SUMMARY:Plant Gazing: Under Waxing Crescent Moon with artist Joseph Walsh
DESCRIPTION:As we approach July’s full moon\, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to connect with plant allies and set personal intentions for the days ahead. \nIn alchemy\, the art of drawing plants holds a twofold significance. On one level it represents the material aspect of the alchemical process\, of sunlight and water becoming stem\, leaf and flower. On a deeper symbolic level\, the depiction of plants embodies the concept of growth and transformation\, informing the practitioner – an alchemical self. \nImmerse yourself in the IMT Gallery space\, subtly infused with frankincense – woody\, fresh and up-lifting. A curated selection of plants will be available for drawing\, accompanied by prompts and guidance on the techniques of plant gazing and observation. \nIn this two hour workshop we will explore the mysteries of plants through drawing\, painting\, and meditative observations\, we will go beyond the confines of the ordinary. We’ll take a moment to reconnect to our bodies and the living world through a serene Rose tea ceremony\, grounding ourselves in the present moment. We will consider rose energy* \nAbout Joseph Walsh \nJoseph Walsh\, an artist rooted in forging human-nature connections through his work with plants. Using drawing\, painting and film to actualise a co-existing with nature. He studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths University\, and recently delivered the course Floral Time: How Artists Describe Plants at the Berlin Art Institute\, workshops at Beaconsfield Gallery and the Jamyang Buddhist Centre\, as well as sharing insights with art students at Goldsmiths and Reading University. \nWhat To Expect \nBelow we offer you a glimpse of what to expect from Joseph’s workshop\, as told by previous participants: \n“The workshop was well structured\, and thus we were able to connect with the plant on a deeper level. Joe is a meticulous facilitator. Thank you”. \n“A very naturally held space offering freedom to be intuitive\, and be yourself. The time flowed perfectly. An exploration and very close look into the oneness\, mirroring thoughts within the group. What a full whole\, rich experience with the plants\, yourself and each other.” \n*Observations made by Joseph\, with rose – “In alchemy the rose is symbolic of conjunction\, it is supporting and underlying the marriage of opposites. Soft\, buffering\, slowing down. Small insects dwell within petals\, cushioned\, intoxicated. This is how it felt for me too. The bee moves closer to the centre\, three rounds of rose tea. Perfumed aroma in swirls and spirals\, circular time. Definition and edge dissolved. Petals unfurling. Surrender myself to it. Rose is associated with love and romance.”\nThis workshop is designed for individuals who seek to deepen their connection with nature and explore their creative potential. No prior experience is required – just an open heart and a curious mind. While drawing materials will be provided\, feel free to bring your own sketchbooks and preferred materials to enhance your experience. \nReserve your spot now for an evening of inspiration and connection. A limited number of tickets are available free of charge to residents of Tower Hamlets. These places have been lovingly created with support from Tower Hamlets Council.

SUMMARY:Possible Impossibilities
DESCRIPTION:Possible Impossibilities is a collaborative exhibition by German mixed media artist Hanna ten Doornkaat and Dutch photographer Shiba Huizer. With their artistic styles diverging significantly\, their collaboration illustrates the aphorism ‘opposites attract’. \nThe exhibition echoes Aristotle’s belief in the probability of impossibilities by emphasising their allure\, and by embracing the concept of likely impossibilities over improbable possibilities. \nHanna ten Doornkaat’s recent works are an exploration of unfamiliar territory\, blending the clean process of minimalism with more organic elements. She is interested in the gap between idea and reality. Her aim is to minimise emotional gestures and to reject anonymous perfection in favour of preserving her unique imprint. \nShiba Huizer is an intuitive photographer who uses subcultural references inspired by her family history in 1960s Curaçao to create a new vision of male beauty and Dutch colonial history. \nAs Huizer continues to navigate the dynamic landscape of photography\, her journey is characterised by a dedication to celebrating diversity\, challenging conventions\, and exploring the fluidity of gender and identity through her lens. \nHuizer attended the Rietveld Academie\, Amsterdam\, where she studied art and design but eventually graduated with a degree in photography. She has seven years’ experience teaching photography and digital media at the University of Amsterdam. She has exhibited widely in art galleries throughout the Netherlands\, with assignments ranging from fine art portraits to fashion editorials for a number of magazines. \nIn 2008 she moved to London to study fashion photography at the London College of Fashion (LCF). She was awarded an MA (distinction)\, and in 2011 received the MA Fashion Design and Technology Award in Media. \nPossible Impossibilities is part of a series of exhibitions hosted by White Noise Projects\, a group of emerging and mid-career artists who showcase meticulously chosen artworks through a series of group and solo exhibitions. \nEstablished in 2017 by mixed media artist Hanna ten Doornkaat and painter Annamarie Dzendrowskyj the collective curates exhibitions centred around themes pertinent to contemporary artistic practice\, and in response to exhibition spaces that surpass the idea of the white cube. \nPossible Impossibilities runs concurrently with Chromatic Journey\, a solo exhibition by Jennifer Talbot.

