SUMMARY:IMTwentyOne –
Exhibition + Online Auction
DESCRIPTION:IMTwentyOne marks IMT Gallery’s 21st anniversary with a benefit exhibition and online auction\, bringing together over 100 unique works by emerging to established artists such as Amanda Beech\, Adam Chodzko\, Benedict Drew\, Soyoung Hyun\, Melanie Jackson\, Kenji Lim\, John Russell\, Tai Shani\, Nicola Singh\, and Suzanne Treister. \nArtists have been invited to create an original A4 work in any medium. Works including painting\, drawing\, ceramics\, sculpture and prints will be exhibited at IMT Gallery in a democratic alphabetical hang\, and made available via an online auction launching to coincide with London Gallery Weekend. Each work will have a starting bid of £50. \nParticipating artists include those IMT has previously collaborated with\, alongside nominations by the gallery’s represented artists David Burrows\, Plastique Fantastique\, Maggie Roberts and Ra Tack\, and curators the gallery has worked with over the years\, including Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson\, Kirsten Cooke and Nicole Sansone. The project reflects on the artists\, conversations and projects that have shaped the gallery over the past two decades\, and offers a wide range of current practices presented by an international community of artists. \nAll works in IMTwentyOne have been kindly donated by the participating artists. Proceeds from the auction will support IMT’s future curatorial and educational programmes. \nAbout IMT Gallery: \nFounded in 2005\, IMT Gallery is a contemporary art space in London dedicated to showcasing critically engaged and innovative art. With two decades of experience\, the gallery has built a reputation for supporting boundary-pushing artists and presenting thought-provoking projects that delve into complex social\, cultural\, and philosophical themes. Alongside its exhibition programme\, the gallery represents a core group of emerging to established artists\, organises workshops and courses that offer a unique approach to engaging with art\, and commissions experimental writing on critical contemporary art. \nRoutledge recently published Contemporary Exhibition-Making and Management: Curating IMT Gallery as a Hybrid Space\, authored by the gallery’s long-standing curator (2005 – 2023) Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson. The book is part of a series on the Global Creative Economy\, edited by Aleksandar Brkić. \n  \n_ \nImage: Adam Chodzko\, Dream Skeleton [25] (2025)\, photographic retouching inks and pen on paper\, 21 x 29.7 cm

SUMMARY:Curating at Home: Making Personal Spaces of Creative Agency with Dr Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a four-session online course exploring how we live with art\, and how the art we live with shapes the way we live. \nCurating at Home: Making Personal Spaces of Creative Agency invites you to look closely at the rooms\, objects\, and artworks that surround you. Drawing on art practices\, histories\, philosophy\, exhibition-making\, and practices of everyday attention\, we will explore how meaning is shaped through arrangement\, context\, and the lived rhythms of domestic space. \nAcross four fortnightly sessions\, we will consider how art lives with us\, and how our gestures and choices quietly curate the places we inhabit. Each session includes case studies\, creative exercises\, and guided activities designed to help you think with and through your own environment. \nLed by artist\, educator\, and curator Dr Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson and hosted by IMT Gallery\, the course offers a reflective and practical space for artists\, collectors\, curators\, students\, and anyone interested in how art shapes everyday life. \nPlaces are limited — the course begins 12 April. \n🐦 Early Bird rates are available until 9 January at 11:59pm GMT. \nReady to rethink the spaces you live with? Follow the link below for full details\, and to enrol.

SUMMARY:Noisy World - Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:With simple line drawings of ordinary objects and mundane moments\, Perfect outlines an alternative vision to the competitive pursuit of perfectionism in modern society. \nAs though retrieved from a surreal flower press\, people\, plants and vessels are presented flattened and slightly out of shape; multiple minimalist selves cross architectural and art historical references; impressions of unrelated scenes captured on paper. \nWith each drawing a gentle act of rebellion\, against colour theory and perspective\, against hierarchies between foreground and background\, humans and things\, Noisy World celebrates the humane and humorous aspects of everyday life. \nGallery opening hours:\nSaturdays 10 am – 4 pm\nSundays 12 noon – 4 pm

SUMMARY:Soho Solos: Mandy Hudson\, James Robert Morrison\, Conor Quinn\, Alice Sheppard Fidler
DESCRIPTION:Great Pulteney Street gallery is delighted to present Soho Solos\, four solo presentations by Soho Open prize winners Mandy Hudson\, James Robert Morrison\, Conor Quinn and Alice Sheppard Fidler. \nSelected from around 100 artists shortlisted for the inaugural Soho Open exhibition\, each of the winning artists returns with a solo presentation in one of the four galleries at GPS. Running concurrently\, the Soho Solos provide a snapshot of the exciting variety of approaches in contemporary art today. \nAlice Sheppard Fidler and Mandy Hudson find inspiration in and give new meaning to discarded\, overlooked and found objects. Whereas Hudson elevates everyday items by arranging them into still lifes\, immortalising them in her paintings\, Sheppard Fidler combines objects and materials into sculptures and installations that shift and evolve in relation to the space they inhabit. \nConor Quinn and James Robert Morrison reclaim memories of secrecy and shame shaped by their experience of growing up gay within heteronormative and adversarial environments. While Quinn combines elements of self portraiture and handmade puppets into surreal oil paintings\, Morrison translates imagery from personal vintage gay pornography into delicate pencil drawings\, using cigarette (fag) papers as a fragile\, unconventional surface. Presented in separate spaces under one roof in Soho\, the four solos come together as a collection of visual short stories.

