DESCRIPTION:Led by Géza Starmüller\, this workshop takes a participatory artistic format\, fostering direct dialogue between artists and audiences. Participants are encouraged to engage in shared creative processes and moderated discussions\, exploring themes of philosophy\, history\, and contemporary art. The programme moves beyond traditional presentation models\, emphasising collaboration\, critical thinking\, and collective reflection in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. \nThe guided tour offers an open platform where artistic practice and intellectual exchange meet in a live\, communal\, and warm setting. \n\n\nGéza Starmüller (b. 1966\, Cluj) is a contemporary visual artist and sculptor based in Transylvania. The fourth generation of artists in his family\, his practice is rooted in a lifelong engagement with art\, supported by both family heritage and formal training. He studied sculpture at the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca and further developed his practice through private mentorships and international art camps. \nWorking primarily with conceptual and spiritual foundations\, his artistic language unfolds through oil painting and bronze sculpture\, and more occasionally through stone and wood. His work explores the moment when spirit penetrates matter\, an approach he defines as cosmic surrealism. Influenced by philosophy\, diverse cultures\, personal life experience\, and place\, his creative process often begins with an intuitive vision that matures over the years into its final form. \nStarmüller has participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions and has contributed to major public art projects\, including the restoration of the Statue of Liberty in Arad\, as well as other monuments in Romania and abroad.

DESCRIPTION:In this calm and welcoming session led by The View from Here exhibition artist Maliheh Zafarnezhad\, young people with additional needs are invited to explore Leighton House through touch\, colour\, and imagination. \nUsing a curated selection of images – historic photographs\, decorative tiles\, and objects from the museum – participants will learn simple image-transfer techniques to create their own mixed-media artworks using drawing\, collage\, and pattern play. \nThis workshop emphasises sensory engagement: textured papers\, tactile surfaces\, soft tools\, and gentle materials will help artists explore art making in a way that feels accessible and enjoyable. \nAn accompanying adult is advised\, and the atmosphere will be supportive\, flexible\, and paced to individual needs. No previous art experience is required\, just curiosity and creativity. \nUseful information: \n·       This is a workshop suitable for young people aged 11-16yrs\, an accompanying adult is advised. \n·       All workshops take place in the Learning Centre at Leighton House. \n·       All materials are provided. \n·       Entry to the museum and exhibitions is included for young people joining the workshop\, and their accompanying adult \n  \nMeet Maliheh Zafarnezhad \nMaliheh Zafarnezhad is an Irish-Iranian artist and educator whose work explores themes of identity\, memory\, and cultural hybridity. Based between London and Milton Keynes\, she draws on her experience as an Iranian-born artist living in the diaspora to create evocative\, multi-layered visual narratives. Maliheh holds an MA in History of Art from the University of Limerick\, Ireland\, and a B.Sc. in Geology from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad\, Iran. Her cross-disciplinary background informs a unique artistic approach that blends research\, visual storytelling\, and cultural reflection. Working primarily with photography\, she reimagines old photographs by incorporating collage\, painting\, found objects\, and stylistic elements inspired by Persian miniatures. SUMMARY:REUNION 79:21 - Revisiting Black Queer London Clubland
DESCRIPTION:For a short run of five days\, queer club culture returns to Soho with an archival exhibition exploring over four decades of Black queer nightlife and community in London. \n  \nWhereas focus is often placed on the white gay scene\, this exhibition showcases the history of Black queer club culture from the late 1970s to the present by documenting lived experience\, collective memory and self-representation through previously unpublished images and memorabilia sourced from public and private archives. \n  \nIn the 1980s\, Black queer and trans people in the UK began to attend underground parties as sanctuaries from discrimination\, creating community through music and dance. Inspired by the queer collectives in Chicago and Detroit\, the London nightlife scene combined US musical forms with home grown genres. \n  \nBrothers Steve and Dave Swindell were at the heart of London clubland\, Steve running successful nights like ‘The Lift’ and ‘Jungle’ with Dave documenting the emergence of Black queer visibility. His intimate imagery is shown alongside Jason Manning’s photographs taken in the bolder years that followed. \n  \nREUNION 79:21 is complemented by a programme of films and talks that expand on themes of kinship and shared belonging\, HIV and early LGBTQ activism\, and the fight for individual sovereignty at a critical time in the UK.
