SUMMARY:Desire to Create: Baťa's Architecture of Belonging
DESCRIPTION:The Czech Centre London\, in collaboration with the Tomáš Baťa Foundation and the Bata Heritage Centre\, marks the 150th anniversary of Czech entrepreneur Tomáš Baťa\, founder of the global Baťa Shoe Company\, with an exhibition exploring his achievements\, guiding principles\, and their realisation in East Tilbury. It reveals how ideas about work\, culture\, sport\, health and community were embedded in the design of the built environment. \nThe exhibition unfolds in two complementary strands. Desire to Create presents Baťa’s legacy as a comprehensive philosophy\, uniting work with service\, enterprise with education\, and personal development with responsibility towards others – not as a relic of the past\, but as a continuing source of inspiration. Baťa’s Architecture of Belonging brings East Tilbury to life through architectural drawings\, historic photographs and original artefacts\, evoking its distinctive modernist atmosphere. SUMMARY:The Space Within
DESCRIPTION:The Space Within brings together women artists from London and across the South East who incorporate glass in their practice while approaching the material from a multitude of angles. \n  \nThe exhibition title alludes to the versatility and lasting allure of glass\, with objects ranging from vessels for domestic use to those holding memories\, from figurative interpretations inspired by nature to abstract forms playing with texture\, fragility and light. \n  \nAll thirteen artists work with cast glass\, individual techniques ranging from melting and moulding to fusing and carving – their collaborative display a contemporary introduction to an ancient art form.

SUMMARY:David Černý’s Butterfly Effect Arrives in London
DESCRIPTION:A striking artwork by the outstanding Czech artist David Černý\, famous for his bold outdoor installations\, is about to land in London. Czech Centre London\, together with Atelier Bohemia\, CzechTrade and Prusa Research\, is bringing to the UK a special variation of Černý’s Butterfly Effect installation on the occasion of Clerkenwell Design Week. The piece commemorates the Czechoslovak RAF pilots of the Second World War\, combining artistry\, a proud Czech-British tradition\, and cutting-edge manufacturing technology. \n\nTo realise the work\, Černý collaborated with Prusa Research\, the Prague-based company that pioneered desktop 3D printing and remains one of the world’s leading 3D printer manufacturers. Drawing on art practices\, histories\, philosophy\, exhibition-making\, and practices of everyday attention\, we will explore how meaning is shaped through arrangement\, context\, and the lived rhythms of domestic space. \nAcross four fortnightly sessions\, we will consider how art lives with us\, and how our gestures and choices quietly curate the places we inhabit.