SUMMARY:Chromatic Journey
DESCRIPTION:Jennifer Talbot’s practise explores the parallel between the gestural energy of the Abstract Expressionist movement and the figural drama of the Baroque and mannerist period of the 15/16th century. She seeks to achieve this through interrupting the spontaneous application of the gesture by isolating it through digital interface and choreographing the composition. Importantly the energy in the gesture is retained but the spontaneity is replaced by a narrative dynamism created through considered choreography. \nWithin the paintings\, in particular of the mannerist period\, are geometric structural elements. These work to create tension and pictorial space in relation to the sensuous figures and fabrics. In her practise Jennifer references the structure by installing the work directly on the wall utilising the architectural aspects of the gallery to define the scale of the work. In some pieces edges of the wall are referenced within the composition to create tension within gestural composition. \nColour in the mannerist paintings was often bizarre\, jewel-like and high-key. Jennifer is seeking to deepen her engagement with this period by codifying the colours and using them as inspiration. Painters of this period embraced emerging technologies and colours\, an ambition she hopes to recreate in her current practise. \nChromatic Journey is part of a series of exhibitions hosted by White Noise Projects\, a group of emerging and mid-career artists who showcase meticulously chosen artworks through a series of group and solo exhibitions. \nChromatic Journey runs concurrently with Possible Impossibilities\, a collaborative exhibition by Hanna ten Doornkaat and Shiba Huizer.

SUMMARY:Soyoung Hyun | Invitation To A Ritual
DESCRIPTION:IMT Gallery is proud to present the first UK solo exhibition of Paris-based artist Soyoung Hyun. Invitation To A Ritual features two interconnected bodies of work: Purification box and Shadow. These works delve into themes of memory\, transformation\, and the delicate boundary between presence and absence. Hyun draws on personal and cultural rituals as pathways to emotional healing. Her ceramic pieces oscillate between functional objects and sculptural forms\, blurring traditional boundaries and inviting viewers into an introspective experience. \nHyun’s Purification box series is a collection of clay vessels adorned with volcanic stones from Mount Etna. Each serving as a repository for negative thoughts or experiences—such as traumas\, obsessions\, or unwanted habits—that the individual seeks to distance from and transform. Drawing inspiration from personal and cultural rituals\, these boxes provide a physical space to externalise and reinterpret these memories\, facilitating a process of emotional cleansing. Through this series\, Hyun examines how art can serve as a bridge between the tangible and intangible\, guiding individuals toward healing and renewal. \nShadow series captures the ephemeral nature of shadows\, sculpting them into ceramic forms that represent the silhouettes of vases and flowers. This series delves into the duality of permanence and impermanence\, contrasting the solid\, tactile nature of ceramics with the fleeting\, intangible qualities of a shadow. Drawing on Korean folklore\, where a shadow is seen as evidence of life\, Hyun’s shadow works embody a paradox: they are tangible representations of something inherently immaterial\, symbolising life and presence despite their lack of a fixed form. Through this\, the Shadow series explores themes of existence\, memory\, and the delicate boundary between life and illusion. \nSoyoung Hyun is a Korean-born\, Paris-based artist known for her handcrafted ceramics that explore the perpetual transformation of organic textures and natural forms. Hyun’s practice embraces raw gestures and repetitive processes\, reflecting on the harmony and tension between nature’s impermanence and the permanence of human touch. \nHyun studied fine Art at the University of Paris 8 and Hongik University in Seoul. She has exhibited internationally in Paris\, Copenhagen\, Ghent and Shanghai. Recent exhibitions include Un livre est comme un jardin que l’on porte dans sa poche (A book is like a garden that you carry in your pocket)\, Yvon Lambert\, Paris (2025); Soleil Mauve (Purple Sun)\, Réfectoire des Nonnes\, ENSBA\, Lyon (2024); Dropping\, LMDS\, Shanghai (2023) and Impossible objects – Tell me i Exist\, K41\, Copenhagen (2023). In 2024\, Hyun was invited to lead a workshop at Lafayette Anticipations in Paris\, and presented an artistic protocol and conducted workshops as part of an exhibition at FRAC Île-de-France in connection with Warm Blooded and Earthbound by Eglé Budvytyté. \nCoinciding with Invitation To A Ritual\, IMT Gallery is excited to participate in this year’s London Gallery Weekend from 6 – 8 June. To celebrate our 20th anniversary\, we are launching a new apparel label featuring wearable artworks. Join us for the launch event on Saturday 7 June from 7–10pm.

