DESCRIPTION:From protest icon to 3D-printed artwork. Created by Czech visual artist David Černý in collaboration with Prusa Research\, one of the world’s leading 3D printer manufacturers\, this exhibition explores the story of Prague’s Pink Tank of 1991 alongside some of the artist’s best-known sculptures from the 1990s. \nWithout exaggeration\, 35 years ago\, in 1991\, a new era of Czech visual art began. Artist David Černý painted a Soviet tank bright pink. Legend has it he did it for a girl – but this story is far from an uncomplicated love tale. \nAt the centre of the exhibition is Soviet Tank No. 23\, once prominently displayed in Prague\, erected to commemorate the liberation of Czechoslovakia at the end of the Second World War. Over time\, however\, it came to symbolise Soviet expansionism and\, after 1968\, the real occupation by tanks sent from Moscow to Czechoslovakia. \nAs part of the London Design Festival\, Czech Centre London presents David Černý’s iconic work and its story with interesting twists and turns in a new printed edition – quite literally. The artist has teamed up with the innovative Czech company Prusa Research\, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of 3D printers\, to create a 3D-printed model of the Pink Tank. \nThe sculpture itself captures the optimism of the newly regained freedom of the early 1990s while bringing Černý’s trademark humour and sense of absurdity into an important debate about public space. It reflects a specific Central European experience and creates an interesting dialogue with the British one. What we cannot unsee is how it casts the shadow of threats that have once again become relevant today. \nAlongside the Pink Tank\, the exhibition will feature other works by David Černý\, recipient of international and Czech art awards\, whom the BBC named among the world’s most provocative visual artists. Don’t miss\, for example\, Cerny’s take on St Wenceslas statue\, depicting the Czech patron saint well known to the British public from the popular English carol Good King Wenceslas\, also presented as a 3D print. \nPrusa Research\, represents new chapters of Czech innovation and creativity. Today a global technological company started as a garage start-up in 2012 in Prague. This exhibition will showcase the possibilities of 3D printing in contemporary art\, demonstrating how this rapidly evolving technology is opening new creative possibilities for artists and designers too. DESCRIPTION:This outdoor exhibition by photographer Jan Zatorsky complements David Černý: The Glorious 90s in Prague. Reprinted by Prusa Research\, on display at Vitrínka Gallery. While the gallery exhibition brings Černý’s iconic works to London in new 3D-printed forms\, Zatorsky’s photographs take you back to Prague\, where these works have become part of the city’s contemporary landscape. \nYou know the Czech capital\, Prague. She – because we call her the Mother – has of course the charming panoramas of historic buildings. And serves her visitors magnetic views of Prague Castle\, the Charles Bridge and many other sights. \nBut if you give the city a second look\, you will see a different face – with contemporary art scattered around\, in between historic buildings and the new ones too. Czech artist David Černý\, the forever ‘enfant terrible’ of Czech art\,  has his signature on many of them. In fact\, he has shaped the contemporary layer of Prague’s look like no other Czech artist. \nCzech photojournalist Jan Zatorsky\, holder of several Czech Press Photo awards\, has walked in Černý’s footprints in Prague to guide you through. His photo story from the Czech capital presents Černý’s striking pieces\, that almost shout at you with their size\, and also the less visible ones that are there to catch you by surprise – but both ways\, always make you think. \nThis photographic display accompanies the Czech Centre London exhibition of David Černý’s works\, seen around Prague\, in 3D models printed by Prusa Research\, a company that started modestly in the Czech Republic in 2012 and grew into one of the global leaders in 3D printer manufacturing. \nAt both venues you will see Černý‘s giant Babies sculptures (first made in 1999)\, which climb the Žižkov district TV tower and have already become one of the city’s symbols. The story of the legendary Pink Tank (first painted by Černý in the bright colour in 1991 to confront the remnants of Soviet political dominance and propaganda after the fall of Communism) has new chapters  written into today‘s landscape of Prague. Watch out\, so you don’t trip over it! Černý‘s more recent works include The Butterfly Effect\, honouring the Czechoslovak RAF pilots who fought alongside the Brits in the Second World War\, and the rotating head of Prague author Franz Kafka\, Instagram’s favourite sight in the Czech capital. \nDavid Černý was born in Prague in 1967 to a family of artists. He later studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague between 1988 and 1996. In 1990\, he received the Special Prize at the Kortrijk Biennale\, Belgium. One year later\, he began his residential scholarship in Boswil after receiving a grant from the Swiss Government. In 1994\, he moved to New York as an artist in residence at the PS1 