rejection becomes a force of its own. \nPerformed by a ferocious cast of young performers\, this production never slows to catch its breath. Scenes snap by with cinematic intensity\, driven by an urgent\, propulsive score\, sharp jump scares and bold theatrical set pieces that keep audiences on edge. \nWritten by Victoria Gimby (Writer)\, Jimmy Jewell (Composer) and Nick Stimson (Lyricist)\, this adaptation exposes the violence of judgment itself. \nRelentless and unsettling\, Frankenstein is a gripping theatrical experience that leaves no room to look away.