SUMMARY:MISTER CLAY – LET’S COME TOGETHER - Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition Let’s Come Together by Mister Clay transforms the spaces of our Notting Hill gallery into an explosion of color and energy. Born from the fusion of New York–style wild writing and Italian creativity\, Mister Clay’s project focuses on his iconic “the Allucinati” (the Allucinated): essential\, vibrant figures that animate city walls and canvases with a message both simple and powerful. Unbound by banners or ideologies\, the Allucinati bring joy\, love\, and hope to those who feel marginalized\, igniting small “gentle revolutions” in a world that can sometimes stifle the imagination.\nWith Let’s Come Together\, Mister Clay reminds us that street art is\, above all\, a universal language capable of speaking to the heart before the eyes. We look forward to welcoming you into this universe of empathy and creativity\, where color becomes a vehicle of joy and hope.

SUMMARY:Selected 15 at Somerset House - A screening of bold new artists’ moving image works from across the UK
DESCRIPTION:Selected 15 showcases a vibrant collection of new short films by some of the most exciting early-career artists working today\, nominated by the shortlisted artists of the Film London Jarman Award 2024. This compelling programme\, curated by videoclub and Film London Artists’ Moving Image Network (FLAMIN)\, tours leading arts venues across the UK. For over a decade\, Selected has offered a unique platform for discovering emerging talent\, with a focus on artists pushing the boundaries of what moving image can be. \nFrom a speculative oil rig ritual in the Scottish Highlands to the sonic echoes of South London’s buried waterways; from the intimate retelling of a mother-daughter memory to digital hauntings of racialised surveillance – this year’s works explore ecology\, mythology\, history\, and identity through experimental\, personal\, and poetic lenses. \nThe artists in this year’s programme are: Fergus Carmichael\, Jazmin Morris\, Kadeem Oak\, Liberty Smith\, Nia Fekri\, Niki Kohandel\, Samara Addai\, and Teef Chan. Expect a rich mix of storytelling and experimentation – intimate\, defiant\, and dazzling in scope. \nSelected 15 will be screened in London this year at Somerset House\, on Friday\, 13 June (430-830pm) and Saturday\, 14 June (2-7pm) on a rolling programme in The Pits. SUMMARY:Particle Zoo
DESCRIPTION:With Particle Zoo Sandra Beccarelli blurs the lines between exhibition and artist residency by showing a finished body of work alongside work in progress\, with visitors playing an active role in determining the direction of the latter. \nOver the course of four weeks\, Beccarelli will occupy the gallery’s upper space and provide visitors an opportunity to gain an insight into her creative process. \nBorrowing the title from a physics term used to describe the wide variety of subatomic particles that make up the universe\, her paintings are inspired by notions of change\, impermanence and transformation expressed through a process that allows for boundless possibilities. \nLed by the physicality of painting and the inherent characteristics of materials\, compositions evolve through a process of application and erasure\, hiding and revealing\, often covering both sides of the canvas. \nParticle Zoo is the first in a series of exhibitions hosted by White Noise Projects at One Paved Court.

