SUMMARY:Past and Present Tense
DESCRIPTION:“He who controls the present\, controls the past. He who controls the past\, controls the future.”\nGeorge Orwell \nArt invites us to take a fresh look at historic moments\, inspires reflections on our role in the world as well as contemplation’s on what is yet to come. \nThis exhibition brings together artists working across a breadth of disciplines and materials who apply the theme of past and present tense to ideas of time and place\, change and decay\, nostalgia and hope. \nWhether informed by personal experience\, directly responding to the memories held within the venue’s ancient walls\, or following more abstract concepts\, the works on show provide an interpretation of the world around us\, framed by the artists’ imagination. \nAn invitation to take a break from out of control news and political realities.

SUMMARY:Sharon Drew – Immersion
DESCRIPTION:Sharon Drew has been invited to exhibit her abstract paintings at William Road Gallery. By recreating the sensation of light\, colour\, rhythm and movement Drew finds in landscape\, her work brings a visceral element to the gallery setting. \nThis new series includes large-scale paintings and captures the essence of visits to urban and coastal shorelines. Building up opaque and translucent layers with repetitive and rhythmic gestures she emulates the constant fluctuations of nature. \nIn contrast to the measured and calculated methods of the architects whose practice houses the gallery\, Drew’s works result from a process of only just controlling the paint\, of letting the material lead the way. The desire is to be spontaneous and completely in the moment\, and to share this sense of immersion with the viewer. \n  \nMondays-Fridays

SUMMARY:Moniker Art Fair
DESCRIPTION:Moniker Art Fair has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting contemporary art fairs with its roots embedded in urban culture. \nThis October\, Moniker brings its acclaimed event format to Chelsea\, which has for 9 years attracted contemporary art collectors in their thousands to East London. Moving from Shoreditch to Chelsea marks a year of radical change\, as Moniker continues to push the narrative of urban art\, and its role on the London art scene\, Moniker’s reinvention in Chelsea will pioneer its future-forward outlook. \nOver the past decade\, the fair has embraced risks and it seeks to prove how powerfully the immersive and experiential fair format can stimulate audiences and win over the next generation of contemporary collectors. As much a festival as an art fair\, Moniker has evolved since its East London foundation and the scene’s inevitable global transience means it can embrace its transient roots as it relocates. \nThe five day arts festival will include a daily talks and film programme hosted by The Art Conference\, Live Dj’s\, art workshops\, immersive experiences and a selection of food and beverages. \nOPENING TIMES:\n–\nVIP + COLLECTORS OPENING: Wednesday 2 October | 3pm – 10pm\nPUBLIC PREVIEW: Thursday 3 October | 3pm – 10pm\nHosted by Creative Debuts\nPUBLIC FAIR DAYS\nFriday 4 October | 1pm – 9pm\nSaturday 5 October | 11am – 8pm\nSunday 6 October | 11am – 6pm

SUMMARY:Comic Tendencies
DESCRIPTION:Eve Leibe Gallery is pleased to present ‘Comic Tendencies’\, a group featuring for the rst time in London\, Samantha Rosenwald\, Oda Iselin Sønderland and Maurizio Bongiovanni. e works in the exhibition challenge the social expectations of feminine-masculing behaviours\, defying rigid gender categories in an amusing light. \nAppearing for centuries in magazines\, newspapers and underground publications\, comics illustrate cartoons\, but also politics\, popular culture\, propaganda and subversion. While the bright colours\, curved gures and storyboard format speaks to children\, throughout history they have had the power to challenge the status quo\, with its cartoon-like format providing the opportunity to critique and subvert reality. \nText by Lizzy Vartanian Collier \nPrivate view: Wednesday\, 9th October 5.00 pm- 8.00 pm\nAt: 30 Elizabeth Street London\, Belgravia\, SW1W 9RB \nJoin us for the gallery tour with Lizzy Vartanian Collier on Saturday\, 12th October 3.00 pm – 4.00 pm