SUMMARY:The Art of Mini Golf - Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:An exhibition of rebellion and play for the curious\, the competitive\, and anyone bold enough to swing outside the lines.\nPlay your way through nine adventurous mini-golf holes\, each designed by a leading woman artist\, as you explore the game’s subversive history. \nArtist\, filmmaker and writer Miranda July (All Fours) goes ‘All Fores’ for the project. Kaylene Whiskey sets course with pop icons woven through Anangu culture. Tokyo’s Saeborg unleashes latex creatures of cartoonish menace\, Delaine Le Bas squares the circle\, and Natasha Tontey entwines speculative storytelling with mythology\, technology\, and alternative histories. Atlanta rapper BKTHERULA joins sound artist Kate Miller to make swamp flowers bloom. Australian duo Soda Jerk open an algorithmic K-hole\, and prolific photographer Pat Brassington dives headfirst. \nOnly the most audacious artists are here because mini golf itself was born of rebellion. The game was originally invented by 19th-century Scottish women who were banned from ‘real’ courses but refused to sit on the sidelines. \nPick your putter. It’s art that fills the cup.

SUMMARY:REJECTS - Artworks by the Royal Academy
DESCRIPTION:REJECTS: A Celebration of Overlooked Artworks by the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. \nNow in its fourth year and previously featured in The BBC\, The Guardian\, and The Art Newspaper\, REJECTS is back this June with a brand-new line-up of artists and artworks that didn’t make it into the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Each year around 18\,000 artists apply to the RA\, but only about 1\,500 make the cut\, leaving a whole lot of talent that might otherwise go unseen. \nHoused in a quaint 19th-century bakery on Notting Hill’s iconic Portobello Road\, this year’s exhibition provides a defiant spotlight for these brilliant\, overlooked works. Spanning painting\, sculpture\, photography\, textiles\, and mixed media\, the show features a fresh mix of emerging and established artists reclaiming their space on the summer art calendar. Expect a range of bold statements and thoughtful storytelling\, from bright\, joyful paintings and embroidered buildings to hauntingly beautiful figures. \nWhether you’re an art collector or just art-curious\, Art Friend welcomes everyone to the gallery. So you can decide for yourselves: did the judges make the right decision? Come be the critic and see which artworks make your cut. And if you really love a REJECT\, you can buy it and take it home with you\, as all the artwork on display is for sale. \nOpening Night Drinks: Thursday 18 June & Friday 19 June\, 5–9 pm Join us for drinks\, music\, and a first look at this year’s REJECTS. \nWhy REJECTS matters: REJECTS isn’t just an exhibition\, it’s a movement. It highlights how much talent is out there and how many people face rejection on a daily basis\,we have all been rejects once! So come join the club\, root for the underdog and enjoy seeing what talent has been given a second chance.

SUMMARY:Blood of My Blood - Photography Exhibition by Magda Kuca
DESCRIPTION:Magda Kuca presents a body of work highlighting the shared histories of photography and medicine at the Old Operating Theatre. \nBlood of My Blood is a multi-faceted project that investigates the link between personal narratives and scientific advancement through a photographic lens. Kuca’s solo exhibition blends in with the surroundings at the former site of both herbal apothecary and early surgical procedures. \nAt the core of the project lies the artist’s response to her mother’s cancer journey. Applying a camera-less form of experimental photography to capture their embracing bodies\, Kuca expresses shared vulnerability while echoing the effects of chemotherapy with the marks and traces left on the resulting image. \nFor a series of wet collodion portraits captured on glass\, and limbs on surgery-grade steel\, Kuca allows the unvarnished surfaces to decompose and tarnish\, repairing deliberate fractures with silver. Still lifes of plague doctor masks provide a link to the healing herbs grown in the museum’s attic. \nThe contemporary works are displayed in cabinets alongside the museum’s main collection. Reminiscent of vintage medical journals\, they evoke a sense of nostalgia while highlighting subsequent progress in overcoming physical injury and infectious disease. \nThe surgeries at the Old Operating Theatre were performed on women without anaesthetics or antiseptics\, in front of a live audience of predominantly male medical students. Magda Kuca’s work serves as a reminder of the personal stories behind medical innovation. \npublic open times:\nThursday – Sunday\, 10.30am – 5pm\n(exhibition entry included in museum general admission)
