SUMMARY:Dolly’s Clinic | Coningsby Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Presented off-site by Mandy Zhang Art and guest curated by Joséphine May Bailey\, Dolly’s Clinic places Annie Trevorah’s enquiry into aesthetics\, bodily modification and the politics of appearance in context of medieval bestiaries and surrealist imaginations. \nReferencing the language and rituals of the contemporary beauty industry\, Trevorah introduces a meticulously realised aesthetics clinic for animals named after the first cloned mammal. A cast of six matte aluminium sculptures\, each enhanced with organic elements\, model a range of signature procedures\, complete with consultant’s notes and recovery plans. An interactive AR visualisation by multimedia artist Dr Blanca Regina invites viewers to join an exfoliated poodle’s celebration of its smooth new body. \nBeneath a playful and humorous surface\, the exhibition raises fundamental questions about humanity’s relationship with other species. With Dolly’s Clinic Annie Trevorah challenges the assumption that humans alone possess the authority to determine how other living beings should look\, function and evolve\, while exploring the contradictions between personal freedoms and external pressures. \nOpening Times \nWed\, 4th\, Thurs 5th\, Fri 6th\, / 10 am – 6pm / Sat\, 7th 11am – 6pm \nTues 10th\, Wed 12th\, Fri 13th / 10 am – 6pm / Sat\, 14th 11am – 6pm \nGallery closed / Sun\, 8th Nov & Mon\, 9th Nov

SUMMARY:Good Sex | Battersea Arts Centre
DESCRIPTION:How do you have sex on stage? How do you even have sex?\nTo try and find an answer\, each night\, two brand new performers tell a story of desire\, betrayal and loneliness. They have never rehearsed together or read the script. They are strangers. \nBut they are not alone – to help and guide them they are joined on stage by an Intimacy Director\, trained in the art of teaching people how to touch. So\, you can be rest assured that the sex will be safe. It will be consensual. And it will be good. \nSince its premiere at Dublin Theatre Festival in 2022\, Good Sex has toured across Europe and to New York\, and now makes it’s UK premiere. \nAcclaimed theatre makers Dead Centre\, with award-winning novelist and essayist Emilie Pine\, present a sublimely funny love story for a loveless age. \n\n“Raw\, unsettling\, seductive\, provocative and very\, very funny”\n★★★★★ Irish Times\n \n“Beguiling\, chaotic\, hilarious and profound… a brilliant\, vital piece of theatre”\n★★★★★ Irish Examiner \n  \nFor exact showtimes\, visit their website HERE

SUMMARY:Dünyada | The Space
DESCRIPTION:Dünyada (on earth) comes to The Space for three performances at Voila! Theatre Festival. Mehmet Ali Nuroğlu brings a stranger’s memories of home\, love and loss into an intimate\, darkly funny solo show\, reimagining Will Eno’s Title and Deed. First-time theatregoers are welcome. \n“I’m not from here.” \nA man arrives with a suitcase\, a camera\, and a voice that seems sad somehow. \nThis November\, internationally acclaimed actor and director Mehmet Ali Nuroğlu brings his visceral\, high-intensity solo performance Dünyada to Voila! Theatre Festival. Dünyada\, meaning “on earth”\, is a formally adventurous solo theatre that tears the fabric of one-person play through cinematic camera work\, visual extension and sound design. Reimagining Will Eno’s celebrated monologue Title and Deed\, the production offers an evocative exploration of alienation and belonging\, and an exitential exploration of love and death in a digital age. \nNuroğlu walking the thin line between the mundane duties of keeping things going and the emotional disorder of remembering (like all of us). In a raw\, technical struggle\, he manages lighting and soundscapes in real-time\, creating a parallax between his physical body and his digital ghost. \nIntimate\, funny\, unsettling\, and deeply\, deeply human. \nA salute to the progress in life\, to being here\, now\, right now. On stage.

SUMMARY:Legend of Kaliakra | Cockpit Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Inspired by the legend of forty maidens who chose death over slavery\, Legend of Kaliakra explores the hidden emotional lives of the women behind one of Bulgaria’s most enduring stories. Blending poetic text and music\, the production explores what remains unseen in history: the psychological and emotional worlds of the women behind the legend – their fears\, guilt\, love\, courage\, and confrontation with the oppressor. \nThrough four interconnected female perspectives\, the work reimagines a historical narrative as a story of choice\, dignity\, and freedom. Performed in Bulgarian with English subtitles. Elitsaa Yovcheva directed the play at the National Theatre and the Youth Theatre in Bulgaria. The show premiered in Sofia in 2023 and has since toured cities along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Making its London premiere at the VOILA! Festival\, Legend of Kaliakra invites UK audiences to encounter a powerful Bulgarian story through the shared language of theatre\, movement\, and music.

SUMMARY:Ballerinas
DESCRIPTION:“They have two faces. The smiling\, perfect one the audience sees. And then the dark one that emerges behind the curtain\, when the rehearsed smile falls and the face contorts into a grimace because they are choking…” \nPart memoir\, part reckoning\, Ballerinas is a raw\, darkly comic exploration of the elite ballet conservatory system and the feverish atmosphere of the 1990s. Adapted from her acclaimed autobiographical novel\, performer and director Miřenka Čechová traces the often brutal journey of young girls pursuing ballet dreams\, exposing a world shaped by discipline\, ambition and sacrifice. \nBlending movement\, theatre and personal testimony\, Čechová creates a deeply intimate work that lays bare both the physical demands and psychological cost of artistic training. Revisiting past traumas with unsparing honesty and self-deprecating humour\, Ballerinas becomes not only an examination of a toxic system\, but also a powerful search for identity\, resilience and catharsis. \nThe show will be performed in English.  \nMiřenka Čechová is a Czech author\, choreographer\, director and performer whose multidisciplinary practice spans theatre\, dance and documentary storytelling. A former classical ballet dancer and co-founder of the theatre companies Spitfire Company and Tantehorse\, she has built an international reputation for creating deeply personal\, socially engaged works that transform autobiography and real-life testimony into powerful physical theatre. Her acclaimed books and performances include Miss America and Ballerinas\, the latter receiving nominations for both the European Union Prize for Literature and the Theatre Newspaper Award. \nConcept\, Direction and Performance: Miřenka Čechová\nDramaturgy: Martina Kinská\nDirectorial Collaboration: Janka Ryšánek Schmidtová\nTheatrical Collaboration: Tereza Dočkalová\nSet Design: Petr Boháč\, Eva Matoušová\nMusic: Martin Tvrdý\nLive Music: Mary C\nLighting Design: Filip Horn\nAnimation: Linda Arbanová\nVideo: Tereza Vejvodová\nCostumes and Objects: Eva Matoušová\nProduced by: Spitfire Company \nWith the support of the City of Prague. \nThis event is part of the 30th Made in Prague Festival organised by Czech Centre London.