SUMMARY:Emanuele Sari - Storytelling - Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Cris Contini Contemporary is proud to present Storytelling\, a solo exhibition by Italian artist Emanuele Sari\, hosted at our London gallery in Notting Hill. The exhibition runs from 12 May to 8 June 2025 and forms part of the official programme of London Craft Week 2025.\nWith a unique artistic voice\, Emanuele Sari merges the rich Italian tradition of mosaic art with a bold\, contemporary visual language inspired by pop art and street art. His vibrant works\, crafted with Venetian glass\, smalti\, marble\, and shimmering gold\, silver\, and copper accents\, depict iconic characters from comic books and the world of entertainment — from Lupin to Joker\, Klimt to Modigliani\, David Bowie to Freddie Mercury.\nBlending playfulness with depth\, Sari transforms an ancient craft into a dynamic medium for exploring today’s cultural landscape. His mosaics\, while visually striking and ironic\, offer layered interpretations and invite reflection on the contradictions of modern society.\nEach piece becomes a bridge between past and present\, between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary creativity.\n\nSolo exhibition by Emanuele Sari\n\nCris Contini Contemporary  \n\n1 Lonsdale Road\, Notting Hill\, W11 2BY\, London\n\n12 May – 8 June 2025 \nIn partnership with London Craft Week (12–18 May)

SUMMARY:Plant Gazing: Under Saille Moon Workshop with Joseph Walsh
DESCRIPTION:Connect with Earth’s plant allies through drawing\, painting and tea ceremony… \nThe moon in Sagittarius is an ideal moment to receive knowledge from other kinds of consciousness. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to connect with plant allies and set personal intentions for the month ahead. \nIn alchemy\, the art of drawing plants holds a twofold significance. On one level\, it represents the material aspect of the alchemical process of sunlight and water becoming stem\, leaf and flower. On a deeper symbolic level\, the depiction of plants embodies the concept of growth and transformation\, informing the practitioner – an alchemical self* \nImmerse yourself in the IMT Gallery space\, subtly smudged with mugwort to encourage chi flow. A curated selection of plants will be available for drawing\, accompanied by prompts and guidance on plant gazing and observation techniques. \nIn this two-hour workshop\, we will explore the mysteries of plants through drawing\, painting\, and meditative observations\, going beyond the confines of the ordinary. \nWe reconnect to our bodies and the living world through a serene tea ceremony\, grounding ourselves in the present moment. We will look at Ground Ivy\, which is aromatic\, clearing\, and warming. \nJoseph Walsh is an artist rooted in forging human-nature connections through his work with plants. Using drawing\, painting and film to actualise a co-existing with nature. He studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths University and recently delivered Floral Time: How Artists Describe Plants at the Berlin Art Institute\, workshops at Beaconsfield Gallery and No Show Space\, and shared insights with art students at Goldsmiths and Reading University. \nWhat To Expect \nBelow\, we offer you a glimpse of what to expect from Joseph’s workshop\, as told by previous participants: \n“The workshop was well structured\, and thus\, we connected with the plant on a deeper level. Joe is a meticulous facilitator. Thank you”. \n“A naturally held space offers freedom to be intuitive and be yourself. The time flowed perfectly. An exploration and very close look into the oneness\, mirroring thoughts within the group. What a rich experience with the plants\, yourself and each other.” \nPlease bring your preferred drawing materials and sketchbook; materials will also be provided. \n*In Permaculture\, ‘guilds ‘ are the names for a collective of plants\, each contributing to the ecology. Like a loungey spread\, Ground Ivy is ground cover at woodland edges and shady wasteland\, creeping along the earth\, a veneer for dank and damp domains.\nIt is connected to witchcraft\, as it was said to drive off other flora. But that is not what I notice. It occupies gaps and crevices as if palming or sealing them\, and other plants grow in this situation. ’ Cat foot‘ is another name. \nIn the doctrine of signatures\, where the herb looks like what it cures\, its toothed curvy leaves resemble human ears and appealing sound waves; it is medicine for tinnitus and earache. \n🎟️ Reserve your spot now for an evening of inspiration and connection. A limited number of tickets are available free of charge for residents of Tower Hamlets. These places have been lovingly created with support from Tower Hamlets Council. \nSee you there!

SUMMARY:Read-Only Memory\, Pop-Up Video Installation by Lina A.
DESCRIPTION:Site-specific pop-up video installation by multidisciplinary artist Lina A.\n\nRead-Only Memory is Lina A.’s newest inquiry into the vulnerability and persistence of both personal and collective memories\, building upon the concepts of her 2024 solo show\, RAM. This immersive\, multi-channel video installation presents the viewer with a dizzying\, anarchic flow of fragmented imagery—lost\, found\, recovered\, personal\, and impersonal. Images bleed and writhe through stacked projections\, and an erratic soundscape enhances the feeling of disorientation and familiarity at the same time. The randomization of sequence interferes with linear narrative\, recalling the instability of memory and how memory decays\, overlaps\, and reforms. In Read-Only Memory\, Lina A. further explores the tension between preservation and loss\, the question of what remains archived and what is permanently lost to digital decay.