gallery. Two years later\, he completed the Whitney Independent Study Program. In 1996\, he won another grant\, this time from the Pollack-Krasner Foundation in the United States\, and in 2000\, he received the Jindřich Chalupecký Award for the country’s most promising visual artist under the age of 35. In 2001\, he founded Meetfactory\, a non-profit international centre for contemporary art. He lives in Prague and is the proud father of his daughter\, Elektra. \nJan Zatorsky is a Czech photographer\, who was born into the family of a protestant pastor in Northern Moravia in 1957. He was free to work as a photographer only after the fall of Communism in Czechoslovakia in 1989. For most of the 1990s\, when people without links to the Communist regime were needed\, especially in the security forces\, he held high positions at the Ministry of the Interior and the Police. Since 2000 he was the chief photographer of the Mediacop publishing house\, which had the influential weekly magazine Týden in its portfolio. Exhibition + Online Auction
DESCRIPTION:IMTwentyOne marks IMT Gallery’s 21st anniversary with a benefit exhibition and online auction\, bringing together over 100 unique works by emerging to established artists such as Amanda Beech\, Adam Chodzko\, Benedict Drew\, Soyoung Hyun\, Melanie Jackson\, Kenji Lim\, John Russell\, Tai Shani\, Nicola Singh\, and Suzanne Treister. \nArtists have been invited to create an original A4 work in any medium. Works including painting\, drawing\, ceramics\, sculpture and prints will be exhibited at IMT Gallery in a democratic alphabetical hang\, and made available via an online auction launching to coincide with London Gallery Weekend. Each work will have a starting bid of £50. \nParticipating artists include those IMT has previously collaborated with\, alongside nominations by the gallery’s represented artists David Burrows\, Plastique Fantastique\, Maggie Roberts and Ra Tack\, and curators the gallery has worked with over the years\, including Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson\, Kirsten Cooke and Nicole Sansone. The project reflects on the artists\, conversations and projects that have shaped the gallery over the past two decades\, and offers a wide range of current practices presented by an international community of artists. \nAll works in IMTwentyOne have been kindly donated by the participating artists. Proceeds from the auction will support IMT’s future curatorial and educational programmes. \nAbout IMT Gallery: \nFounded in 2005\, IMT Gallery is a contemporary art space in London dedicated to showcasing critically engaged and innovative art. With two decades of experience\, the gallery has built a reputation for supporting boundary-pushing artists and presenting thought-provoking projects that delve into complex social\, cultural\, and philosophical themes. Alongside its exhibition programme\, the gallery represents a core group of emerging to established artists\, organises workshops and courses that offer a unique approach to engaging with art\, and commissions experimental writing on critical contemporary art. \nRoutledge recently published Contemporary Exhibition-Making and Management: Curating IMT Gallery as a Hybrid Space\, authored by the gallery’s long-standing curator (2005 – 2023) Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson. DESCRIPTION:IMT Gallery presents The House\, an exhibition of works by Tom Clark\, Guest-Host-Guest\, Harri Harrison\, Heiðdís Hólm\, Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson\, Anna Sebastian\, Kristina Stallvik and Suzanne Treister. It features work that all\, often through degrees of autobiography\, speaks to some of the discordances of being at home: perhaps the anticipation of order amidst the everyday; or an expectation of comfort\, often amidst insecurity or tension. \nThe exhibition is a place where we might live. Often\, when visitors come to this gallery\, they ask her if she lives here. They ask\, “Do you live here?” They ask\, “Are these your cats?” I lived here once too. I don’t anymore. This exhibition is about living somewhere. Perhaps it is about reaching for this thing. \nIn the words of Guest-Host-Guest: ‘Here\, the house is a metaphor for assumed belonging. A place we are expected to be ‘resolved’ or ‘satisfied’\, even when displacement\, precarity\, and contested ownership sit just beneath the surface.’ \nThe exhibition is a hand with a mirror in front of it. The mirror reflects some flowers or a field. Behind the hand is a sky. In front of the sky is a blank\, featureless wall. All these things at various distances from the camera. SUMMARY:At the Edge of All Things
