SUMMARY:Everybody’s Talking About Jamie
DESCRIPTION:Witness the trill of a musical about a teen drag queen who makes it in London. The real life story is inspired by a 2011 BBC documentary about the life of 16-year-old Jamie and his journey and struggles of becoming who he wants to be. \nThe popping stages\, beautiful stage plus video projection scenes will vow you. Director Jonathan Butterell brings out the energy of being a teenager. The stage is further brought to life with music from Dan Gillespie Sells. Playing numbers that are a mix of catch\, pop-honed foot-tappers that will keep you humming the song. \n\nSupporting characters such as Jamie’s best friends Pritti who wants to be a doctor and Lucie bring a fun tone to the story. Jamie’s mum Josie who raised him alone is a straight forward no monkey-business kinda woman. \nEverybody’s Talking About Jamie – Show in London                                                                  \nEverybody’s Talking About Jamie – Show in London \nThe star of the show playing Jamie is John McCree. Known for his charisma and sassiness. He displays vulnerability and the strength that comes within. Heart-stopping numbers and an heart warming tale combines to present a production like no other. \nGET TICKETS on and learn more about the play.

SUMMARY:100 Days to Peace
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of music and reflection to mark the centenary of the last 100 days of hostilities during the First World War. \nThe highlight of the evening’s programme will be Sir Karl Jenkins conducting his internationally acclaimed work The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace\, performed by the Royal Choral Society and the Philharmonia Orchestra. This will be the only performance of ‘The Armed Man’ in England in 2018 to be conducted by Sir Karl himself. \nThe evening will be presented by Lesley Garrett CBE who will also be performing\, alongside British mezzo-soprano Kathryn Rudge. \nAll proceeds from this event will go to three charities working to support military veterans facing mental health challenges: Help for Heroes\, Combat Stress and Heads Together – The Royal Foundation’s campaign and mental health initiative. \nAt the end of the First World War many thousands of men returned home suffering from shell-shock. With minimal understanding of the condition\, many did not benefit from the type of support which is increasingly available today. Although circumstances have changed significantly over the last 100 years\, we are ever more aware of the number of veterans who continue to need support because they suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder\, anxiety or depression. \nAs the national museum of arms and armour\, the Royal Armouries tells the stories of the men and women who have been involved in and affected by combat throughout history. As music will be at the heart of this classical evening it is fitting that Sir Karl Jenkin’s will conduct his internationally acclaimed ‘The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace’ – originally commissioned by the Royal Armouries to mark the turn of the millennium to create a legacy of peace and hope for the future. \nA better future\nChairman of the Royal Armouries\, General the Lord Dannatt GBC CBE MC DL\, comments: ‘Tragically\, the First World War did not turn out to be ‘the war to end war’ but then\, as now\, by marking the centenary of the end of the last 100 days of hostilities with this commemorative concert\, we can hope and pray for a better future. Part of that better future is helping those who have been affected by war and conflict.’

SUMMARY:Renaissance Music from England & Spain
DESCRIPTION:The Lovekyn Consort perform quintessentially English songs and tunes from the Elizabethan stage and tavern\, together with tales of battles\, love and loss from Imperial Spain. \nIn 1588\, the English fleet won a resounding victory against their longterm rival. Spain had established its empire at the beginning of the sixteenth century\, and England wanted to establish its own trading networks and military power at sea. England was an expanding power tilting at a much greater one\, and Spain had incorporated cultural influences from Jewish and Muslim cultures and was now absorbing elements of South American culture. \nThe Lovekyn Consort will perform music from the formative period of Spain’s expansion – from the end of the fifteenth century to the first third of the sixteenth\, together with songs and tunes from the burgeoning English stage and its developing civic culture – from the late sixteenth to the early seventeenth centuries. Spain had forcibly integrated its minorities before expanding abroad\, absorbing some aspects of their cultures into a national style\, whereas English music some times assumed a style borrowed from one of its neighbours. In the middle of these developing empires were the naval ‘Armada’ battles of the 1580s\, and we will mark these with ballads and tunes from both sides. \nThe Lovekyn Consort play instruments of the type originally used for their music. \nPatricia Hammond – Voice; William Summers – Flute\, Recorder; Stephen Carpenter – Lute\, Vihuela\, Guitar \nDoors open at 19:00\, music starts at 19:30.