SUMMARY:UNTETHERED\, Alexis Walters at Cris Contini Contemporary - Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of the month dedicated to women\, Cris Contini Contemporary is proud to present UNTETHERED\, a solo exhibition by artist Alexis Walters that explores the themes of memory\, identity\, and transformation.\n\nUNTETHERED is an intimate journey towards reconciling with one’s inner child\, a path that brings to light a creativity that had been suspended. Through suspended garments\, the artist evokes memory and its power to transform the past into something new. Each work originates from a process of metamorphosis: the past is not merely preserved but reworked\, infusing it with new energy and meaning.\nThe deep blue of the cyanotype on Arches paper envelops the works in an ethereal atmosphere where time seems suspended. The contrast between blue and white becomes a powerful metaphor for transformation\, balance between presence and absence\, memory and renewal. With its contact impression and light development\, the cyanotype process strengthens the connection between image and memory\, capturing traces that resurface with delicacy and intensity.\nUNTETHERED  is an invitation for reflection\, a bridge between past and present\, between what we have been and what we could become. This exhibition explores the theme of loss while also celebrating the power of transformation and renewal—resonating deeply with the spirit of March\, traditionally dedicated to women.\n\nThe exhibition will be open from March 14th to 29th\, 2025\, at Cris Contini Contemporary. It offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in an artistic experience that invites self-discovery through art.\n\n\n14 – 29 March 2025 \nCris Contini Contemporary\n1 Lonsdale Road\, W11 2BY London\nOpening Hours: Tue-Sat 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

SUMMARY:David Burrows | Spooky Affects At A Distance
DESCRIPTION:IMT Gallery proudly presents Spooky Affects At A Distance\, a solo exhibition by David Burrows. Through fictional means\, the exhibition engages with contemporary politics and cultures and their aesthetics of appearance\, proposing a cosmopolitics modelled on the mysterious nature of black holes and derived from dreams\, mythology\, and Black Hole Ontology (being not as things appear). Featuring paintings\, drawings\, film\, and assemblages\, the exhibition draws on the concept of singularities\, their abstractive and transformative dynamics\, and their durations ruled by collapse and rejuvenation.

SUMMARY:Franciszka Themerson: Stories from the Life - Early Paintings and Drawings from Warsaw and London
DESCRIPTION:The Ben Uri Research Unit (BURU) is happy to present Franciszka Themerson’s Stories from the Life. The exhibition includes paintings and drawings from her student days at the School of Fine Art in Warsaw and some of her later works in London. Most of them have never been exhibited in England. Of the early works made in Poland\, three paintings and 19 drawings were made between 1929 and 1933\, which will be shown in the main gallery. When the exhibition ends\, they will be donated to the National Museum in Warsaw. \nThe lower galleries will include works from the 1940s when Franciszka began experimenting with abstract forms and bright colours. \nEven though Franciszka Themerson illustrated and designed books\, was director of Gaberbocchus Press\, made films with her husband Stefan Themerson\, designed for the theatre\, she was primarily a painter. Her paintings developed from the very tightly crafted\, densely coloured scenes of events within interiors of the earliest works\, to later images whose meaning could be read in several different ways. The comparison is both puzzling and intriguing. \nThe exhibition is accompanied by a small catalogue of the early works\, edited by Jasia Reichardt and designed by Pedro Cid Proença.

SUMMARY:UPCYCLE - from packaging to art
DESCRIPTION:Upcycle is an exhibition that explores the value assigned to materials in contemporary society. Eight artists show work of\, from and with the layers of packaging usually discarded once they have disgorged their content. \nIn Sam Hodge’s and Marisa Culatto’s work\, packaging becomes the medium\, while Susan Collis and Russell Herron make throwaway materials their lead subject; Gavin Turk and Leo Fitzmaurice turn spent vessels into artefacts. Shane Bradford’s paintings bear titles inspired by overpromising sales slogans\, whereas Sarah Pettitt’s abstract constructions are reminders of what is missing. \nPresented together they become a playful response to mass production and consumerism\, evidence of which abounds at the exhibition’s location in Central London.