DESCRIPTION:At the Edge of All Things brings together three artists who conjure post-human landscapes in response to the uncertainties and frailties of contemporary life. The exhibition marks the start of a three-month series of events at a former warehouse in Borough as the building is prepared for its next chapter – the space itself a symbol of civic transition. \nAnna Woodward\, Annie Trevorah and Vilte Fuller provoke alternative futures in a world teetering on the brink of collapse. Examining the interconnectedness of humanity and the natural world from cultural and historical\, theoretical and personal perspectives the artists’ works capture a liminal moment between utopia and dystopia. \nIn her intricate paintings Anna Woodward’s depicts fantastical scenarios where the organic and human-made collide\, Annie Trevorah’s hybrid sculptures blur the lines between plant life and technology\, while Vite Fuller’s otherworldly scenes draw on ancient folktales and urban myths. Together they join nature’s alarm call to step back from the edge. \nThis inaugural show launches a creative hub hosted by IAG (Independent Art Galleries and Exhibitions) led by curator Josephine May Bailey. Over the course of three months\, the temporarily vacant space will act as a platform for dialogue\, experimentation and exchange by incorporating exhibitions\, artist residencies and collaborative programming.

DESCRIPTION:Iconomorphosis describes the transformation of meaning through works of art that conceal their message until placed in a relevant cultural context. The eight artists in in this exhibition explore deceptive realities in contemporary life with works ranging from painting and sculpture to film and performance. \nCurated by Othello De’Souza-Hartley\, the exhibition addresses the tension between internal perceptions and external preconceptions\, through visual codes and symbolisms informed by individual experience and collective memory.  \nKamalishe Hiraldo\, Arlene Wandera and Abdollah Nafisi explore notions of belonging through working with discarded\, rejected or repurposed objects and materials\, while Taballa Tabasom’s practice is an enquiry into body memory and belonging through gendered and queer perspectives. \nWorking in sculpture and film respectively\, Sonia E Barrett and Blue Smith transform historical objects and archival footage into tools of narrative-making from within a postcolonial framework. \nOthello De’Souza’s integrates found objects into his predominantly black paintings as an invitation to look beyond first impressions or perceived imperfections\, while the ‘Black Nausea’ in BLCKGEEZER’s work has its origin in the artist’s ongoing experience of breast cancer and chemotherapy. \nWhether picked at random or for their inherent qualities\, for aesthetic or emotional reasons\, the elements that inform the works in Iconomorphosis provide a visual bridge between remembered pasts and imagined futures and question notions of unconditional truth.

DESCRIPTION:Tutored by Mariam Ashraf\, in this hands-on workshop\, participants will learn the basics of plaster carving by tracing simple designs with large\, clear lines\, exploring their creativity and developing their manual skills. Mariam will introduce them to plaster craft\, a traditional architectural craft which can be found in Leighton House. Designs will be inspired by natural elements like flowers and trees. Pre-poured plaster tiles will be used to make the process easier and allow participants to focus on tool use and carving. SUMMARY:Connecting Threads
DESCRIPTION:Great Pulteney Street Gallery rings in 2026 with a group exhibition that explores the links between marginalised materials and cultural hierarchies. For Connecting Threads Paul Carey-Kent and Christina Niederberger selected eleven artists whose works broaden the scope of textile art. \nHaving long been dismissed as inferior to painting and sculpture\, stitched\, woven and threaded works are increasingly receiving attention and recognition\, yet are still widely considered as separate from traditional fine art disciplines. Just as aspects of identity relating to race\, sexuality or gender are becoming more fluid\, so are artists redefining their practice in terms of medium\, material or methodology. \nThe participants in Connecting Threads incorporate physical and conceptual elements of textile art into painting\, photography and sculpture in response to societal and political shifts. Sam Owen Hull comments on an increasingly polarised world with the material contradictions of spontaneous painterly marks and considered hand embroidery\, while Christine Niederberger interweaves unconscious readings of Abstract Expressionism as a male domain with textile elements widely perceived as female. Michael Raedecker and Tamar Mason both explore the impact of humanity on the natural world\, from an urban and rural perspective\, respectively. \nWith the majority of works in the show leaning towards more abstract and conceptual approaches\, Caroline Achaintre’s and Debbie Lawson’s tapestries bear the closest resemblance to traditional textile art. The former creates hybrid characters by blending materials and cultural references; the latter hides imaginary creatures in patterned carpets. \nJulie Cockburn and Berend Strik both use textile techniques to add new meaning to found photographs\, while Hannah Knox mirrors the meditative slowness of knitting when meticulously painting items of clothing. Kate Terry uses thread to draw physical lines into space while John Walter digitally re-engineers popular textile patterns to draw attention to the intersection of art\, science and architecture. \nThe location itself provides a link to Soho’s rag trade legacy that has evolved from fabric traders and garment showrooms to flagship boutiques and a fashion destination.

DESCRIPTION:IMT Gallery is proud to present the first UK solo exhibition of Paris-based artist Soyoung Hyun. Invitation To A Ritual features two interconnected bodies of work: Purification box and Shadow. These works delve into themes of memory\, transformation\, and the delicate boundary between presence and absence. Hyun draws on personal and cultural rituals as pathways to emotional healing. Her ceramic pieces oscillate between functional objects and sculptural forms\, blurring traditional boundaries and inviting viewers into an introspective experience. \nHyun’s Purification box series is a collection of clay vessels adorned with volcanic stones from Mount Etna. Each serving as a repository for negative thoughts or experiences—such as traumas\, obsessions\, or unwanted habits—that the individual seeks to distance from and transform. Drawing inspiration from personal and cultural rituals\, these boxes provide a physical space to externalise and reinterpret these memories\, facilitating a process of emotional cleansing. Through this series\, Hyun examines how art can serve as a bridge between the tangible and intangible\, guiding individuals toward healing and renewal. \nShadow series captures the ephemeral nature of shadows\, sculpting them into ceramic forms that represent the silhouettes of vases and flowers. This series delves into the duality of permanence and impermanence\, contrasting the solid\, tactile nature of ceramics with the fleeting\, intangible qualities of a shadow. Drawing on Korean folklore\, where a shadow is seen as evidence of life\, Hyun’s shadow works embody a paradox: they are tangible representations of something inherently immaterial\, symbolising life and presence despite their lack of a fixed form. Through this\, the Shadow series explores themes of existence\, memory\, and the delicate boundary between life and illusion. \nSoyoung Hyun is a Korean-born\, Paris-based artist known for her handcrafted ceramics that explore the perpetual transformation of organic textures and natural forms. Hyun’s practice embraces raw gestures and repetitive processes\, reflecting on the harmony and tension between nature’s impermanence and the permanence of human touch. \nHyun studied fine Art at the University of Paris 8 and Hongik University in Seoul. She has exhibited internationally in Paris\, Copenhagen\, Ghent and Shanghai. Recent exhibitions include Un livre est comme un jardin que l’on porte dans sa poche (A book is like a garden that you carry in your pocket)\, Yvon Lambert\, Paris (2025); Soleil Mauve (Purple Sun)\, Réfectoire des Nonnes\, ENSBA\, Lyon (2024); Dropping\, LMDS\, Shanghai (2023) and Impossible objects – Tell me i Exist\, K41\, Copenhagen (2023). In 2024\, Hyun was invited to lead a workshop at Lafayette Anticipations in Paris\, and presented an artistic protocol and conducted workshops as part of an exhibition at FRAC Île-de-France in connection with Warm Blooded and Earthbound by Eglé Budvytyté. \nCoinciding with Invitation To A Ritual\, IMT Gallery is excited to participate in this year’s London Gallery Weekend from 6 – 8 June. Plant Power marks their propagation into the hustle and bustle of an office environment. \nShowcasing twelve works\, including a painting\, to introduce a new body of work dedicated to the maritime realm\, groups of sensual cyborgs and symbiotic totems are huddled in opposite corners\, exchanging water cooler stories under the watchful gaze of their mutant supervisors\, whose predatory and fallible characteristics serve as reminders of the effects of climate change on all life forms. \nUsing organic and synthetic materials to intriguing monuments to human-plant interconnectivity\, Trevorah merges eco-feminist theory with subtle humour to encourage reflection and reassurance. \nPlant Power is located a short walk from Hammersmith station.
